Only “Castle” and “Ugly Betty” were new releases – so far (the end of January has 2 weeks of “Housewives repeats it seems . . . what what what?)

“Brothers and Sisters” came back last night and the show pretty much centered on Kitty’s collapse at the wedding, which in fact kept it from being finished. That will definitely be future drama between Justin and Rebecca me thinks!
Holly scored more points with me when she was the one to realize (with some video camera help) that Ryan sabotaged the wine. She confronted him, and he prepared to run like the rat he is.
Of course we couldn’t have Ryan run and finally be done with this failure of a character. Nooooo, we had to pull him back in and start his possible redemption. Kitty needed a bone marrow transplant and of course nobody but Ryan was a match. In the end Ryan showed up, thanks to some muscling from Robert’s men.
Nora and Ryan had a talk about what he did to the wine, Ojai and his anger towards William. Ryan hated William still, but at the same time didn’t want some kid (Kitty’s son) growing up without his mother either (like he did). I have to say, Nora was a lot calmer than I would have been, but then she did need him to save Kitty. Kudos to Nora for pointing out they were not William, and they had done nothing but be warm and welcoming to him. I really hope this is the end of Ryan trying to sabotage the company, because I have loathed that storyline. If the Walkers keep him working there though . . . well I guess they get what’s coming to them!
The big shock was Robert dropping out of the race for governor. Didn’t see that one coming at all. I was sure he’d simply run as an independent. I’m still not ruling that out though.
The humor in this episode was provided by old diaries Kitty asked Sarah to throw away as they involved her in a scandalous affair with a very important Washington D.C. politician when she was still young and naive. Of course they never named him. Grrrrrr! They only referred to him as the silver fox, and said that it wasn’t Clinton.
So “Desperate Housewives” finally returned after a holiday break that seemed to last forever. However even though we found out who died in the crash, I felt like this was still a “holiday filler” episode because it was mostly about what-if dreams of the future. Gabby’s of course was pretty funny as she became a TV/Stage mom.
None of the three deaths I felt were a shock. We guessed them all. In this day and age, the only way to do a shocking TV death is not to tease about an upcoming shocking TV death on your show!
Mona the nurse was a no brainer, she had to die to keep Angie’s secret. Karl I think we all assumed just because we knew Orson was still going to be around after the crash. The third death was one of Lynette’s unborn twins, which was heartbreaking.
I’ve felt the death of one or both of those babies had been foreshadowed the whole season. Also it’s obvious Lynette’s loss while saving Gabby and Carlos’ daughter is what will bring them all back together as friends . . . but from previews put a strain on Tom and Lynette’s marriage.
Bree got the news that Orson was possibly paralyzed from the crash. This one I just rolled my eyes at. Yet another plot device to keep Bree with Orson, along with that dream of the future she had of him dying alone and of a broken heart. I still don’t like Orson!
Katherine must have been in the mental hospital still as she wasn’t in the episode.
The biggest turn of events came from Angie’s what-if scenario, of her and Nick being caught if Mona lived. We learned that Angie was clearly on the run from some mob boss like guy and he is who she was afraid of. Also the death that Angie seems to have committed appears to have been an innocent by stander? She was apologizing to the wife and son of the man who died, saying nobody was supposed to die. It sounds like Angie, with Nick’s help, might have pulled off some scheme to escape the scary guy and an innocent person was killed? Well that’s what I’m going with for now 🙂
