Secrets And Lies: Heading into The Finale.
So there are only three episodes of “Secrets and Lies” left, which includes tonight’s show. The commercials and promos, and even the press release for the final show, claims it is the season finale, not the series finale. This started making me and others worry that ABC might pull an AMC’s “The Killing” and not reveal the killer and drag it out another season. Between that, and some of the filler shows, I grew tired and headed to the internet. What I, and many others, learned was this show is based off a 6 episode Australian show that like NBC’s “The Slap,” was available on Netflix. So I skimmed it to find out the killer. I won’t give that away here, but if you really want to know it will be at the very bottom of this post, below the official releases for the last three shows. Fair warning, it may very well ruin the end of the US show! I was starting to think they were going in another direction, but after the latest episode it’s all falling into place to be the exact same killer.
Even though I spoiled myself, I’m still tuning in for these last few episodes. I want to ride it out in case they have changed the killer. Plus I do enjoy the show, and I really want to see Cornell get what is coming to her. There was no satisfaction there in the Australian version.
I like the show enough that I would tune into a second season, if ABC plans one, I just don’t know how it would work. The official releases below do say the killer will be revealed in the finale episode though. The next season could, theoretically, be about what happens to the them, the trial, and I’m sure they could reveal more twists along the way. The final release gives a hint as to where they may go, which annoys me if it plays out that way.
Anyways, below are the releases/spoilers for the final three episodes. Below that is the Australian reveal, should you be oh so curious.

Continue for the Australian killer reveal! This may ruin the US show!

In the Australian version, Ben’s youngest daughter is the killer. In this version Ben and Christy are planning to split up after Christmas, but decided not to tell their kids as they wanted them to have one last happy Christmas. Ben’s affair with Jess was more than a one time thing it seems. The youngest daughter heard them fighting one night and figured if there was no Tom, that Jess would move away and her parents might stay together. She is a complete sociopath devoid of any feelings, evident as she coldly confesses all in the final scenes as her parents are left in tears.
The final release for the US version seems to hint that Ben, or Christy, may confess to the murder to protect their daughter.
