Private Practice: Did You Hear What Happened To Charlotte King?

Private Practice: Did You Hear What Happened To Charlotte King?

So the big “Private Practice” episode aired last night. Even though we knew what was going to happen from the spoilers, the whole episode was just shocking from beginning to end.

The entire episode centered around the aftermath of Charlotte’s attack at the hospital. There Addison and Pete helped mend her, while she told the cops she was simply robbed, that was all. Addison knew better, and Charlotte admitted to only her that she was raped. However she wanted no one to know. Addison tried to tell her that as a doctor, she knew what her responsibilities were (to report the crime), and as a woman she herself had to report the rape to stop it from happening to someone else. Charlotte however wouldn’t have it. She wanted nobody to look at her the way Addison was, especially not Cooper.

Meanwhile Sheldon was brought into the police station where a man was picked up, covered in blood, but nobody knew what he had done. As Sheldon talked to him, it became clear he was disturbed and had raped someone. But without someone coming forward, with his DNA not in the system from previous attacks, they couldn’t hold him more than 72 hours. It was clear he was Charlotte’s rapist.

That NO ONE asked Charlotte point blank if she was raped, or even seemed to suspect it, irked me. I mean it was like the cops, the nurses, the forensic team all knew, but wouldn’t ask THE question. Is that not their job? They made it a point to have Cooper and Violet see her office. Clearly more than a robbery for her purse took place in there. The previews for next week had Sheldon and Violet discussing whether they thought Charlotte was raped and was not talking about it.

As much as everything irked me, the episode was amazing. They are clearly building up to the big moment and revelation. I have this horrible feeling Sheldon might take on the rapist as a patient, and Charlotte will come face to face with him right in the office.

  1. Ok the lady playing Charlotte did an amazing job, this episode had me almost crying for her (and that’s a feat in and or itself), she really portrayed the pain while staying true to her character, amazing!

  4. i dont think i knew charlotte had a substance problem in the past. she is always making drinks. i think her telling coop to not let her fall was kind of ironic as she comforted him most of the show.

  6. They way they both commented about it it seemed to imply that they were both using drinking as a crutch so they didn’t fall back into pain killer/prescription drug addition both being aware that it may lead them closer to their additions.
