Quick Ghost Whisperer and Medium Thoughts

Quick Ghost Whisperer and Medium Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 01.15.2010 at 2:49 pm

So it’s a week late, but the last new shows I’ve seen were “Ghost Whisperer” and “Medium” last Friday. Unfortunately the only network TV channel I have had this week is CBS, and these are the only CBS shows I watch. I will have to play catch-up when I return home on Sunday.

Because I’ve missed “Housewives” and “Grey’s” I’ve been trying to avoid the spoilerish bits online so they aren’t ruined. It’s hard though!

“Ghost Whisperer” was an entertaining enough episode, definitely a stand alone episode. I guess I liked it though because Ned was heavily involved, and he seems to have been absent as of late. This was the episode where he was working as a radio DJ at the college station and was haunted by a ghost who died as a result of a radio punk-phone prank done years earlier.

“Medium” however I really enjoyed because it finally featured more of Joe working at his job with his bizarre genius still-a-teen boss. The interaction between them over Joe not liking his book, and his throwing a tantrum at his job review was great. The story involving Allison with the killer couple was good too, I could have done without the dead dog though!

I’m not sure if I’ll get to see the shows tonight or not unfortunately because it looks like I’m stuck eating dinner very late, unless I can change that, which I might. We’ll see!

On a side note, apparently the word is both these shows are expected to be renewed by CBS.

Glee Renewed, Simon Leaves Idol, Other Bits

Glee Renewed, Simon Leaves Idol, Other Bits

Posted by Dustin on 01.13.2010 at 12:24 pm

The big news to come out in the last day, aside from the Leno fiasco, is Simon Cowell announcing he’s leaving “American Idol” after this season. He’ll be working on an American version of his UK talent show “X-Factor” for Fox. What this means for “Idol” is anyones guess. I don’t think it can keep going with only one of the original judges left, but we’ll see.

There is a rumor that Simon is going to put Paula on “X Factor” as a judge, but I think it’s only a rumor.

“Glee” has been given a 2nd season already, so rejoice with song “Glee” fans!

Other page updates soon. I’ve been posting and retweeting a lot of news links too, which can be found in the side bar.

Once again, not too much. For those who are fans of “Lost,” it is returning. The last week of January has “Grey’s” and “Practice” repeating. No release yet for “Brothers and Sisters.” On “Housewives” Julie Benz from “Dexter” begins her guest run, while this is the drag queen episode of “Ugly Betty” this week.

Leno And Vacation Updates

Leno And Vacation Updates

Posted by Dustin on 01.11.2010 at 12:04 pm

As most have heard by now, the “Jay Leno Show” at 10pm didn’t go as NBC planned. It will be moving back to 11:35-12:30, with Cohnan taking a 12:30-1:00am slot it seems (I haven’t heard if Cohnan officially accepted this or not yet, a little cut off right now!)

As for the site, I’ll get as many news releases out as I can. I saw “Ghost Whisperer” and “Medium,” so expect a write-up of them at some point. Unfortunately CBS is the only major network I have with an actual primetime line up for the next week. So I’ll have to play speedy catch-up on shows this weekend!

Grey’s/Practice January 21st Spoilers

Spoiler releases for the January 21st episodes of “Grey’s” and “Private Practice” follow . . . . Highlights include the second return of Izzie on “Grey’s” and Maya delivering shocking news to Sam and Naomi on “Practice” . . . My initial guess is she’s pregnant, but that’s too easy I think, probably just that she’s having sex.

Vacation!

Vacation!

Posted by Dustin on 01.08.2010 at 12:39 pm

Yes it’s that time of the year again, my annual January vacation 🙂 It has already started actually. On Sunday I board a cruise ship for a week, with hopes to escape the cold weather. We’ll see if that happens as even Florida is having record cold temps!

The ship usually has current primetime TV showing at night . . . daytime TV not so much . . . but then again we don’t have to worry about seeing daytime daily anymore 🙂 However I usually am out at night partying, so I may not have thought posts on the returning shows this coming week until I get home and watch them on Tivo or online. Though I am going to make my best attempt at Thursday night cause I really wanna see the Grey’s/Practice return. Spoiler releases and any news I will do my best to keep up on. I’ll probably be tweeting more than normal so be sure to check the tweet side bar if you don’t usually. I already posted a few last night.

Ugly Betty’s Wednesday Debut!

Ugly Betty’s Wednesday Debut!

Posted by Dustin on 01.07.2010 at 11:11 pm

“Ugly Betty” returned last night with an awesome episode. In the end, Cal Hartley was out at Mode and Willihemena back in. I have to say, I STILL have issues with Willy using the money Conner stole from Mead to buy her way back in, but they don’t know how in with Cal she really is. I’m sure she’ll slip up at some point.

I have a feeling based on how things were left with Cal, learning about his bastard son, that the kid will resurface at some point down the line. In the episode he was in, Claire accidentally left her business card or something with the giant tip. I bet he looks into her and figures out she’s his birth mom.

Matt’s art show, arranged by Betty, was the best part of the show. Unbeknowst to Betty, the woman setting up the show picked paintings Matt did during their break-up, so it was things like Betty as Medusa, Betty eating Matt’s heart, etc . . . The paintings were hilarious, especially the one Amanda bought of headless Betty and just her boobs!

Mark’s gayboy stalker/boyfriend wanna be was so adorable. I felt bad for him as Mark was trying to get rid of him, but at the end it seems Mark took a liking to him.

Of course the shocker was when Hilda accidentally spilled the beans to Bobby, as well as her father, that she was pregnant. Oops! At first I was against Bobby, because I liked Archie so much . . . but I’m warming up. I just don’t know if he will be good for her. I think though he will be good for Justin, and that will win Hilda and her father over.

Heroes Returns: Confused Heroes!

Heroes Returns: Confused Heroes!

Posted by Dustin on 01.06.2010 at 5:37 pm

“Heroes” returned on Monday with a two hour episode. For fans like me, who have a somewhat waning interest in the show as of late, 2 hours was really pushing it. I found myself drifting in focus back and forth. The following is mostly just some random thoughts on what happened rather than a recap . . .

With the funeral for Nathan and burying of his body, I guess Nathan really is going to be a “stuck” death. I had hoped they were keeping his body on ice as maybe there would be a chance for his return in the future if the show decided to do so. Guess not!

The Hiro brain tumor storyline where he was talking in pop-culture movie riddles was funny at first, but got old fast. He eventually lead Ando to were Surresh was being held, and let him know they had to rescue him.

I just don’t find Hiro that funny anymore, and when they make him funny I tune out. I like it when he’s more of the kind compassionate yet fierce warrior her original was (or wanted to be).

I liked that Claire did not trust Samuel as far as she could throw him, but at the same time she didn’t want to take away the promise of the community Samuel had made to those like Lydia and Doyle that it was important to. However in the end, I don’t think Samuel gives a rats ass about any of the people he’s collected, he has a plan to tap into their powers for something big.

As a result of Sylar’s body/mind switch it appears he’s “impotent” as they put it, unable to kill to take any more powers (but he can still take powers). A clever way of getting around him killing the whole carnival as he planned.

I really liked Lydia and Sylar pairing up, I just hope we don’t have to live through another Kristen Bell fiasco where he does end up killing her somehow!

Sylar, using Lydia’s power, found out once again he has to go in search of the Cheerleader. So the show seems to have been brought full-circle back to the beginning. I do have to wonder if this is anticipation of this being the final season? There have been some comments online from show execs though that basically the show still makes NBC a fair amount of money, so they doubt they will be canceled.

I do wonder why Sylar is going back to the Cheerleader? To try and get that something extra special in her? Will it make him able to kill again perhaps?

Samuel went to collect Emma, and we learned that her power is much much more than just seeing the sounds others see or make. He told her in time she’d learn what her real power was, but didn’t tell her. It appears she can control the sounds like sonic shock waves perhaps? The previews seemed to show Samuel using her to cause great destruction.

Fun Fact! “Heroes” was apparently the most pirated and downloaded show of 2009!
