Casting News: Grimm and Private Practice
Posted by Dustin on 05.30.2012 at 4:02 pm
The big news today is the ousting of Tim Daly on “Private Practice.” Tim Tweeted last night . . . . “Wonderful fans of PPP. Shonda informed my agent today that Pete wont be returning for season 6. It was a great 5 yrs. R.I.P. Pete Wilder.”
The question is how they’ll write him out. He could easily and simply go to jail . . . but given the storyline he was involved in, I think that would simply be crummy. He did a bonehead thing, but it was also a noble thing, following his patients wishes.
They could kill him off with another heart attack. Tim did tweet “R.I.P.,” but I doubt he even knows how he’ll be written out yet.
Or they could do the safe thing and send him to South America where he had been talking about going to find himself and do good work again . . . .
Over on “Grimm,” the show is already filming the second season. NBC is said to want to kick it off right after the Summer Olympic’s end. James Frain is set to join the show in season two as the brother of Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz). “True Blood” fans will recognize James as Tara’s vampire tormenter Franklin. Source: Zap2it.

Yes, this is old news, but I never did a real post on it. “Smash,” which returns to NBC next January as a mid-season show once again, is cleaning house.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dex (Raza Jaffrey) and Ellis (Jaime Cepero) are out! There has been talk they may show up for an episode or two in order to officially see them off.
Now comes the news that Julia’s husband, played by Brian d’Arcy James and Julia’s lover-on-the-side Will Swift (Will Chase) are also out.
This might make things difficult as it appeared Julia might be pregnant in the finale episode this season.
Also out is the original creator of the show Theresa Rebeck, whose position as show runner is being taken over by Josh Safran (of “Gossip Girl” fame). Theresa Rebeck is said to stay on as the executive producer though.
Awake and Grimm Finales . . . .
Posted by Dustin on 05.25.2012 at 6:55 pm
So I do believe almost all the shows I watch have had their finales . . . Ahhhhh! Actually no, “Game of Thrones” has ONE more episode left. “The Big C” is still going on, but this season has annoyed me to no end that I’ve pretty much lost interest. Perhaps with nothing on, that will be enough to spark it. Otherwise it’s a wait until “Drop Dead Diva,” “True Blood” and “Army Wives” start back up. There is also the guilty pleasure that is “Big Brother” and ABC’s new lawsuit inspired version “The Glass House.” Oh and TNT’s “Falling Skies” also returns in June! It seems Summer won’t be that vacant after all!
So first up, “Awake” ended last night, and it’s not getting another season. I missed the last 2 episodes, but plunged into the finale. I was so lost, and I don’t think it was because I missed a few episodes. It was just bizarre! In both worlds it was a race to nail the dirty captain (who was dealing heroine with her partner that was tasked with killing Britton). As usual, the clues in each world led him to solve the case. But at the end of the show, the worlds seemed to merge. The doctors continued to stress the other world was a dream, and the one they were in was reality. The show ended with Britton finding himself sleeping in his bed, waking up without a wrist band on . . . and both his wife and son were alive! WTF ?!?!?!?! I’m so confused! I guess we’ll never get any real answers! Where would the show have even gone after that? I guess they’d have to explain what in the hell was going on! Was he dreaming the entire time? Was it some bizarre premonition of what was to come?
On “Grimm,” I was confused by much of this finale as well. A discussion has already occurred in the shoutbox about this, but I’ll just recap. Adelaide set out to get revenge on Nick and Juliette, but really Nick. She tainted some cat with a potion, and the cat scratched Adelaide. This caused her to become ill. Nick finally had to tell her the whole truth about him and the monsters, but she thought he was the sick one who needed help. She passed out before Monroe could reveal himself to her, and she was taken to the hospital. Monroe and his gal pal worked to come up with an antidote to the scratches. Meanwhile a strange woman began tracking the man who killed Nick’s parents. He was back to get those damn coins from Nick. They faced off in Nick’s house, and the mystery woman dropped in to help get rid of the guy. As Nick had his gun aimed on her, she revealed that she was his mother! Meanwhile at the hospital Juliette woke up . . . with a big set of cat eyes!
Okay I guessed fairly early on that the woman was Nick’s mother. This brings up the question as to where his father is? Also were both parents Grimms, or just one? It seemed that when his parents died, the Aunt inherited the powers, then finally Nick. Nick only began to see things when his aunt was near death. But I think this idea was later abandoned as in other stories it seems there is no one Grimm, but many Grimm . . . some who were working with those royal monsters to keep the races separate.
Also if it was so easy to turn Juliette into a monster, why didn’t Adelaide do it to herself? Or can’t she? Is she immune after tasting a Grimm’s blood? Or has Juliette not been turned, but something else is going on with her?
So many questions! NBC has been teasing that Grimm will return in “late summer,” before the usually mid-late September debuts.
Revenge Season Finale Thoughts
Posted by Dustin on 05.24.2012 at 2:13 pm
So I lost interest in “Revenge” several times during the season. I guess I wasn’t as impressed with it as everyone else was? I did tune into the finale to see what big shockers would be revealed. ABC said it would be explosive, and it was!
The show really is very soap-ish. I hadn’t seen the past 5 or so episodes, but didn’t feel that lost at all. I’m sure I missed huge revelations, but nothing that stopped me from understanding what was going on. Perhaps that’s why I didn’t keep up with it as much? That and I feel like there are very few people to like on the show.
Victoria finally seemed to find somewhat of a conscience in the past few episodes and planned to testify against her husband. Not only that he set David up, but that he hired someone to have him killed. Grayson said he did not do that, that came from someone even above him. He warned her what would happen if she did this, he couldn’t help her. Victoria also convinced Lydia to go with her, saying Grayson wouldn’t keep her around when she was no longer of use. Of course as they flew off, their plane exploded! Where they really on board though, or did they get smart and get off? I can’t see them killing Victoria off. Lydia . . . sure.
Charlotte and Dickson had a huge falling out. After she lost him, then learned of her mother on the news, she took pills. Grayson found her supposedly dead or close to death at the end. Again, I can’t see them killing her off as she and Emily are sisters.
Emily dumped Daniel and planned to go be with Jack, but then fake Amanda had returned . . . and she’s pregnant! She didn’t tell him that she loved him, or who she was.
Emily worried all her evidence to exonerate her dad was on the plane that exploded, all of this was for nothing. Nolan however had more evidence. He decrypted some hard drive they had stolen earlier and made a copy. He warned her this goes so far above Grayson Global then she can imagine. We saw a video of Victoria telling her husband long ago that she was sure David would go along with “the plan” because she knew his secret . . . his first wife who is supposedly dead . . . is very much alive! Yup, Amanda/Emily’s mom is out there somewhere.
I don’t know what is going on. I feel like they are setting up some kind of “New World Order” plot now. If that is what is going on . . . yawn!
Glee Season Finale Thoughts
Posted by Dustin on 05.23.2012 at 4:15 pm
Oh “Glee,” you broke my heart! I think that sums up how I felt overall about this finale. It was very happy, but also very depressing. Just some quick one liners on each of the characters and their futures as of what we know . . .
Sam, Artie, Tina, Rory (Irish Guy), Sugar (the annoying rich girl), Blaine, and Joe (dreads guy) were juniors, so they are the seniors next year.
While not in this episode, Unique gave the tease in the Nationals episode that she may need to consider transferring to New Directions next year. Yes please! Out of all the “Glee Project” kids, Unique/Wade is the best.
Brittany revealed that she would not be graduating as she has a 0.0 GPA, but she’s okay with it. She looks forward to doing her senior year right, and being a 2 year president. Okay, if her GPA really was 0.0 then she would not be the school president, or in Glee Club or on the Cheerios! But this is TV . . . . I’m actually glad we’ll get more Brittany next year.
Santana revealed to her mom (guest star Gloria Estefan!) that she didn’t want go to college in Kentucky, she wanted to go to New York. Her mom wanted her to go to college. However at the end of the show her mother gave her all the money she had saved to help her pay for college, which was moot as Santana had a scholarship. However Santana decided to follow her dreams and use the money to go to New York, with her mother’s blessing. So we know how we’ll be seeing much of her next season. She’ll be in NY with Rachel.
Quinn was off to Harvard and gave Rachel a gift, travel passes for them to both visit one another next year at college. So we know how Quinn will remain on the show. We will probably see her visit Rachel from time to time in New York.
Mercedes and Mike’s futures seem uncertain. We really weren’t told much about them. Mike did apply to those dance schools awhile back . . .
Rachel, Finn and Kurt opened their acceptance letters together. Kurt did not get into NYADA, but Rachel did. Finn also learned he did not get into Pace. Rachel planned to defer a year, marry Finn and help them work on their applications so they could all go to NY together. However Finn wouldn’t let that happen. He also applied to the army and was accepted. He was off to Georgia for boot camp. He “set Rachel free” knowing it was best for her.
The show ended with Rachel on a train headed to New York, then arriving there. She was to meet her dads and look at the dorm.
Okay first . . . Emma is a bad counselor! Who lets students apply to one and only one school! Earlier spoilers seemed to indicate next season would be a show within a show, part would be dedicated to the Glee club, the other part to Rachel and Kurt’s NY adventures. I am betting that somehow Kurt does get in? I am also betting Finn will probably not make it in the army and will end up in New York somehow as well.
True Blood: New Show Runner + First Three Episode Spoilers!
Posted by Dustin on 05.23.2012 at 3:49 pm
News broke awhile back that Alan Ball would stepping down as the day to day show runner of “True Blood” after this season. HBO has now revealed that current co-producer Mark Hudis will take over Alan’s role for season six and beyond (depending on how long the show is renewed for of course).
HBO also released the official spoilers for the first three shows . . .
VERY DETAILED SPOILERS FOLLOW!
… Except they still don’t reveal the fate of Tara other than she is back somehow and in some form (Vampire? Ghost? Zombie?).

American Horror Story Season 2 Details!
Posted by Dustin on 05.23.2012 at 3:29 pm
More information has come to light about the second season of “American Horror Story.” These details were revealed by Ryan Murphy in an interview he gave to Vulture.com.
We already knew from previous interviews that the season would be set in an institution on the east coast for the mentally/criminally insane. Murphy has said the theme of the season will be about sanity – what defines insane and sane? The show will also take place in the 1960s.
Jessica Lange’s character has been revealed as the head on the institution the season is set in. In addition to all the previously announced stars, James Cromwell will be joining as the other head of the institution. Also joining is Chloe Sevigny, who will play a woman locked up for liking sex too much. There will also be at least one character locked up because of their sexual orientation.
90210 Season Finale Thoughts
Posted by Dustin on 05.22.2012 at 4:10 pm
I thought I had commented on “90210’s” Season Finale, but I guess I didn’t. Actually I’m sure I did, I just think it got eaten by the blog software somehow. Because it’s been awhile, I’m keeping this short and sweet.
After Naomi crashed Max’s wedding to profess her love, he ended up not marrying the other girl as he too was still in love with Naomi. I always liked Max and Naomi, but I can’t get over how the show also destroyed them. They had Max act like an ass after the false pregnancy, and had Naomi suddenly become infatuated with Austin and kick Max to the curb. Now we are supposed to believe they’ve always loved one another?
Annie’s love affair with the priest-to-be Caleb came to an end when he realized he still wanted to be a priest, more than he wanted to be with Annie. She too did not want him to regret giving up what he always felt was his calling for her.
Adrianna, not having been stood up by Dixon, decided to go on tour with Austin and his dad. Wait . . . I feel like this cliff hanger happened before? Oh it did, back when she was in high school and left with that guy who is now dead!
Dixon meanwhile was stranded trying to get home. He left his tour to return to Adrianna. He ended up in a horrible car accident at the very end of the show. I feel like this cliff hanger happened before too . . . Oh it did last season with Liam on the bike! Frankly I wouldn’t mind if Dixon didn’t come back to the show, it’s been more enjoyable without him.
Diego chose to go back home rather than be deported, because then he had a chance to return to the country legally. Ivy however ended up buying a ticket to follow him home. You know she’ll discover something horrible about him when she gets there.
The crazy blond who crashed into Liam, then stole his money and ran returned. Liam’s movie was a success and a sequel was planned. As she was still attached as his manager, she came back because she could smell more money.
Silver ended up making her choice between Liam and Navid . . . she chose neither! The show ended with her asking Teddy to father her child. This was the only shocker of the show, and frankly the only good moment I felt. I hope this means the show will bring back Teddy full time next season.

Army Wives: Mid-Season Finale
Posted by Dustin on 05.21.2012 at 2:51 pm
First up, Army Wives returns on June 24th. Yes, it will be a long wait. It will be paired up with “Drop Dead Diva,” which I’ll also start blogging about this summer! I can’t wait for the return of that show.
I don’t know what to think about this mid-season finale. By the end of the show, Denise had undergone her surgery. The transplant into Claudia Joy had gone okay . . . but the in the last moments as they were finishing up, Claudia Joy flatlined. How many times can they put Claudia Joy in these positions? How many times are we supposed to be shocked by her health issues? At this point the shocking thing would be to kill the character off, but I seriously doubt they will do that. We’ve already lost Pamela, so I can’t see them taking out Claudia Joy.
The Audrey and Jackie feud hit the fan in this episode. Audrey returned and claimed she was instrumental in Michael being chosen over Kevin to get the third star. She said she played the Kosovo card, but Claudia Joy said that story about Kevin’s affair wasn’t true. Audrey seemed shocked, she really thought it was. However Audrey said it still worked, and she wanted something for her contribution, such as Michael throwing some contract work towards her husband. Michael told Claudia Joy that there is no way Audrey could have turned the tables on this decision. We saw that Kevin himself was told that Michael earned this, but in truth the Africa situation hurt his chances at this time. They couldn’t be seen rewarding him after that.
Later Claudia Joy sat down with Jackie, who told her exactly why Audrey hates her. It goes back years to when Audrey’s husband threw one of his famous parties in Italy. A young girl of 16 was invited, and she was assaulted sexually by several officers. Kevin brought it to the attention of the army and wouldn’t let it be dropped or swept under the rug. Audrey’s husband was given the chance to retire than face a nasty scandal. Audrey, who came out of no where during this talk, claimed it was a lie. She said the young girl was a friend of Jackie and Kevin’s, it was a plant by them to bring down her husband. Audrey said that Claudia Joy would have to choose sides. Claudia Joy wasn’t going to play that game with Audrey. Audrey said “I guess you made your choice!”
Oh boy! They definitely seemed to have made it look like Audrey is either oblivious to the real world, or just plain nuts. However with the show, you never know. The first half of the season it seemed Jackie and Kevin were monsters, and that doesn’t seem to be true. So is Audrey just a huge schemer? Does she have no real power like Michael said? I guess we’ll find out when the show returns in June.
The drama with David’s biological dad and Joan and Roland also hit the fan over several meetings and dinners where David’s dad was down right disrespectful towards the military, and making a joke of his time in prison and his arrests. Joan and Roland told him the visits were over. However he claimed they could not keep him from his son by the end of the episode. I am seeing a kidnapping attempt in the future.
More drama! Things hit a sour note between Gloria and Hector. Hector hated that Gloria worked at The Hump, and even got into a fight when she was flirted with by a drunk soldier. Gloria however would not quit, Roxie had been depending on her and giving her more responsibility. By the end of the show, Hector had walked out of their home, as he threatened to.
Ehhh! At first I liked these two, now I think they are giving them a little too much time. Gloria I like, Hector I really can’t stand.
Finally Roxy learned that because of Trevor’s promotion and her expanding business, Finn no longer qualified for the scholarship at the school. So they would have to fork over 5000 dollars for his tuition. This came just as they got the news that they are now expecting twins. Oh boy! This was the only bit of happiness in this episode, but it means even more expenses. Roxy thought one baby was going to mean watching every dollar spent over the next few months . . . now they have two!
