Brothers and Sisters: Ryan’s Redemption?

“Brothers and Sisters” came back last night and the show pretty much centered on Kitty’s collapse at the wedding, which in fact kept it from being finished. That will definitely be future drama between Justin and Rebecca me thinks!

Holly scored more points with me when she was the one to realize (with some video camera help) that Ryan sabotaged the wine. She confronted him, and he prepared to run like the rat he is.

Of course we couldn’t have Ryan run and finally be done with this failure of a character. Nooooo, we had to pull him back in and start his possible redemption. Kitty needed a bone marrow transplant and of course nobody but Ryan was a match. In the end Ryan showed up, thanks to some muscling from Robert’s men.

Nora and Ryan had a talk about what he did to the wine, Ojai and his anger towards William. Ryan hated William still, but at the same time didn’t want some kid (Kitty’s son) growing up without his mother either (like he did). I have to say, Nora was a lot calmer than I would have been, but then she did need him to save Kitty. Kudos to Nora for pointing out they were not William, and they had done nothing but be warm and welcoming to him. I really hope this is the end of Ryan trying to sabotage the company, because I have loathed that storyline. If the Walkers keep him working there though . . . well I guess they get what’s coming to them!

The big shock was Robert dropping out of the race for governor. Didn’t see that one coming at all. I was sure he’d simply run as an independent. I’m still not ruling that out though.

The humor in this episode was provided by old diaries Kitty asked Sarah to throw away as they involved her in a scandalous affair with a very important Washington D.C. politician when she was still young and naive. Of course they never named him. Grrrrrr! They only referred to him as the silver fox, and said that it wasn’t Clinton.

  1. What really bothered/confused me about this episode was the time line.

Kitty collapses, everyone gets tested, Kitty is recovered enough to get the transplant and then go home? This should have taken weeks – Kitty’s recovery alone. When they do that marrow transplant, they first irradiate your entire body killing you immune system to prepare it for the new marrow. Then it takes weeks to build the new immune system during which you’re in isolation. And during all this time they suspended Ryan’s investigation and Simon (Brenda’s husband on The Closer) has been where?
