True Blood: Who Killed My Parents? Was It You?

True Blood: Who Killed My Parents? Was It You?

So let’s talk about this week’s “True Blood” shall we? I was left with several questions by the end of the hour.

Thankfully Terry’s horrible story was short and sweet this week. He’s convinced the smoke monster is real, confessed all to Arlene, and said he has to leave her and the boys so they’ll be safe. My guess is Arlene will pull Holly in to try and block or stop the curse.

Lafayette visited his mom Ruby Jean, who gave him a cryptic message, but had the best line of the night. “You gotta save Jesus!” followed by a whole lot of slurs, but ones that came off as hysterically funny because of the context. Of course it just seemed like she was a ranting nut, but she really meant Jesus needed Lafayette’s help. A part of me hopes that somehow he’s still alive somewhere. Maybe his grandfather stole his body and is using him somehow?

Luna and Sam were rushed to the hospital, and fortunately Luna didn’t die. Little Emma ran straight to her grandma. The grandma brought her back to Luna in the hospital, and swore to protect her. Luna confided in her that someone was killing shifters. Sam was released and helped Andie try and hunt down this gang that is now targeting supernaturals. At first I suspected maybe grandma was behind it to get her hands on Emma. However by the end of the show the gang also targeted a vampire that was sucking on Hoyt outside of Fangtasia. They knew Hoyt and pulled him into their van. As they were Obama masks, we still don’t know who they are . . . but if they know Hoyt then it’s people from Bon Temps. Since they are targeting other “sups,” I guess it isn’t grandma after all.

At the hospital, Alcide was attacked by another wolf, who he knew as JD, the guy who had become the new pack master. Russell was captured, and to spare Sookie and Alcide from the wrath of the Authority’s cover-up, Bill and Eric came up with this phony story about stealing a car with them because a third person was in it who had been here before and that’s how they found Russell. They were both glamoured, though of course Sookie can’t be. Eric made Alcide protect Sookie with his life, but said he’d be repulsed by her sexually.

The next morning Alcide remembered nothing, but it took Sookie three seconds to figure out what Eric did to him. She touched him and gave him his memory back. He then went off to challenge JD, revealing he was on V, and has said he wants his title as pack master after all. He now has to fight JD at some point for it. Because Alcide needed someone to stand up and be his second for the challenge to be valid, some pretty young thing jumped at the chance. Have we just introduced a new love interest for Alcide? I hope she doesn’t end up crazy jealous of Sookie like Debbie was.

Jason told Sookie about the fairies and what he learned about their parents. They went to the den where Sookie met Hadley and the guy fairy who helped her escape from Mab last season. He said they are all fairies who did not agree with Mab and broke off from her, which is why they returned to the human world. Sookie read their minds to see if what Jason said was true. The male fairy says all he knew was what Claudine once told him. We saw a flashback to a strange cloaked vampire stopping Sookie’s parents on the bridge during the storm. He smelled her blood in the backseat, from an old band-aid, which is why he killed her parents. Who was the vamp? He was definitely tall like Eric. As they made a point to disguise him, it makes me think it’s someone we’ve already met on the show. Russell? He didn’t know about fairies until Bill and Eric told him. Bill? He didn’t know until the Queen told him. Eric? He’s definitely been around for a long time . . . . I’m thinking though it’s one of the guys from the Authority. Both are definitely have the build, and it didn’t look like a woman under the trench coat (or whatever it was wearing).

Back at the Authority, Russell was to be executed, and Salome kept interrogating him to try and find out information. Eric asked for permission to talk to Nora and was given it. When she learned what happened, Nora broke into religious ecstasy. She kept spouting off how “It has happened just as she said, and through Lilith there will be a rebirth, it’s a miracle!” It seemed Eric figured out what she was saying . . . . but all too late.

Back at the execution, Russell told them all they were stupid. He said the Sangunistas are religious idiots and the Authority and their belief in Lilith and their mainstreaming was just as stupid. He said he didn’t kill humans for Lilith or a movement, he did so because it’s fun and he likes it! Roman went to execute him with the iStake app . . . but it failed! Before he knew it, Russell had grabbed the stake made of Judas’ melted down gold and plunged it into Roman . . . a tear of blood rolled down Salome’s cheek . . .

So wait. . . what !?!?! First is Roman dead? We saw him in pain and pulsing, but not yet ash out or explode into guts. I’m wondering if Russell missed? Also who is the traitor? Was it Salome, or was the blood tear genuine as she realized what was about to happen? Or was it the tech girl, whose iStake app failed? Or is it the entire Authority? Have they all turned on Roman without him knowing it?

  1. I don’t think it’s the tech girl – she looked genuinely surprised. I’m guessing Salome (but that seems too obvious).

Last night’s episode was much better than last week’s.

Does anyone remember what happened to Claudine? I didn’t catch what her brother claude said (he spoke so quickly!). Did he say that at their fairy club they don’t eat light fruit?

In mythology, how does one conquer a djinn? I doubt this smoke one comes out of a lamp.

I’m surprised a vampire could smell fairy blood from that tiny band-aid from toddler-Sookie. Otherwise full-fledged vampires would be trailing Sookie constantly (I mean, other than the ones that already do) 🙂 It makes sense it was a vampire already familiar with fairies.

So is the show trying to make us think that Bill has some underlying motive regarding Russell and the authority? He’s familiar with the vampire bible, he wanted to keep Russell alive (temporarily at least), he spouts off religious material (stating he’s covering his butt).

And why didn’t the authority soldiers just glamour the humans on the bus? Are they secretly aligned with the sanguinistas?

    Lots of intrigue!

I thought the two werewolves at the Russell-takedown had been killed. Guess not, if JD was one of them – Is he Marcus’ dad?

  2. Claudine got killed by Eric when he was under the witches spell I think. But she has those 2 sisters the male pointed out.

Yeah he said at this club they don’t eat the light fruit or harvest humans. He also made a joke that they hated that Mab mad them dress like Disney characters.

I think you have to capture or confine the djinn, or bind it in some way. It’s basically an evil spirit, like a demon or devil.

Maybe I just assumed JD was one of the wolf at the takedown. I’m gonna rewatch it tonight. So much was going on.

I don’t know what his relationship is to Marcus. I just thought he was who stepped up to lead the pack?

  3. I was wondering if JD was Martha’s wife because Alcide ask him if Martha had anything to say about JD cuddling up with the young lady.

  4. Watching the rerun now. Alcide said “JD put up one hell of a fight, but ran like a coward when those two died” (or something like that)

  5. Okay yeah it has to be Salome. She claimed she had just silvered Russell, and was told to silver him again and put on his isteak. If he was really so silvered . . . he couldn’t fight back.

  6. This episode was a bit of a boring, but it was save by Russell’s appearance . The whole Tara and Jessica fight. Great. I knew those two wasn’t going to wound up as friends. However it do seem like Pam might, and I mean Might be warming up to Tara. As for Hoyt. I am so sick of his pity party that I wish Jessica had let Tara drain him. Hoyt is not interesting without Jason,or Jessica. Speaking of NOT INTERESTING. Let’s talk about Terry. I think that Terry’s friend Patrick might be the one that the Ifrit is really after, and he knows it. So he offering up his friends in exchange for his life. Other than that, I find Terry ‘s storyline boring and uninteresting.
Boring and uninteresting just like Luna. Someone killing shifters and Luna and Sam was hurt.UNfortunately Luna lived. Emma a smart wolf she ran all the way to grandma’s house. Good girl. I glad Luna decide to let Grams see Emma, however It seem like Luna have a split personality. Last week she told Sam to butt out ,and she the only one who knows what’s best for Emma, this week she begging him for advice about what to do with Emma?WTF?

Shifters are not out of the closet,so the general public do not know that they exist . so the big question is who pointed out the shifter to them? Wolves,or Hoyt’s mom?,or ?

I love Andy and Sam working together,as much as I love Andy and Jason working together . Jason shot Eggs, now Sam shot the gun store owner. Have Andy ever shot anyone? or do he just take the blame for everyone else?

I glad the fairy are back. I love getting to know more about them. I didn’t like Sookie getting all upset ,and denying that fairies might have killed her parents. I mean, why so surprise considering that Bill nearly kill one when he went to fairy land, and Eric drain her fairy godmother. ..and what are the fairy doing on earth anyway. Something just doesn’t seem right. Wasn’t the whole reason why the fairy tried to kidnapped Sookie and close the portal because it was deem unsafe on earth because of all the vampires ,so why did they return? Wasn’t a fairy just eaten by a vampire?

So I guess it safe to say it was Salome or not who dug up Russell . I’m guessing from the looks of things that the entire vampire council might be on Russell’s side. Everyone except Roman that is. RIP Roman. The vampire council talk about peace, and co-existing with humans, yet they slaughter a bus load of them. That a big clue that they on Russell’s side. However what really make me believe that most of them is backing Russell, is the fact that when Russell went to kill Roman no one tried to stop it. Not one. No one lifted a finger in protest.
