True Blood Season Finale Thoughts
Wow, what a finale last night! I’m not yet sure how I feel about it all. I don’t think it’s all sunk in.
As with past season finales, we were left with a cliff hanger. Actually several this time around.
I did not like Bill leading Queen Sophie Anne into a trap at the end, and the two going into a “Matrix-like” final fight. I don’t want either to die, I like both characters! We know they can’t kill Bill, but Sophie Anne ???
I was REALLY not a fan of Bill double-crossing Eric and burying him in the cement with Russell, and then trying to off Pam. Nobody hurts Pammy! They really made Bill look evil by the end of this finale, especially when a freed Eric exposed all his lies to Sookie . . . including that he uses/set the Ratrains up in the first show to get close to Sookie.
How did Eric escape the cement tomb? If he got out . . . what about Russell?
I loved Tara’s new look, but hated that she felt the need to try and run away at the end of the show. Something tells me she’s going to run into more trouble.
Jason’s story annoyed me. Crystal gets kidnapped by her half-brother/supposed-husband and Jason gets left to take care of the inbred-hillbilly bunch? I am guessing this is going to force Jason to grow up some, but I didn’t like it.
Sam finally told Tara he was a shapeshifter, which she didn’t like too much. He then learned Tommy made off with all his money and chased him down. He had a gun pointed him at the end of the show. Tommy didn’t think he’d fire, but he did. Do we think Sam shot him? My guess is no, he wouldn’t make the same mistake twice that has clearly been haunting him. I however would not miss Tommy!
Jesus confessed to Lafayette that he was a witch too, and that the V had clearly opened something up in Lafayette, who know seems to have a sixth sense and can sense spirits and other stuff around people. That might be interesting, but is also a little too close to Sookie’s powers in a way.
Sookie meanwhile threw Bill and Eric out of her life at the end of the show. I thought she was going to run off to Alcide, but she ran to her fairy godmother Claudine and they vanished to somewhere . . . fairyland? That was a cliff hanger I really liked I have to say, cause at least you know it can’t end badly!
I think Eric called Pam mentally or she just sensed that he needed help because of her comment at the club about never getting all of the cement out of her hair.

Ahhhh I did catch that, I just thought she was maybe thrown in too?

All that happy crying from Terry and how his life was wonderful and he hopes it just keeps getting better? Uh oh – I was sure something bad was going to happen to him in the show. Maybe next season…
I agree – I did not like the Jason/hillbilly story line.
Lafayette has done V before without the weird side effects. I’m guessing Jesus helped out there. If Lafayette’s seeing people’s secrets (Sam’s murder of those two people, and Arlene’s baby with Rene), I’m guessing what he saw about Jesus (the monster head) doesn’t bode well. Unfortunately, he doesn’t yet know that he’s seeing secrets.
I was hoping Holly would be in this episode. I’m glad Alcide was. I guess there have been a lot of characters introduced this season.
I’m curious about Sookie’s fairy world!
I don’t know what to think about Bill. Was he trying to help out Sookie (and make amends for luring her under false pretenses) and really destroy everyone who knows her secret, out of love? Or maybe he just was doing so to keep her all to himself? I think it’s out of love, but I’d rather see Sookie with Alcide anyway (wasn’t he wearing his heart on his sleeve in that episode?!). I mean, who wants to cuddle with someone cold like slate, when you can be next to a heat pack? But maybe I think that because I live in a cold climate, as opposed to Louisiana.
Hoyt’s mom means business!
Was the affair between Tara’s mom and the reverend just to have Tara think that her life really just sucks, adding to the reasons to just leave?
Finally, why not kill off Russell? Or at least hand him over to the Vampire League people (Nan et al.)? You know he going to be freed at some point. Burying him in concrete seemed really dumb. Having Godric spout that “peace in afterlife” bit was weak writing for the sake of the plot (same goes for the writing re: Crystal’s fiance – he totally would have shot Jason).
All in all, I really enjoyed the first 3/4 of this season, but was disappointed with the last three episodes. Can’t wait for next season though.
Dustin, do you think you’ll watch Boardwalk Empire? I love Steve Buscemi’s acting,

I don’t know why the affair was there, maybe yeah so she’d wanna move on?
I think they wanted to torture Russell, but yeah I would have killed him. I guess cause Godric told him not to, blah blah blah. I think it was all to keep him around should they want him at some point 🙂
I probably won’t watch that. It looks like Sopranos 100 years ago lol

The fairyland ending actually might not end well. If you’ve read the books you know all faries aren’t good. They may skip ahead and incoorporate book 9 into the nex season and deal with the faries.

I was a little disappointed with this episode. Why couldn’t they just kill Russel? I hate what they are doing with Jason and Hotshot, the books handle this much better. That all said I can’t wait for next season!

Oh yeah – I wonder what’s up with creepy doll in Hoyt and Jessica’s new home?

I knew there was a story I was forgetting! I remembered they moved into a house, but I kept thinking to myself it had to have ended some way I missed or forgot, they couldn’t have had a happy ending.
The doll, your right! I forgot about it 🙂 I was gunna rewatch to figure out what I missed there.
Maybe the house is haunted?

Didn’t summer collect dolls? Didn’t her and Hoyt go shopping for them in one of the eps? I think her/Hoyt’s mom might be waiting to kill Jessica!

Was disappointed with the finale- mostly ’cause we have to wait a whole year to see what happens. Haven’t read the books, but I’m a big Bill-Sookie fan, so not happy with the way things are going with them. Am afraid Mama and Hoyt’s annoying ex will hatch a plot to get rid of Jessica and accidentally kill Hoyt instead.
