It’s Halloween week, and many shows have some spooky episodes planned!
On “Castle” a ghost hunter disappears in a haunted mansion!
It’s Halloween now, but in the Hamptons on “Revenge” it’s the 4th of July!
Owen signs the hospital up as a baseball team on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Addison starts fertility treatments on “Private Practice.”
On “Housewives,” Bree and Gabby have to dig up and move Gabby’s step-father on Halloween!
Kristin Bauer (Pam, True Blood) guest stars as Maleficent on “Once Upon A Time.”
So the latest episode of “Housewives” was partly predictable, and somewhat confusing, but still entertaining.
Mike learned that Susan was arrested and bailed out by Carlos, and began to suspect them of having an affair. When Carlos and Susan even found themselves relying too much on one another, it was time to tell Mike the truth. He didn’t seem to happy about it either, storming off after they told him. I’m sure he won’t stay angry for long. Hey where is their cute little kid? Did they lose MJ?
Gabby pressured Bree to dump Chuck, but Bree told her that Chuck may be who wrote the blackmail note. Bree found Chuck had taken a photo of her hand, and they worried maybe they had finger print evidence. It was very obvious that Chuck was planning to propose, which Bree and Gabby eventually figured out. However Bree let him down, and dumped him . . . which turned Chuck into a raving psycho. He accused her of having an affair, he said he saw her get upset reading a note the other day. He screamed he protects those he loves, she made a huge mistake, and not to come crawling to him when she got into trouble. It definitely sounds like Chuck knows more than he’s letting on! He also came across as a crazed nut job. How does Bree manage to pick these guys? He was right though, she would end up regretting it at some point.
Bob and Lee’s daughter got a visit from the Boobie Fairy, and Bob was out of the country on business. Lee asked Renee to help her get a bra, because boobies frightened Lee. Lee however got jealous, worrying that their daughter was getting too close to Renee, and that the lack of having a mom around was finally starting to become an issue. I was confused, when did their kid get so big? I thought they were getting a baby? I can’t remember how it all ended last year with the adoption honestly.
Lynette provided the comedy relief in this episode, as her sister came to town and become this new age spiritualist and had her boyfriend Rashi in tow. I didn’t care for this storyline at all, as it was just filler.
So I realize I’ve been bad with “Glee” thoughts. Mondays and Tuesday’s are hectic TV days, and Wednesday I get home late. The second episode of “Glee” this season I really didn’t like. I’m not a “West Side Story” fan, and there were a lot of numbers from it in that episode. I did like that Quinn return to the fold, as did Shelby. It was great that Shelby wanted Puck and Quinn to be a part of Baby Beth’s life. However Quinn wants to get custody back. Good luck! I did not like the previews from the latest episode have her being shady about it, trying to hurt her baby to make Shelby look bad? WOW! Puck meanwhile, the previews hinted that he and Shelby might be getting a little too close for comfort. Oh no!
The past episode “Asian F” I loved. It was nice seeing Mike Chang in more of a leading role for once, dealing with his parents disapproval of his wanting to dance rather than study law or medicine. Hearing him really sing by himself was a nice surprise too. I also LOVED the return of Vampire Tina.
Both Britney and Rachel have decided to run against Kurt for president. I feel bad for Kurt, but loved Britney’s pep rally.
Rachel and Mercedes went all out for the role of Maria. Mercedes started to out diva Rachel, not taking dancing practice seriously. The entire Glee Club went into a “Dream Girls” number where they told Mercedes/Effie they’re tired of her diva ways . . . the number right before “And I Am Telling You.” It was great . . . but not as great as Shue kicking her out of the club. At this rate they are not going to have enough members ready in time for sectionals!
Mercedes decided to join Shelby’s club, making her the lone member. Previews seemed to show her getting Santana on board. Two members? What can they do with that? They can’t compete, show choir rules say you need at least 12 members. Unless we are supposed to just forget that tid bit from season one?
Will met Emma’s parents, who she was keeping from him. They are ginger supremacists as Emma put it, and dinner with them was a disaster as they criticized Emma most of the time. Will finally stood up to them for her, making him her hero yet again. Awwww. They seemed to be hinting at marriage in their future. I smell the return of Teri soon if that happens!
Both episodes of both shows last night featured a lot of angry men (and some angry women). I was entertained, but neither one bowled me over honestly. Ooooo are we gunna see a brawl over Bailey?
On “Grey’s” the episode focused on the men. The women were only shown quickly, or were out of the picture entirely. Derek’s house and making the deck became the gathering point for the men in the episode. Each night more showed up to bang hammers and rev power saws and take out their frustrations.
Avery was frustrated with the lack of respect he was getting, especially from Mark. When Mark learned that Derek was inviting Avery to work on his cases as lead surgeon, that was enough for him to feel Derek was stealing Avery. He praised Avery’s talent, how he had more than he did at that level, how he never ever takes time to teach students but did for Avery . . . Basically Avery stuck with Mark. Will things change though? Hopefully they will and Mark won’t keep walking all over him. I’m still team Mark and Lexie though 🙂 Which of course would make their working relationship even more acquired.
Owen felt the pressure of being the new Chief, while Mark felt slighted that he was passed over. Mark brought some good humor in the episode. The two moms were off spending time together, and Mark was left with the baby. He was sure something was wrong cause the baby didn’t cry . . ever. In one great scene Alex told him the baby likes him, want to see the baby cry? Then Alex flicked her in the foot and made her cry! It was so mean, but oddly a really funny scene.
Ben was back and upset that when he was dating Bailey, she refused to be in a relationship. Now that he left, she was ready for one.
Again the show was just okay. It was a different take on things for sure, but I’ll be happy to have the ladies back next week.
On “Private Practice,” Violet was working around the office doing paperwork and other administrative things, as well as helping evaluate new candidates to replace Naomi. Jake Reilly, Addison’s Figi guy was one of them. Everyone loved him, but Addison. Of course because she was worried it would spoil things with Sam. In the end he claimed he wanted to work there, and he would not say anything . . . it wouldn’t be an issue. Yeah right! Addison is a train wreck, it’s gunna go bad.
Addison was moving forward with the pregnancy plan, and asked Sam to wear some love gloves, since he didn’t want the kid to be his. He whined and complained “you know I hate those things.” Really? Really? A doctor saying this? A doctor whose teen daughter got knocked up? I already hate Addisam enough as is, thanks for making me loath them even more! Though I can’t be on team Jake+Addison either, the love triangles with her never end.
Pete also was back at work, earlier than everyone expected. Sheldon was worried, and warned people that Pete was just faced with mortality, he’s feeling emasculated by that and Violet’s hovering, he’s going to blow. Of course he did, he blew up at Violet in front of everyone. He told her she shouldn’t be there, she had no job so she should be at home, being a mother to their child. Later she sat him down and told him she would be his wife, his nursemaid if need be, but not his punching bag. She told him that he was down right mean, and he needs to find a therapist. Loved Violet standing up for herself. I just hope she gets back to work soon.
Over at the hospital, Cooper stole another couples core blood from a bank to save a dying girl who it matched, which he learned by breaking into Charlotte’s computer. Yeah, not a good move! He saved the girl, but is now on Charlotte’s bad side. If he messes up one more time . . . He is going to be in deep . . . How exactly does Cooper manage to get away with all the crap he pulls? If anyone should have had their license revoked in this show it should be him!
Meanwhile Amelia was thirty days sober, but felt Charlotte didn’t care. She didn’t care she had been sober for years, she was there for Charlotte after the rape and she had a slip up. Eventually Charlotte did let Amelia back on surgical rotation, but Amelia is not about to forgive and forget! Amelia is quickly becoming one of my favorites of the whole show.
So I just watched the premier of “American Horror Story” on FX. Along with ABC/NBC’s gothic fairytale shows (still to premier) this was what I’d really been looking forward to. I expected it to either blow, or blow me out of the water.
O M G . . . Did this show ever blow me out of the water! It was sick, sexy, twisted, titillating, delicious and depraved all in one. WOW! They said words and showed things I didn’t think you could do on basic cable!
It’s difficult to explain or summarize the show without giving too much away, if you haven’t seen it, but I’ll try. The show opens with three kids outside a dilapidated house. Two twins and a girl with downs syndrom. The twin boys plan on breaking in and destroying stuff, the girl tells them “You are going to die in there!” Sure enough . . . they do! Flash forward to present day (this took awhile to figure out, until we saw the girl about 10 years older . . . .) The house has been fixed up by previous owners, who met an untimely end, and now sold to a new family. A doctor/psychiatrist, his artist wife and their problem child teen daughter. We quickly learn the family had moved after mom had a miscarriage and dad had an affair. Enter the host of bizarro weird characters. The creepy maid who seems old to everyone, but young and sexy to the dad/father. The bible thumping southern clepto neighbor, whose daughter is the downs syndrome girl from the opener. The twisted teen psycho patient, who takes a liking to daddy’s little girl. The weird burned stalking the house guy, who used to live there and killed his entire family one night.
The show was one big “WTF” moment until the final moments . . . . SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT!
So being a horror buff, I figured out early on that the housekeeper was a ghost. Her age shifting gave that away. I was not prepared for Jessica Lange’s character (and her daughter?) to be ghosts as well! But if you notice, her attire is stuck in the 60s. Both of them actually. It would appear, from previews, almost everyone else (the burned guy, the patient) were also ghosts. Then there are the twins and the crazy lady in the basement.
OMG! Loved it! I’m going to re-watch it in a day or so just to see what I can pick up after the final “Sixth Sense” reveal.
Watch the first five minutes if you need a teaser/reason to watch!
Desperate Housewives: I Know What You Did Last Summer!
Posted by Dustin on 10.05.2011 at 10:38 pm
It’s been a few days since “Desperate Housewives,” so I’m going of memories with this post.
Bree got “the note” in her mailbox, visited Paul about its odd coincidence to Mary Alice and spent the episode pondering who sent it. Half way through, I suspected Chuck, and the final moments seemed to seal the deal. Paul called her saying he had talked about the note to the detectives on the case, one of who appears to be Chuck. Too easy? Probably! But then again, this show likes to take the obvious and easy way out . . .they just try and confuse you along the ride and make you say “That’s too easy, let’s think of something more complicated it will turn out to be!” So if it seems like Chuck, and smells like Chuck . . . it will probably be Chuck!
Susan was unfortunately back to being Susan and doing stupid and cringeworthy things. At least this time they made sense. Her guilt was making her want to be caught, to be punished. It also drew her closer to Carlos, who understands her. Cue Mike’s suspicions!
After loathing Lynette in the last episode, the show did a 180 and had me hating Tom. It’s rare that I ever side with Lynette against Tom, but the man was a total ass in this episode. Lynette tried to “test” him as he put it and make him play the role of a parent, the bad guy for once, and to stand up and tell their kids no for once. He couldn’t, and their son . . . the one who still lives at home (Parker? Preston? Porter? I never keep their names straight) went to a party and got puking drunk. At the very end they realized they had to get along for their kids’ sake, but before that Tom was a total ass. I’m kinda leaning towards “this marriage shouldn’t even try to be saved” at this point . . . shocking I know! They’ve always been “the happy couple” of the show, but clearly they have just as many problems and in many ways are way more dysfunctional than the others.
Gabby provides some of the comic relief in this episode, hiring a bedroom pole dancer to help spice up her marriage. I loved her line in the bedroom when she tried to distract Carlos after he learned she told the pole dancer about his . . . pole problems. She said “OMG Make out with me, quick!” Renee meanwhile opened up to her neighbor Ben about her vulnerable past, after first trying to con her way into his bed. I have a feeling old Ben is too good to be true, which started to come out when he hired Mike for a real estate project, but on the side, as he couldn’t be seen hiring someone with Mike’s record. Shady!
I’m missing Lee and Bob! Fortunately the official spoilers have them back next week I believe 🙂

A Hodge Podge: Pan Am, Dirty Soap, Ringer, Fringe, Secret Circle, 90210 Thoughts . . .
Posted by Dustin on 10.03.2011 at 7:17 pm
This is a quick post with some quick thoughts on a bunch of other shows I’ve watched over the week, but didn’t get around to doing a full post on, but wanted to squeeze some quick thoughts out on . . .
After episode two of “Pan Am” I’m thinking people at ABC might not only be having doubts about canning “Brothers and Sisters,” but here is hoping they may be giving having this be “Desperate Housewives” final season. The ratings for the second episode went downnnnn. For me, the best story they had going was the mystery surrounding Bridgett, and they resolved it in the second episode! I’ll keep watching, but other things might start taking priority when the networks no doubt beging shifting things.
Have you tuned into “Dirty Soap” on E! O M G! This show is just more drama than you’ll see on any soap. The Kirsten Storms vs Farath Fath (Belle vs Mimi) drama alone is worth tuning in for! But then you also have Farah and Nadjia (Mimi and Chloe) facing off with their mother or mother-in-law-to-bes over the men in their lives. OMG it’s just such a sick and twisted show!
“Ringer” I’m still loving, it’s my most new favorite show so far . . . that may change this month with the onslaught of fairy tale shows and “American Horror Story.” I do wonder how long they can take the premise. I mean eventually the truth that Siobhan is alive and Bridget has been impersonating her will be exposed.
“Fringe” . . . Oh I still love you, but you make me scratch my head. With Peter gone, I guess we are just supposed to figure the Broyles on the other side never died? Cause he was back with no explanation this week! I do feel my initial thoughts were right, half of the season will be with Peter missing. Grrr!
I am really starting to get into “Secret Circle.” The latest episode with a guy from their parents past coming to end the new circle, and the titillating fact that Cassie’s mom might not have been all that good . . . putting some friend into a cationic state was just great. Why did she do it? What do the evil parents want? I’m really starting to like the show!
“90210” . . . what can I say about you? Naomi is the only thing worth watching for anymore. Eventually Silver and Adrianna are going to have a huge WTF moment over the fact they fought over Navid . . . one of the biggest tools on the show. I don’t care about Dixon’s recording job, I don’t care about Liam’s bar, I only marginally care about Annie and her money woes. This show is probably not going to be around for another season.
ABC Mid-October Spoilers: “Once Upon A Time” Premiers!
Posted by Dustin on 10.03.2011 at 6:00 pm
A bunch of Mid-October ABC spoilers. Of note, the premier of “Once Upon A Time” on ABC . . . Yay! A week later NBC rolls out it’s own modern fairy tale drama “Grimm.” October is shaping up to be a good month, with “American Horror Story” also debuting in 2 days and the return of AMC’s “Walking Dead.” Okay, now onto the spoiler bits before the real deals . . . .
Jessica Tuck sure is busy fresh off her “True Blood” kill . . . first she was on “Body of Proof” now she’s on “Castle!”
Apparently Victoria is starting to feel guilty about what she did to Amanda/Emily’s father on “Revenge.”
Lee Majors guests on “Grey’s Anatomy” . . . can they rebuild him? Oh and Meredith is up the creek . . . again!
Cooper gets a shocking blast from the past, while it looks like Violet’s back to work on “Private Practice.”
Carlos hits rock bottom on “Desperate Housewives” which probably spells trouble for the girls.
“Once Upon A Time” premiers on October 23rd, right before the Housewives!
“Parenthood” I actually haven’t been too in love with lately. “Body of Proof” comes on at the same time, and I’ve found myself watching it, and checking in on “Parenthood” later. I hope things pick up soon!
I think may main issue so far has been the extreme focus on Haddie and Alex. For me, Haddie is the most unlikeable character on the show. She drives me bonkers. So I really don’t want to see her whine and cry about the trouble she got her boyfriend into. Fortunately Adam got the other parents to drop the charges against him. Hopefully Alex will wise up, dump Haddie and move on.
As much as Julia sometimes make me cringe, I do love her and Joel and would like more of a focus on them and their baby issues. Not silly diversions like asking the coffee girl if she can have her baby.
ant more Joel and Julia! I love them.
I can’t decide what will happen with Crosby and Adam’s business, or how this storyline will go. Given this show, I’m sure Crosby will somehow screw something up. Though it could be a way for him to continue to show Jasmine he’s growing up and taking responsibility?
The story with Christina and Adam mainstreaming Max was touching. I liked watching him trying to fit in, and Christina trying to give up some control. We also have Christina worried about their new child, whether she will have any issues. They did find out it was a girl in the latest episode.
The storyline with Drew having a crush on a girl, and Zeke helping him out, was cute too. Nothing really more to say on that one I guess. Not sure if it was a filler storyline, or they actually plan to take it somewhere.
Where did the whole Sarah and Mark story go to? Perhaps they didn’t have room for it and it will return? It’s been said that John Corbit is expected to return later this season as Sarah’s ex. Loved him on the show, so I’m definitely looking forward to that!
