Devious Maids Season 2 Finale
Posted by Dustin on 07.15.2014 at 11:09 am
So sunday night closed out “Devious Maids” season two with the finale. As of yet there is no word on whether the show will get a season 3. Many news outlets believe it could go either way by the numbers. After the final scene, we need this show back!
The not-so shocking secret that finally came out was that Nick did run over the Powell’s son Barrett. Dahlia was in the car distracting him with news that she was sleeping with Opal when Barrett darted out in front of him. Nick went off to tell the cops after confessing to the Powells. Is this the end of Nick? I have some thoughts on that later.
Carmen met a man who helped her get a potential record deal with Sony records. She also really liked him, and they slept together (guest star Gilles Marini). Only later did she learn he was married, and the record exec that he gave her demo to is his wife! Opps!
Zoila finally made her choice between the two men in her life and showed the door to Pablo in favor of Javier. Once she did this, Pablo, who was set to give Genevieve a kidney, took it back. The jerk! Then Zoila learned she was pregnant, and the father could be either one of the men. Oh brother!
After Rosie helped Mr. Kenneth oust Reggie and reunite with his wife and daughter, she was surprised by a proposal from Spence. He wanted to marry her, but also make sure she stayed in the country and he didn’t lose her again. We later learned after their very quick marriage that Rosie’s supposedly dead husband in Mexico is alive! He’s been held captive by a drug cartel for years.
At the wedding, as everyone came out of the church to celebrate, Spence’s deranged nephew pulled up in a car. Carmen saw him in time to yell at everyone to get down. He pulled a ski mask down over his face and open fired, trying to kill Valentina so she wouldn’t rat him and his friends out about the burglary gang. The final shot showed blood splattering on the bouquet.
I can’t believe they left us with that ending! I have a feeling if the show comes back, we will be several months later in time. Someone in the wedding party will have died, and that kidney will go to Genevieve. Hopefully someone not important, a friend of someone for example. I think because of the circumstances of the hit-and-run, Nick will only serve minimal time and will be back out. Whether he’s still with Marisol or not could go either way. Zoila will be ready to pop, and should know who the father is by then. I think someone will end up in a coma from the shooting and still be in it when the show returns. Likely poor Valentina, as she was set to move to New York and work in some fashion house that the Powell’s owned. I worry if Carmen was hit, she will have vocal damage or something. Finally Rosie’s husband will show up on her and Spence’s happy doorstep.

So last night the heavily promoted “Extant” premiered on CBS. I was a little skeptical of it because of how much promotion it was getting on TV. Usually something that gets promoted so much sometimes stinks. Also sci-fi can be touch and go with me. However I did give it a try, mainly due to the amazing cast, and really liked it!
The show takes place in the future and centers around a family of three. Molly Woods (Halle Berry) is an astronaut recently back from a 13 month solo space station trip. Her husband John (Goran Visnjic) is a scientist dabbling in Humanicks (Human robots) and has created their son Ethan, a 10 year oldish human robot. He created the child as he and his wife are infertile. John is trying to get funding for his program, but people are skeptical because there was apparently already one robot rebellion in the past. They worry this will lead to another. John feels the key to preventing that is to create more human robots that can learn and grow, just as a human would. They would learn right from wrong, good from bad. It’s unclear yet if this kid will actually grow up, or if they have to make newer “older” bodies and transfer his programing over. John is funded privately by the founder of the Yasumoto corporation, who has his fingers in many ventures. One is the space program which John’s wife Molly is involved in. Something happened to Molly during her space trip. A being showed up in the station and it was her dead first husband (or previous lover). Molly is slowly remembering what happened during a 13 hour blackout, which seems to be linked to a mysterious pregnancy. The previous astronaut on the space station killed himself after he came home, or so everyone thinks. He’s in hiding and contacts Molly by the end of the show to tell her what happened to her on the station is real. Meanwhile Mr. Yasumoto has some kind of interest in this being, and this is why he’s funding her husband, to keep her close. As all this drama is unfolding, something is going on with Molly’s robot kid Ethan . . .he too is changing somehow, growing darker almost. Who, or what is out there? That is the mystery of the show!
I actually really enjoyed it, and hope future episodes are as intriguing and interesting as this one. This has the potential to be great, or turn into a huge disappointment. Time will tell!
Take the new poll on the frontpage on the show. Did you like it, hate it, not even bother with it?

Pretty Little Liars: It Begins Again! Plus Spoilers!
Posted by Dustin on 07.09.2014 at 2:46 pm
Things just go round and round on “Pretty Little Liars.” The show has, in a way, come full circle to where it all began. Alison is alive, back in school, is still manipulating people, and Mona still wants to run her out of town!
We still don’t have the answer to who killed Alison’s mom. Spencer seems to think it might have been her father. It looks like her mom might think so too, as she revealed she’s filed for divorce from Spencer’s dad. We know the two were linked by an affair, as well as some secret about Radley. Does it also have to do with what Melissa knows and isn’t talking about? By the end of the show we learned the blond buried in Alison’s grave was a runaway from Radley. Coincidence? I think not!
We also don’t know yet who really tried to kill Alison that night, or who killed the girl who got buried in the grave. I feel like we are setting up a little too many murders and questions at this point. I’m willing to bet Melissa killed her, thinking she was Alison, and her dad and Alison’s mom covered it up. Is this the Radley secret they’ve been afraid of?
Alison returned to school, and her old ways it seemed. She’s busy screwing with Emily’s feelings and mind again, and facing off with Mona. Mona played a doctored tape of their confrontation, which of course made her the victim and Ali the villain. Everyone at school is against her, even the liars are questioning her now.
Caleb returned in this episode and is back from good, which sent Hannah into a tailspin and lead to a bad hangover.
The final moments of the show had Sydney (the new girl who has become Emily’s new BFF), Jenna and Mona meeting to plot to get rid of Alison for good.
Meanwhile the liars tried to make sense of everything in the final moments when a huge explosion occurred. They ran outside to see a wrecked car and Toby and Jenna’s house in flames. Is Toby dead?
Then each one of their phones started beeping . . . A is back! But now who is A? Mona and her crew again, or someone new?
Spoilers, and a promo, below!

Mistresses: Dirty Little Secrets. Plus Spoilers!
Posted by Dustin on 07.08.2014 at 7:52 pm
I know Savi is supposed to be the title character on “Mistresses,” but man is she bugging the hell out of me lately. That girl needs to get her shiznit together! I was really hoping she would wise up and try and give things with Harry another try before they finalized the divorce. I really do not like her and Dom together, at all. While it is annoying me that she’s now playing with fire with this Zack character, I’d rather she moved on with him and left Dom behind if she’s not going to work it out with Harry. Something about Dom just doesn’t rub me right. I started wondering about him when he talked about how since the moment he met her that he had things planned out for them. I almost wonder if he toyed with her initially to take her out of the promotion they were both in the running for. Yeah, he creeps me out that much.
Joss found out that Harry is planning to go back to Australia. Noooooooooo! This just cannot happen. She tried to convinced him not to give up on his dreams. He said he wasn’t giving up on his dreams, only moving on as he feels he’s done all he can in LA. Harry just can’t leave LA, he can’t! I feel he belongs with Savi, or Joss, one of them! As much as I find Scott and Joss cute, I don’t think he’s going to really last.
April’s boyfriend Daniel was away on one of his mysterious trips. In other words he’s spending time with that other woman. What I don’t get is that Karen saw him out with her during one of her “play nights,” so why didn’t she tell April? By the end of the episode, which had April having a falling out with her daughter’s friend’s parents, she learned that Daniel had been spotted with another woman who seemed much more than a friend. No, Karen didn’t tell her, it was the mother of her kid’s friend that did. The previews have her confronting him, so we should finally get some answers. Seems like April is now the other woman! I hope she does not continue the affair as she knows what it feels like to be cheated on better than anyone.
Karen met a nice guy during her “fantasy nights” that she really liked, only to freak out when she realized she hadn’t been herself or used her real name with him. She’s used so many fake names that she couldn’t remember which one she gave him! She tried to find him at their meeting spot to be truthful, but instead ran into her old partner Jacob. Oh no, I think he’s bad news like Dom is! Poor Karen, I hope she finds Ben, the guy she was really looking for that night.

The Fosters: Callie’s Other Family. Plus Spoilers!
Posted by Dustin on 07.08.2014 at 1:54 pm
I am really enjoying “The Fosters” lately. I think ditching the Brandon and Callie storyline has been the best thing the show has done. I’m sure it will eventually be revisited, as they keep teasing about their love as of late, but both are trying to move on. I also felt a little dirty watching them sneaking around, knowing the situation they were in and that it could jeopardize Callie and Jude’s future. Putting Brandon in a rock band also has made his character a little more likable, at least for me. He seems less pretentious and snobby now. I do hope he gets full use of his hand back, but now I feel like I understand why the show wrote in the accident. His character was stuck and needed to grow.
I loved the resolution to Stef, Leena and the baby daddy drama at the school. The anonymous donor who later had a change of heart has agreed to the original anonymous terms. However Stef later suggested they not cut him out of the baby’s life, that their child should know where she comes from. Yes, they are having a little girl. I worry though that something will happen and the baby will be lost. Leena didn’t get the job as principal that she wanted, and I worry the stress and anxiety of the changes at her job with the new person coming in will cause issues.
I’m happy to see the show didn’t sweep the “is Jude gay” story under the rug. Last season when Leena told him his feelings were normal and didn’t mean he was gay really annoyed me. That a lesbian parent would say that to a kid seems very unrealistic to me. They’ve continued to tease the story this season with Jude and his friend, but their friendship went sower and now Jude has all but stopped talking. Hmmmmm. Interesting!
The twins storyline still doesn’t interest me that much, though I am warming up to Marianna and the dance squad story. For some reason I just really dislike Jesus though. I think it’s the way he keeps jumping from one girl to another.
Finally Callie met her birth father and her half-sister (little Snow White from “Once”). The half-sister basically has no life outside of academics and hobbies, so she immediately seemed to latch onto Callie. I can see the mother feeling Callie is a bad influence on her daughter at some point. This is hitting the mother hard, the idea her husband had a wife and kid before her. She also overheard him telling Stef that leaving Callie’s mother and bending to his family’s pressure was the biggest mistake he’s made and he regrets it. We learned he’s rich and his family pressured him to dissolve the marriage, they feared Callie’s mom was a gold-digger. He now wants to set up a college trust fund for Callie, and keeps claiming his parents are the reason the abandonment papers are taking so long. I don’t buy it. This guy is going to end up taking Callie at some point. I can just feel it.

Last’s night’s “True Blood” brought both great happiness and great sorrow. I am just stunned, and wondering who else is going to meet the true death before this show ends?
Eric and Pam were reunited, and he was content to finally die and meet the true death. We saw some flashbacks of how Pam and Eric both met Nan Flannigan and presumably how Eric ended up in America as a sherif. We didn’t get that far yet. We also met some assassin squad from the Yoshimora corporation, which are the makers of Tru Blood. In the present Pam tried to get Eric to fight, that a cure might happen if they could keep him alive long enough. The only thing that made him want to fight was Pam revealing that Jason did not kill Sarah Newlander, she was alive. He was furious and wanted to find her. He isn’t the only one though. She’s been hiding out in some Yoga Cult, and the assassins from Yoshimora showed up looking for her! What do they want with her? Possibly something to do with the poisoning of the Tru Blood supply?
Andy, Jason, Jessica and Jason’s gal pal vamp all rescued Adeline and Arlene’s boy from jail, but then faced off with the hillbilly bunch whose taking back the town. Jason’s gal got tired of them, Hoyt’s mama in particular, and ended up ripping her heart out! I wish she had ripped her head off, but I’ll take what I can get. I was so glad to see her die!
Lettie Mae’s husband the Reverend basically sent Willow on her way, because Lettie Mae was becoming addicted to V. She wondered who would protect them? He said he would. That probably means they are as good as dead. We did get confirmation on Tara’s death too, as Pam mentioned she felt Tara meet the true death. So many deaths!
They are clearly setting up a love triangle involving Lafayette, his vampire protector James, and James’ girlfriend Jessica. I think it’s also just a way to eventually bring Hoyt back for Jessica. With his mama dead he will likely come home. Has he gotten his memory back? Maybe it’s best he doesn’t, he and Jessica could then start over.
Finally Sookie came up with the plan to find the Hep-V vamps by using herself as bait and having them take her back to their lair, where Bill would track her too. However her plan didn’t go as planned. The Hep-V vamps took Holly with them when they went hunting, found Sookie and Bill and overpowered them. Then Sam and Alcide showed up. There was a shootout that left most of the Hep-V vamps dead, but also Alcide! Nooooooooooooo! I just can’t believe they killed him off. With Eric dying and Alcide dead, it really looks like Sookie will end up with Bill, unless they go with the actual ending from the books.
Rest in Piece Alcide, your naked body will be missed. Rot in pieces Hoyt’s mama, you won’t be missed!
