Ghost Whisperer and Medium Halloween Spoilers!
Both shows look excellent this week, tackling the “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” as well as “Night of the Living Dead.”

So this week on “Ghost Whisperer,” Eli’s father was brought into the hospital were he suffered a fatal heart attack. His death brought Eli’s mother’s ghost back, she had died almost 8 years earlier. She was hanging around for a reason. She needed Melinda to get Eli’s dad to cross over before he started snooping and causing trouble. Of course Eli’s dad was stubborn and wasn’t going anywhere when he saw things happening between Eli and the daughter of his business partners, something he didn’t like!
The daughter and Eli grew up together and were each others’ first love/crush. However Eli’s dad, over the years, had told them both that Eli was dating someone, or she was dating someone. He also began haunting them as they got closer. Melinda began to piece things together . . . Eli’s mom had an affair which Eli’s dad found out about.
It turns out Eli’s parents shared a lake cabin with another couple, the mom was the dad’s business partner and the dad his best friend. Eli’s dad came up one night to find his wife setting up a romantic scene. He was shocked, and saw the husband’s car speeding off. He confronted the husband later, who wouldn’t confirm or deny what was going on. Eli’s dad worried if Eli was his son or not, which would make Eli possibly the brother to their daughter. This was why he was haunting them, to keep them apart.
Well as it turned out, Eli’s mom was having an affair, but with the wife not the husband! The other husband always suspected, which is why he let Eli’s dad think what he did. He didn’t want to break up his own family over this. The other wife basically loved her husband as well as Eli’s mom, she was caught in the middle. Eli’s mom however was gay, but felt trapped in the closet so to speak, and was afraid to come out.
My Thoughts
I have to say, I was shocked by the turn of events. I didn’t even guess this one! I just thought they were doing a generic “affair and now your in love with your sister” storyline. The gay twist was pretty good!
It also seems after all this time Eli might have met a girl that not only likes him, but doesn’t mind hi gift at all.
Melinda and Jim’s son got little air time in this episode, which I didn’t mind. I don’t think every episode needs to be all about him. We still got no answers about Sam, his past, how people think of Sam/Jim. I’m thinking we probably won’t at this point.
I realized I never did a post on “Eastwick” . . . Ahhhh! Told you I’ve been busy this week 🙂 Thought I’d do a quick post during commercials of tonight’s GW/Medium double feature.
First, I’m loving this show. It reminds me both of the early seasons of “Charmed” as well as season 1 of “Desperate Housewives,” you know when each episode ended on a shocker.
Kat, for some reason, game her dolt of a husband Raymond a second chance. Why why why? By the end of the episode she again realized what a piece of @$%@$#% he was thought when he blew up at her. However I have to wonder, how much of his blow-up was possible Daryl’s doing? Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for Kat to leave that waste of @$%@%@#%, but I can’t help but wonder who Daryl is controlling. By the end of the show Raymond had taken off with the kids!
On the same note, Joanna got her first major newspaper story and scoop. She caught the Reverend Dunn, the man most vocally opposed to Daryl, at a whore house! She however realized Daryl led her there. Again, was the revered a regular, or was this a behavior put into him by Daryl?
Finally Roxanna was not only haunted by Mia’s @$%@%@$% of a rapist boyfriend, but found out she now had the ability to basically wish death on people by her words. The first problem was solved by simply telling the ghost she was sorry, that made him leave. The second? Another power she has . . . or the devil granting wishes?
Like I said, I’m loving this show. It has not just redone the movie, but reinvented it. It’s also one big mystery every week, where we are left hanging waiting for next week. I swear if ABC cancels this show . . . . I will not be held responsible for my actions!
The onslaught of commercials for “V” have begun on ABC. The miniseries begins November 3rd, and from what it seems, concludes sometime the following year. My guess is they are hoping to grab both November and February sweeps with the show. Originally it was set to just be a one season show, now it’s been broken up into a mini-series format it would seem.
Below is an extended trailer for the miniseries, which many of the shorter commercials now airing are from.
Your thoughts? Will you tune in? As a fan of the original I will, but the idea of remakes bug me as they rarely work out.
So I’m doing another mostly a thoughts post. I’ve just been very busy, and probably will remain so the next few weeks. So when I can add in recaps I will, or I’ll go back at some point and fill them in, or link to the network’s official recaps 🙂
On “Grey’s” I think what I found myself watching most closely this week and most amused by was all the ways they were hiding Ellen/Meredith’s real life pregnancy. From having her sit on a chair in the hall behind a cart, to pacing around with her hands in her jacket pockets, to finally being stuck in a bed . . . all amusing!
Clearly the story with her now being in bed for a month getting rest is how they’ll keep her off screen and off her feet for awhile. Should she be afraid of getting cut though since she’s not performing? Something tells me the Chief won’t fire her, out of guilt and the need to look after her like he always has. Will that get him charged with favoritism?
Yang scrambling for surgeries and ending up with the penis pump guy was hilarious! Especially when she took over prepping him for surgery, not knowing what kind it was.
In the end Yang’s speech to the Chief that if he can’t provide her with the teaching she needs here, he should just cut her. He realized he now had to make this hospital great again, even if he is seen as the bad guy. Well many of us have been bitching about the Chief and now it seems he’s become Darth Vadar per say, taking on the role of the villain.
On “Private Practice,” the whole story with Violet not being able to relate to her baby was heart breaking. When she gave Lucas over to Pete at the end saying this was her being a good mother, OMG, heart wrenching!
I’m still miffed that we don’t know who the father of this kid is and he’s a month old. Sheldon clearly wants a paternity test, but Pete won’t let it happen just yet. Don’t drag this thing out please! I get Pete is probably protecting Violet, the baby and yes even himself a bit; but it will be harder the accept the truth the longer this goes on.
The story with the mother and father protecting the angry little kid who stabbed her dad I felt was overdone, but had a neat twist this time. The father wasn’t an abuser, it was the kid, but because of a medical condition she had and no fault of her own. However you could see it was the kid from the moment the mom (Kellie Martin) insisted she stabbed her husband, but it was an accident. Oh and the police coming to arrest her when she herself was beat up and looked like an abused wife . . . hardly! It might have been protocol, but to drag her off to jail like they did? I don’t think so . . .
Because I’m behind, and don’t want to get further behind, I’m doing a more of a thoughts post with some recap added in on the latest “Army Wives.”
First up, Michael got the news that Ft Marshall was on the shortlist of bases the Army might cut. Um, yeah since that would be the end of the show, I think all of us know that one isn’t going to happen.
Jeremy continued to deal with the loss of his friend, which was made worse this week when he learned the LeBlanc’s adopted Lucky. I felt so bad for Jeremy, who then got drunk and started a fight at the hump. Next week’s previews for the finale said we’ll be left speechless by a scene. I think Denise standing in front of her house with her hand over her mouth either says it all, or is a big misleading teaser. A lot of the stuff that happened in this episode was “drama’d-up” in last week’s previews for sure.
Trevor continued to coach and help the overweight out-of-shape kid, who passed all the tests he needed to get into the army. I just am worried that something will happen to this kid, like a heart attack or something, and will send Trevor into a downward spiral of guilt.
Roland and Price got arrested this week because of a patient and racist cops. OMG I was so cursing when all this went down, but it lead to a bigger story. Price, knowing the local cops had his prints, had to flee . . . the country I’m guessing as he grabbed his passport. He wouldn’t tell Roland why, because the less he knew the better. I’m thinking Price wasn’t a doctor at all, and that’s why he ran. He did mean well and want to help people, but either his license was revoked or he was a fraud.
Violet had to fill in for a singer who called out sick at The Hump, and shocked Roxy with how amazing she was. A talent scout was in the audience and made her an offer to sing in his club in Atlanta, which she refused. He wasn’t going to give up though. Are we going to lose Violet? My guess is no, as she’ll probably become the permanent singer at The Hump instead, as well as Roxy’s official business partner.
Finally the FRG competed in a golf tournament, one in which Denise was determined to win. However they had to replace players on their team with Roxy and Pamela, both who weren’t the best players. Denise lost it on poor Roxy, screaming at her for losing the game for them. Denise had to apologize, but Roxy was glad to know she wasn’t the only one to lose her Shhhhhh every once and awhile. I was hating Denise up until this part and Roxy’s line to her, which in fact made me giggle.
It’s been a few days since the latest “Brothers and Sisters” aired. Before I fall further behind, I’m simply going to write up some thoughts on the episode.
So Ryan was back in this episode. Le sigh. I could have done with pretending he never existed honestly. He was up to no good too, sneaking financial documents to some guy who needed them. Is this part of Ryan’s hissy fit plan to destroy William’s company? I kinda got the feeling that Ryan was actually being used by the other guy. Who is that guy? I don’t know why, but I felt it was some long lost/rejected brother of William’s.
I felt Robert was being an ass as usual through most of the episode. Kitty kept trying to tell him about her cancer, but all he was about was himself and the campaign imploding as news of his heart attack was leaked. I was ready for park-dad to come back! By the end of the show it seemed Robert stepped up to the plate and was there for Kitty. However I have to wonder for how long?
Scotty was the one I loved the most in this whole episode frankly. I loved his and Nora’s talk about Kevin being a workaholic and his concerns about that and bringing a child into this world. Kevin said he would not be an absent father as he had one growing up, but he wouldn’t quit his job either. I don’t know, I just wonder if Kevin is able to find balance?
By the end of the episode Nora broke down and told Saul about Kitty’s cancer. When she started crying I admit it, I was crying too! Sally Fields will be up for another Emmy next year for that scene alone!
Via Ausiello at EW.com, “True Blood” is casting new roles for season 3.
Apparently staying somewhat true to the third book “Club Dead,” the show is casting werewolf Alcide and his nutsoid ex-girlfriend Debbie Pelt for the third season.
So last night’s “Heroes” was okay, but again I find myself not getting too upset with myself if I’m distracted by other things while it is on. First a mini-cap then some thoughts.
Ando and Hiro’s sister are now planning to be married, and Hiro agreed to give her away. Ando was upset, knowing Hiro might not be alive by time the wedding was here, and wanted Hiro to tell her the truth. Hiro spent the episode trying to save some guy from killing himself. It was humorous because the guy kept shaming himself and getting fired for photocopying his butt over and over and over. In the end Hiro saved him and told Kimiko the truth. As they hugged, he got a pain in his head, then poof . . vanished!
HRG spent the episode throwing a pity party and wondering what his life had amounted too. Claire tried to snap him out of it. He felt he had done nothing but bring pain and misery into peoples lives, he hunted and locked people up. He decided to apparently to start trying to help people.
At that point, over at the Dark Carnival, Lydia the tattoo girl showed the leader Samuel a tattoo image of HRG. Samuel was angry, saying he was the past and no longer interested in them, why does she keep showing HRG to him. She said well now he’s interested again!
Tracy decided to go see the governor to get her job back. However as they were in a fancy restaurant having dinner, Tracy had to run to the bathroom. She began losing control of her powers and turning to water! Her powers settled and she returned, telling the governor off basically and walking out on him. (This is one of the stories I missed some of).
Nathan was concerned about new powers he was acquiring, not sure how he was doing so. He also had some fuzzy memories of his past. Angela tried to help him remember his past, but thanks to Sylar’s power of picking up memories from objects, it opened up a long buried secret. When Nathan was a teen he was messing around with the daughter of Angela’s best friend (Swoozie Kurtz’ character). They were drunk, at the pool, and well she hit her head and died. Angela used her powers and connections to cover it up and erase it from Nathan’s mind. Guilt ridden, Nathan told Swoozie the truth. Later Swoozie had Nathan kidnapped, taken into the woods, dumped in a grave, shot and buried. Of course because he’s Sylar, he didn’t stay dead . . . and when he rose from the grave he WAS in Sylar’s form!
My Thoughts
The best part of this episode of course was Nathan’s story, when he emerged from the grave as Sylar. From the previews though, even though he’s in Sylar’s body, it looks like he doesn’t know who he is.
Hiro’s story with the butt-copier was funny. However I just wondered if the sister doesn’t have a power? Hiro does, and both the parents did, so shouldn’t she have one? Maybe she hasn’t discovered it yet?
The Tracy story I was confused about. Again I didn’t pay close attention to that one. It was almost as if her powers were acting like a lie detector?
I wish they’d give more time to the Dark Carnies, as right now they’re what I’m interested in above anything else going on.
