Drop Dead Diva: Owen’s Return!

Drop Dead Diva: Owen’s Return!

Posted by Dustin on 07.23.2012 at 8:17 pm

So yet again, another “Drop Dead Diva” catchup post. My last post got a huge number of comments, so I figured I probably shouldn’t let so much time pass before another post!

Owen has yet to return at this point, and we don’t know where he is. He went to Minneapolis, we know this. We also know thanks to Stacy and Terry that his ex-girlfriend lives there. So everyone seems to think he ran off, and because he hasn’t contacted Jane, this has been accepted. However in two weeks we have his return thanks to the previews. Why is he back now? Maybe because of the trouble Jane is in?

By the end of the latest episode it all hit the fan with the new investor Parker brought in to replace Luke. Terry always loathed her because of her history with her at an old job/law firm. Eventually Terry was able to bring Kim on board when they discovered that a client of hers was laundering money. When this was brought to Parker’s attention, Parker agreed to quietly work to get rid of her ASAP. However it wasn’t fast enough, at the end of the episode the offices were raided and everyone was arrested by the FBI for money laundering! My guess is this goes beyond just one client, and is why this woman wanted to invest in the firm. She probably used them as a front for others.

The latest episode also softened Luke a bit. I guess the writers realized they had written him to be an ass, so we saw a bit of his nice side come out while supporting Stacy during an awards ceremony. Sure he was initially blackmailed into attending it by Jane, but in the end he was there for Stacy. Maybe he isn’t such a horrible angel? Why then is he so hard on Jane?

Jane and Grayson went on an out of town work trip, came very close to kissing, but were interrupted. Even worse, Grayson never tried to make the move on Jane during several opportune moments. Jane felt this meant it just wasn’t meant to be, but what she didn’t know was Luke worked his magic on Grayson before the trip even began! He told him that what he needed to be was the supportive friend, not the rebound guy. Stacy gave Grayson the push he needed at the end of the episode, but before anything happened is when the FBI arrested them all . . . GRRR!

As I started this post off, in two weeks we see the return of Owen. Where has he been? Many feel he may have been sick and sought treatment at the Mayo clinic. However whatever he tells Jane, she doesn’t seem to even want to hear or accept it. We see her brushing him off and saying something to the affect that “is no excuse” for what he did. If he was sick, would she be so hard on him? I don’t know, maybe she would. Maybe she’d be pissed that he didn’t feel he could tell her about something so important?

I like Owen, but at this point he’s screwed up over and over with Jane. Grayson has too, but at least his excuse is Luke. I don’t know who I want to see Jane with! I feel she probably should be with Grayson though, as it is a true love story transcending all. But does Grayson love Jane for who she is now, or who Deb was? Grrrrr!

Falling Skies: Fish Head Overlords and Spiders!

Falling Skies: Fish Head Overlords and Spiders!

Posted by Dustin on 07.23.2012 at 7:46 pm

This is another catch-up post as I didn’t post about “Falling Skies” last week. Basically both of these weeks were very Karen focus, as Hal’s harnessed ex returned. Last week she was found alive with a bunch of dumped de-harnassed kids, but she had not lost her link. Her soul purpose was to lure Ben away. She did so under the guise that they’d join the rebellion, and were a danger to the 2nd Mass because of their link to the aliens. However once away, Karen showed her true colors. She was luring Ben away because they wanted to use him to find Red-Eye and the rebels. Fortunately, Hal and others showed up to save him before they could re-harness him. The fish head overlord was taken into custody by Tom and the others. This sent Karen to negotiate for his release. Tom and the 2nd Mass tried to use this to get them time to make it south to Charleston, but then a new alien showed up . . . spider aliens! Tom talked with the Overlord, through Ben, who told him that they go from planet to planet, usually ones whose population have squandered their planets. What they do, we don’t know yet. The Overlord assured Tom just like the other places they go, they do their work and leave, they weren’t there to conquer them. Tom wasn’t sure he was getting the truth, and ended up shooting the Fish Head! They used his wounding to make a real deal with Karen to buy them time to flee, as they knew they couldn’t trust Karen. The show ended with the 2nd Mass moving south, and Ben saying goodbye to strike out on his own. Ben knew his leaving would keep them safe, and he had to join the rebellion and try and pull other de-harnessed kids into it.

So those spiders were horrific! It was like sci-fi horror meets urban legend, with them spawning inside of you. Poor Jamal though, that actor can’t get a break. Killed off on ‘Harper’s Island’ and wrongly accused and nearly beaten to death on ‘The Killing,’ and now an alien spider’s nest! I have a feeling Captain Weaver’s death is imminent at this point.

I don’t know what to make of what the Overlord Fish Head revealed to Tom. I’m wondering if what they want is some kind of energy source or mineral? Their towers do look like drills. Maybe they target worlds where their inhabitants have already destroyed the ecosystem to a point that the Fish Heads feel it’s doomed anyways?

I have a feeling Charleston is either going to be a huge trap, or they are going to arrive there and find the Doctor’s husband and son alive and waiting there. I think she claimed she saw them shot down? But Weaver thought his family was dead too. I found it odd that her husband and son were brought up in this episode by Lourdes just as Tom and her have finally started, you know, touching each other . . . and by touching I mean hugging and acknowledging what they are feeling. A monkey wrench is coming for them, I am sure.

Big Brother 14: Chima 2.0!

Big Brother 14: Chima 2.0!

Posted by Dustin on 07.22.2012 at 8:12 pm

Not long after Frank won HOH, the house exploded! The minute the shiznat started to go down, the feeds were cut for several hours. Therefore we don’t know how much editing went into any of the explosions in the house, but it’s safe to say CBS didn’t have to twist things very much in order to make the villain look like a villain . . . Said person is, however, now claiming they didn’t want to be expelled from the show . . . which goes against all that played out in the house . . .

Dan was down to his last player Danielle, with Kara going out. However he wasn’t going to give up. Meanwhile Boogie and Janelle both knew, along with their teams, the best way to get Willie out of the house was to keep Frank. This is why everyone gave the boot to Kara last week. Fortunately for them, Frank won HOH, which put Willie in the mood from hell. The entire house was turning on Willie, even his own teammates.

Janelle told Britney that Willie needs to go, he’s destroying everything, even their alliance. Britney even acknowledge that he was ruining everything for her and her team.

Dan urged Danielle to get close to Janelle’s team and players. Meanwhile JoJo sucked up to Frank saying she’s sorry about Willie and what he’s done to ruin things between their teams.

Frank revealed his HOH room to the house guests. Boogie, as Frank’s coach, also got some treats in his side room. Willie meanwhile was just steaming mad, stayed as long as he could in the room before he finally took off.

Willie came to talk to Britney, who was not pleased with him. She tried to make him realize how his actions have made her look like a fool, and the rest of his teammates now have targets on their back. Willie knew he screwed up, but this was an individual game, not a team game. She said he was not going to get very far on his own and was doing a terrible job at playing this game, and he had screwed them all.

Shane and Danielle seem to have the first showmance of the season going.

Dan, Britney and Boogie talked about the coaches challenge. She flat out brought up trading Willie if she won. Boogie told her to try and cut her losses and just lose Willie this week. He said if she got rid of Willie via a trade, then Shane would be the biggest target on her team. Britney knew what Boogie was doing, and she wasn’t going to be bullied out of getting rid of Willie if she could.

Ian and Ashley had a “slop” date. This is some time editing, as this actually happened before the eviction and HOH I believe.

Britney talked with JoJo and Shane, both of them agreed they needed to dump Willie if one of their team had to go. Britney also told them not to worry about Willie, look out for themselves.

The coaches competition was held, which was some hip-hop inspired competition. The game involved transferring a pile of cash across a balance beam. The winning coach not only would trade or save someone, but got to pick the four have-nots. Dan planned to throw the game, because that kept him and Danielle looking weak and possibly not a target. Britney was a monster and was winning, until she accidentally knocked her cash over! In the end Janelle won, because Boogie stepped off the beam before finishing the game via the rules, because he wasn’t listening. Janelle chose to keep Ashley safe. She also made Willie, JoJo, Shane and Ian the have nots. Ian apparently volunteered once again for this though.

Willie tried to rally his team, but Britney wasn’t going to have that. She yanked JoJo away from him and told her not to talk to Willie, ignore him, don’t be seen with him. Later Willie told Jojo that he would get the heat off her. Britney told Willie to stop it, he was putting others in jeopardy. She told him it was only Friday, just relax. Meanwhile up in the HOH, everyone else had gathered and they were having a party and of course raging on Willie. Willie then ended up going up and crashing their party.

Willie told everyone in the HOH room not to worry, he would probably get himself evicted this week before he got voted out. Later Jojo told Willie that she was sorry, but she can’t associate with him. She says he made his bed. Willie sat around in the have not room and stewed for awhile. Later he continued to stir the drama. He told Britney everyone was such a big bunch of (bleeped out). Britney told him to go out with class, but he wouldn’t. When Willie called Janelle a bitch, Joe said something back to him. Willie tore after Joe, screaming at him and saying “hit me, hit me!” Ian got caught in the middle of the two of them and was scared for his life! Willie began head butting Joe over and over.

Willie was called away by production to the DR, and promptly evicted from the game! The guests were gathered in the living room and told this news by Allison Grodner.

However in reality, apparently a lot more time had passed during the head butts and the eviction. It looks like we saw a sped up version. When the feeds came back hours later, they discussed all the stuff that went down. For example, at one point the others were hiding Ian in the HOH because something happened and they all were worried for him.

With Willie gone, the show is down a player, and short a week . . . which probably means at some point they will get to vote someone back into the game.

Make It Werk! Runway Returns For Its 10th Anniversary Edition!

Make It Werk! Runway Returns For Its 10th Anniversary Edition!

Posted by Dustin on 07.20.2012 at 8:02 pm

‘Project Runway’s’ new season began last night with a celebration that it’s been on the air for ten years now. They celebrated this with a runway challenge and show in Time Square.

Now as usual, I’m not going to remember most of these peoples names until a few weeks in, when we whittle them down. I mean by time the runway challenge came around I found myself saying “Who is that, I don’t remember them until this very moment!”

The challenge involved bringing one pre-made outfit that represented them as a designer, and then having to make a second complimentary one. Several people really stepped it up, and Ven Budha already has a target on his back from several for his ability four coutuuuuuurrrreeee!

In the end it came down to Kooan Kosuke (aka “Crazy Afro Asian” as I kept calling him since I didn’t know his name) and two others, Lantie Foster who was some seemingly stuck up woman who reworked vintage clothing and Beatrice Guapo, a crunchy granola who was way into knit fabrics. Beatrice was out, which I thought was a mistake. I felt Lantie was just naaaaaasty on the runway, and as Michael Koors and others pointed out she just reworked ugly old clothes into ugly new clothes. She should have gone. I’m glad Crazy Afro Asian stayed, because I thought he was hilarious!

From the previews, and previous seasons, we probably have a few weeks of the dreaded team challenges ahead of us. That always brings out the drama, and Lantie is sure to serve it up!

Dallas: A Baby Explosion!

Dallas: A Baby Explosion!

Posted by Dustin on 07.20.2012 at 7:35 pm

So it’s been three episodes since I posted about “Dallas” . . . Sorry! Sometimes when I don’t feel like I have enough to post about in one episode other than a recap, I wait till the next, then I get busy, and things snowball. Obviously I can’t touch on every little thing, plus I can’t remember every little thing, so I’ll just touch on some stories I recall and have been pondering.

Even thought everyone knew some kind of fraud had taken place with the sale of Southfork, even the authorities were at a loss to find a way to block it. This is the one storyline that had been eating away at me! Thought JR gained control of the land, Bobby and Christopher found a way to block the drilling rights thanks to a guilt ridden Rebecca who was trying to make things up to Christopher. She and her brother had learned (in their scammer research) that long ago the deeds between the land and oil drilling rights had been separated . . . Basically they need a majority vote by all the Ewing kids to drill, or they can’t. Right now John Ross is trying to get them from the estranged family members/siblings.

There is, however, a glimmer of hope for Bobby and Christopher. The latest episode had John Ross going nuts over Marta’s betrayal of him. He went to the men who JR used to funnel Southfork to him . . . who are predictably threatening to take it since there seems to be no oil money coming their way. He talked to them about how Marta betrayed them both, and was a problem he needed gone to get things moving again. Next we knew it, Marta was dead and unfortunately John Ross is the prime suspect! My guess is John Ross isn’t going to go down for something he didn’t do, even if he has to offer J.R. and the truth about who Marta really was up. Oh and I think the news of “Marta’s” death would make papers, and people would find out who she really was anyways. That could, unfortunately, be good for Bobby but even worse for John Ross.

Rebecca has been trying to make things up to Christopher, but he won’t have it. Who will however is Ann, and she’s become even more of a Rebecca defender after it came out that she was pregnant. Christopher wanted a paternity test done, and it came out that Rebecca was pregnant with twins! Oh no, I hope they aren’t gonna pull a “Days of Our Lives/Sami” on us!

Meanwhile over the past few weeks we’ve met Ann’s ex-husband, and it’s clear it was not the best marriage. Clearly this is why she’s had a soft spot for Rebecca. Her ex sent her some locket which sent her over the edge, and we finally learned the “not so shocking” secret that they had a kid. What happened to the kid? Well I’m going to guess it may be Christopher . . . why else have they been talking so much about his adoption these past few weeks?

Last, but not least, Elena proved she was no dummy in this last episode. She knew why Christopher pushed her away with his hurtful words, he was trying to be a good husband. He know what Elena back, but she feels he needs to be there for his pregnant wife. Hopefully Elena will at least learn what a jerk John Ross really is before she ends up supporting him anymore.

Big Brother 14: The First Eviction Ceremony and Second HOH!

Big Brother 14: The First Eviction Ceremony and Second HOH!

Posted by Dustin on 07.19.2012 at 8:58 pm

So this post of course has spoilers for West Coasters!

The show picked up after the veto meeting, where Shane did not use the veto.

Willie gathered his people and made his case to get Kara out, otherwise Dan would for sure nominate some of them if Kara stayed and won HOH.

Britney has noticed how much time Janelle is spending with Dan, and she thinks that Janelle may flip on her.

Britney noticed the coaches photos on the memory walls have key holes, and she suspects a twist is coming where they will play. She talked to Willie about this theory. Not only is the keyholes evidence, but if you count the weeks of the game . . . there aren’t enough players. Britney told him not to tell anyone about this yet, but Willie decided to call a meeting for the players only. Britney knows what he’s about to do and can’t believe it.

Dan took a dig at Britney, saying if this was his player then he would not have allowed that. She said “come on!” Willie simply told everyone not to let their coaches make all their decisions, play their own game. He said the coaches were playing them all against one another. Willie then told them there is a possibility the coaches would enter the game, and he told them everything Britney told him!

Britney came up to talk to Willie. At the meeting Wil ended up saying he was talking a no game talk stance for the next 24 hours. Frank and Joe and the others talked away from Willie, they compared notes and talked about how sneaky Willie is. Frank is furious that Willie made him all these promises, but put him on the block and then tried to split the votes evenly so it didn’t look like there were any deals between players. Word got back to Wil that Willie mocked him to others, making fun of his voice. Wil didn’t like that at all.

Britney went to Willie to warn him the house is turning on him fast, and he’s screwed. She said they are talking about him mocking Wil, and that Frank is working to turn the house against him. Willie was furious and went to confront Frank in the backyard. Willie says he was trying all week to save him, but Frank doubts that. Willie went nuts in front of everyone in the backyard, and it made Willie look bad in front of everyone. Willie, when confronted with his schemes in front of everyone, Willie told everyone to vote Frank out as he was shady!

Julie went to the house guests who were assembled and ready to vote. She asked them various silly questions before the vote as usual. Before the vote, Frank and Kara both got to plead their cases. Frank told them not to let a bully tell them how to play the game, and to play their game on their own and not how the coaches tell them . . . unless the coaches tell them to keep him. Kara of course used the “vote for who will get you further” line.

The voting began . . .

Danielle, Shane and JoJo voted to evict Frank.
Joe, Ian, Jen, Wil and Ashley voted to evict Kara.

Julie revealed that by a vote of 5 to 3, Kara has been evicted.

Kara spoke to Julie after her eviction. Julie asked why she thought she was evicted when she avoided all the drama? Kara said people were scared of Dan, and that there were alliances. She also thought her being quiet and laying low may have worked against her. Kara watched her messages.

We then went to the new HOH game. The day before the house guests were awoken to news that a cat burglar was loose in the house. They watched news reports on the tv screen of what the burglar was up to while they slept.

The competition was of course a trivia game based on what the burglar did in the broadcasts, and in the end it was Frank who won the HOH. Needless to say, Willie probably isn’t very happy!

Before the broadcast ended, Julie threw out a twist to the coaches and the players. Julie revealed that the coach that wins this week’s coaches competition will have to decide to keep a player safe, or trade a player for another coaches player! Everyone is eligible except Frank the HOH.

Big Brother 14: The First Veto Ceremony

Big Brother 14: The First Veto Ceremony

Posted by Dustin on 07.18.2012 at 8:01 pm

Frank and Kara are on the block, mainly because Willie is going after Boogie and Dan’s player. Frank wants to know why Willie betrayed him when he thought they had a deal, while Kara is devastated and worries she’s the next to go. Frank talked to Willie, who said this was simply done because Boogie is after him.

Britney and Janelle are still working together and trying to figure out who should go home. They are after Dan and Boogie’s players.

Ian showed off his useless talent one night, which was to kick himself in the face. This of course got everyone in the backyard laughing. He was playing a social game to get everyone to like him.

Players were drawn for the veto competition. Willie, Frank and Kara were playing as they are the HOH and the nominated. Danielle was drawn, who was on Kara’s team. Shane was picked, as was Wil. The host was to be JoJo.

Both Frank and Kara brown nosed Shane, as everyone seemed to think that he would be a shoe in to win this competition because he was such an athlete.

Boogie went to talk to Britney and feel her out, oh and say hello to her . . . on day six! He was sure she and Janelle had a “Blonde Ambition Alliance” going on. Britney was no fool, it took him six days to talk to her, let alone say hello, and she was insulted. Mike wanted to put Joe up if possible as a replacement nom . . . but he wanted to know if Janelle’s people were off limits? He was of course testing her. She said no, she is looking out for her people number one. However Britney knew Boogie was playing her, or trying to, and was laughing at him in her confessional. Britney ran to tell Janelle about their talk, and how Boogie was trying to subtly threaten her to make sure Joe is a replacement nomination . . . otherwise “the lines would be drawn.”

Boogie then went to Janelle and sold Dan out to her, trying to make some kind of deal with her as well should Dan lose another player this week. He was trying to paint a target on Dan’s players, as it would give her a 1 in 3 shot at winning if they got Dan out so soon. Janelle knew Boogie was just up to his old tricks, and like Britney, she wasn’t falling for it. Janelle then went straight to Dan to tell him that Boogie’s already sold him out!

The veto competition involved running down a slippery slope to a washing machine, having to find three types of coins amidst soap and clothes, and return them one at a time to a vending machine in order to total $1.30. In the end, Shane won the game and the veto.

Britney and Shane discussed the plusses of not using the veto. Britney felt it was best they not use it, it’s the first veto of the season. Shane wasn’t so sure, he might be able to make deals for himself if he used it. Boogie tried to talk game to Shane, warning him if Frank goes out this early, then Shane is the next physical target because both are in good shape.

Shane had a lot of decisions to make. The veto ceremony took place, and in the end Shane chose not to use the power of veto. He said this was the first week, it was in his best interest not to use it, and it was nothing personal.

Army Wives: Some Come, Some Go

Army Wives: Some Come, Some Go

Posted by Dustin on 07.16.2012 at 7:36 pm

So this is again a general post on “Army Wives,” as I never got around to writing one for last week’s episode. Truth be told, I’m kinda getting annoyed with my Sunday night TV shows, so many of them are fizzling out this season.

Last week . . . well aside from the story with Patti LuPone and Kelly Martin (reunited again as mother and daughter) . . . I can’t remember what happened? Gloria bonded with Trevor’s friend, as both their marriages were going down the drain. They both gave the other strength, and Gloria tried to work things out with Hector and suggested concealing. I don’t mind Gloria at all, but Hector has got to go! The man is just a jerk.

Frank felt defeated after Kevin opted to leave his team out of the Afghanistan mission. Frank felt it was payback for Africa. It was, but not vindictively. Kevin admitted to send them out so soon would reflect badly on the army as a whole. This seems to play into the previews at the end of this week for next week’s show. Frank was seen telling Denise she should consider the advice of a co-worker and move her career ahead, as his is clearly going nowhere.

This week saw the return of Pamela and Chase. Yay! Can we have them back forever please? They invited Roxie and Trevor down to Miami for a vacation, but also an offer. Chase told Trevor he had a position for him in his company, and he’d hold it until Trevor served out his existing contract with the army. Roxie was ready to jump at it, but Trevor didn’t seem to want to hear any of it. The previews for next week have them going at it. Sorry Trevor, but at this point, you are being a Hector! They are already struggling with their bills and have not one, but two babies on the way. That’s four kids to take care of and plan for their future education. It’s time for Trevor to stop expecting his family to fall in check with his aspirations and think about what is best for his family in the long run.

This week also seemed to see the exit of Tanya, who left to go to Virginia to be with her new doctor lover. Before she could go though, she got into serious drama with a doctor at the hospital who was negligent yet tried to pin it on her. Frankly I thought this was the best storyline in this episode. Why introduce these new army wives when we had a good one we let gone of?

Finally we have Jackie and the arrival of her rebellious teen daughter. I just don’t know what to make of Jackie anymore. We learned her daughter acts the way she does not because she’s a brat, but because she thinks her mother doesn’t love her and devotes all her time and attention to her older brother (oh no, another kid whose arrival to expect?). I feel like there is a writer on this show who loves Jackie and wants us to love her, and another who hates her and wants us to see her as a villain. They must flip coins to see which one gets to write her for an upcoming episode. This back and forth with her character is nuts!
