Secret Circle: Witch Hunters and Dark Magic
Posted by Dustin on 11.06.2011 at 6:23 pm
Next week is the Mid-Season-Finale of “Secret Circle.” WHAT! No new “Secret Circle” till 2012? How will I survive? This is one of my favorite new shows. Grrrr!
So last week was the Halloween episode, and this week the kids learned that Faye’s grandpa Henry is very dead.
During the Halloween episode, Jake and the witch hunters planned to finally kill off the circle. However at the last minute, Jake learned that Cassie had dark magic in her, and that meant his plan would fail. In fact one of the hunters was killed, the guy who initially seemed interested in Cassie when she first moved to town. He was a plant all along.
We learned Cassie’s father, John Blackwell, apparently has dark magic and this was passed to Cassie. This, and the fact that her mothers line goes back to the beginnings of witchcraft, makes her exceptionally powerful. So powerful that she can do magic without the need of the circle, but she doesn’t know how to control it.
Cassie’s grandma Jean went to check on Henry, and was clubbed over the back of the head by Charles. He drugged her and took Henry’s crystal from her. She was scrying over Henry with it to see what had happened to him I guess. Charles and Dawn used the crystal to erase her memory, but also control her. Charles it seems is onto Dawn, he is keeping the crystal for himself and has put Dawn in her place. Uh oh! That’s not going to go over well with Dawn. I can see these two turning on one another at some point.
Faye and the others learned about Henry’s death, but they don’t know who killed him yet. Jake meanwhile continues to stall the witch hunters from killing the circle, saying he has to learn more about Cassie to avoid another “accident.”
I can’t tell if Jake is falling for Cassie, and is stalling to try and save her, or not. Or is he more interested in her dark magic and has changed his original plans for her and the circle? They basically need Jake to complete the circle, but how can they trust him after all of this?
Grey’s Heart In a Box! Oh and Hello There Private Practice!
Posted by Dustin on 11.05.2011 at 4:16 pm
Another great episode this week for Grey’s with “Heart in a Box.” A donnor heart was put into a box which kept it pumping and alive, as opposed to freezing it for delivery. However the person who was initially to get it died, so the heart sat around for awhile until a new recipient was found. The former Chief, still basically running things, used it as a teaching to too get through to the fifth years as to help them figure out what they really wanted out of their 5th year experience.
Christina used it as a “coolness” factor to decide what surgieres to put on her list. Meanwhile her new BFF mentor Teddy had her own problems. Henry decided he wanted to go to medical school, but Teddy didn’t like that. She didn’t want to be married to a med student for the next ten years . . . Ouch! It seems Teddy does like to have control over all, including her hubby? Or maybe she was just worried about the stress on his health really . . . Later though she came home to find Henry puking up blood. Oh no! I’ve always had this feeling that this wouldn’t last, that Henry would eventually kick the bucket. This is “Greys” after all, where happy ever after hardly ever happens.
Jackson used heart in a box to help him decide who and what he wanted. He had been avoiding Mark, mainly because of what he felt was going on with Lexie. In the end he realized he was sacrificing his career for a relationship that he wasn’t even confident in, so he dumped Lexie and chose Mark. I was thrilled, because I was not a fan of those two. Mark and Lexie belong together!
Lexie meanwhile began to realize this as well, as she and Derek helped an author through a brain tumor. The author was writing a series of romance novels that sounded suspiciously like “The Time Traveler’s Wife.” In this case though it was a female who travelled through time, and was caught between two men. Lexie was typing out the authors words for her, and was not happy that the traveler was going to end up with “the bad boy” and not “the nice guy.” It was basically a metaphor for her own relationship issues. She wanted the hero to end up with the good guy, but the author said “He’s not her soul mate, she doesn’t love him.” Lexie basically said “But she should . . . . ”
Finally Mama O’Malley returned as she needed an operation. Meredith and Bailey worked together on her case, and continued to work to solve their own issues with one another. Callie was petrified to tell her former mother-in-law that she now liked girls, had a wife and a kid. After all her own mother practically disowned her, and she knew the O’Malleys were practicing Catholics. In the end she did, and Mama O’Malley asked to see the photos of the baby, thrilled that her former daughter-in-law was happy and had a kid.
Oh did you think I had forgotten about that other show “Private Practice?” Well I haven’t. It’s just that “Project Runway” was on at the same time, and I found myself watching it over “Practice.” I kept up though, mostly watching the second half of “Practice” or just flicking between the two. What to say? The show has aggravated me, but I’ve enjoyed other parts. Here are some of my thoughts on the major storylines going on . . . .
Hate hate hate Pete! I hate that he’s taking all of his frustrations, moods, depression and what not out on Violet. It would serve him right if she did leave him after all of this. For all her faults, she was never so verbally abusive as he has been. I want to punch Pete in the face. Actually I want to see Sheldon do it!
Another person on my nerves? Sam! I’ve never been a fan of AddiSam, and he continues to show me why. The fact that he can’t decide if he wants to stick with her, if he can support her just annoys me. I loved that Jake called him out on it in this last episode where Addison was having her eggs harvested and inseminated.
I actually love Cooper being a dad, and watching him with his kid is so much fun. I just fear it will in the end tear him and Charlotte apart. I can see Cooper falling for the kids mom. Or I could equally see the kids mom suddenly dying, and Charlotte becoming an instant mom and it being a big problem for her.
The Amelia spiraling out of control storyline is probably the best thing the show has going for it right now. This is good drama!
Revenge: Meet The Two Emilys!
Posted by Dustin on 11.03.2011 at 7:34 pm
Another one bit the dust last night on “Revenge,” and yet another new person moved into town. The episode was set during the Grayson’s wedding anniversary party and dinner, which like their marriage, didn’t end well. In fact by the end of the episode Victoria had thrown her cheating husband out.
Emily asked Nolan to look into Tyler, find out what he could about him . . . she needed dirt to use on this pest. We found out a lot. Tyler does have an agenda, but I don’t think we know all of it. His family was wealthy, once upon a time, but lost all their money awhile back. He has been trying to work his way back up the social and financial ladder. He’s basically been a hustler. A gay one? He just shrugged, it seems he’s a hustler for whoever will pay him. He made a deal with Nolan to keep this under wraps, and the deal involved sex. Yup it seems Nolan is gay. I didn’t see that one coming. (Maybe it was revealed before? I have missed bits and pieces of some shows.) Nolan of course recorded all, in case the evidence comes in handy. I have a feeling though that Tyler’s family lost all their money because they were somehow connected to the plane crash and Grayson Global, and not in a good way. I think like Emily/Amanda, he is out for revenge.
Frank was determined to prove Emily was not who she said she was. He learned she did time in some facility for girls and headed there. This is were Amanda met Emily. Of course he found out who the real Emily was, and tracked her down to a strip club. The only problem? She was claiming she was Amanda Clarke! Worried she had been found out, the real Emily clubbed and left Frank for dead. . . right as he called Victoria to tell her that Emily was not who she claimed to be . . . But that’s as far as he got.
Emily/Amanda seems to be torn between Daniel and Jack. However she’s only going for Daniel, as he’s part of her plan, Jack is not. Daniel too is falling for her. At the very end the real Emily showed up on Amanda’s doorstep to warn her about Frank . . . and that she took care of him. Things are about to get a whole lot more complicated for Amanda now. It also looks like Lidia is coming too, after being in a coma from her fall.
American Horror Story: Questions About Tate Answered!
Posted by Dustin on 11.03.2011 at 7:24 pm
So last night was the second part of the Halloween episode of “American Horror Story.” This episode seemed to focus mainly on Hayden haunting Ben and Vivian, and Tate’s past being revealed.
Being it was Halloween, the ghosts of the dead were still free to roam. As she died on their property, Hayden showed up to haunt Ben and Vivian. She was dead set on making sure Vivian knew the truth about Ben and his lies. A whole lot went down, and she really tortured Vivian. At one point it seemed like she nuked their dog in the microwave! At the end she claimed to the security guy that it was just tomatoes . . . was it? We did see the doggie alive, but this is Murder House!
Ben confessed almost all to Vivian, while Hayden was holding her hostage. He left out the part about killing her and burying her . . . but he doesn’t know she’s dead. He thinks she’s in on a blackmail scam with burned guy Larry (who he beat the crap out of earlier). In the end, Vivian sounded the panic alarm, and Hayden was taken away by the security people. Of course she disappeared from the car as the sun came up . . . .
Meanwhile Tate was free to leave the house with Violet, but their date was crashed by a lot of high school kids in zombie like make-up. Well we knew that’s not what they were. They wanted answers from Tate, who didn’t know who they were. Violet also didn’t know who they were, which shocked them. How could she not? She said she just moved in. They gave Violet a clue as to who they were and who Tate was, telling her too check out a yearbook, they are all famous. He took Violet home, but later was chased off by the ghosts who showed up at the house. We learned that Tate killed them all in school, he gunned them down. It seems that the fantasies he told Ben about in the first episode weren’t fantasies at all.
Addie apparently is very much dead, or at least she didn’t return as a ghost. Constance told Violet what happened. She also confessed to Violet that Tate was her son, but he must not know about Addie. It would set him off, as he is a fragile boy . . .
Vivian had it with Ben. The last few moments showed Ben packing up to leave the house. Meanwhile we also saw all the ghosts (that we’ve met so far) returning to the house, condemned there for another year.
MORE QUESTIONS!
So we don’t know if Addie will be a ghost or not . . .
We hope the dog is not a ghost and is alive! I guess he has to be, if they saw him dead in the microwave they’d wonder . . .
Why doesn’t Tate remember what he did? How did he die? Previews seem to hint at that one, a police raid on the house.
Who is the kinky rubber suit man? That one we still don’t have an answer for.
Neither do we know who the thing in the basement is. It’s been a while since we saw it.
Will Hayden be back? If so that house is really gunna suck to live in.
We still don’t know what’s with Vivian’s baby . . . previews show that will come up though.
The show was just picked up for a 2nd season. Will the Harmons still be the main family in the house, or will they “move on” so to speak and become just more ghosts?
Ringer: Half The Truth Is Out!
Posted by Dustin on 11.03.2011 at 6:43 pm
So Siobhan/Bridget found herself in big trouble as the police now suspect Bridget may be involved in Gemma’s disappearance, as she left those fingerprints at the crime scene on purpose. She had no choice but to come clean, well partially, to her husband and her lover. She told them pretty much everything, except that she was actually Bridget.
Henry seemed to remain the main target, so Bridget/Siobhan went to her new sponsor Charlie for help. She trusted him a little too much, as in the end we learn he is the real Siobhan’s henchman keeping tabs on her! Bridget told him where the car was so he could try and help her and Henry out. What he really wanted to do was wipe evidence of himself off of it . . . We saw him attack Gemma outside her house and next to her car, which got his blood on it when she struck back. Then he stalked her inside her house. Did we see her kill her? No. But it was implied. I guess until we have a body, we can’t rule out that she may still be alive.
Bridget/Siobhan learned that her sponsor had gone missing. We then saw flashbacks of them getting way too close, closer than they should have given their relationship in AA. This may be pretty important! The show ended with everyone at Gemma’s gallery event, even though she wasn’t there. Bridget/Siobhan had some kind of fainting spell or attack. She was taken to the hospital where they are preparing to do an ultra sound . . . uh oh! Why do I have a feeling she is pregnant? If so, she’s gunna have a hard time explaining this one to her “husband” when it pops out.
Oh there was some other stuff with Juliette getting into more trouble, but it was pretty boring stuff. Daddy took her trust fund away until she can show responsibility.
