Fantastic Filler Finales For Reality TV This Week

Fantastic Filler Finales For Reality TV This Week

Last night was the two hour finale of “Dancing With The Stars.” If you were like many people and decided to just tune in for the last 5 minutes, you probably saw that Kristi Yamaguchi won. Yay! If you were one of those like me who sat through it all, you had to watch performances from Usher, as well as every single couple being brought back to dance their favorite dances. Zzzzzzzzzzzz just tell me who won already!

Unfortunately tonight “American Idol” is doing the same thing. They have two hours of performances from the final 2, as well as many of the top 12 who are all there. Also thrown in are Fox movie promotions for “The Love Guru.” There were a few noteworthy performers though, such as Donna Summer performing with the girls and Syesha. Anyway, after sitting through it all, the winner was announced!

For those who haven’t seen it yet, I’ll put the winners name below the fold . . . If you can’t wait then read on . . .

Final Threes

Final Threes

So last night on “Dancing With The Stars” Marissa was sent home. This puts Christian, Jason and Kristi in the finals. I think we might see Christian pull off a win this season. Yes he’s gotten good, but at the same time I wonder how much sympathy vote he’s also getting because of the arm injury. I think Jason will be knocked out next.

On “American Idol” Syesha, David A and David C performed. Baring some shocking voting, I think it’s safe to say Syesha will be going home tonight. David C will probably win this years idol, but I don’t know, it’s hard to say until we see the final two perform.

Stunned: BB & AI

Stunned: BB & AI

Okay first let me say I had to get all this info second hand. As I type this I’m in Sin City, Las Vegas baby! I’ll be here till Sunday. All my shows are Tivoing, but I can also get them all the next day online. So if my thoughts/recaps are late . . . that’s why!

So anyway, tonight Ryan won the final HOH on “Big Brother” and sent Sheila packing, and I heard she was a blubbering mess. I really wanted her and Adam to end up in the final 2.

What I’m shocked, and pissed about, is “American Idol.” Holy crap, I did not see Carly going home tonight at all! I didn’t expect her to win, but at this point I am very angry. It seems every time I watch AI this happens to me, people who I feel need to go home don’t. Grrrr! I can’t believe they voted her out over Jason last night and even Brooke’s huge mess up.

Let me reiterate grrrr!

American Idol: You Must Love Me

American Idol: You Must Love Me

So tonight was Andrew Lloyd Weber night on American Idol, and I have to admit I’ve been looking forward to this night since it was announced. I was pleasantly surprised, as well as shockingly horrified.

Let’s get to the bad stuff right off the bat. Jason Castro doing “Memory” from “Cats” was the worst performance of the night. I admit I’m biased against him, but that was not a good song pick at all. Brooke White meanwhile chose “You Must Love Me” from Evita (actually written for Madonna for the movie version) and she forgot the words and started over. Not good for her. These are going to be the bottom two and if they aren’t I will be stunned.

For the good. Syesha, who has been struggling, did an amazing performance of the song “One Rock’n’ Roll Too Many” from “Starlight Express.” I have never seen this show, so it was new to me. She was really good though. The two stars of the night for me were David A. who did an amazing song with “Think Of Me” from “Phantom” and really was the only one I thought to pull off doing a Broadway song more as a pop song. I have to say I also loved Carly doing “Jesus Christ Superstar.” I got chills! Finally David C. did “Music Of The Night” from “Phantom.” He was good, but it didn’t click with me. He should have done something from “Joseph” of “Miss Saigon,” something with more of a rock feel.

Leaving Us On American Idol Tonight . . . .

Leaving Us On American Idol Tonight . . . .

This week Mariah Carey was the mentor and all the stars performed her various songs, or songs she’s covered in the case of Carly.

Many probably feel it’s been long overdue . . . . Kristy Lee Cook was voted off “American Idol” tonight. I think next week, unless she performs a miracle, will be Syesha’s week, followed by Brooke or Carly. Kudos to Carly though, who called Simon out for seemingly being overly-tough on her. He said that he sees her potential to be great, that is why he’s so critical on her.

I’ve made no attempt to hide that I want Jason Castro off the show. I loved Randy’s comments this week that he felt like he was at an odd luau. I will admit the guy can sing, maybe not as well as some of the others, it’s the fact that all his songs seem to be arranged in the exact same way with the bongos and classical guitars. Enough!

In the end though, I think it will come down to David A. and David C. as the final two.

Next week is Andrew Lloyd Weber week, the week after will be the final mentor Neil Diamond (unless there is some surprise announcements).

Tonight the bottom three were Carly, Syesha and Michael Johns . . . and Michael was sent packing! Wow, he wasn’t my favorite, but I could name others that should have gone before him.

American Idol: This Week’s Thoughts

American Idol: This Week’s Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 04.08.2008 at 9:40 pm

So tonight wasn’t a “theme” night (well apparently it was, it was “inspirational song night”) or a “mentor” night, mainly because tomorrow is “Idol Gives Back,” which will have enough star power as is. On Thursday we’ll find out who is going home this week.

Honestly, I don’t know who will go home. I have a feeling Syesha could be in trouble for attempting a Fantasia song, but I didn’t think it was terrible as there were worse. Contrary to the judges, whom I believe were drinking from Paula’s cup tonight, I HATED Jason’s performance of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” Big shock, he once again made it sound “Islandy.” I was waiting for him to tip-toe through the tulips!

Even though the judges felt Carly would be in trouble, David Cook I think was in fact the worst of the night. Just like there are certain artists (Whitney, Mariah) that the women shouldn’t even attempt, the same I feel goes for men. David Cook tried to sing an “Our Lady Peace” song (Innocent), and if you’ve never heard the band, well lets just say the singer has a voice that can’t easily be replicated.

I am a huge “Our Lady Peace” fan though, so I may be a bit biased. No I’m not, he killed the song. You can check out Our Lady Peace’s Innocent on YouTube (you’ll have to search for it, all the videos have embedding disabled)

Spoilers for those on the west coast!

Tonight Brooke White, Kristy Lee Cook and Ramiele Malubay ended up in the bottom three tonight and Remiele was sent home.

I really didn’t think she was the worst of the worst this week, so I’m sad to see her go.

American Idol 7: Country Week

American Idol 7: Country Week

Posted by Dustin on 04.01.2008 at 9:05 pm

First up, I am not a country music fan at all. So this was not an easy week for me to watch, especially since I am not familiar with most of these songs. Oddly I don’t mind Dolly Parton too much, so she made it a bit better. Fortunately the show is now finally down to an hour, so it doesn’t conflict with what comes on after it anymore.

No shock, Carly Smithson got her mojo back and was the leader of the pack of the girls. David Archuleta got his back too and seemed to lead the males. Who is going home? I’m not sure, but I will say that I hope it’s Jason Castro at this point. I’m over everything being turned into an “island” song. I honestly can’t believe he didn’t sing “Islands In The Stream.” Most improved overall I think was Syesha, who I thought did a good a job as anyone might be able to do with that song (“I Will Always Love You.”) Problem is whoever sings it will always be compared to Whitney.

Chickezie Sent Packing On American Idol

Chickezie Sent Packing On American Idol

Posted by Dustin on 03.26.2008 at 10:59 pm

Tonight the bottom three were Jason, Chickezie and Syesha. I am somewhat surprised Ramelie wasn’t among the bottom, but not shocked that Chickezie went home. I think Kristy Lee Cook’s performance this week is the only thing that saved her. I expect her, Jason, Ramelie and Syesha to be the next four to go home, unless there is some serious shake-ups and muck-ups!
