True Blood Season 6 Finale Thoughts

True Blood Season 6 Finale Thoughts

So last night was the finale episode of Season 6 of “True Blood.” It was also a time jumping episode . . . I hate when they do that!

The first half saw the destruction of Warlow, who went totally crazy and demanded Sookie marry him and that he would turn her. This show really has a thing for just making characters go off the deep end and do 180s. I thought Warlow would stick around. Everyone gathered together to try and save Sookie from him. In the end Grandpa Niall managed to break out of the time-space-vortex that Warlow threw him into earlier in the season. He held Warlow while Jason plunged a stake into his chest. Warlow them melted into a pile of blood goop. As he died, so did the day-walking effects of his blood on the others. This would be tragic for one Eric Northman, who was sunbathing nude in Sweden when the powers went away. He stood up and burst into flames. Is he dead? Well we don’t know. This was one of the cliffhangers we were left with. My guess is it depends on whether the actor returns or not for next season. Pam had gone off looking for him, so she could still find him in time.

We then went six months into the future. Sam’s girlfriend is huge and about to pop, and Sookie is now dating Alcide who finally got a hair cut. What what what? He’s suddenly not so jerky anymore. I think they did this for the fans who have been clamoring for them to be together, before he became an ass that is. Jason is still involved with his vampire mate, who still won’t let him have sex with her. Hep-V has become a huge problem for humans and vampires alike. It’s apparently mutated and has made some vamps infected with it very strong. Sam and others proposed to the town that all humans be tested for the virus, and those that were clean should offer themselves to a vampire to feed them in return for protection. Some members of the community scoffed at this. Sam arranged a meet-n-greet at the newly named Belfluer Bar and Grill that night. Jessica offered her protection to Andy and his remaining daughter as a way to say she was sorry. Andy didn’t want it, but she said he had it nonetheless. Bill was no longer Billith and back to being himself, which meant he was back in love with Sookie. However she was with Alcide. Tara’s mom tried to make peace with Tara and offered herself up as human food to her. Tara was feeding as the show ended. I couldn’t help but worry that her mom knowingly has Hep-V and has condemned her. As the meet-n-greet went on, a gang of super Hep-V infected vamps approached . . .

That’s basically how it ended. No word on Sarah or where she is. No word on whether Eric is alive or dead. I believe we don’t even know where Grandpa Niall went after helping save Sookie. Sookie’s powers also seem to be almost gone, as she couldn’t muster enough light to kill Warlow herself.

After the show a lot of my friends on Facebook were not to happy with the finale. Were you? Leave your thoughts!

  1. Tara’s mom for sure infected her.

  2. So, I have mixed thoughts about this finale. I’m glad Warlow is gone. I didn’t like how flipped from nice to evil in about 3 seconds flat (I mean, if you can wait 5000+ years, what’s another 6 months?), and I also didn’t like Niall arriving in the nick of time (although it was nice to see Niall); the deus ex machine device seems a little weak to me.

Loved the glimpse we had of Eric – a little wackiness can be fun. Hope we see more of him. I have to admit I’m disappointed we didn’t get the “Alex & Jason” dreams that we were teased with last episode. Sigh.

I could see that the writers were trying to redeem Alcide. Once upon a time I liked the character, but now, I just see a jerk.

One would think Sookie would take some time to figure out her bad choices re: dating men, but then she wouldn’t be the Sookie the writers have developed over the course of the show. I suppose she considered a werewolf more tame than vampires.

Sam, you know nothing good will come of your relationship with Nicole. Right? I’m guessing she’ll be a red shirt next season. And if she does die (probably with your unborn son), how can we feel bad for you? We haven’t had any time to become invested in your relationship. How long did you mourn Luna? 10 seconds? Did Nicole even mourn her boyfriend’s death by werewolves? Ooh, just had a thought – maybe she’ll be turned into a vampire while pregnant… (a la Bella?)

So, zombie next season? Could be interesting. If so, maybe everyone should have partied at Bellefleure’s during the day and stayed home at night with “you are not invited in zombie vampires” sign on their door.

Personally, I think the glamour-proof contacts should have been put on the market.

I knew at some point Bill was going to want Sookie back. I guess Lilith was the jealous type.

Tara, I hope your mother was sincere. I think you should have asked to see her test results first.

Why is Jason putting out for 6 months if it’s a one-way street? What’s the point of this storyline? Why is Violet so enamoured with him?

I enjoyed the beach volleyball scene – but I wondered at Jessica’s choice to play in a topless dress. It was nice to see the prisoner vamps in different clothes for a change. I liked that they burned their prison clothes.

  3. I agree with a lot of DNA’s thoughts. I guess my biggest complaint is I’m just not sure I like what the writer’s have made of the characters. Sookie has become such a weak woman who apparently can’t live without a man to take care of her. Completely different from the books. Yes she had boyfriends in the books but she didn’t literally jump from one to the next. Also, Alcide is still an ass. Maybe it’s the backstory we’ve been forced to watch all season but he seemed very controlling with Sookie at the end and of course she was all about it.

My favorite characters have been Pam and Eric and if they got rid of Eric I may be done.

The whole Warlow is evil, then nice and then evil was ridiculous. And what does that mean about her parents? DId he really kill them to save her or what?
