Catching up on Fall TV . . .

Catching up on Fall TV . . .

As always I keep meaning to post more, I’ve just been stressed, overworked, and have some personal issues going on. But let’s get to some quick thoughts on TV!

“American Horror Story” is so bizarre, but I love it. I just can’t figure half of it out, but each show reveals just a little bit more. I wish we’d get more focus on the Ten Commandments killer, and it looks like we may with the upcoming Halloween episodes.

I’m still enjoying “Castle,” I just don’t know how much longer the show can go on. The mysteries are still fresh, but the Rick and Kate drama is getting old.

I’m so glad Paula went home on “DWTS.” That Vogue routine was the worst! She just stood there and waved a fan. WTF?

“Gotham” is getting really good with the war between the Galavan family and the Waynes, and their history having been explained. Very interesting! I also can’t wait for “Supergirl” which begins tomorrow.

I like that they brought in Derek’s “killer” on “Grey’s Anatomy.” This should be really interesting. I’m glad Meredith told Amelia off. I always liked the character until recently when she became all about herself. Me me me! Thank you Meredith for telling her to shut the hell up as she wasn’t the only one who lost Derek.

Honestly I have not watched anymore of “Heroes Reborn” since the 2 hour pilot. It was slow and bored me. I have the episodes on my DVR to play catch-up on still.

I’m so loving “Nashville.” It’s one of the top shows I look forward to every week. I loved Rayna and Layla bonding this past week. Jeff needs to go! He is a sleaze! I’m glad to see him on the show more and that he hasn’t left due to “Scream Queens.” Juliette is about to take a leave of absence from the show, and it seems they are setting her up to go to the crazy house for a bit. She definitely needs to get some help. I still want more focus on Will.

“Once Upon A Time” has been amazing this season. I love the twist that Arthur is evil. As I write this I haven’t watched tonight’s episode, but will shortly.

“Scream Queens” is amazing as always. It seems the one older returned Kappa Kappa Kappa member is one of the killers, but who is the other she is working with? Why do I feel she has a connection to the woman who died giving birth to Grace, and is that woman is Grace’s mother? Abigail Breslin’s “Chanel” mentioned she was a legacy and had to be taken in, so I’m thinking she’s connected to the dead mother via her own mother.

“Sleepy Hollow” has been enjoyable, but I’m starting to wonder if we are going to have a new main villain every season from here on out given this whole trial of the witnesses.

“The Flash” has been great, and I love the addition of Teddy Sears as alternate Earth Flash. Can we keep him around, as he is so good looking! It looks like from the previews that Firestorm is going to be reborn, but I want the original actor back in the role of Ronnie Raymond! It seems the actor moved on to the new “X-Files” though and had to be recast, or in this case killed and the character re-worked. Boo!

Fall 2015 Weekly Update: Week 2ish . . .

Fall 2015 Weekly Update: Week 2ish . . .

Posted by Dustin on 10.04.2015 at 5:37 pm

So this is another week-of-shows-in-one post. I’ve been very busy lately, and hope to eventually get back to more individualistic show-by-show posts, but this is the easiest way for me to do this right now and not fall behind. Oh, and I’m already behind! I still haven’t caught up on “Heroes Reborn,” and I’m 2/3 of the way through season one of “How To Get Away With Murder.” For those asking about “Scandal,” I kept trying to like that show but never got into it. Maybe next summer I’ll binge watch it!

This week “American Horror Story: Hotel” debuts, along with the return of “Grim.” I’m looking forward to both!

I never commented on the end of “Big Brother 17” or “Under the Dome,” because frankly both sucked. I actually stopped watching “Big Brother,” worst season and cast ever! As for “Under The Dome,” just what the hell? Clearly they were still hopeful for another season, but given the whole alien invasion crap, I don’t know why. What a way to blow what was a good show.

Onto “Castle,” I’m glad they quickly resolved this secret agent Beckett storyline, but with her as Captain now I wonder how involved she will be with the day to day cases. It will definitely be interesting to see where they go with things this season.

“Gotham” has been getting better and better. I love the villains, and am wondering what or who Barbara will become. It almost seems they are setting her up to be Harley Quinn. I love that they’ve brought Lucious Fox in to help Bruce become Batman, along with Alfred.

“Grey’s” was just okay this week. I like seeing more of Miranda, but I just don’t know where they will take things this year. Amelia and Owen are great, but they aren’t the new MerDer. I also am glad that Jackson is not just taking April back after the crap she’s been pulling.

I have to wonder how long before Rayna signs her kids to her label on “Nashville,” as it seems they could help save it for her. Watching Juliette spiral out of control is terribly fun, and I can’t believe Luke dropped Will like that. For shame!

I really enjoyed the season premiere of “Once,” especially the reversal of roles with Emma and Regina. However, another fricken missing time/memories curse? Come on! There are only so many times that stuff can be done.

I have been watching “Project Runway,” I just had forgotten to comment on it. Its pretty obvious Edmund, Ashley and Candice will be the final three, unless something insane happens.

“Scream Queens” is still my favorite show of the season so far, likely because of the newness of it. I loved the transformation of Leah Michelle’s character into Channel #6. I still am lost on who the killer is, other than it seems there are two, and Nick Jonas character is working with the original.

“Sleepy Hollow” returned this week, and I for one am glad the Henry/Katrina arch has ended. That was becoming tedious, and frankly standing in the way of any romance between Ichabod and Mills. Though that won’t happen soon, as it’s usually the death of these types of shows. I do like that they’ve been able to craft a whole new storyline for them as witnesses.

A Smorgasbord of Finale Thoughts.

A Smorgasbord of Finale Thoughts.

Posted by Dustin on 06.03.2015 at 11:48 am

So I fell way behind with my blog this past year, mainly due to an increase in my hours working. I’m going to try and get back into the routine this summer and not lose it when the fall comes back around! This post is to give my quick thoughts on many of the finales for the shows I watch. It’s been awhile for some, so I’m doing my best to recall what happened.

Grey’s Anatomy
I’m still furious that they killed of McDreamy, but at least Meredith, her sister and Amelia all ended up in a good place with one another by the end of the season. Meredith moving back to her old house was a great idea too. As for Jackson and April, I hope they work things out.

Grimmm
I’m stunned they actually killed off Juliette, but was glad the did so as she became a real witch. It seems she really is dead, or the show really wants us to believe that for now. Her death also opens up the possibility of something between Adalind and Nick. I am confused as to if Adalind has lost her powers again though. Meanwhile that weird organization seems to be after Truble, but I can’t help but worry she’s already working with them and called them in.

Nashville
It looks like Deacon’s sister Bev is a goner, as I refuse to believe they will kill Deacon off the show. The arrest of Teddy was shocking, though not as shocking as the fact that Tandy was the real mastermind behind many of her father’s dirty dealings. I wonder if this means she’ll return next year? I loved that Will finally came out of the closet. It’s about time! Juliette’s story was heartbreaking, and I can’t believe that witch betrayed Rayna by going to Jeff.

Sleepy Hollow
The death of Ichabod’s wife Katrina was just as fulfilling as Juliette on Grimm. What’s with these good girls gone bad? Jeremy also got his it would seem, after taking out Molloch. I’m not sure who there is to be the next big bad now? Old headless?

Gotham
I watched “Gotham” this season, but honestly near the end of the season started to lose interest. The final few shows with the discovery of the batcave and the bloodbath amongst the mobsters was really good though.

The Flash
“The Flash” was probably my favorite new show all year, and one of my favorites period. I loved the characters, and the villains, and cannot wait for it to return. Given they killed erased Wells from history, well his imposter, I can’t help but wonder what repercussions throughout time that will create. There basically should be no Flash right now, as Well’s created him! This is a possible way to bring back the real Wells if they want to though.

The Returned & Bates Motel
I completely lost interest in these two A&E shows. I do want to try and finish “The Returned” at some point this summer, as well as watch the original French version. I did see the final few episodes of “Bates,” especially after hearing about the pivotal final scene.

Winter Finale Smorgasbord Post.

Winter Finale Smorgasbord Post.

Posted by Dustin on 01.03.2015 at 1:34 am

So this is my very overdue post on my quick thoughts on bunches of shows and their Winter finales. Between work and getting sick and then the holidays I just didn’t get to it as soon as I had planned to. Of note I’m heading out on my January vacation. Not too many shows are coming back yet though, but some are. “Pretty Little Liars” is starting up again, as is “American Horror Story,” and ABC is airing “Galavant.” The later I’m worried about since they turned an 8 week series into a 4 week one to just get it over with quicker. Yeah that probably isn’t a good sign.

American Horror Story
I’m just really disappointed with this show overall this season. As I said before, it really has just become nothing more that a shock-fest at this point. It’s hard to care about most of these characters, and the ones you do care for like Ma Petite get offed. I seriously can’t believe they killed her! However even the emotion I felt for her death can’t really save this season.

Constantine
I really enjoy this show and the episode with the fallen angel they had to save was the best of the season because of the twist within. I seriously hope NBC doesn’t cancel this one.

Gotham
This show still has my interest, though I really want an injection of some kind of masked villain or hero at this point. I feel like they aren’t using kid catwoman enough either.

Grey’s Anatomy
Once again Shonda has resorted to causing problems for Meredith and Derek. This far into the show I feel like that is just lazy writing she’s falling back on. We’ve watched too many seasons of that, just let them be happy and deal with other issues. I would also like to see Owen finally get a bit of happiness too. He’s just seemed so angry since Christina left.

Grimm
Grimm is probably my favorite show right now, it is really delivering every week. It looks like Nick’s mom may be making a return with the baby in the second half of the season. I’d really like to see Truble back at some point too. Poor Woo has gone off his rocker though, and who can blame him. Nick should have told him the truth long ago. OF course we know Monroe won’t be dying anytime soon, but what’s going on with poor Julia? Has she really become a hexenbeast?

The Flash
I’m officially adding “The Flash” to the blog. I think this is one of the best new shows of the year. I absolutely loved seeing Dr. Tina McGee reprise her role from the 90s version. I also can’t wait to see how they pull of Firestar, who is one of my favorite DC characters next to Wonder Woman. News has also dropped that Mark Hammill will reprise his role as The Trixter which he too played in the old 90s version. I just hope he doesn’t have that horrid spandex body suit.

Nashville
That mid-season finale was definitely one with some twists and turns I was not expecting. I kinda knew Rayna wouldn’t go through with the wedding, but I never saw an Avery and Juliette wedding that quick. Surprise! I’m also stunned at Deacon’s health issues, I wasn’t expecting those either. Meanwhile Jeff is up S-creek as it looks like Layla may be the latest casualty on the show. Would they really kill her off? Would anyone really care if they did might be a better question. Like Zoe she’s started to outlive her purpose.

Once Upon A Time
So it looks like we haven’t gotten rid of Anna and Elsa just yet, as they seem to now be stuck in Storybrooke with the others. I hope they don’t keep them around simply to keep cashing in on “Frozen.” The rise of the three bad girls looks to be good, and I love me some Maleficent! I loved Belle one-uping Rumple and commanding him to leave town with the dagger. Having to watch Robin leave to save Marianne was heartbreaking though. Poor Regina! At least they are back to looking for the book’s writer, but now Gold has that idea too. Oh boy.

Red Band Society
Red Band left us with a string of cliffhangers, and it looks like we may finally be facing the death of one of the kids. Hunter headed into surgery, Emma passed out at her house, and Jordi is now a drug dealer? Oy! I could do without Jordi’s illegal activities honestly.

Sleepy Hollow
Henry/Walter finally saw the light and turned on Mollock in what was a “effing finally!” moment. I was getting so sick of Henry’s bitching and moaning about his parents abandoning him. I really hope this doesn’t turn out to be a ploy though and he still ends up on the side of evil.

Sleepy Hollow Thoughts And Spoilers. Plus Gotham!

Sleepy Hollow Thoughts And Spoilers. Plus Gotham!

Posted by Dustin on 11.16.2014 at 6:14 pm

So while I’m still watching “Sleepy Hollow,” I feel the show has somewhat lost something. Many of the latest episodes seem to be coming off like a “Grimm” rip-off if you ask me. Henry comes up with a monster, sends him or her out to terrorize people, Abigail and Ichabod to the rescue! Not only is it very Grimmesque, it’s also been a bad ripoff of real monsters. The weeping woman was nothing but a spin on La Lorena. They at least kept the Wendigo grounded in Native American myths, but what was the point of Franklinstien? Also what happened to that thing now that I think about it.

The introduction of Matt Barr as the rogue Nick Hawley has been welcomed, but it also seems to be setting up yet another confusing love triangle. He clearly had something with Abbie’s sister, and now they are teasing something between him and Abbie. However we also have been teased that Ichabod and Katrina are drifting apart, leaving something to happen between Ichabod and Abbie. Oy!

I am still enjoying “Gotham,” which has gotten really good. I normally don’t get into mob/crime shows, but the superhero twist on it is what has dragged me in. I just wish they would introduce a little more of the superhero aspect into it at some point. I guess it’s hard to do that when Batman is 10 years old.

Spoilers for the next episodes for both shows below.

Gotham Thoughts + Spoilers! Sleepy Hollow Spoilers Too!

So “Gotham” has been given a full season on Fox, per news released today. I’m watching the show, but am not so sure about it. I’m enjoying it much more than ABC’s “Agents of Shield,” which I gave up on last year as I found it boring. So far though “The Flash” on CW is my favorite new superhero show. Gotham feels more like a crime drama than Batman, then again it is supposedly a prequel and more about Jim Gordon. It’s interesting to see how they are building up the villains, and I love Fish’s Catwoman like properties, even though she’s not Catwoman. The Penguin is just creepy, and we really haven’t even met the Joker yet. The Riddler, oddly, is working as a CSI guy for Gotham PD. Are you watching? What are your thoughts?

Spoilers for the next two “Gotham” shows below, along with some “Sleepy Hollow” spoilers!

Sleepy Hollow Spoilers + Thoughts!

So I’ve really been digging parts of the new season of “Sleepy Hollow,” others are making me want to scream. Henry is so evil that I want to see him die, but as he is Katrina and Crane’s son you don’t want that to happen. I also really am not happy that Katrina is stuck with the horseman. I do worry they will eventually get rid of her, or turn her evil, in order for Crane and Abby to get together. Finally the new Captain has to go. The horseman can take her head. Please, take it! I hate that Henry is using Captain Frank and corrupting him. He clearly tricked him into signing his soul away in the last episode. Boo! He’s been through so much as is.

Spoilers for the next three shows below!

Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Premiere September 22nd!

Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Premiere September 22nd!

Posted by Dustin on 09.21.2014 at 8:23 pm

I can’t believe premiere weeks are finally here. Fox and CBS are first out of the gate this week, with ABC also premiering some of their new and returning shows too. NBC has “The Voice” starting.

I HATE adding new shows to the blog, mainly as they always end up canceled. I am looking forward to “Gotham” on Fox though, and “Forever” on ABC, both which premiere Monday night.

However “Sleepy Hollow” is also back, and the spoilers for the Season 2 Premiere are below!

WAR HAS BEEN HERE ALL ALONG… ON THE SEASON TWO PREMIERE OF “SLEEPY HOLLOW” MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, ON FOX
Picking up immediately after the spellbinding events of the Season One finale, Ichabod finds himself buried alive in a coffin; Abbie is trapped in purgatory; Ichabod’s wife, Katrina, has been kidnapped by the Headless Horseman; Capt. Frank Irving is behind bars for a murder he did not commit; and Abbie’s sister, Jenny, is among the wreckage of a horrific car crash. These events were due, in large part, to the shocking revelation that Henry Parish, the trusted friend of Ichabod and Abbie, is actually Ichabod and Katrina’s son and the Second Horseman of the Apocalypse. Now, with Henry’s emergence as the Horseman of War, alongside the Headless Horseman, Sleepy Hollow has never been so close to destruction in the all-new “This Is War” Season Premiere episode of SLEEPY HOLLOW airing Monday, Sept. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (SLH-201) (TV-14 L, V)

ICHABOD AND ABBIE TRY TO GET A “HEAD” OF THE COMPETITION ON AN ALL-NEW “SLEEPY HOLLOW” MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, ON FOX
Ichabod Crane and Lt. Abbie Mills concoct a daring plan to try to rescue Ichabod’s wife, Katrina, from the Headless Horseman by resurrecting a Frankenstein-like monster created by Benjamin Franklin. Meanwhile, Frank Irving faces new trouble after revealing the true details of his encounter with a demon, and Jenny Mills finds herself at odds with the new sheriff in town in the all-new “The Kindred” episode of SLEEPY HOLLOW airing Monday, Sept. 29 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (SLH-202) (TV-14; L, V)

Sleepy Hallow Season Finale Thoughts

Sleepy Hallow Season Finale Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 01.21.2014 at 8:57 pm

So last night was the two hour finale of “Sleepy Hallow.” Don’t worry, the show is returning in this coming fall! However if you haven’t watched it yet, I would stop reading now.

For two seconds Ichabod actually wore modern clothes, but then couldn’t deal with the skinny jeans that Abby made him wear. I don’t blame him there! He has, however, become obsessed with phones. I absolutely loved when he told Abby that he needed a new phone, as his flip phone was obsolete! However then when he got a new phone, he had verbal battles with Siri, who wasn’t cooperating with him.

We learned that George Washington made himself a zombie in order to cross over, come back, and draw a map to purgatory that would be useful in stopping the Horseman, but should Malick get it that would be disastrous. Ichabod realized he could save Katrina with it, but destroyed it as to not risk the future of the world and stuff. However he has a photogenic memory, so he could recreate it. Of course he does!

Captain Irving’s paralyzed daughter got herself possessed by a demon, killed the priest that was trying to help her, and Irving claimed he killed the priest to protect his daughter and wife. Not sure where this one is going . . . However after all this time I never knew what his name was. Irving, clever! I know, I’m late to the game.

Abby and Ichabod rescued Katrina from purgatory, which I knew would eventually happen when in the second episode the witch said they banished her. I knew she, like Ichabod, wasn’t really dead. However someone had to take her place. Abby agreed to stay and face Malick. She trusted Ichabod would save her, and they shared a very intimate hug goodbye. Hmmm, I always felt by time he got Katrina rescued he’d have feelings for Abby. While nothing has been expressed, my guess even their goodbye made Katrina uneasy! That was one long and tight hug.

Ichabod and Katrina, back in the real world, tried to thwart the arrival of the second Horseman. They were about 20 years too late. Henry Parish, in a twist I should have seen but didn’t, turned out to be Jeremy, Ichabod and Katrina’s son! Malick rescued him from his grave, and of course he is War, the second Horseman of the Apocalypse. Abby and Jennifer saw Malick resurrect him as kids, this is the memories that Malick blocked from them and why they became Witnesses. Abby forgot, Jennifer didn’t but was tossed in an insane asylum. In the end Jeremy gave his mother to Abraham aka the Horseman who was originally betrothed to her, and then shut his father Ichabod up in his old grave.

What what what !?!?!?! Are you kidding me? Insane ending. I’m so glad this show is coming back!

Sleepy Hallow: The Horseman Rides Again!

Sleepy Hallow: The Horseman Rides Again!

Posted by Dustin on 11.05.2013 at 3:42 pm

“Sleepy Hallow” finally returned last night after a brief hiatus. Ichabod ended up being kidnapped by the Freemasons, who are also out to stop the Horseman. We learned it was the Masons that Katrina hid his body from way back when, as they knew killing him even then would also kill the horseman due to their blood link. Most of the show dealt with Ichabod’s past and how he met Katrina and turned on his country to fight for the side of the colonies during the revolution. Basically Ichabod, like Abby and Jennifer, has the gift to see demons as they really are.

Katrina meanwhile came to Abby in a vision to implore her to find a sin-eater to sever the ties between Ichabod and the Horseman. Okay I have to say that Katrina could have picked a better time to come to Abby. She almost got Abby killed sending her a vision while she was driving a car. How would that have helped Ichabod at all?

Renard’s missing brother from “Grimm” turned up as the head of the Masons who kidnapped Ichabod. They gave him poison to drink, and Ichabod did so willingly knowing it was what needed to be done to kill the horseman. However Abby, along with sis Jennifer, managed to find Walter from “Fringe” who was the sin-eater that could help Ichabod. Ichabod was tied to the horseman by a sin he carried around, not their blood. Letting that sin go, the death of someone he blamed himself for, is what freed him from the horseman.

Of course all this was fine and dandy, but now the horseman is back and coming. I was confused here, I thought he was already back? They kept talking like he just woke up tonight?

Also they kept making it a point that Ichabod and Abby are special as they both have the gift to “bear witness” and thus only they can destroy the horseman. Hello, her sister has that gift too I believe? Why is she suddenly left out?

It’s clear that Abby has feelings for Ichabod, and I think that will become a huge problem as I don’t think Katrina is really dead either. I think she’s trapped somewhere as one witch said a few episodes back. Her bones are definitely not in her grave, that’s where they found the horseman’s head.
