So last night was the season finale of “Glee.” Now while I didn’t expect them to win regionals, I sure as hell didn’t expect them to be last place! I was so angry at how biased the judges were. “Oral Intensity” clearly learned who the judges were and kissed ass, and Sue went in to destroy “New Directions.” However in the end she ultimately became the hero. When the panel of celebrity judges dissed her as a wanna-be celebrity, and then dissed the kids as not up to par just like her, she changed her tune and voted for “New Directions.” Even though they didn’t win, Sue also got Principal Figgens to change his mind and give Will and the club one more year.
I do love that Quinn’s baby Beth went to Shelby, the coach of “Vocal Adrenaline,” who has retired to finally have the life she missed out on by giving up Rachel. Why do I have a feeling the old choir director Sandy is going to be the new coach of “Vocal Adrenaline?”
Will finally professed his love to Emma, who unfortunately had begun seeing another man, her dentist. Will however said he wasn’t giving up on her, he knew she loved him too. Word broke yesterday that John Stamos has apparently been cast as Emma’s new love interest. Why do I get the feeling we’ll be hearing a lot of Elvis and Beach Boys from him?
So last night was the season finale of “United States of Tara.” I like it, but thanks to the previews I guessed where they were going. Tara and Charmaine learned that dear old dad was married before and had a son, a son who wasn’t all there and molested Tara. Their mom sent them to Mimi’s while she got the son out of the house. When asked where the son is now . . . nobody knows.
So we know the whole reason Tara is the way she is . . . so what now? My guess is Tara will go in search of her half-brother next year. Again I won’t be surprised if he turns out to be just like Buck.
Kate meanwhile dumped her creepy older guy after learning he was a Republican/Ron Paul supporter who didn’t approve of Marshall’s lifestyle. Guess we won’t see him next season. Charmaine also got dumped at the altar by Nick, and ended up going out with Neil who returned at the end. I was actually pissed Charmaine didn’t dump him after he showed signs of abuse on their wedding day by grabbing her too hard and talking to her the way he did.
Last night NBC’s “Persons Unknown” debuted, calling itself a summer miniseries event. I tuned in not really knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised.
The premise is that 9 strangers were drugged and kidnaped, only to wake up together in a hotel that is part of a small little deserted town. Should they try and leave the borded of the town, they are hit with a tranquilizer via implants that have been put into their legs under their skin. The town is also rigged with cameras, as someone is watching them.
Service people to run the hotel and restaurant arrived, but they didn’t have any answers for the people about what was going on. It seems they are victims as well. The cooks were all Chinese and barely spoke English, while the guy at the hotel cryptically said something that hinted that this has been done before and he was a part of whatever it was the last time. At dinner everyone got fortune cookies and one of the characters who clearly is going to be the star of the show fortune read “Kill your neighbor and you will go free!”
The whole thing reminded me a lot of “Saw” and something Steven King would come up with. It was pretty good, good enough that I keep planning on tuning in to find out what is going on.
What follows are spoilers for the next two shows . . . .
THE EDGE – 6/14 10 PM
ATTEMPTS TO ESCAPE– While the group attempts to understand why they were kidnapped, Moira (Tina Holmes) painfully removes the implant device that has been embedded in each person’s thigh. Elsewhere, trying to escape back to their normal lives, Joe (Jason Wiles) and McNair (Chadwick Boseman) carefully test the limits of the invisible fence. Meanwhile, back in San Francisco, curious reporter Renbe’s (Gerald Kyd) search for information on missing mom Janet (Daisy Betts) hits a dead end. Also starring are Alan Ruck, Sean O’Bryan, Kate Lang Johnson and Lola Glaudini.
THE WAY THROUGH – 6/21 10PM
A CHANCE TO ESCAPE LEADS TO TOXIC FEELINGS– After a week of escape attempts end in failure, tension begins to grow within the group. When a helicopter appears above the hostages, they are hopeful that help has arrived, but the craft only hovers long enough to drop a mysterious box. Meanwhile, San Francisco reporter Renbe (Gerald Kyd) puts himself back on the case of Janet’s (Daisy Betts) disappearance, despite warnings to stop his investigation. Also starring are Alan Ruck, Jason Wiles, Sean O’Bryan, Moira Doherty, Chadwick Boseman, Kate Lang Johnson and Lola Glaudini.
I haven’t yet decided if I will actually watch “The Gates” or “Scoundrels” past the first episodes, but given the lack of other stuff, I suspect I will. I have been hearing good things about “The Gates” from those who have screened some early episodes.

Comments Off on Week 2 of The Gates and Scoundrels
According to TV Guide, who spoke with “Heroes” creator Tim Kring, “Heroes” may get a real finale in the form of a mini-series. Kring plans to meet with NBC to discuss the idea, which would involve a time jump of a year into the future and would deal with the ramifications of Claire “outing” the heroes to the world.
So last night’s “Army Wives” was another Debbie Downer of an episode. The highlight was Denises’ unexpected pregnancy, because she was told she’d never have anymore after Jeremy. However even that was not the happy event it should have been as Roxie was still mourning her loss, and Frank was afraid he’d be a screw up as a father again. In the end though, Roxy and Trevor did seem to come to terms with their loss, and both decided to try again.
Joan returned home, yet what should have been a happy homecoming wasn’t as her daughter cried around her as if she was a stranger. It was really heartbreaking. By the end of the show though, she said her first word, “mama.”
Poor Emmalynn broke her leg during a hockey match, one which college scouts attended. The outlook on her leg isn’t good, as the injury she has will need a full year to heal. She also worried this would be a career ender, and she wouldn’t get a scholarship.
Finally the tear jerker storyline was Pam and Chase realizing their relationship was broken and neither knew how to fix it. By the end of the show we saw Chase pack a bag and move out.
The previews for next week indicate a 6 month jump in time, with Denise fairly pregnant in the previews. I guess they did this so we don’t have to wait too long to have things like Pam and Chase’s marital issues resolved, Emmalyn’s leg issues advanced, and we will probably see Denise give birth by the end of the season.
Not much was mentioned about Claudia Joy in this episode, but I imagine we’ll see her in school come the next episode. There was no real hints as to what awaited Roxy and Trevor. I have a bad feeling they won’t have an easy time getting pregnant again.
It’s a shame that ABC pulled “Happy Town” off for two weeks, because this latest episode was the best to date.
Tommy teamed up with self-proclaimed Magic Man expert Merritt to try and recover his wife Rachel. We learned that some of the original kidnapping victims might still be alive, as the hand from his very first was severed and delivered to a bread factory with Rachel’s ring on it! By the end of the episode Rachel was returned home alive, but has no memory of what happened to her. Merritt said he’s changed his game! It seems he’s now kidnapping and returning people, almost as if challenging the cops to try and find him. We also learned Merritt has a past with the Magic Man, it seems someone close might have been a victim of his, and he commented the Magic Man’s terror extends beyond just Haplin. Hmmmmm!
Another interesting development was something going on between Peggy Haplin and Tommy’s father the Sheriff, as she visited him making a comment about how she thought they took care of “this” long ago? Then Chloe showed up at Peggy’s place with her hammer (which she got back) and blackmailed Peggy, claiming it was her rightful inheritance? What is going on? I don’t fully know, but I loved this episode! I almost got the feeling that Chloe is a Haplin somehow, maybe by an affair, and she is what Peggy and the Sheriff thought they took care of?
