Parenthood Returns: Haddie’s Hair Distracted Me!

“Parenthood” returned this week, and apparently to its best ratings ever. That’s good news for the fans. Was it the best episode though? I don’t think so. I had some issues.

First, damn Jabar got big! Crosby had to grow up and be a dad, not a best friend, and punish Jabar. I don’t know, I think the Jabar/Crosby/Jasmine story isn’t really fun without Renee. I’m not saying she needs to move in or anything, but I like Renee around.

Haddie’s storyline annoyed me, mostly because I couldn’t get over whatever she did to her hair. I just couldn’t get past it to get interested in her storyline, which involved her parents telling her she couldn’t see Alex (I think that’s his name) anymore, basically because he was too grown up for her. Well he does have his own apartment. She however lied to him and said everything was cool with her parents.

The fun storyline was Julia bonding with Sarah, as well as Julia having to deal with her daughter facing death for the first time. Meanwhile Sarah had to have a talk with her kids about drugs and alcohol, after Seth had a party with friends that involved beer. She had to come clean about their dad who was not always on tour, but on drunken benders and MIA for days at a time.

Next week has Adam meeting his new boss, the kid genius who bought the company but knows nothing about it really, or shoes. That looks to be a much better episode.

  1. Yay someone else was as bothered by her hair as me. And as an older brother to two sisters I totally understand the he’s to old for you reaction. Most parents react badly to their child being in the bedroom of a bf/gf, let alone an apartment with no supervision.

  2. The main thing that they are forgetting to deal with on the TV show Parenthood is that Alex is 19 and Haddie is 16. That legally makes it a statutory rape situation. In most states, he would get put in prison for sexual contact with a minor, which is basically saying that he is a pedophile as far as most of society is concerned. I can’t believe that they haven’t brought it up yet on the show. If he actually dated her and had sex with her, she would be signing his sex offender papers for the rest of his life. What is the deal? Why haven’t they mentioned anything about that yet. I personally know of 2 people who have gotten this statutory rape charge (sexual conduct with a minor). One of my friend (male) was 19 and his girlfriend was 17. Also, a girl was dating the younger brother of a friend of mine (she was 16 and he was 18). He also is now a sex offender because of having sexual relations with a minor. I personally think the law is crap, but this show needs to be responsible and not be putting ideas in young people’s heads that could get them put into prison and give them a life sentence as a “sex offender” where they would have to register for the rest of their life and never be able to get a good job or be around children again. I love the TV show Parenthood. I think they need to be more responsible about this issue though.
