“American Horror Story: Freakshow” appeared last night and it was so unusually bizarre. So far I’m loving it! This season centers around a Freakshow led by Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange). We haven’t even met half the cast it seems based on the first episode. Evan Peters plays Jimmy Darling, a boy with deformed hands known as “The Lobster Boy” and does some seriously perverse things with them. His mother is Ethel Darling the bearded woman (Kathy Bates). Then there is a whole slew of real life people with real life medical abnormalities that have been cast as well. This seems to be very much influenced by the 1932 movie “Freaks,” which did the same thing. The movie is posted below if you have never seen it.
In the first episode Mars discovers Bette and Dot, siamese twins played by Sarah Paulson, who were taken to a local hospital. They couldn’t be more different, one is good and proper while the other is dirty and evil. They killed their mother, but that doesn’t stop Elsa from bringing them in as the stars of her show. They both, of course, end up falling for Jimmy. Oh brother, that’s gunna lead to some bizarre sex scenes for sure! The end of the show had Jimmy and the other “freaks” disposing of a detective who is onto Bette and Dot for the murder of their mother, which they poorly tried to hide by stabbing themselves to cover it up. That’s what landed them in the hospital.
Meanwhile there is a twisted clown freak named Tickles that is abducting and killing people around the town, and he can’t help but be drawn to the freakshow himself.
So given how last season ended, it seemed the show was setting Elsa up to be a villain. I am wondering if Disney put the ixnay on that, not wanting one of their most popular characters to be a villain after the Peter Pan fiasco. Elsa and Emma bonded, and she vowed to help her find Anna.
Making Bo-Peep a villain was fun, but I couldn’t help but wish they got Jennifer Saunders for the role. Hint hint show, cast her as something please!
The mystery of where Anna is remains. She was set on a task to find “The Dark One” for help in the past, and in the present Gold had her amulet. Where is she now though? Nobody knows, or if they do they aren’t talking.
Regina basically locked herself away in this episode, with Henry working to get through to her.
Based on the end of the show this week and the previews for next, Elizabeth Mitchell has been brought in as the real villain that Elsa was based on, “The Snow Queen.” This should be an interesting twist.
So I’ve really been digging parts of the new season of “Sleepy Hollow,” others are making me want to scream. Henry is so evil that I want to see him die, but as he is Katrina and Crane’s son you don’t want that to happen. I also really am not happy that Katrina is stuck with the horseman. I do worry they will eventually get rid of her, or turn her evil, in order for Crane and Abby to get together. Finally the new Captain has to go. The horseman can take her head. Please, take it! I hate that Henry is using Captain Frank and corrupting him. He clearly tricked him into signing his soul away in the last episode. Boo! He’s been through so much as is.
So last night Meredith’s sister Maggie rocked the hospital on “Grey’s Anatomy.” The episode revolved around her, and she took over the narration for the episode. She pretty much impressed everyone except for Meredith. What confuses me is why they keep calling her a guest star in all the spoiler releases. Is she not going to be permanent?
Anyway, I actually started to like her a lot more last night, and found myself annoyed with how Meredith is acting. She’s basically being childish, Cristina left and had to be replaced. It turns out Maggie thinks Meredith is a saint for adopting Zola, but Meredith keeps giving her the cold shoulder. When she finally told her that she was Ellis’ daughter, Meredith accused her of lying and just wanting something. Ouch! Has it not yet crossed her mind that the Chief is Maggie’s father? That it is oh so possible?
I’m still on team Bailey when it comes to the board seat, and it seems so is Maggie after learning Bailey had a genome lab that the board shut down.
TNT has officially cancelled “Dallas” after three seasons.
Now I’m even more livid after that finale, as there are so many questions we will never get answered! Also, if the show had to go out . . . they could have at least blown up Elena instead of Christopher!
Here is hoping Lifetime or another network will pick it up. Official statement from the show . . .
TNT has decided not to renew Dallas. We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.
“Witches Of East End” will air a two hour finale (two back to back episodes) on October 5. I wasn’t a huge fan of the previous episode with the flashbacks to Freya and Kilian/Poe’s past. I was at least glad to see Ingrid isn’t as stupid as it first appeared and is playing her grandfather. I seriously was thinking they should have left her dead! I would be stunned if Lifetime didn’t give the show a third season.
Spoilers below!
“Box To The Future.”
Joanna tries to travel back to the present, but a dangerous admirer tracks her down in the past. Meanwhile, Killian makes a rash decision after hearing about Freya. Frederick becomes suspicious of Ingrid’s intentions, while King Nikolaus propositions Dash.
“For Whom the Spell Tolls”
Joanna trying to escape from Tarkoff, while Freya and Wendy race to find a way back to the present. As for Ingrid, she learns some shocking news about herself from King Nikolaus, while Dash’s dark past closes in on him.
A bunch of spoilers for various ABC shows. I still have to watch “Forever,” which I’m now 3 episodes behind on, and “How To Get Away With Murder.”
Anyways, spoilers for the following shows below, with some minor teasers first if you don’t want the full shebang.
“Once Upon A Time” – It seems ABC is sticking with last season’s plan and only releasing spoilers for the next episode after the previous one airs. On a brighter note, Little Bo Peep has been turned into a villain! Wow!
“Resurrection” – There seems to be a clue in a long old body to the returned. Has this happened before?
“Castle” – It seems my worst fears were realized and they are delaying the wedding. No! It looks like we will get a fun early Halloween show with a paranormal killer?
“Nashville” – Jeff is going after Rayna’s girls. Does he want to sign her kids to Edgehill?
“Grey’s Anatomy” – Meredith looks through her mother’s old diaries and finds something. Uh oh! Sally Pressman (“Army Wives”) guest stars!
Mistresses Gets A Season 3, But Without Alyssa Milano!

ABC finally broke the news that “Mistresses” was getting a third season. However it looks like not all the ladies will be back sadly. Alyssa Milano (Savi) made a post on twitter, which linked to her website, explaining why she isn’t returning.
After two wonderful seasons in Los Angeles, the studio has decided to shoot season three of Mistresses in Vancouver, Canada for financial reasons. It’s with a heavy heart that I have decided that I can’t relocate. I have two babies under 4. Being a mother and wife comes first and I just can not uproot my children and separate the family by moving away.
I will miss this job desperately and wish everyone the absolute best.
Here is hoping Alyssa and the studio can work something out to keep her onboard!
