Fall 2015 Weekly Update: Week 2ish . . .

Fall 2015 Weekly Update: Week 2ish . . .

Posted by Dustin on 10.04.2015 at 5:37 pm

So this is another week-of-shows-in-one post. I’ve been very busy lately, and hope to eventually get back to more individualistic show-by-show posts, but this is the easiest way for me to do this right now and not fall behind. Oh, and I’m already behind! I still haven’t caught up on “Heroes Reborn,” and I’m 2/3 of the way through season one of “How To Get Away With Murder.” For those asking about “Scandal,” I kept trying to like that show but never got into it. Maybe next summer I’ll binge watch it!

This week “American Horror Story: Hotel” debuts, along with the return of “Grim.” I’m looking forward to both!

I never commented on the end of “Big Brother 17” or “Under the Dome,” because frankly both sucked. I actually stopped watching “Big Brother,” worst season and cast ever! As for “Under The Dome,” just what the hell? Clearly they were still hopeful for another season, but given the whole alien invasion crap, I don’t know why. What a way to blow what was a good show.

Onto “Castle,” I’m glad they quickly resolved this secret agent Beckett storyline, but with her as Captain now I wonder how involved she will be with the day to day cases. It will definitely be interesting to see where they go with things this season.

“Gotham” has been getting better and better. I love the villains, and am wondering what or who Barbara will become. It almost seems they are setting her up to be Harley Quinn. I love that they’ve brought Lucious Fox in to help Bruce become Batman, along with Alfred.

“Grey’s” was just okay this week. I like seeing more of Miranda, but I just don’t know where they will take things this year. Amelia and Owen are great, but they aren’t the new MerDer. I also am glad that Jackson is not just taking April back after the crap she’s been pulling.

I have to wonder how long before Rayna signs her kids to her label on “Nashville,” as it seems they could help save it for her. Watching Juliette spiral out of control is terribly fun, and I can’t believe Luke dropped Will like that. For shame!

I really enjoyed the season premiere of “Once,” especially the reversal of roles with Emma and Regina. However, another fricken missing time/memories curse? Come on! There are only so many times that stuff can be done.

I have been watching “Project Runway,” I just had forgotten to comment on it. Its pretty obvious Edmund, Ashley and Candice will be the final three, unless something insane happens.

“Scream Queens” is still my favorite show of the season so far, likely because of the newness of it. I loved the transformation of Leah Michelle’s character into Channel #6. I still am lost on who the killer is, other than it seems there are two, and Nick Jonas character is working with the original.

“Sleepy Hollow” returned this week, and I for one am glad the Henry/Katrina arch has ended. That was becoming tedious, and frankly standing in the way of any romance between Ichabod and Mills. Though that won’t happen soon, as it’s usually the death of these types of shows. I do like that they’ve been able to craft a whole new storyline for them as witnesses.

Nearly The End Of Summer Shows’ Thoughts

Nearly The End Of Summer Shows’ Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 08.10.2015 at 12:39 pm

As usual just trying to keep up with some quick thoughts on the shows I’ve been watching!

Big Brother 17
Worst – season – ever. They’ve at least started fighting, but watching these people is dullsville.

Devious Maids
I feel really bad for Carmen getting all “Irene Cara’d” by her label. Maybe she can pull a Prince and change her name to a symbol. Meanwhile Zoila is also about to get the old heave-hoe thanks to Genevieve’s new guy, who I hate. Go back to announcing the dog show dude! Loved that they had Spence counceling Taylor and not screwing her, but what is Michael thinking fooling around with his ex? She’s insane! Maybe that’s it, she’s insane and he’s not doing anything. I hope so.

Extant
I’ve gone from loving the show again to tolerating it. Molly’s son is creepy, and the humanics are basically going all terminator. I can see that the humans will have to team up with the aliens most likely to get rid of the robot problem that is coming.

The Fosters
So it would appear the mystery of who hit the Fosters car has been solved, and it was the owner of the other car’s kid all along, who lied about it being stolen. I was so sure it would be AJ’s brother. Now poor Rita has been possibly set up by her Girls United for beating them. Her own actions with her daughter though make it seem possible that she is an abuser, but I think they just want us to think that.

Falling Skies
I’m hating the turn on the latest episode with the Virginia regimen going totally insane on Tom and his men. It seems obvious they are actually under alien control. Something is wrong with that female captain for sure. There aren’t many episodes left and they seem no closer to winding down when we began this season.

Mistresses
I HATE that Calysta and Joss have turned on one another. This makes me so sad. It’s obvious that either her male assistant or the model her hubby was screwing killed her husband. Karen getting pregnant is going to be interesting, and I still don’t care about April’s story. At least her daughter has the boyfriend/principal’s number.

Pretty Little Liars
I’m ready for the finale and the reveal of Charles, and if we don’t get a reveal then I may need a new TV from the things I throw at it!

Proof
Definitely liking the show a bit more now that we’re exploring the woman with the green scarf warning the Doc to stop looking. Ooh! What isn’t she supposed to find?

Under The Dome
It was clear that the end of the world was orchestrated and that the dome is now just a large TV set showing those inside what they want them to see. You know what I want to see? Pretty much the entire kinship wiped out.

The Whisperers
Like PLL, I hope we get some answers soon. I really dislike the president, who knows his kid has been a target of drill yet still wanted to jail the only people who have leads and a real connection on whatever or whoever drill is.

Zoo
I all but stopped watching this one. I just became bored and figured I’d do a marathon once it was over, if I cared enough to go back.

The Weekly Summer Round-Up Thoughts!

The Weekly Summer Round-Up Thoughts!

Posted by Dustin on 07.22.2015 at 7:56 pm

Big Brother 17
With Jeff out of the house, it’s one less bit of eye candy gone. I didn’t think I would be, but I’m not on the crazy dentist’s side. I hope he wins the whole thing given he’s been made the go to pawn. This week Audrey has at least finally brought some drama into the game. The feeds and after dark have been terribly boring.

Extant
I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying this show, even with all the changes. I’m pretty sure the ratings are still terrible and it won’t get a third season, so I’m enjoying it while it lasts.

The Fosters
I absolutely HATE this whole Callie and AJ romance. This is so “been there done that” on a show that isn’t that old. It’s Brandon all over. Nip it in the bud and move on. I still have this feeling that AJ’s brother is the one who hit the Fosters. Loved the last episode that dealt with Anna’s post-pardum, and glad they don’t have her using again. A re-cast Jesus will soon be showing up, but wish he wouldn’t. I don’t like the character and haven’t missed him at all.

Falling Skies
I’ve actually been digging this past season. Why did they take so long to get good again? Pope going crazy was long overdue. I hope Tom takes his ass out!

Mistresses
I’m still loving Calista’s character. She and Joss are owning this show right now so much that I honestly don’t miss Savy. Sure if they could bring her back I would love it, but I am shocked it’s still so good without her. Karen’s storyline is getting sticky, and something tells me the wife will end up dying and the husband will be left with tremendous guilt. April’s storyline, we can all see she’s going to end up with Zack at some point. As usual, boring!

Pretty Little Liars
This show is starting to annoy me. Every week it’s been someone different is A, and now we are back to, surprise, Charles! Charles is alive and is A. I’m thinking it’s either that Andrew guy, who was dismissed way too easily, or somehow it will be Ezra. If it’s Ezra then that would be a sick twist.

Proof
I’ve started watching TNT’s “Proof” and really enjoy it, I’m just not sure where it’s going. Some episodes have been better than others, but it seems to be lacking a story stringing them together other than the main character’s own near death experience.

Under The Dome
Please let this be the last season, as this show has become awful. It’s now just “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” meets “The Stepford Wives.” I expect better than re-hashed movies from something based on Steven King’s work.

The Whisperers
So we learned Drill, or someone like him, has been on earth before. Basically Drill’s planet is dying (ala E.T.) and they seem to try and be invading earth so they can live here. I’m going to hang in there, but this show needs to amp it up a little. It needs to get away from the E.T. similarities. Ooh, E.T. is bad this time so it’s very different. Not really!

Zoo
I started watching this mini-series event, which I felt started out strong, but now I’m a little tired of it. I hope this doesn’t become a new series like “Under the Dome,” which also started out as a one season mini-series event too. End it on a high note please!

The Whisperers and Under The Dome Thoughts and Spoilers

The Whisperers and Under The Dome Thoughts and Spoilers

Posted by Dustin on 07.12.2015 at 7:49 pm

I’m really loving “The Whisperers” on ABC still, and the last episode where Drill showed himself to be some kind of energy form was great. They are heavily hinting that Drill is an alien, and he needs an energy source to feed on, which is the glowing thing they found in the desert. The kids also mentioned that Drill misses his family. Is he a stranded alien? Is he trying to bring his family home? I’m feel like this could very easily be a reinvention of Disney’s “Watcher in the Woods,” which was based on a book about an alien child that got trapped on earth during an inter-dimensional field trip. Disney totally changed the story from the book when they made it into their classic 80s scary movie. I actually wrote a blog post a few years ago recapping the differences between the Watcher in the Woods movie and the book.

Over the “Under the Dome,” I’m honestly only watching this for the eye candy and to see it through to the end. So far this season has been horrible. This too looks like some kind of alien life force invasion that is ripping of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” at this point. I also hate that we keep going from hating Big Jim to rooting for him.

Spoilers for the next episodes of both shows below . . .

June/July Show Thoughts – A Mixed Bag

June/July Show Thoughts – A Mixed Bag

Posted by Dustin on 07.05.2015 at 5:52 pm

Trying to keep up with everything, really quick thoughts on everything I’m watching . . .

Big Brother 17
I’m just not feeling this season. I keep watching and hope I’ll get hooked by something, anything. So glad Jace is gone and really want The Rockstar Dentist to go too!

Extant
I actually really enjoyed the reboot and where they are taking it, but her husband’s partner . . . ohhhh she is a witch!

The Fosters
I’m not digging that Callie is into yet another one of her foster brothers. Definitely feel bad for Brandon getting the boot from his camp.

Falling Skies
I have yet to see the season premier, I tried real hard to watch last weekend but couldn’t get into it. I’ve meant to watch it again all week.

Mistresses
Absolutely loving the new character Calista! She’s great. April’s story is still the weakest, and Karen’s is just another twist on her story from the first season.

Pretty Little Liars
I don’t think Charle’s is dead and if Sarah isn’t Charles, then she is on his team. Though the last show seemed to try and make it seem like she couldn’t be Charles . . .

Under The Dome
So It seems we are back to aliens are behind the dome and trying to take over the Earth again. That’s the only thing I can think with the whole “hive mentality” they have going on.

The Whisperers
Like with UTD, I am back to thinking Drill is an alien force.

Under The Dome Season 3 Premiere. Plus Spoilers!

Under The Dome Season 3 Premiere. Plus Spoilers!

Posted by Dustin on 06.25.2015 at 10:06 pm

So “Under The Dome” had a two hour premiere tonight. What did we learn about the dome? Did the people get free? Those are good questions, the first of which we still don’t have answers to! It seems nobody actually escaped the dome as we thought they did, but were held in these cocoons in the tunnels by Melanie, who created a false world for them. Barbie’s father returned the egg to Melanie, only to get killed for it. Julia and Big Jim, the only people who didn’t get sucked into Melanie’s fake world, finally freed everyone by the end of the episode. Melanie claimed they didn’t understand what they were doing, but Big Jim & Julia didn’t care. Big Jim shattered the egg, which opened all the cocoons. Unfortunately two new people came out of two of the cocoons. Christine (Marg Helgenberger) and Eva (Kylie Bunbury) were in the fake world Melanie created for the people of Chester’s Mill, and seemed to be part of the whole conspiracy to keep everyone trapped in that fake world. Now however they are trapped in the dome too. Who are they? Where did they come from? That’s a good question. Something tells me they may work for the company that Barbie’s father was a part of, and now Eric La Salle (“ER”) seems to be in charge of. That dude was a dick on “ER,” and he’s a dick on this show too!

Honestly, I feel like that was two hours of my life I’ll never get back. Hopefully the promos promising all will be revealed this season aren’t full of it, because I don’t know how much longer I can hang onto this show that seems to be going nowhere.

Spoilers for the next two shows below!

Summer Lovin TV.

Summer Lovin TV.

Posted by Dustin on 06.01.2015 at 8:38 am

Holy cannoli! I can’t believe it’s June 1st already. I still have to get so many season finally thoughts written up. This has been a busy year for me and my blogs slacked.

Anyways, here’s some of the shows I’m planning on watching this summer, some of which return starting tonight! I’m sure there are more I may add, I just can’t think of them off hand. I’m also waiting for the “How To Get Away With Murder” DVD of season 1 to come out to binge watch it.

Devious Maids – Season 3 premieres Monday June 1st (new day and time!)

The Whisperers – Season premiere tonight June 1st on ABC. I’m hoping this doesn’t suck too much.

Pretty Little Liars – New season Tuesday June 2nd! I can’t wait after the big twist if the twin twist.

Mistresses – Season 3 premiere Thursday June 18th. Here is hoping the show can carry on without Alissa/Savy and still do well.

Under the Dome – Season 3 premiere Thursday June 25th. They say we will finally get answers this season!

Extant – Season 2 premieres July 1st. I don’t know where this one will go after last year’s finale.

Big Brother 17 – Premieres June 25th on CBS. I’m not sure why I still watch this, other than it’s fun to talk about on social media.

TNT’s Falling Skies – Final season premieres June 28th. I honestly didn’t finish last season, because it was so boring. I should probably get on that.

Let me know what you plan on watching this summer!

Renewals And Cancellations . . . Plus Summer Shows!

Renewals And Cancellations . . . Plus Summer Shows!

Posted by Dustin on 05.08.2015 at 9:51 am

With the end of the season upon us, lots of shows are being canned or renewed. ABC has put the nail in the coffin for “Resurrection,” so we will never get answers to that one.

“Castle,” “Nashville,” “Once Upon A Time,” “Secrets and Lies” and everything Shonda Rhimes does is coming back.

If you were fan of “Forever,” it’s gone forever sadly.

I’m really glad about “Nashville,” we knew “Once” was coming back, and am surprised about “Secrets and Lies.” I don’t know where they will take it. Will Abby kill again?

This summer I’m looking forward to the return of “Mistresses” and plan to give “The Whisperers” a shot, though ABC horror shows never seem to go over well. They are great, but always last one season. Speaking of horror, I’m looking forward to “Under The Dome” returning as well.

Under The Dome’s WTF Season Two Finale!

Under The Dome’s WTF Season Two Finale!

Posted by Dustin on 09.23.2014 at 7:36 pm

Holy crap! What was with that finale for “Under The Dome” last night? We sure as hell better get a season 3, or at least a 2-part 2-hour movie to close this show out after that. Let’s discuss!

So Big Jim finally, after all this time, just lost it. Thanks to Lyle going nuts and stabbing Pauline, he was sent overboard. He killed Lyle. That I was okay with, Lyle should have died long ago. Long story short, Pauline was pretty much a goner and they had just discovered a time sensitive way out of the dome. Jim was doing everything he could to save her, even though her brother Sam said she likely wouldn’t make it. Pauline begged Rebecca to overdose her as she knew she was going to die, the dome showed her. Rebecca did, which was the end for her. Jim went insane and killed Rebecca. Man, I had just started to like her too! Then he went and killed Hoyt’s Mama from “True Blood” and tried to kill Julia. He was on a mission to make the dome pay, or give him back Pauline.

Meanwhile under the old egg crater the kids found a passage way, another cavern, and butterflies returned to apparently show them the way. Pauline, before she died, said the dome chose Julia and another man to save this town, though she didn’t see his face. Julia was sure this man was Barbie. I was immediately skeptical because that seemed too easy. However Barbie led the whole town down there, which by the way suddenly seemed like a lot less people than before. Did 3/4 of the town die in the cold frost? Julia and Jr. got trapped behind by an earthquake and a chasm. Barbie swore he’d return for her. Big Jim was shot by Jr, but it wasn’t a fatal wound, so he still on the side with them and crazed.

Barbie led everyone to a dead end, but led by a butterfly his hand print opened a secret passage. So perhaps he is who the dome spoke of? I’m not convinced yet. The rock wall opened to a blue light where Melanie reappeared, after she had disappeared into the crater a few episodes ago. She said “I am going to lead us home.”

Riiiiggghhhhtttt! Why do I have the feeling Melanie is not taking them to their home, but the dome’s home? Or the creators of the dome’s home. They are going to end up someplace even worse I’m sure. Meanwhile Jr and Julia are stuck in the ever-collapsing dome with Big Jim. I have to say at this point there is no way they can try and redeem his character again. So I guess Rebecca’s death was not in vein. Hopefully we will see the end of Big Jim finally.

Tell me your thoughts! Where does the blue light lead?
