The Secret Circle: Amazing Twist!

The Secret Circle: Amazing Twist!

Posted by Dustin on 04.27.2012 at 8:01 pm

Last night had an amazing twist on “The Secret Circle.” Just like “Ringer,” I REALLY hope the CW renews this show!

I’m absolutely heart broken that the show killed off Jane, and in the way they did. It definitely makes you realize Blackwell isn’t a good guy. Sure he hated Jane, but he could have saved her if he really wanted. Then again, they were about to kill him. However Jane was going to spare him when she realized he didn’t kill Amelia, and it was Charles who torched him (but really Jane because Blackwell reversed the spell) in order to save his own ass . . . he clearly didn’t want it known he killed Amelia!

The circle has been gathering all the crystals . . . but for what purpose? Blackwell has them thinking it’s the only way to kill the witch hunters, but Charles and Dawn seem to think that Blackwell is only using the new circle like he used theirs. Dawn has still been trying to get her powers back, but Charles was finally out. After finding out that Blackwell was Diana’s biological father, he planned to take her far away. Dawn thought that still wouldn’t keep her safe, they were still a bound circle! She said John Blackwell would find him.

The circle cornered the “traitor” at some amusement park, where he had killed many of the witch hunters. Cassie and Diana chased him down, while the others found his hide out. Jake noted that the traitor had a photo of his parents . . . why? As Cassie and Diana cornered the traitor they realized it was Nick!

So the big question is, is Nick really alive? HE was not killed in the books, this was a “twist” for the show, and the writers made it sound like it was for real when it happened. Is Nick just a zombie, someone being controlled by Eban?

Also in this episode Adam began to have feelings for Cassie once again. This could eventually undo all Blackwell has done!

Secret Circle: Blackwell Is A Bad Bad Man!

Secret Circle: Blackwell Is A Bad Bad Man!

So I realized it’s been a few weeks since I discussed “The Secret Circle.” What have we learned these past two weeks? That John Blackwell is not a good man, but possibly not as bad as Dawn yet.

We basically learned that he’s been lying to Cassie and the circle, a whole lot. For starters, he still has his powers. Not as many as he did, but he has them. He also used them to convince Cassie and Adam that they were cursed, and cursed the circle by being together. His trick work, and it drove them apart. A potion concocted to make them forget their love worked on Adam, but Cassie’s magic was too strong. So while Adam knows he once loved her, he doesn’t feel it anymore. Cassie has to pretend for everyone’s sake . . . .

So why’d he do it? He claimed that Adam and Cassie’s love would end up destroying the circle and making them all vulnerable . . . or something like that. So he did a bad thing, but supposedly for noble causes? Hmmmmmm . . . . Dawn didn’t seem to believe his answer too much either. She knows he has powers now, and that’s gonna piss her off to no end.

The latest episode returned to Eban and the witch hunters. We learned that Eban had basically gone mad. Not only does he have a witch working with him, he had gained powers from them. Now he was planning to summon deamons just like Blackwell did years ago in order to destroy the witches once and for all. This was learned from a witch hunter who was friends with Jake, who ran, because Eban was trying to sacrifice him to the deamons. Apparently to call them, a human must be killed.

John refuted to the kids that he killed anyone years ago, and explained to the circle that he did summon the demons to try and end the witch hunters, and it backfired badly on all. He told them they must stop Eban before he summoned them. As they had a showdown with Eban, John had no choice but to use his powers to save Cassie and the kids, showing his card to them. However he covered saying he couldn’t convince Cassie to stop using her dark magic, if he was still using his . . . . Hmmmmmm. . . .

Later, John told the circle he was wrong about not using his magic. He was wrong about hiding in fear. They had to face Eban and the hunters and come out to the world, so to speak. However none of them had the power to defeat Eban alone, but with their family’s crystals they could. He explained the history behind them, that originally they were one powerful crystal that the original elders feared, so they broke it into six. Each family got one . . . . If they could get them all and re-assemble them, they could beat Eban . . . .

The final moments of the show had John Blackwell returning to the field where the deamon summoning occurred. He dug up a body, presumably who he killed years ago and lied about . . . .

So the questions now are . . . .Who did John kill? I am assuming this will become important. Also is he being truthful about the crystals, or like Dawn and Charles, is this a lie just to get his hands on them? If it’s not a lie, they better hope bringing them together can recharge the ones Dawn and Charles have drained. Oh and of course, who is the witch working with Eban? I’m going to guess one of the kid’s dead parents also isn’t as dead as they think, and that’s who is working with Eban.

Also, the last two episodes have also had Diana meet this charming English bloke, who turned out to be a charming liar . . . but she’s giving him another chance. Mistake? I guess I suspect he’s going to turn out to be someone of importance somehow.

Secret Circle: La Da Da Dee Da!

Secret Circle: La Da Da Dee Da!

Posted by Dustin on 03.17.2012 at 7:39 pm

“The Secret Circle” finally returned this week, and more people learned Cassie’s father was alive and back in town. Dawn was of course taken aback, and tried to team up with Blackwell in order to get their powers back (Charles was not in this episode). Blackwell turned her down, saying he had changed. She didn’t seem convinced though.

Had he changed though? So far it seems he has. He tried to sway Cassie from using her powers at all, saying she’s too young, the dark magic will take her over as it did him. He didn’t tell her to stop practicing forever, just for now . . . while she can’t control things. Cassie of course didn’t listen. She thinks she can control her powers, that she’s not like her father.

Another person not happy at all with Blackwell’s return was Adam’s dad Ethan. Blackwell told Cassie that the night the witchunters attacked, the main hunter Eban was given a witches power from a witch, using an instrument known as a sway. Whoever helped Eban then, could be doing so now. It turned out back then it was Ethan, who wanted Blackwell gone so he could be with Cassie’s mom Amelia (remember he feels they were fated to be). Ethan even tried to kill Blackwell in this episode. I was really hoping they had set it all up, to draw out the real villian, but it seems it wasn’t a set-up. That Ethan really does have his own dark side. Blackwell even commented that what Ethan did back then, clearly has tormented him since as that’s why he drinks. Ethan claimed Amelia wanted him dead too, they were fated to be together just like Adam and Cassie. Blackwell looked shocked that Amelia never told him the truth, that being fated together isn’t having your destiny written in the stars . . . it’s more like having a curse upon you. Oh and Ethan isn’t working with the witch hunters now, which of course mean another witch is and is giving them their power . . . (though Ethan would have no power to give anyways).

The kids in this episode were caught up in some school fundraiser, which just made me laugh. The fund raiser was “Casino Night” and all the girls were parading around as the cocktail waitresses. Booze and gambling, great plan for a high school fund raiser! It’s about as silly as the fact that Cassie’s grandma is still away and nobody seems to concerned that she’s staying in her house alone now.

Voodoo Lee’s ex Eva was back, but Lee no longer wanted her. He went through all that work to bring her back from death, now he wants Faye, which didn’t sit too well with Eva. Apparently by transferring Faye’s blood to Eva, she got some of her magic? Because Eva has powers, and sucked the life right out of Lee by the end of the episode. I hope there is more to this than we know, because if all it takes is a little bit of blood and a spell . . . Dawn and Charles have been breaking their backs when they didn’t have to be.

Adam and Cassie finally made love as the show ended, but a swarm of crows hovered over the house . . . the curse called fate?

Secret Circle: The Medallion

Secret Circle: The Medallion

Posted by Dustin on 02.04.2012 at 7:52 pm

So just some thoughts, but first a bit of a recap, of the last episode of “The Secret Circle.”

The background story going on was that it was Adam’s birthday. His dad Ethan asked Diana to help plan a party for him at the Boathouse, and she agreed. Awkward much? Meanwhile Charles was furious with Dawn for trying to turn Ethan against him and playing all sides. Dawn said they were on the same side, to get their powers back. Charles however warned her not to cross him again.

Cassie found herself having feelings for both Adam and Jake. Jake she didn’t trust, and Adam . . . well there was still the Diana guilt there. Adam screwed himself over a bit though when he stole Cassie’s father’s medallion. He did it to keep her and the circle safe, as Cassie was convinced the medal was the key to fighting the witch hunters as her dad used it in the past.

A woman named Lucy showed up to see Cassie. Cassie recognized her from Jake’s memory, she was there the day of the fire. She’s shocked to learn Cassie has her father’s medallion, and that Blackwell is alive. She offers to help Cassie activate the medallion so she and the circle can use it to protect themselves.

Meanwhile Faye and Melissa are getting way too involved with the wrong crowd, Voodoo Daddy Boy Lee and his drug pushing friend Callum. Melissa gets hooked on this magical drug of Callum’s and keeps turning to him for it, thinking he reminds her of her dead boyfriend as well.

Lucy gathers the circle to activate the medallion, but the spell goes wrong. They realize it’s sucking their power out, much like the spell Faye did a few weeks back. Lucy admits she’s not on their side, she’s going to leave them vulnerable to the hunters basically. Cassie however gets so angry she remembers her father’s words that night and how to use the medallion. She almost lights Lucy on fire, but lets her live. She tells her to tell the hunters they have the medallion and know how to use it!

Before Lucy can leave town, Dawn confronted her. Dawn marked her years ago so she’d know if Lucy ever returned. Lucy was supposed to be on their side, she was supposed to protect them from the hunters. Lucy tells Dawn she was never on their side and stabs Dawn, leaving her to die. Charles, however, who drugged and stole Ethan’s crystal, shows up and saves Dawn with it.

The end had Cassie in her house using her magic and suddenly sensed her father. Meanwhile Lucy met with one of the witch hunter elders. She warned him that Cassie has the medallion and is more powerful than they ever could have thought. He says people keep telling him this, he’ll have to see for himself. He then kills Lucy!

My Thoughts . . .

Why does Charles hang out with Dawn at all anymore, let alone save her life! She is worthless. Sure she’s a great schemer, but it’s Charles doing all the work here. Not only that, but these crystals they are so desperate to get? It seems they waste most of the magic cleaning up Dawn’s messes. Why didn’t he let her die?

I got the feeling that much like with Jake, Cassie’s spell at the end of the show may have summoned her father?

I can’t wait to see her dad return. Things with the adults should get very interesting! I tried looking through my older comments, but couldn’t find it. I swear there was a show that either Jane or Diana’s grandma had made a comment about Diana’s mother having a thing for Cassie’s dad at one time. It made me ponder whether they were sisters and never knew? That could get really interesting! I could see Diana slowly going bad, driven by her dark magic.

I wish the adults (Dawn, Charles) would stop picking on poor Ethan. He needs to get a backbone. I hope John doesn’t treat him like crap when he shows up.

Let’s get Grandma Jane back onto the scene. I miss her, and she was the only one with the power to stand up to some of these people who need to be put in their places.

Spoilers for the next two episodes below!

Catching Up With The Secret Circle Gang!

Catching Up With The Secret Circle Gang!

Posted by Dustin on 01.26.2012 at 10:05 pm

So I realized I hadn’t written about “The Secret Circle” since before I left for my cruise. This post discusses some of my thoughts on the last few episodes. The show is on hiatus this week and returns February 2nd (I’ll post some spoilers this weekend . . . . though I hate to because that means I have to read/edit them and I so enjoy this show without them!)

Faye made a deal with a Voodoo Priest named Lee to try and get her own powers back, but it came at the cost of the circle. Lee turned out to be a con-artist, his grandparents were the real voodoo priests, he was a joke basically. He could do the spells, but wasn’t as knowledgable as them. Faye got crucified by her circle for what she did, but part of me was for her when she lashed back at them. They’ve all forgiven Cassie for her mishaps, but roast her. Okay yeah, Cassie didn’t mean to do the things she did, Faye did. Sure Faye’s not perfect, but she did have a point, and she didn’t know she was stealing from all of them (she thought it was just Cassie, not that it makes what she did better). I guess I just like her cause she’s exciting, and she has been labeled the trouble maker . . . even if she is 🙂

Faye isn’t done with Lee just yet. She keeps seeing him, and him her . . . but we know he has bigger plans. Something tells me he is somehow after her powers and may plan a sacrifice in the future . . . I guess Faye’s karma will bite her in the ass sooner or later.

One thing I loved about Faye screwing the others was Melissa and Diana bonding. We learned they were good friends, until Melissa started hanging out with Faye. I love Melissa, I just wish she had a bigger part in the show. She seems to just be the side kick so far.

Jake was back, thanks to Cassie’s spell, but he lurked about until this latest episode. Jake finally came out of the shadows, and told Cassie that they had to find out what happened the night their parents died. He was a toddler and there, so they could use a spell to see his memories. I was honestly a little confused. I thought they were high school students when they died? Seemed more like they were in college from the flashbacks!

But anyways, a huge twist I never saw coming, though of course I never read the books! The fire on the boat was not the circles doing, but started by witch hunters who were trying to kill Cassie’s father. The twist happened when he vanished! He escaped before being executed! The news had broke before this episode that “Dr. Quinn” heartthrob Joe Lando had been cast as Cassies father. Wait, he’s a bit old isn’t he? Guess not if he’s still alive! I had wondered how that would have worked. I thought maybe his ghost?

I absolutely love this twist . . . though what will this mean for the circle members who had their powers stripped after the accident? Will they be vindicated? Will they be returned? Dawn with powers . . . scary thought!

The Secret Circle: Darkness!

The Secret Circle: Darkness!

Posted by Dustin on 01.06.2012 at 1:56 pm

“The Secret Circle” returned this week, with Cassie exploring the source of her dark magic. Her grandma went off to a healing retreat, so she stayed with Diana.

Diana’s grandma, Charles’ mother, came to visit. She was stunned to learn Charles was dating Dawn, but admitted he always liked her in high school. However she didn’t trust Dawn, and with good reason. Dawn wanted to get rid of her just like the other Elders, paranoid she’d stop her plan to get her powers back. Charles once again put his foot down, and had finally had it with Dawn’s thirst for power at the expense of others. I’m liking Charles more and more and I see an inevitable face off between him and Dawn with only one surviving.

Diana’s grandma claimed to Cassie that she knew a spell that would draw her dark magic out, she could sense her struggling with it much as her father did. She said it consumed her father, but she could be saved. Cassie idiotically agreed to go off in the woods with her alone. Hello has this girl learned nothing so far? Diana’s grandma of course tried to kill her, but failed. Cassie’s magic was too strong, and she broke free of the box the woman buried her in to draw out the dark magic.

At the end of the show Diana’s grandma was planning to flee when Charles confronted her about what she did. She said she had to test Cassie, to see how strong she was. She said Cassie is “the one” they had been waiting for, the one who has the power to tip the scales forever between good and evil. Charles said the council must be told. However she told Charles she would do it, as she knew what he’d been up to . . . she could smell his magical trace all over Henry’s death and Cassie’s grandmas disappearance.

At the very end Cassie mentioned to Diana that while her dark powers scare her, the feeling of power excited her. Earlier in the show she cast a spell to bring Jake back, and at the very end we saw him standing outside her window looking in! I knew they would have to get him back somehow to complete the circle.

The other storyline had Faye seeking a spell to give her the ability to do her own magic without the circle. She found one and went to some kid voodoo practitioner for help. He conned her at first, but in the end agreed to really help her. But the previews for next week indicate it will be at a price. While her powers grow, she’ll be feeding off the other circle members. Uh oh!

I really liked meeting Diana’s grandma, and I hope we get to see more of the elders soon. I like the story lines with the adults as much as I do the kids. I really wanna see some flashbacks to their parents and what really happened long ago.

Secret Circle: Witch Hunters and Dark Magic

Secret Circle: Witch Hunters and Dark Magic

Posted by Dustin on 11.06.2011 at 6:23 pm

Next week is the Mid-Season-Finale of “Secret Circle.” WHAT! No new “Secret Circle” till 2012? How will I survive? This is one of my favorite new shows. Grrrr!

So last week was the Halloween episode, and this week the kids learned that Faye’s grandpa Henry is very dead.

During the Halloween episode, Jake and the witch hunters planned to finally kill off the circle. However at the last minute, Jake learned that Cassie had dark magic in her, and that meant his plan would fail. In fact one of the hunters was killed, the guy who initially seemed interested in Cassie when she first moved to town. He was a plant all along.

We learned Cassie’s father, John Blackwell, apparently has dark magic and this was passed to Cassie. This, and the fact that her mothers line goes back to the beginnings of witchcraft, makes her exceptionally powerful. So powerful that she can do magic without the need of the circle, but she doesn’t know how to control it.

Cassie’s grandma Jean went to check on Henry, and was clubbed over the back of the head by Charles. He drugged her and took Henry’s crystal from her. She was scrying over Henry with it to see what had happened to him I guess. Charles and Dawn used the crystal to erase her memory, but also control her. Charles it seems is onto Dawn, he is keeping the crystal for himself and has put Dawn in her place. Uh oh! That’s not going to go over well with Dawn. I can see these two turning on one another at some point.

Faye and the others learned about Henry’s death, but they don’t know who killed him yet. Jake meanwhile continues to stall the witch hunters from killing the circle, saying he has to learn more about Cassie to avoid another “accident.”

I can’t tell if Jake is falling for Cassie, and is stalling to try and save her, or not. Or is he more interested in her dark magic and has changed his original plans for her and the circle? They basically need Jake to complete the circle, but how can they trust him after all of this?

Secret Circle: The Circle Is Still Complete!

Secret Circle: The Circle Is Still Complete!

Posted by Dustin on 10.21.2011 at 7:08 pm

This week on “The Secret Circle” we learned that the circle is in fact still complete. It seems Nick, who is very very dead, has a brother named Jake. Jake was Faye’s ex, and pretty much hated all around town. However Cassie’s grandmother revealed that they didn’t just bind the circle between the six of them, but their bloodlines. So Jake still completes the circle.

We also learned even with a broken circle they still had powers, they just would never be at their strongest. So Jake was needed to fight off the evil coming their way. Cassie’s grandma revealed to her that her bloodline was the strongest, and she was born to lead. Grandma also gave her their families crystal, which would enhance her powers without the need for the circle . . . but she should never tell anyone about it . . . as it was the most coveted type of magic. Dawn and Charles, meanwhile, are trying to uncover other crystals to help restore their powers. Charles doesn’t seem to be the villain the pilot made him out to be. I think it’s really all Dawn and her controlling him.

Cassie’s Grandma made the mistake of revealing to Dawn that she knew about the circle, and they needed to watch over them. For now Dawn thinks Grandma is not a threat . . . Yeah this is going to spell trouble at some point.

We also learned the kids have more to worry about than just demons. A group of witch hunters is seeking them out. Unfortunately Jake has aligned with them, apparently wanting to eradicate witches to avenge his parents death.

Right now it seems Jake is just a guest star. Whether he’ll become a real cast member or not? Well they seem to indicate they need a complete circle to fight off the evil coming their way. So unless someone else has a secret sibling we don’t know about, it would have to be Jake?

Secret Circle: Down To Five?

Secret Circle: Down To Five?

Posted by Dustin on 10.14.2011 at 2:25 pm

So this week on “Secret Circle” we saw the demon from Heather take over Melissa, before eventually jumping into Nick.

Cassie realized the circle was in trouble and brought her grandma in, who appears to be a very powerful witch. However Nick ran off, and Charles and Dawn caught him. Dawn knew the demon, it appears her circle summoned it, and they clearly couldn’t control it. It vowed to destroy the new circle, so Charles drowned it . . . and Nick. Apparently it was a sure fire way to get rid of the demon.

So Nick is dead? Just like that? Now they once again have an incomplete circle. What does this mean? We learned what Charles and Dawn have been after, to have the new circle restore the powers stripped from them. But they apparently need six of those crystals, and the one they have is now dead . . . so it can’t show them were to find others.

If there are only five members now, can they even restore their powers? Or is Nick maybe not really dead? I also wondered what was up with the suitcase of snakes Melissa and Nick dug up from the woods.

In the end Cassie asked her grandma what happened that night on the boat with their parents. Even Grandma says she doesn’t know, her mom never told her. So the mystery continues . . . . Clearly the kids summoned that demon, who got out of hand. What did they want it to do though?
