Catching up on Fall TV . . .

Catching up on Fall TV . . .

As always I keep meaning to post more, I’ve just been stressed, overworked, and have some personal issues going on. But let’s get to some quick thoughts on TV!

“American Horror Story” is so bizarre, but I love it. I just can’t figure half of it out, but each show reveals just a little bit more. I wish we’d get more focus on the Ten Commandments killer, and it looks like we may with the upcoming Halloween episodes.

I’m still enjoying “Castle,” I just don’t know how much longer the show can go on. The mysteries are still fresh, but the Rick and Kate drama is getting old.

I’m so glad Paula went home on “DWTS.” That Vogue routine was the worst! She just stood there and waved a fan. WTF?

“Gotham” is getting really good with the war between the Galavan family and the Waynes, and their history having been explained. Very interesting! I also can’t wait for “Supergirl” which begins tomorrow.

I like that they brought in Derek’s “killer” on “Grey’s Anatomy.” This should be really interesting. I’m glad Meredith told Amelia off. I always liked the character until recently when she became all about herself. Me me me! Thank you Meredith for telling her to shut the hell up as she wasn’t the only one who lost Derek.

Honestly I have not watched anymore of “Heroes Reborn” since the 2 hour pilot. It was slow and bored me. I have the episodes on my DVR to play catch-up on still.

I’m so loving “Nashville.” It’s one of the top shows I look forward to every week. I loved Rayna and Layla bonding this past week. Jeff needs to go! He is a sleaze! I’m glad to see him on the show more and that he hasn’t left due to “Scream Queens.” Juliette is about to take a leave of absence from the show, and it seems they are setting her up to go to the crazy house for a bit. She definitely needs to get some help. I still want more focus on Will.

“Once Upon A Time” has been amazing this season. I love the twist that Arthur is evil. As I write this I haven’t watched tonight’s episode, but will shortly.

“Scream Queens” is amazing as always. It seems the one older returned Kappa Kappa Kappa member is one of the killers, but who is the other she is working with? Why do I feel she has a connection to the woman who died giving birth to Grace, and is that woman is Grace’s mother? Abigail Breslin’s “Chanel” mentioned she was a legacy and had to be taken in, so I’m thinking she’s connected to the dead mother via her own mother.

“Sleepy Hollow” has been enjoyable, but I’m starting to wonder if we are going to have a new main villain every season from here on out given this whole trial of the witnesses.

“The Flash” has been great, and I love the addition of Teddy Sears as alternate Earth Flash. Can we keep him around, as he is so good looking! It looks like from the previews that Firestorm is going to be reborn, but I want the original actor back in the role of Ronnie Raymond! It seems the actor moved on to the new “X-Files” though and had to be recast, or in this case killed and the character re-worked. Boo!

Mid-Week Thoughts: Fall Week 3 – Horror Story and More!

Mid-Week Thoughts: Fall Week 3 – Horror Story and More!

Posted by Dustin on 10.08.2015 at 6:53 pm

“American Horror Story Hotel” finally made its debut last night. For most of it I sat there thinking “What in the hell is going on?” It was stunningly beautiful, but confusing as hell. The last fifteen minutes really pulled almost everything together. Gaga and Boomer are vampires, living in the hotel, with a bunch of other freaks basically. I haven’t figured out Sarah Paulson’s character Sally yet. She was definitely killed by Kathy Bates, because Sally lured her son (Boomer) to the hotel and he overdosed on her drugs. For revenge she pushed Sally out a window, but then Gaga appeared and made Boomer her vampire lover. However Sally is still around. Is she a ghost? A vampire too? Or is she part of this weird butt-raping Addiction Demon? Of course Wes Bentley’s missing kid is also in the hotel, one of these weird vampire children of Gaga’s?

I’m still loving “Scream Queens,” mainly because of the insanely un-PC things said on it by Chanel. However I like the mystery involving the Red Devil’s identity and how it connects with the baby born 20 years ago in the Kappa house. I adored Lea Michelle this week, who played a character the complete opposite of Rachel Berry.

“Gotham” has been great, but I’m so bummed they killed the Joker figure. What the hell! He was the best thing going for this new season, and now he’s dead.

“The Flash” returned and introduced this season’s new villain pretty quickly in Zoom, another speedster nemesis of Barry Allen’s. I’m annoyed that they killed half of Firestar, but given he’s supposed to be part of a new spinoff show, I don’t think Ronny is as dead as we’ve been lead to believe.

“Once” was again good this week. I am dying to know what happened in Camelot that seems to have turned Emma against everyone and forced her to embrace her dark side. I’m loving seeing Regina get to finally be the hero, and the Charmings standing by her.

I finally started “Heroes Reborn” and so far am finding it a tad slow. I’m not yet sure where it’s going, and I have yet to reach the point of Hiro and Parkman’s introduction back into the show. I’m peeved that they killed Claire! I know she’s on another show, but totally un-necessary!

Speaking of Claire, over on “Nashville” her new alter-ego Juliette continues to spiral totally out of control. I love that Avery is finally ditching her. I kept worrying something might happen between Luke and Juliette, but fortunately it didn’t. It seems Teddy is in fact going to be off the show for awhile as he gets himself redeemed in prison. Watching Scarlet have to take her mom of life support was heartbreaking, but I’m so happy it was Gunnar she turned to. She needs to ditch the boring doc and get back with Gunnar.

Fall 2015 Weekly Update: Week 2ish . . .

Fall 2015 Weekly Update: Week 2ish . . .

Posted by Dustin on 10.04.2015 at 5:37 pm

So this is another week-of-shows-in-one post. I’ve been very busy lately, and hope to eventually get back to more individualistic show-by-show posts, but this is the easiest way for me to do this right now and not fall behind. Oh, and I’m already behind! I still haven’t caught up on “Heroes Reborn,” and I’m 2/3 of the way through season one of “How To Get Away With Murder.” For those asking about “Scandal,” I kept trying to like that show but never got into it. Maybe next summer I’ll binge watch it!

This week “American Horror Story: Hotel” debuts, along with the return of “Grim.” I’m looking forward to both!

I never commented on the end of “Big Brother 17” or “Under the Dome,” because frankly both sucked. I actually stopped watching “Big Brother,” worst season and cast ever! As for “Under The Dome,” just what the hell? Clearly they were still hopeful for another season, but given the whole alien invasion crap, I don’t know why. What a way to blow what was a good show.

Onto “Castle,” I’m glad they quickly resolved this secret agent Beckett storyline, but with her as Captain now I wonder how involved she will be with the day to day cases. It will definitely be interesting to see where they go with things this season.

“Gotham” has been getting better and better. I love the villains, and am wondering what or who Barbara will become. It almost seems they are setting her up to be Harley Quinn. I love that they’ve brought Lucious Fox in to help Bruce become Batman, along with Alfred.

“Grey’s” was just okay this week. I like seeing more of Miranda, but I just don’t know where they will take things this year. Amelia and Owen are great, but they aren’t the new MerDer. I also am glad that Jackson is not just taking April back after the crap she’s been pulling.

I have to wonder how long before Rayna signs her kids to her label on “Nashville,” as it seems they could help save it for her. Watching Juliette spiral out of control is terribly fun, and I can’t believe Luke dropped Will like that. For shame!

I really enjoyed the season premiere of “Once,” especially the reversal of roles with Emma and Regina. However, another fricken missing time/memories curse? Come on! There are only so many times that stuff can be done.

I have been watching “Project Runway,” I just had forgotten to comment on it. Its pretty obvious Edmund, Ashley and Candice will be the final three, unless something insane happens.

“Scream Queens” is still my favorite show of the season so far, likely because of the newness of it. I loved the transformation of Leah Michelle’s character into Channel #6. I still am lost on who the killer is, other than it seems there are two, and Nick Jonas character is working with the original.

“Sleepy Hollow” returned this week, and I for one am glad the Henry/Katrina arch has ended. That was becoming tedious, and frankly standing in the way of any romance between Ichabod and Mills. Though that won’t happen soon, as it’s usually the death of these types of shows. I do like that they’ve been able to craft a whole new storyline for them as witnesses.

Once Upon A Time Season Finale: A New Author, A New Dark One.

Once Upon A Time Season Finale: A New Author, A New Dark One.

Posted by Dustin on 05.12.2015 at 12:06 pm

So I really enjoyed the “Once Upon A Time” finale this year. Usually we are left with a cliffhanger as to who the new big bad may be, but not this year. It wasn’t that shocking as it was really teased all season, Emma is the new bad buy.

Henry finally become the hero/savior, as he was whisked into the book to try and change all that Gold and Isaac did by sending everyone into the book/fake Fairytale land and reversing their hero/villain roles. I really liked the totally reversal of Snow and Regina’s roles there. I only wish they could have brought some others from the past back.

Where the heck has Red gone to? I can’t remember!

In saving everyone, Henry predictably became the new author. However he also snapped the author’s pen, feeling it was too much power for anyone to have. What does this mean for the stories though? That was unclear.

In the end there was a nice twist on the reveal of Merlin as the sorcerer, who they now need to find in order to fully beat the darkness/evil. I feel like Merlin was teased before though, and we definitely already had the Lady of the Lake appear. Merlin tethered the darkness to a human, aka The Dark One, as he had not found a way to permanently destroy it. He then went on some mission around the world to find out how to do away with it, but never returned.

In the end the darkness needed a new host, after it was drawn out of Gold’s heart to save his life, and it went for Regina. However Emma wouldn’t allow Regina to lose her happy ending and took the darkness into herself, begging her family to find Merlin and save her. She then disappeared, with her name appearing on the dagger.

Where has she gone to? That’s a big question. Honestly I’m surprised the darkness didn’t seek out Zelena, who is still stuck in the mental hospital basement and still pregnant with Robin’s kid. Something tells me Emma will turn to Zelena next season for help though, and possibly also bring in Lily, which shouldn’t be too hard.

It will be interesting to see if Gold will turn into a coward again. He won’t have any magic at all now, or shouldn’t. Something tells me he’ll not be able to cope and may try and get the Dark One’s magic back.

Renewals And Cancellations . . . Plus Summer Shows!

Renewals And Cancellations . . . Plus Summer Shows!

Posted by Dustin on 05.08.2015 at 9:51 am

With the end of the season upon us, lots of shows are being canned or renewed. ABC has put the nail in the coffin for “Resurrection,” so we will never get answers to that one.

“Castle,” “Nashville,” “Once Upon A Time,” “Secrets and Lies” and everything Shonda Rhimes does is coming back.

If you were fan of “Forever,” it’s gone forever sadly.

I’m really glad about “Nashville,” we knew “Once” was coming back, and am surprised about “Secrets and Lies.” I don’t know where they will take it. Will Abby kill again?

This summer I’m looking forward to the return of “Mistresses” and plan to give “The Whisperers” a shot, though ABC horror shows never seem to go over well. They are great, but always last one season. Speaking of horror, I’m looking forward to “Under The Dome” returning as well.

Once Upon A Time: The Season Finale Is Upon Us.

Once Upon A Time: The Season Finale Is Upon Us.

I can’t believe it’s already season finale time. Probably because the shows have so many hiatuses nowadays they go on and off constantly. It seems like “Once Upon A Time” just came back!

Anyways, Lily and Maleficent’s reunion was touching, once Lily stopped being so nasty. I realize a lot has to do with the darkness inside her, but dang she was nasty at first. Hopefully Maleficent can calm her darkness, or they can find a way to remove it from her. Speaking of removing it, I so saw them using her blood as the ink coming a mile away.

I liked that Emma stopped being a brat to her parents as well. All they were trying to do was save her, and they had no idea what the author and sorcerer had planned.

I’m not so fond of Regina going a bit dark in this episode again, though the Wicked Witch has just got to go! I’m very interested in who they set up for the new big bad, which the usually tease in the finales. They are almost running out of villains.

Finale spoilers below the jump!

Once Upon A Time: Lilly & The Return Of Wicked.

Once Upon A Time: Lilly & The Return Of Wicked.

Posted by Dustin on 03.30.2015 at 6:02 pm

This week on “Once Upon A Time” the truth about what Snow and David did in the past was revealed. Thanks to the Sorcerer, they damned the potential evil in Emma into Maleficent’s dragon egg, and the Sorcerer sent it along with Cruella and Ursula into another dimension. Snow and Charming realized too late what they’d done, and that it was a human baby inside the egg. Given the two villains ended up on Earth, it was easy to guess that’s where the baby went too.

Emma was pissed when she learned what her parents did and acted like she couldn’t trust them anymore. I get being angry over the innocent baby, but she acted like her parents perpetuated some act of horror upon her. I didn’t get why she was so miffed. What they did was wrong, but they were trying to protect her. She also learned from Hook that Gold’s plan was to turn her evil and then use that to get his happy ending from the author.

The author it turned out was the real villain. He betrayed his role as the keeper of the stories and began to manipulate the world as he saw, which is what really condemned Maleficent’s child if everyone steps back and takes a moment to realize this. He manipulated all the players. The Sorcerer trapped him in the book, but by the end of the episode Emma and the others released him in order to get answers. What damage will he do now?

We also learned there has been more than one author over time, and that Walt Disney was one of them. With the older author trapped, until now, I want to know who the current author is. They have to be important too.

We also learned that Maleficent’s child was adopted by a man and named Lily. She is somewhere in our world, but do we know her? Is she really evil? Time will tell.

Next week sees the return of the Wicked Witch, who Gold brings in it seems to punish Regina for betraying him and the other villains.

Once Upon A Time: The Return Of August.

Once Upon A Time: The Return Of August.

Posted by Dustin on 03.16.2015 at 1:31 pm

So I’ve really been enjoying “Once Upon A Time” again. I’m still not sure where the Frozen gang is, as I swore they were unable to get back home because of the boundary around the town. Anyways, on to what’s been happening.

I really enjoyed the backstory between Regina and Maleficent. I was sure they would have King Stefan be the father of the baby she lost, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. The Briar Rose being Aurora’s mother was a nice twist on the whole story. By the end of the show when Maleficent had put Aurora under the curse and said she had big plans for Prince Phillip, I began to suspect that she may seduce him and that he could be her child’s father. However the timeline doesn’t seem to work. Given where Regina is in her learning of magic, Snow and Charming are still children and haven’t met. Actually now that I think about it, a lot of these characters should really be much older than Snow and Charming shouldn’t they? Apparently people don’t age the same way in the enchanted fairytale forest.

I loved that they brought August back, and actually felt that was coming when they claimed the younger Pinocchio didn’t have the answers they needed. I am worried that Regina will get sucked back into being evil as they work to get answers out of him. I really don’t want them to go there. Honestly though with the prophecy about Emma, I am expecting them to actually turn her evil as the season finale cliffhanger.

Why in the hell do they have Maleficent dressing like she’s out of the 1940s?

Once Upon A Time: Queens Of Darkness.

Once Upon A Time: Queens Of Darkness.

Posted by Dustin on 03.06.2015 at 8:31 pm

So it’s been a few days since the “Once” premier and I’ve been thinking about what all occurred on it. Definitely some interesting developments. Let’s dish!

I was somewhat confused by the whole backstory with Rumple and the Queens of Evil. It seems he got the idea to find the author long before Regina did? Is this why he was later obsessed with the sorcerer’s hat? He, like Regina, thought the sorcerer was the author? It seems both were wrong though, as Blue told Regina that he (or she) was not the author of the book. I hope the author turns out to be someone amazing that we never suspected.

If Maleficent was left for dead in that cavern, and they allude to her still being there, how did she fight Emma as a dragon and do all that other stuff, like trade the curse to Regina? Sometimes I need to remember that this show is from the creators of “Lost” who seem to forget what they’ve written, or hope the audience forgets, or just write stories to confuse their audience.

The idea that Emma is the true dark heart is intriguing. What does this mean? Does it have something to do with whatever deal the Queens and the Charmings made in fairytale forest long ago? I have a feeling baby Emma is very much involved. Don’t tell me there was a baby-switch made!

I have to say I really do like dark Snow much more than boring goody two-shoes Snow.

I was hoping that weird stone demon was Goliath from “Gargoyles.”
