Leno And Vacation Updates
Posted by Dustin on 01.11.2010 at 12:04 pm
As most have heard by now, the “Jay Leno Show” at 10pm didn’t go as NBC planned. It will be moving back to 11:35-12:30, with Cohnan taking a 12:30-1:00am slot it seems (I haven’t heard if Cohnan officially accepted this or not yet, a little cut off right now!)
As for the site, I’ll get as many news releases out as I can. I saw “Ghost Whisperer” and “Medium,” so expect a write-up of them at some point. Unfortunately CBS is the only major network I have with an actual primetime line up for the next week. So I’ll have to play speedy catch-up on shows this weekend!

Yes it’s that time of the year again, my annual January vacation 🙂 It has already started actually. On Sunday I board a cruise ship for a week, with hopes to escape the cold weather. We’ll see if that happens as even Florida is having record cold temps!
The ship usually has current primetime TV showing at night . . . daytime TV not so much . . . but then again we don’t have to worry about seeing daytime daily anymore 🙂 However I usually am out at night partying, so I may not have thought posts on the returning shows this coming week until I get home and watch them on Tivo or online. Though I am going to make my best attempt at Thursday night cause I really wanna see the Grey’s/Practice return. Spoiler releases and any news I will do my best to keep up on. I’ll probably be tweeting more than normal so be sure to check the tweet side bar if you don’t usually. I already posted a few last night.

Ways To Follow This Blog . . .
Posted by Dustin on 08.09.2009 at 6:07 pm
I wanted to make a quick post on ways to follow the blog (aside from the web) as I’ve added a new feature this weekend.
Aside from visiting it via the web, the other “old school” way is to subscribe to the feeds. You can do this through a feed reader (Google, Feedburner for example) or simply bookmark in your browser the appropriate feeds. In the lower left corner under the “Meta” heading you can find the “Entries” and “Comments” feeds to bookmark via your browser (or add to a feed reader).
Months ago I set up a “Twitter” account which you can use to follow the blog. You can find my “Tweets” in the side bar on the left, as well as a link to the Twitter page there (to use to follow). Anytime a new blog post goes out, so does a tweet with the link (these don’t appear in the side bar though).
Finally this weekend I added a check box to the comments form for each post. If you submit a comment and check the box, you’ll be notified of additional comments to that post. You’ll get these via email, and there is a link in the emails to manage your post-subscriptions as well (should you not want to get further emails on a post). Every post times out and closes to new comments after 30 days of no new comments, so you won’t get random emails in a year via this plug-in 🙂
The only thing I haven’t added yet is a way to be notified via email for new posts (mainly cause twitter or a feed reader do just that).
Post Note: I had to remove the “email followup comments” temporarily. The plugins I tried weren’t working well, so I’m looking for a new one!
Post Post Note: In order to get the “email to followup comments” subscription working I had to change settings on the blog that require people to put a valid name/email into their posts to get a comment posted. I had this unchecked, but almost every blog/site uses it. Your emails are never posted publicly!

Currently I am at an academic conference. Bad timing with all the shows returning I know! I posted a lot of quick thoughts on Twitter about. “Private Practice”. You can view them in the side bar.
I have still to see “Grey’s” and “Harper’s.” I will get posts up ASAP.
Forgive my grammar and spelling. This was done over an iphone.
Twitter Added To The Blog
Posted by Dustin on 03.04.2009 at 2:41 am
I’ve added a Twitter account to/for the blog. It can be found in the side bar, under the shoutbox. There the latest “Tweets” are posted, as well as a link to the Twitter page here where you can follow me.
For those who don’t know, Twitter is a “micro-blogging” service. It allows users to prove a 140 character update of whatever they are doing at any moment. I use it regularly and admit I am addicted 🙂 I am testing it out for this blog for a bit to see how it goes. Because I’m not only trying to finish school this semester as well as working, I keep falling a few days behind with blogs for shows. I figured If I tweet while I’m watching, it can act as a go between till I get my full blog up.
Again it’s not meant to replace the blogs, just act as a fun in between type thing. For now I’m just testing to see how it goes. Additionally whenever I do post a blog, it will send a tweet out to those following me on twitter notifying you of a new post. Of course you have to have a twitter account to follow (except through the online link, you can read there for free without following).

Just a quick note. I am finally making my way home from my vacation today. Hopefully everything is on my tivo! I will probably be playing catch-up the next few days and doing a lot of 2 weeks of shows in one post deals.
TV Returns! Also, My Annual Vacation
Posted by Dustin on 01.03.2009 at 8:31 pm
First up, I hope everyone had a Happy New Year! Can you believe it’s 2009?
Television FINALLY begins returning this week. Sunday sees the return of ABC shows with “Housewives” and “Brothers and Sisters.” Also don’t forget “Private Practice” moves to Thursdays after “Grey’s” (Oy a three hour block on Thursdays with “Betty” as well!).
“American Idol” begins the 13th, can’t miss those auditions! With other shows I’ve watched in the can or on hiatus, as well as other shows moving (PP) I should be able to follow this, unlike “DWTS” which just had too much interference. Of course who knows what the talent will be like too, that as well as the rumored format changes could be a turn-off.
Some shows like “Heroes” and Medium” don’t come back till February, and April sees new mid-season shows like “Harper’s Island” on CBS. Then there are the return of shows I don’t cover like “Lost” and “Battle Star” Sorry Islanders and Cylon Wannabes! They are watched in my house, I just don’t have the history to either of them (they are too complex if you don’t remember the tiniest thing from season 1). Feel free to chat on the forums and post your own blogs/thoughts.
Finally, as luck would have it, my annual vacation happens to be this coming week right when shows are returning. This week I’ll be okay with seeing almost everything and I WILL do my best not to get too far behind. Thursday will be an issue, but I will have access to everything online and can watch on and off Friday. The week of the 12th I’ll be on a cruise ship, so whether I’m able to see the shows and when will depend on lots of things. They’ll all be on Tivo and I’m going to try my best to catch them on the ship as much as possible, but it will depend on the time they air them (which can be at wacky times) and if dinner interferes or anything else. Online watching the next day on a ship is of course out. Yet again I can see Thursday being the day that is going to kill me this week as well as this spring!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Seasons Greetings!

However you celebrate the season, have a good one!

Working To Get Caught Up!
Posted by Dustin on 10.30.2008 at 3:17 pm
Just a little note, lately I’ve been behind with show thoughts and stuff. I do apologize! Currently I’m in a crunch to write-up and turn in a bunch of school stuff; so that’s my priority. Aside from 2 shows last night, which I’m trying to watch at the moment online, I am actually caught up on viewing. One day I will be with writing as well 🙂 I’m thinking with the election next week, Monday and Tuesday will be out show-wise, so this will give me the opportunity I need to catch up and not fall further behind!
