Grey’s Anatomy: Chaotic Buyers!

Grey’s Anatomy: Chaotic Buyers!

Posted by Dustin on 02.15.2013 at 1:35 pm

So the past two episodes of “Grey’s” continued to set up the millionaire doctors to buy the hospital. However this wasn’t without its problems. Not all the doctors were initially on board, namely Arizona and Christina. Neither were sold on the idea. Also there were financial and legal problems, such as doctors can’t own a hospital they work at. I’m not sure if this is real or made up for television, because it seems to me doctors own their practices? Whatever, they would have to form some bizarre board to get around that one. Finally, and the biggest issue was they didn’t have enough money with all their winnings combined. They needed to buy time, and Pegasus was ready to make an offer.

Callie and Weber went under cover to a local hospital that was purchased by Pegasus, and they didn’t like what they found. A machine run, cold and unfeeling place where all the doctors felt trapped and miserable.

Back at Seattle Grace, the doctors there were finally starting to feel the Pegasus treatment as well. The interns were all preparing to flee to other hospitals, and Christina after confronting them couldn’t deny their logic. They came here to learn to be the best, that didn’t seem to be in their future here. Bailey had tests denied a child patient, which could have saved his life without more horrible surgeries. Bailey told the kids parents to leave this hospital, find a better place for their son. She then told Arizona she was thinking it’s time for her to go as well, maybe move to LA and be with her husband.

Arizona and Christina got onboard after these encounters, but Pegasus was moving in fast. To stall, the doctors all quit at the board meeting where the deal was going down. Without the doctors, and especially Derek, Pegasus pulled out of the deal.

However the doctors now are unemployed and still don’t have the money to buy the hospital! Now it looks like they could really be in deep. Next week Owen finds out what Christina has done, and he isn’t happy at all. Christina could be out a job and a boyfriend. These two can’t win can they?

I will say I am enjoying this new twist in the story, and am even liking the new interns. Ross defacing all of Derek’s posters around the hospital, on his orders was great!

Nashville: Teddy’s Going Down!

Nashville: Teddy’s Going Down!

Posted by Dustin on 02.14.2013 at 1:39 pm

I had decided, after so many of the shows I picked up to blog about got cancelled, to add “Nashville” to the blog. I had watched it from the beginning, but this was one show I wasn’t sure if it would actually survive. The joke was on me I guess!

So Teddy has been digging himself deeper and deeper into a hole that I don’t think he realizes he’s digging. In spite of his claims of faithfulness to Rayna, we learned last week that he had been sleeping with that Peggy woman, in the past and now again in the present. He then dropped a bomb on Rayna and asked for a divorce.

While on tour and dealing with the news Rayna has kissed Deacon and her new producer guitar player. She almost went all the way with the later, but stopped herself. She went home to tell the girls the divorce news with Teddy. Later their oldest dropped her own bomb on Rayna. She overheard her dad on the phone with Peggy and told her mom. Rayna seemed stunned, the daughter naturally assumed her mom knew . . .

Something tells me Rayna’s dad is not going to be pleased, not after all he did for Teddy. I still don’t believe Teddy won the election fairly, I think either he or Rayna’s dad rigged it. I think this will come out, along with his older financial scheme . . . Teddy’s going down!

Gunnar has moved in with Scarlett, though they are “only friends.” Gunnar’s brother also showed up, he’s left Texas and thus in violation of his parole. Scarlett wanted him gone, but by the end of the show allowed him to stay a few days. Something tells me he will complicate any chance of Gunnar and Scarlett becoming an item. He’s also got a gun in his luggage, which means he could be planning something.

Finally Avery is still around and reaping the rewards of being signed to a label. Frankly I loath his character and see no point for him. I’m not sure how we are supposed to care about him after all he did to Scarlett?

Then there is poor Juliette. She’s trying to go her own way with her music, take it in a more grown up direction. Her manager quit, she blew up at her crew. Something tells me she’s headed for a crash soon.

And those are just my thoughts on “Nashville” so far!

Once Upon A Time: Fe Fi Fo Fum!

Once Upon A Time: Fe Fi Fo Fum!

Posted by Dustin on 02.11.2013 at 4:24 pm

So “Once Upon A Time” finally returned last night. I’m going to have to re-watch it as usual, because I always miss something the first time through. I also didn’t find myself as drawn to the episode as others, so I wasn’t watching that closely. For me it was too much about the past and the giant than anything else.

Henry, Emma and Gold go off to NY to find Bae. Not much came of this, next week is when this story seems to be going down. From the previews I have a feeling Bae is also Henry’s dad and Emma’s ex . . .

Also a minor story was Belle’s continued issues. She has no memory of who she was, but knows she saw Gold healing her and casting a fireball. She doesn’t understand this, and everyone was trying to convince her the accident just has messed with her mind. However the man in the car, Greg, also knows what he saw and came to her to talk . . . Oh lord if they strike up a romance, Gold won’t be happy! I also think there is a possibility he is Bae, especially after the “Star Wars” ringtone on his phone.

This episode mainly focused on Anton “Tiny” the giant in the past and present. In the past we learned that there were many giants, but they were taken out by the humans, namely James and his friend Jaqueline aka “Jack.” The giants didn’t trust humans and wouldn’t trade their beans with them anymore, but the humans wanted the beans. Tiny tried to befriend Jack and James, to work things out, only to be betrayed by them. Tiny was the only one to survive with a bean plant in tact, all other plants were said to be destroyed so humans could never use them again.

In the present, prisoner Hook reveals to Mary Margaret and David that Cora brought a secret weapon on the ship with them. It was the giant, who she was able to make small so he could travel. When Tiny saw David, he thought he was his brother who betrayed his trust, and wanted to kill him.

Regina learned of her mom’s cargo and decided to make use of his as a distraction. A distraction for what though? Regina has definitely given up on being good it seems. She made Tiny big again so he could kill David, but he started going nuts on the whole town. Eventually David made a deal to sacrifice himself for the others . . . but the magic wore off and Tiny was taken down.

Once a smaller size, David explained all to Tiny. We also learned David’s real name is David. We never knew his name before in the other world I don’t believe. When Tiny learned they were trapped with no way back, he had a way. He had a magic bean plant they could use, but warned them it was also what Cora wanted from him too.

So we have another new character in town, as Tiny got adopted by the other dwarves as a brother. As I said in the beginning of this post, it wasn’t my favorite episode. The minor stories were more interesting than the major story.

Glee: New York New York

Glee: New York New York

Posted by Dustin on 02.09.2013 at 4:57 pm

So it’s been a long time since I blogged about “Glee.” Part of that is the insane hiatuses the show takes, and the other part is that my love for the show started to fade. The entire “show within a show” aspect of splitting time between McKinley and New York just wasn’t working out. While “Glee” has always on many levels been “The Rachel Show,” it really became that once she hit New York. Meanwhile back at McKinley, I really wasn’t finding myself caring about the new recruits like Marnie and Jacob and what not. Meanwhile Shue and Emma have been far too absent, and there is only so many times we can deal with sectionals and regionals drama.

It seems the show also realized this new format wasn’t working. While the show has been given another season, it will take place in New York. They have definitely been working to send more of the regular cast there as well. Santana has made the jump to New York, Kurt made it into Nyada, Britney somehow is a genius when it comes to SATs which will be her ticket to college, and I still feel Finn will end up in New York going to school as well. I could also see Mercedes leaving L.A. to give New York a try.

Some of the things I have liked as of late? The Tina, Blaine and Sam love triangle is somewhat hilarious, and I loved Tina singing Madonna. Nobody is going to end up happy though. I think Blaine will end up in New York eventually and complicate things for Kurt and Adam.

Finn kissing Emma was predictable, but I wonder what the consequences will be. I think he doesn’t really like her, he just has a rebound crush.

Rachel being put in her place by Kurt was long over due. She’s become a nightmare and I tend to loath when she takes up more time than she needs to nowadays.

That’s it that I can think of off the top of my head I’m afraid. The countdown is on to Nationals and eventually another graduation.

Pretty Little Liars: Who Is In The Red Hood?

Pretty Little Liars: Who Is In The Red Hood?

Posted by Dustin on 02.07.2013 at 8:04 pm

So the past few episodes of “Pretty Little Liars” seem to be moving a little slower than normal, and introducing various side stories that I don’t know where they will come into the bigger picture.

With Fitz off meeting his baby, Aria was getting to know his little brother who feels sore that Ezra left him to cope with their overbearing family. She definitely felt he was cute, but he has a bad boy streak.

Caleb meanwhile suddenly became interested in his dead beat dad who ran out on him when his grandma’s old house was going up for sale after her death. Hannah pushed him to visit it and look through things, which is where they ran into his dad’s brother. Long story short, it looks like Caleb’s uncle might actually be his bio dad . . .

Spencer remained nasty as ever, but hasn’t seemed to tell any of her friends what is going on with Toby. She’s hired a PI to track him down in hopes some part of him actually did or does love her, but she just seems to keep getting her hopes dashed.

Alison’s body was returned to her family for a second burial, but the things they all put in her casket are still in A’s hands to be used to torture them. Spencer had had it with pretending to mourn for Alison, as she was a terrible person. She also told Jason that they suspect Alison was pregnant when she died, it might be why she died, and they believe Jason’s old friend the Detective was the dad! Drama is coming!

The big twist in this episode came when Emily went to see the psychiatrist to deal killing the guy who stalked her and Maya. She ended up using hypnosis, and remembering a whole lot more than she bargained for. She remembered the night at the graveyard when someone dug up Alison’s body and left her unconscious there. She remembered in the background was a girl with blond hair and in a red hoodie. She couldn’t see her face, but she was the real A, she’s who is in charge. Aria said what they were all thinking, could it be Alison? Could she actually be alive?

I’ve been thinking this for awhile now. Whenever they have these “dreams” that Alison has visited them, they’ve all remarked how real she actually seemed to them. I’m thinking Alison could be A and she’s trying to find out who tried to off her and punish them, as well as punish the girls for some reason? Though then why would Toby and Mona who seemingly hated Alison work for her or help her? Hmmmmm . . . .

9021….Oh No Things Got Depressing!

9021….Oh No Things Got Depressing!

Posted by Dustin on 02.07.2013 at 11:42 am

So I finally got caught up on “90210.” Last week’s dream episode was just plain silly, and this week’s episode was down right depressing!

Dixon continues to be a Dixhead, stealing money Adrianna had been working hard for to buy out her counteract an using it to set a fake scholarship to keep his new girlfriend from having to move back home. When the truth came out it blew up, and both girls are furious with him. Good!

Liam’s life is spiraling out of control after the whole kidnapping thing. He’s become pretty angry, taken up boxing, and looks to be moving on to other things. Wait didn’t “The O.C.” do this story with Ryan’s character already?

Annie was getting her life back together after getting shot by the insane cop. Both the cop and Vanessa are gone. Annie learned about Reily and his surgery to fix his legs. He didn’t want her to know because of the dangers involved, but he was doing it to give her a life with him that he felt he couldn’t currently give her. He made it through the surgery and Annie visited him. All was looking good, until the final few minutes when Annie called the hospital to check up on him and learned a blood clot formed and he was dead. What !?!?! Damn! I am suspicious that he’s not dead, that he had a doctor lie to Annie because things didn’t work out. However this also leads Liam and Annie to possibly get back together.

Things aren’t going much better for Noami either. She found out that Max didn’t go to a gamercon in Switzerland, he went home to stay at mommy and daddy’s house. The bad news kept coming. She ran into her old boss, who’s replacement for Naomi is doing wonderful things and hosting parties around the world. Then she learned Max had decided he wants to go back to school at MIT. Noami blew up at him, realizing they were once again over, because Max doesn’t seem to want to grow up. This pissed me off as I really liked them together!

Finally there was the also depressing story going on with Teddy and Silver. They are in court battling one another and Teddy says the only way he’ll let the embryos be born is if a surrogate carries them. Something tells me Silver is just going to risk her life again with the IVF treatments . . .

Smash 2 Hour Premier Tonight!

Smash 2 Hour Premier Tonight!

Posted by Dustin on 02.05.2013 at 2:23 pm

“Smash” returns tonight with a two hour premier. The first hour has been on demand, and I watched it a week or so ago. I really enjoyed it and the new direction the show has taken. I hope it does well and continues to stick around, as I’m interested in seeing where things go.

I don’t want to spoil too much, but we all know from talk last year that the scheming Ellis is gone and the show is writing out Julia’s husband and it looks like Tom’s new love interest. The later two do appear in the first episode, Ellis thankfully does not.

Below is the official release for the premier, though it seems to really only cover the first hour.

ON BROADWAY / THE FALLOUT – February 5th 9pm
Back from a successful run in Boston, Eileen (Anjelica Huston), Julia (Debra Messing) and Tom (Christian Borle) are blindsided by both personal and professional obstacles as they seek to take “Bombshell” to Broadway. Karen (Katharine McPhee) consults her new mentor, Broadway star Veronica “Ronnie” Moore (guest star Jennifer Hudson), as she finds herself on the brink of fame, but her success may come at cost to Ivy (Megan Hilty). A new talent (Jeremy Jordan) is discovered in an unexpected place. Meanwhile, Derek (Jack Davenport) copes with a damaging accusation. Leslie Odom, Jr., Andy Mientus and Krysta Rodriguez also star. Jennifer Hudson, Harvey Fierstein, Thorsten Kaye, and Brian d’Arcy James guest star.
