Body of Proof Finale Thoughts . . . .

Body of Proof Finale Thoughts . . . .

Posted by Dustin on 05.29.2013 at 9:10 pm

So last night was likely the end of “Body of Proof.” ABC did not renew it, though some feel it may get a second life on a cable network. While the ratings weren’t stellar, my understanding was they were nevertheless good and it did win it’s time-slot often. Personally I feel the whole “retool” worked against the show in the end. While I warmed up to Tommy, I would still have rather had Peter and the other cops there. Also I don’t think they made enough use of Curtis and the others this season. It was too heavily focused on Tommy, Megan and Dylan from “90210.” The magic between the cast from the first two season was list, this season was too much of a reinvention and getting to know Tommy.

The one thing I’m glad the solved was the mystery of Megan’s father’s death. I’ve been waiting for that since season 1, and season 2 ignored it almost all together. I did feel though that they saw the writing on the wall and rushed that storyline out in the final episode. Having the Captain be the killer was just way too much like “Castle” for my taste. Also . . . where the hell is his body? They never answered that! And the serial killing psychopath saves Megan and just escapes? I guess all these questions, along with Kate’s run for office that went no where would have been answered in season 4.

I do hope the show finds a second life, because I will miss it in spite of this being my least favorite of the seasons. It’s still a good show that I don’t think was ever given a fair shake. They just stuck it in wherever there was a gap in the schedule.

Smash Series Finale Thoughts . . .

Smash Series Finale Thoughts . . .

Posted by Dustin on 05.28.2013 at 2:46 pm

So I was really worried I was going to hate the finally of “Smash,” but for the most part I didn’t. There were some things that definitely annoyed me, but over all I liked it and felt satisfied with the ending.

Probably the thing that irked me the most was the new-Diva got nominated for a Tony, and won. Really was she the Diva all that long that they’d slight Anna? Derrick tried to do right by Anna by getting her a role in a touring show. In the end she decided to take it and not destroy his career, she was sure he’d do that on his own one day.

Derek did do the right thing and told the truth to a newspaper reporter about what he did to Anna. This was after he realized both Karen and Ivy were pretty much disgusted with him. Okay I had some issues here with the story he told. I thought he only promised this gal the under-study role, not the full role. She blackmailed him to get the full role. So why not expose her blackmail as well? I mean ruin her career too! But no, she gets away with it and a Tony award? Though I guess now everyone at least knows she slept her way to it and her career is probably tarnished.

Ivy found out she was pregnant and wavered about telling Derek, especially after learning what he did to Anna. In the end she did tell him, and it seems they would likely be together. Ivy also told her mom she was thinking of taking time off, not that she was pregnant though, and her mother said that would basically be like committing career suicide. I think this is ultimately why they let Ivy win the Tony over Karen. I was miffed initially, but they basically set it up that Ivy was probably bowing out for awhile, and now it would be Karen’s time to shine. Eileen gave Karen a little cheer-up speech saying as much to her.

I loved that Karen and the others screwed the Diva out of her performance on the Tonys, and that Karen and Ivy closed the show together . . . literally the show . . . the Tonys and “Smash.”

Bombshell pretty much swept the awards, which I guess was right since the show was initially about the making of Bombshell. Hit List however won for writing, which is the only award that seemed to matter in the end for them.

Karen learned the truth about Jimmy’s hidden past. He left a girl to OD, never knowing what happened to her. She lived, but he turned himself in and was basically off to jail for about a year. Julia and her soon to be ex seemed to come to an amicable divorce after she was truthful with him about everything. She met Michael Swift long before she married him, and basically he was always apart of their marriage and she knows that wasn’t fair to him. In the end Julia went to see Michael and give him a letter she initially wrote to her husband. I guess we are to assume they ended up together. Finally Tom met an actor (Scotty from Brothers and Sisters) who claimed he was straight, but wasn’t. We got hints that they would end up together, someday . . . maybe? Eileen meanwhile ended up back with the bartender, who just got out of prison after Jerry ratted him out thanks to Ellis.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about Ellis. Add that to the few things that were a disappointment. I would have liked to see him come back, just to get squashed somehow. Maybe a marquis could have fallen on him. That would have been a better ending I think.

Bates Motel Season Finale: Kill Her Norman!

Bates Motel Season Finale: Kill Her Norman!

Posted by Dustin on 05.26.2013 at 7:54 pm

So I ended up watching the final two episodes of “Bates Motel” back to back this week. While some things were resolved, others were not, and I have a lot of questions! This is just a rundown post of my thoughts, and questions . . . with a bit of summary in there.

The guy in Number 9 was in fact in cahoots with Keith and Zach in the Asian sex slave business. Apparently he wanted to start it up again, but Keith absconded with a wad of cash he owed him and he thought Norma had found it. He wanted her to turn it over to him, or else he’d kill her entire family. Norma didn’t have it, and she went to the Sheriff Romero. He said he’d take care of things, but she wasn’t so sure. The Sheriff then went to see Keith’s sister . . . it seems she had it? He then met with the guy when and where he told Norma too meet him with the money. Apparently the Sheriff had the money, or at least a bag that maybe it was is. As Norma spied, the guy tried to make a new deal with the Sheriff, they could just continue on with the business as usual. The sheriff claimed this was his town and he runs things, and then shot him dead! He then told Norma that he told her to trust him . . . as he walked off. I can’t figure out if the Sheriff is good, bad or what !?!?! Obviously he knew what was going on, which is why he covered for Zach and Keith’s murders and shot this guy dead. So he’s not completely good . . . But is he really evil?

Dylan started seeing Reilly, the girl that Norman screwed and was interested in, while Emma started loosing patience with Norman. I’m not sure if we ever learned what the deal with Reilly’s dad dying in the car crash in the premier was? If we did, I missed it. Later the teacher at school that felt Norman needed to see a psychiatrist became way too interested in his talent as a writer. After a school dance, which Norman initially went to with Emma, he ended up at the teacher’s house. This is when he heard the voice of his mother saying “What kind of teacher undresses in front of a student Norman? She’s a slut!”

Norman ended up going home to mommy, where everything was going to be okay. She said everything with the bad man had been taken care of. Initially she thought they’d have to move, which made Norman throw a fit. They may still want to though, as the final shot was of Norman’s teacher dead on the floor with her throat slit!

Other things that happened, Norma and Dylan got closer. He helped her learn to shoot to defend herself, and even called her mom. She was touched, it had been so long. He then confessed his job was guarding a weed field, which she didn’t like. I still don’t think we learned who the big wigs running that are. I’m sure the sheriff is one of them. I also don’t think Norman will like Norma and Dylan’s newfound closeness. Something tells me Dylan won’t make it till the end of season 2!

Nashville’s Season Finale Thoughts!

Nashville’s Season Finale Thoughts!

Posted by Dustin on 05.23.2013 at 3:27 pm

Wow I really wasn’t sure how “Nashville” would top their last episode in the previous episode. However, they did! I really hope that the show got some kind of inside word that their renewal was a sure thing, otherwise that ending would have left me furious! So where to begin?

Will seemed to throw himself into women and his career, trying to keep his homosexuality on the DL. I don’t think that’s gunna last very long in this town. The actor has been added as a full cast member for the fall. My guess is a tabloid scandal will rock him the minute he hits the big time.

Gunnar learned that Avery seemed to be putting his life together and moving back in on Scarlet. It was a wake-up call for him to get his shiznit together or else. At the end of the episode he proposed to her. Will she or won’t she?

Both Teddy and Lamar are in pretty bad situations at this point. Tandy ended up walking out of her dad’s company, after telling him off in a speech about how he seems to only have room in his life for one daughter at a time (or something along those lines). Later a fed, I am guessing, approached her and said they would like to talk to her about her father’s company . . . Uh oh! My guess is Tandy has found a way to oust Lamar!

Meanwhile Teddy was in just as much hot water with the feds after they learned about his little embezzling fiasco. I’m assuming Tandy or Coleman tipped them off based on previous episodes. He went to see Peggy, he thought she may have turned him in or something because she was mad at him. As it turns out the feds came to her first with an immunity deal, but she turned them down. Peggy’s pregnant! Man when Teddy steps in it, he does so with both feet. I’m thinking his resignation as mayor is not far off into next season.

Juliette was devastated over her mama Jolene’s death, and the news was having a field day with a drug-fest-lovers-quarrel-murder-suicide. She was pissed, she thought her mother went on a crazy bender. In the end, thanks to a letter her mom wrote before hand, she learned her mom did all this to protect her for once. I don’t know why I thought she knew, I thought her mom had called her and told her as much after she shot Dante and basically was left dying on the couch? I guess she didn’t explain everything though . . . I still think Juliette will end up a junkie herself at some point. Oh the only upside for Juliette in this episode was she won the female artist of the year award.

Speaking of junkies, Maddie told Deacon about the paternity test she found, and he confronted Rayna. Rayna told him it was true, and he had a melt down. The first thing he asked was “How is this even possible?” She told him that right there is why she never told him, he doesn’t even remember half of that period of his life because of the substance abuse. She said she didn’t know it was his till after she had married Teddy, and then she and Teddy AND Coleman all agreed the truth wasn’t what he needed at that point, and Maddie needed a father she could depend on. Deacon ended up going on a huge bender, getting into a fight with Teddy, and then bailing on going back to AA with Coleman. The episode ended with Rayna and Deacon in a car driving and fighting and then BAM! They swerved to miss hitting a car and flipped theres down into a ravine.

Ohhhhhh my! I’m guessing neither of them will die, though someone will probably be in rehab and the other in some kind of physical therapy/recovery situation. I actually can’t wait till the fall as this was a great finale. I’m also, as I said, really glad it’s coming back. Otherwise I would have been livid to have things end like that with no resolution.

Nashville: Shooting For A Big Fall

Nashville: Shooting For A Big Fall

Posted by Dustin on 05.19.2013 at 4:19 pm

So this week’s coming episode will be the finale, but I’m not sure who they will top last week’s episode! It seems along the lines of the “Smash” finale, both Juliette and Rayna will be up for the same award (much like Karen and Ivy).

Last week were some fairly huge showdowns. Tandy was getting comfy acting like her daddy at the company, but when daddy came back she was forced out of the big chair and had to go back to being his under-appreciated right-hand woman. I don’t think Lamar knows what he’s unleashed in her! He may not want to drink anything she brings him, I’m just saying.

Teddy and Rayna fought over his insecurities now that she’s dating Deacon again, with him being Maddie’s biological father and all. She assured him nothing would ever come between his relationship with his daughter. Meanwhile Deacon felt Rayna had a secret she was keeping. She said when the time was right, she’d tell him. He trusted her . . . Elsewhere Maddie snooped through old papers and found a paternity test indicating who her real dad was! Oops!

Finally Dante returned with a sex tape, and demands for more money or he’d sell it. She told him no more money, leak it . . . she was going on “The View” to beat him to the punch and reveal the truth about him. However Juliette’s mama decided to take a lot of drugs, and then take things in her own hands. She met Dante under the premise of giving him money, only to shoot him, get the recording and destroy it and then die of an overdose . . . So she spared Juliette the humiliation of a sex scandal, just not what the news called a “murder suicide love scandal.”

The show has been renewed for a second season. My guess is it will be filled with custody battles, divorce battles and Juliette sliding into a huge drug addiction.

Grey’s Anatomy Finale: Well At Least Meredith and Derek’s Baby Didn’t Die!

Grey’s Anatomy Finale: Well At Least Meredith and Derek’s Baby Didn’t Die!

Posted by Dustin on 05.17.2013 at 12:32 pm

In this years finale a huge storm hit Seattle, and when everything goes wrong in the OR then doctors call it a perfect storm. Yeah, that was Meredith’s voiceover intro to this episode.

When the power went out, the back up generator at the hospital ended up blowing at the most inopportune time. They also learned they didn’t have enough spare batteries for all their machines . . . oops! Yup, the perfect storm, with a real one going on outside.

A bus ended up crashing in front of the hospital, and a bunch of people were trapped inside and flood waters were rising. Jackson risked his life to save a little girl trapped in the bus. For a moment we thought he died, as the bus blew up. But there were thirty minutes left, so this was just a red herring. He was alive, but watching him almost die made April realize he was who she wanted. She told him as much at the end of the episode. She wanted him, she wanted him to give her a reason not to marry the medic . . . (who proposed in the previous episode).

Meredith of course picked now to go into labor (well Shonda picked now). Not only was there no power, but she would need a C-section as well. The baby survived, but Meredith started to have complications due to her fall in the previous episode prior to her water breaking. She knew what was wrong and had to guide Ross through what to do. He was nervous to do this without someone else there. Meredith made it worse when she told him not to use lifesaving measures on her, she didn’t want to be left a vegetable. However when she passed out, Miranda overcame her fears to help Ross save the day. Miraculously Meredith and the baby wound up okay!

Alex finally told the intern he loves how he feels. Eh, I’m over this story at this point.

Christina realized Owen would never be happy with just her, no matter how much he claimed he would. She finally broke things off with him. I’m so depressed about this! I loved them together and hoped Christina might come around to adopting an older child or something. But, she is staying true to herself.

Arizona cheated on Callie in the previous episode with the new doctor she was working with. Callie figured it out when she saw they had on each other’s scrubs . . . This lead to a huge blow up between Arizona and Callie. Arizona blew up at Callie screaming she wasn’t on the plane, she doesn’t know how it was. Callie said she lost Mark in that crash, she almost lost her. Arizona cried she lost her leg, the one thing she told Callie not to do was cut her leg off. Callie can’t believe it still comes back to that leg. She told Arizona she did lose something else in that crash, her wife! Frankly I now loath Arizona. She can’t blame the crash, Callie or her leg for cheating . . . that is all on her!

Near the end of the episode the generator started back up, thanks to someone tinkering with it. But it also blew again and someone was left electrocuted. The final shot showed us it was Chief Weber! Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Is he dead? Unfortunately he probably is. It’s not a finale of “Grey’s” unless someone dies after all.

Once Upon A Time Season 2 Finale

Once Upon A Time Season 2 Finale

Posted by Dustin on 05.14.2013 at 12:49 pm

Fixed some of the mistakes . . . I am multi-tasking this week as I watch, so I’ll have to watch most of these finales over unfortunately.

At some point I’ll probably watch this over again to pick up on clues I missed. The whole episode basically led up to a mass voyage to Neverland where the mysterious Peter Pan is in the business of kidnapping young kids. Why? We don’t know yet, but do get somewhat of a hint. I’ll give my thoughts at the end.

In Neverland past, Bae showed up on Hook’s ship, and he was thrilled to learn who he was. He did not turn him over to Pan initially, he thought he could somehow use him for his revenge. Bae was horrified to learn the truth about both his parents and Hook, he thought Hook kidnapped and killed his mother. However he felt Hook was just as horrible as his father. In the end Hook traded Bae to Pan’s men, presumable for something . . . What though? The Lost Boys actually thought Bae was a special boy they were looking for, he’s not. They have a photo of him . . . and off course it’s Henry!

In Storybrooke, everyone was preparing for the end. The dwarves, with the Blue Fairy’s help, created a potion to restore Happy’s memory. He lost it when he crossed the town line. They also gave Gold one for Belle, which he used on her.

Emma, Snow, and Charming had to team up with Regina as well as Hook. Hook realized what Tamara and Greg were planning with the destruction of the town, and he liked his life more than he liked the idea of getting revenge on Gold/Rumple. Because Henry was born in this world, he would not die. Everyone else would with Storybrooke. They kept coming up with various plans to try and save the town. They were going to try and use the last bean David and Hook stole from Tamara and Greg to escape while Regina tried and slow the crystal down to buy them time. However they realized Regina was going to sacrifice herself, and then they decided for some reason to do what they could to save her by sending the crystal through the portal. Unfortunately Hook went and stole the last bean so he could save his own hide. In the end, Emma and Regina together had enough power to stop the crystal from blowing the whole town and everyone off the map. Yay happy ending? Nope!

Their celebration was short lived, Henry was gone. Hook then returned AGAIN! Tamara and Greg took Henry, but why? Blowing up Storybrooke was never the plan, it was a distraction to get Henry. Gold used his globe to locate where Henry was, and Hook recognized the place . . .he knew where they were taking him, to Neverland and to Pan. They all borded the Jolly Roger and took off through a portal in the sea to Neverland.

So what does Pan want with Henry? Giving his lineage, he must have a lot of unknown power. Who or what is Pan? We still don’t know. All we’ve seen is his shadow. I actually think that is why he has been looking for a very special boy. I think all Pan is right now is a Shadow, and he needs to attach himself to a special boy to become human. I think Henry is that boy. Finally Bae did end up in another world . . but where? We knew that when he was found my Aurora, Mulan and Phillip. I wondered when they’d show back up. Seems he finally made it back home, or to what is left of it.

Glee: A Lackluster Season Finale

Glee: A Lackluster Season Finale

Posted by Dustin on 05.12.2013 at 6:34 pm

I have to say, I wasn’t all that thrilled with “Glee’s” season finale this year. As I thought in my last post, it seems they will carry the current school year over in the fall. My guess is the mid-season finale before their 8 week hiatus will be graduation and nationals. Then when they finally return, it will be a new school year. I wonder if this is when suddenly everyone will be in New York?

Rachel auditioned for “Funny Girl,” and unless I blocked it out, I don’t think we found out if she got the part?

Britney got into MIT. She ended up pushing all her friends away and acting horribly towards them. After Regionals she confided that she got early acceptance and has to leave immediately, which is why she acted the way she did. Okay that is NOT what early acceptance means. She also hasn’t actually finished high school yet. This was the dumbest thing “Glee” has ever done!

We learned that Unique in fact is Kitty who was cat-fishing Rider. Zzzzzz, that was predictable. I was hoping they’d chose someone else. Also Rider threw a hissy over this and told The Shue that he’d be leaving Glee Club after Regionals. So long, I didn’t really like you!

Blain planned to propose to Kurt, even though Kurt’s dad and Sam both told him he was way too young. I guess this means that other guy Kurt was seeing will be gone? I actually liked him!

The Nude Erections won Regionals, which means they are off to Nationals sometime in the next season. Will and Emma also finally got married, in the choir room of all places. Emma wanted a no-pressure wedding. I think that was the only good part of this finale!

Bates Motel: What’s Up Number 9?

Bates Motel: What’s Up Number 9?

Posted by Dustin on 05.08.2013 at 1:28 pm

So the season of “Bates Motel” is quickly coming to a close. I think next week is either the finale or the next to last episode. So what have we learned?

Well the Sheriff covered for Norma and the boys, but I have to wonder why? He made it seem like he didn’t want the bad publicity, his own deputy being involved with a sex trade scandal with Keith Summers and all. However after tonight’s episode where Norma tried to push him for a favor involving the vote on the bypass, he pushed back. My guess is he covered because he has things of his own to hide. I think he knew about Zack’s involvement with Keith. I also am beginning to think he may be one of the heads of the marijuana field that Dylan works at.

Norman found a stray puppy he began to love, so the world had to take it away by having it run down in the middle of the street. I really didn’t need to see that! I can take shooting and gutting of people, but couldn’t they leave the cute dog alone? This of course led Norman to learn taxidermy from Emma’s father. So they gave us an explanation for adult Norman’s creepy hobby.

Norma’s elation over having a mysterious guest in room 9 who paid for a lot of rooms, but wouldn’t say why, soon turned sour as she felt he was up to no good. Really Norma? You think? She followed him around, it seems he went to either Keith or Zach’s boat looking for something, and then he caught her. He knew all about her and Zach and he demanded she give “it” to him or else! She had no clue what he was talking about. He said if she thinks about it, she knows! She threw him out, but that won’t be the end of him. The final scene had her finding Zach’s corpse in her bed!

My guess is he wants the book Norman found, and there may be a lot more to it than what we thought. I think he was a partner with Zach and Keith, or even the ring leader.
