Nashville: Another Shocking Death!
So I thought of the few network shows hat had returned early from winter hiatus that we’d still get to see them through the Olympics. Sadly no! Nashville is repeats until the end of February, when other ABC shows slowly start to return.
The latest episode featured another death. This one was shocking, unlike Peggy’s, who I think most viewers weren’t sad to see go. With Lamar out of jail, the tension began building. Teddy was certain that Lamar was responsible for Peggy’s death in an attempt to kill him for misdirected retribution. Teddy told this to Rayna, and also said he didn’t turn evidence in on Lamar. He didn’t have that info, but her sister did. Rayna confronted Tandy, who claimed Lamar was responsible for their mother’s death. Rayna then had it out with her dad, who said he did not kill their mother. However he did arrive at the scene of the crash where she was dying . . . and basically did nothing to help her. Rayna was disgusted and demanded he stay out of her life and her kid’s lives. Later Teddy had it out with him over Peggy’s death, turning the screw even more and letting him know Tandy turned evidence on him. The stress became too much for Lamar, who had a heart attack. As he begged Teddy to help him, Teddy just watched! Karmic retribution?
I honestly didn’t think they would really let Lamar die, but the previews for when the show comes back indicate he really is dead. What the hell? How can they kill one of the biggest villains off? Who will expose Teddy for being the corrupt jerk he is? There has to be something else going on that we don’t know.
Deacon decided to record a live album at the Bluebird, and ended up in a fight when he found Megan with Teddy. Her secret case was exposed, and he feels like she has some savior complex and jumps from one disaster to another. We knew this wouldn’t last, they have to find a way to get Deacon and Rayna in bed together.
Rayna is working on her new video, while Juliette and Avery have made their new relationship official. Suddenly Avery is now her and Deacon’s producers or what not. I just don’t like Avery, so I hate seeing him being made into this hero good guy.
Will went and got the record label guy he had a fling with awhile back re-assigned to someone else. What a nice guy! I really won’t feel that bad if he ends up being outed by someone. Gunnar continued to try and get Will to accept who he was, and even wrote him a song that speaks to his issues. Will wasn’t thrilled as he felt it said way too much about him. It’s time to out Will, he needs some drama and this game with him has gotten old.
Zoey and Scarlett are still strained after she found out about her and Gunnar. However Zoey is beginning to realize something is wrong with Scarlett. She has in one whole episode become a total speed junkie. This particular story is reminding me of the “very special episodes” from the 80s. We’ve already dealt with drug addiction on this show in many better stories, why pull Scarlett into this bad after-school special version?
Zoey has decided she can sing, she’s in Nashville, it’s time to become a singer herself. I’m envisioning some “Coyote Ugly” like performance coming up soon involving the Bluebird’s bar as a stage.
I kinda like Avery. I think he might balance Juliette and bring her back from the bitchy side.
Hopefully, Will’s gonna come out on his own. Another tabloid-fodder storyline will become trite. Wouldn’t it be great if the fact that he’s gay was really no big deal?
As for Scarlett … I predict that her speed addiction will end just as quickly as it started. There’s no point to that plotline at all. Rayna will find out and put a stop to it.
