“Witches Of East End” will air a two hour finale (two back to back episodes) on October 5. I wasn’t a huge fan of the previous episode with the flashbacks to Freya and Kilian/Poe’s past. I was at least glad to see Ingrid isn’t as stupid as it first appeared and is playing her grandfather. I seriously was thinking they should have left her dead! I would be stunned if Lifetime didn’t give the show a third season.
Spoilers below!
“Box To The Future.”
Joanna tries to travel back to the present, but a dangerous admirer tracks her down in the past. Meanwhile, Killian makes a rash decision after hearing about Freya. Frederick becomes suspicious of Ingrid’s intentions, while King Nikolaus propositions Dash.
“For Whom the Spell Tolls”
Joanna trying to escape from Tarkoff, while Freya and Wendy race to find a way back to the present. As for Ingrid, she learns some shocking news about herself from King Nikolaus, while Dash’s dark past closes in on him.
A lot has been going on with the witches since I last posted. This post is just my thoughts on the stories, with spoilers for the next few episodes at the end.
So it’s getting harder and harder to keep liking Fredrick, given what he’s been up to. We’ve learned that the king’s spirit is inside of him, and he’s trying to basically give him a new body to take over. That’s what all the ritual killings were about, along with the Mandragora. Freddy didn’t like killing people to try and find a vessel for grandpa, so he had the Mandragora doing it. I suspected earlier that he may be possessed by grandpa, but this is more of a Harry Potter like Quirrel twist they have going on. I believe they even mentioned the king being sick and crazy at one point. Perhaps he actually died? If so this really is just like Harry Potter. Interestingly in the latest episode it seems he killed his girlfriend to give grandpa a new body. Looks like grandpa will now be grandma? I hope they find a way to make me like Fredrick again.
Wendy was forced to give up her boyfriend Tommy when he saw her shift. Joanna wanted her to erase his memory and never see him again, for their protection as much as his. If other witches found out about him, they’d kill him to protect themselves. However she couldn’t do it. Tommy is trying to be okay with her, and I really hope things work out for them. They are super cute together.
We found out that Killian’s wife has spelled him to get a baby out of him. It is unclear why she needs this. We know she seems to be forever young, as her grandmother who lives with them is actually her daughter. Do kids keep her young, or something else? I’m thinking she’s immortal, but her daughter is not, and they are trying to do a soul transfer. She unfortunately is keeping him under her spell, though he keeps breaking out of it. Poor Freya thought they finally had a chance to be together, until he returned to Ava!
Finally Ingrid and Dash got together, but she soon learned all the bad things he’s been up to and walked out on him. Uh oh! Looks like Ingrid could be in danger again from obsessive-Dash.

Witches Of East End: Disco Inferno And The Mandragora

So the past two episodes of “Witches of East End” dealt with the Mandragora storyline and putting it to bed. We had a few twists and turns along the way. One of the biggest was the introduction of an old love interest of Joanna, a woman named Alex. They parted on bad terms, mainly because Alex warned Freya in a previous life that she and Killian were star-crossed lovers and never meant to be. At least it seems like she was talking about Killian, could she have been speaking of Dash? This past life took place in the 70s, so it was hilarious to see everyone in disco threads (Freya, Killian and Dash) or hippie attire (Joanna and Alex).
Joanna reached out to Alex to help them with the Mandragora problems. Wendy remained suspicious of Fredrick, who knew a lot about the beast. He didn’t know as much as Alex, who helped them all break its hold on Ingrid and destroy it once and for all. However not before it took out Ingrid’s co-worker at the library. I was so sad to see him go. He only had a bit part, but poor Ingrid just keeps losing co-workers left and right. Worse yet Fredrick was trying to heal him, so he said, but Wendy’s distrust caused her to send him away. She was worried he was killing him so he would stay quiet. Ingrid and him said a touching goodbye.
Dash continued his decent into evil, being poisoned by the beast and telling Freya way too much. The poison made him tell her off in anger, as well as say he had done horrible things she couldn’t even dream of. They cured him, and he and Freya seemingly made up. She swore she only ever kissed his brother, they never slept together. Dash helped save Ingrid from the beast, and it was clear to Freya that they were getting closer. She’s likely not going to give up on the horrible things he did comment, though she clearly has no idea that her own sister helped him cover some of them up!
Killian meanwhile had some spell put on him by his new girlfriend. I knew she was up to no good, but we still don’t know what she’s after. Possibly their family’s grimoire? They made a point to mention it in this episode as having a vast amount of knowledge, and they used it to help get rid of the Mandragora. I also wouldn’t be shocked if she worked for Joanna and Wendy’s father.
By the end of the latest episode Fredrick saved Wendy from the Mandragora, which seemed to put her doubts about him to rest. Too bad, because something is going on with him! The final shot had him writhing in pain, his eyes and the symbol of his grandfather on his chest glowing, and in an unusual voice he swore he would find another way and he would’t fail him again. So Fredrick did bring the Mandragora over and is working for his Grandfather? Or is he being controlled through magic?

Witches Of East End: Is Fredrick Really Evil? Plus Spoilers!
Posted by Dustin on 07.28.2014 at 1:18 pm
So a lot has been going down with the “Witches of East End” in the past few episodes. The major question still remains as to what Fredrick is up to. Each week it seems to flip flop from he’s bad, to he’s good, to he’s back to being bad. The last two episodes had Victor kidnapped by these twins from “The Rat Clan” who were old friends of Fredrick’s in Asgard and banished long ago. They wanted Fredrick to open the portal and let them go back. They later kidnapped Freya to make him do this. While Joanna went to rescue the family, Fredrick went to deal with the rats. The sister got away it seems, but Fredrick killed the brother. Before doing so the brother said he would be killing his family at the same time, and Fredrick didn’t seem to care! So it seems like Fredrick hasn’t changed at all. Meanwhile Joanna did rescue Freya, but Victor apparently died in a spell trap. He actually sacrificed himself to save Freya and Joanna. I refuse to believe it though. We didn’t see Victor actually die, Joanna and Freya had to flee or be caught in the trap too. Also the sister is still out there I think.
Dash and Killian have been reunited, but Killian doesn’t remember what happened to him. He thinks he was knocked out in a storm and wound up being found by his new girlfriend Eva. The brothers rediscovered their heritage, but Dash misused a spell that almost ended up killing Killian. Ingrid saved him, but not before the Mandragora aka the Plant Monster got to her again. Ingrid confessed to Dash that she was losing bits of time, and she had marks on her body that she can’t explain. It’s where the Mandragora is sucking her life basically. She asked Dash for his help. You can tell these two are going to end up together, which will not please Freya. Dash is also still boarderline nuts from all that’s happened to him. When Killian finally remembers, things will get ugly.
Eslewhere Wendy and the EMT are dating, but it seems like their relationship is almost jinxed. Wendy keeps hurting the poor guy in various ways. She’s had to use magic over and over to save him, and he’s eventually going to catch on. Right now he’s playing dumb almost, but I think he probably knows exactly who and what she is. I wouldn’t be shocked if he was a warlock.
Spoilers for the next three episodes below! Including special guest James Marsters (Spike from “Buffy”)!
So we are two episodes into the second season of “Witches of East End” and so far I’m digging it. This posts discusses what’s been going on, and mainly my thoughts on the show so far.
Joanna’s son Fredrick came through the portal that was opened by Ingrid at the end of last season. He claims he is sorry that he sided with Joanna and Wendy’s father during the war in Asgard, but Wendy just doesn’t trust him. She thinks there is something bad about him. Fredrick had the power to heal his mom from the poison that Dash and Killion’s mom gave her as well. We’ve also learned that Fredrick and Freya are twins and share a unique magical bond, they can weave certain spells together. They used one to locate Killian, who Freya knew was in danger.
Elsewhere Dash is losing his mind slowly it seems. He’s having visions of his brother Killian, who he thinks is dead. Killian is sending him on a dangerous path, learning to use his powers and do harm. He’s also being blackmailed by someone who knows what he did to Killian. We don’t yet know who that person is though. For awhile I thought that he may be hallucinating the blackmail just like he is his brother, that this is all his guilt. Now I’m wondering if Killian’s new girlfriend Eva has something to do with it all. She is a witch down in Santa Dominga and found Killian adrift, and he’s having some memory issues it seems. I wonder if she is using both the brothers to get rich? I have to say I’m not liking Killian’s story yet. Get him back home and with Freya where he belongs. Eva is up to no good.
Wendy continues to suspect that Frederick is no good, but as of yet nobody realizes there is this bizarre plant monster in the woods that seems to be the real evil that also came through the portal. Ingrid had weird sex with the thing, and now it’s killed her boss. It killed someone else too, as we learned from an EMT and new potential love interest for Wendy, carving symbols into their chest and having them chant “The king is coming.” At first I wondered if the monster was part of Fredrick? Something he was projecting? Then again, he likely wouldn’t have had sex with his own sister. Fredrick is is acting bizarre though. He’s eyes were glowing red when he attacked a drunk in Freya’s bar, and he did some spell on Wendy’s earring. I also wonder if perhaps Fredrick isn’t Fredrick, but the grandfather who has shapeshifted in order to get to his daughters somehow? Things that make you go hmmmmm . . .
Comments Off on Witches of East End Season 2 Thoughts
The second season of Lifetime’s thrilling series Witches of East End returns this summer with an ensemble cast headlined by Emmy Award-winner Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Rachel Boston, Mädchen Amick , Eric Winter and Daniel DiTomasso. Christian Cooke joins the cast as a new series regular this season.
Based on Melissa de la Cruz’s New York Times best-selling novel, the series centers on the Beauchamp family, where in season one sisters Freya (Dewan Tatum) and Ingrid (Boston) discovered they are witches with ancient magical powers. With the help of their mother Joanna (Ormond) and Aunt Wendy (Amick), they learned how to cultivate their craft and work together to defeat unearthly enemies seeking revenge on their family, while keeping their abilities a secret from the town.
This season, with the portal to Asgard open, what comes through will forever change the lives of the Beauchamps. Darkness surrounds East End as a new stranger (Cooke) arrives. Joanna is still weak with poison in her blood as the Beauchamps search desperately for a cure. With the death of Penelope (Virginia Madsen), Killian (DiTomasso) and Dash’s (Winter) warlock powers return.

Witches of the East End Season Finale Thoughts . . .
Posted by Dustin on 12.23.2013 at 7:10 pm
So I’m FINALLY catching up on my posts, commenting on the various Season and Mid-Season finales. There are a few shows I still plan to re-watch before commenting on. I hope to be caught up by the end of this week though.
On “Witches of the East End” all hell broke lose. Penelope kidnapped Joanna on Freya’s wedding day and was torturing her, revealing that she was actually Athena. She had borrowed Dash and Killian’s powers when they were babies to counter her spell and track her down. With Freya’s powers, she now had enough to finally do away with Joanna once and for all. Fortunately Wendy showed up in time to help her sister, and like something out of Hansel and Gretel they shoved her into a furnace.
Victor, Freya and Ingrid’s father, had talks with both of them. He told Ingrid that Asgard is real, it’s where they come from, but even if it was possible to return, they can’t. He said there was a war, their side lost, and as powerful as they are . . . the ones over there are more powerful.
He talked with Freya and told her that he had something to tell her about who she is marrying. He saw her with Killian earlier, and he recognized him from the past. In every life she’s drawn to a man, and that man is Killian. He thinks just like her, he’s reborn over and over, that he is her soul mate. This seemed to answer the question as to which brother was the trixster and which was she meant to be with. She broke it off with Dash and ran off, but so did he.
The moment Penelope was burned, Dash, Killian and Freya got their powers back. However only Freya knew what the feeling meant. Freya ran to find Killian, but she was too late. She saw his boat sailing away. Unfortunately before she arrived, Dash arrived. With powers he didn’t even understand, he threw his brother around hard . . . possibly killing him? Dash quickly untied the boat and let it sail off . . .
Ingrid ended up being kidnapped by Mike. He discovered that another key to opening the door existed, and it was Ingrid! He made her open the door just as Wendy and Joanna located her. Poor Mike though got killed by the power of the door, I guess he was mortal after all. However as the others watched in shock and horror, someone stepped through . . . I’m going to guess that the person coming through is their brother Fredrick? If it’s not, they are probably in BIG trouble!
The show returns next year for the second season. I’m going to guess with Penelope gone, they will need a new big bad, and it will be someone from Asgard.

Witches of the East End Thoughts, Renewal and December/Finale Spoilers!
Posted by Dustin on 11.25.2013 at 3:11 pm
So first up the good news, Lifetime has renewed “Witches of the East End” for a 13 episode order for a 2014 return. No word yet on the return date, I imagine it will be next October again.
The last few episodes have been amazing, but troublesome at the same time. Wendy, after being killed by Zombie Ingrid, is now on her last life! I just can’t imagine the show without Wendy. They have to find a way to reverse this and give her some lives back. We are led to believe she’s on her last life as the necklace she wears has changed color from black to red. I guess though, this could possibly be a sign of something else? That could keep her around.
Ingrid has a new beau, a historian who is following his father’s footsteps and research. He believes witches live in East End, but that they also come from another world called Asgard. While the show didn’t say it, this is the mythological heavens of the Vikings/Thor. Come to think of it, Ingrid and Freya are names from Norse mythology . . . . Hmmm . . . . Ingrid is trying to discourage him, but upon seeing an old map of his and using magic, she believes the world exists. Her mother and Wendy dismissed it though. I have a feeling this guy and his father, who is dead, are somehow very important and maybe even connected to Joanna somehow?
However we learned this week that the world does exist! Wendy and Joanna were banished by their father to earth, presumably along with other witches? Joanna has a husband who also was banished, and apparently lives nearby and always has. However he has had nothing to do with her or the girls for years. We also learned they have a son Fredrick who was left behind in Asgard. Interesting! Was he really? Or has their father found a way to bring him over and been hiding him from Joanna?
Athena is after a serpent key that Joanna has, but seemingly destroyed in this episode. It will open the portal to Asgard. This is what her father was trying to do, to return them to their homeland. However they’ve been banished, why we don’t know, so presumably they can’t return even if they did open the door.
In the latest episode Athena stole Freya’s power for some reason, presumably to kill Joanna and open the portal to the other world?
I may have to look into reading these books, or adding them to the long list of books I need to read. Still gotta read the rest of the “Pretty Little Liars” books, still gotta read “Under the Dome.” I’m thinking my annual vacation in January will involve a lot of reading!
Spoilers for the finale two episodes of the season below!
