Grey’s and Private Practice Thoughts

Grey’s and Private Practice Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 10.16.2009 at 6:47 pm

So last night was the big cross-over of Bailey from “Grey’s” to “Private Practice.” This is mostly a thoughts post on the shows, and I have to go back and watch “Practice” over again as I missed some things (as usual).

I loved Callie’s dad showing up on “Grey’s,” and bringing Father Lonigan from “Passions” to help pray away Callie’s gay. Callie standing up to her father, as well as Arizona’s talk about her own father’s reaction, were the highlights of the episode I thought.

Most of the episode focused on the Mercy Wester’s invading, and they were damn good doctor’s it seems. Everyone was on their toes and Izzie made a mistake that cost Bailey’s patient a kidney transplant (paving the way for her to go to “Private Practice” to get one). The mistake also cost Izzie her job, she was the latest to be fired.

Not only did she lose her job, she left Alex a “Dear John” note basically saying she was gone. Ouch!

I don’t know, for most of the show I sat there hating the Mercy Westers, loathing what was happening to the show. Then I realized I guess it made for damn good drama if I was getting so pissed off. Yet there is a fine line, piss the fans off too much and they walk!

Bailey headed to Oceanside Wellness to see about using her patient’s sister as a possible transplant. Of course then came the news she was HIV positive and not a candidate. The woman didn’t care, she was going to die without this, so if she contracted AIDS at least she had a shot at living a little while longer than she has right now. Drama!

Sheldon learned that Pete had the baby, and they finally took the paternity test. It’s Pete’s! I think this is gunna be the end of Sheldon on the show now. Violet still couldn’t be happy about the news.

Addison’s pregnant woman from last season (Noah’s wife) showed up wanting to know if she slept with her husband. Addison didn’t, but she did admit she fell in love with him. The wife said that was worse, sex was just an act, but now she’ll never know if Noah is thinking about Addison or her. Bailey later let Addison have it as well, saying she may think she did the right thing by not sleeping with the guy, but she still cheated as she stole his affections away from his wife.

I kinda got the feeling this was paving the way for Noah’s return possibly? Not sure, but after this episode, could we accept her and Noah together after Bailey basically told her she still did wrong?

Eastwick: The Symbol & The Spawn?

Eastwick: The Symbol & The Spawn?

Posted by Dustin on 10.15.2009 at 7:05 pm

So some good stuff on this week’s “Eastwick,” yet at the same time I wanted to scream as well. First a recap then some thoughts.

First up, Joanna was all ready for her date with Will when her ex-fiance who dropped her at the altar showed up. This guy treated her like crap, so what does she do when he says he’s sorry and made a mistake? She sleeps with him and stands up Will. Only after did she bother to use her truth powers on him to get him tell her why he left her, basically he got to the point where he couldn’t stand her. The next day she told him off in front of the whole office, thinking he just can’t commit to a woman and runs when it gets too hard (he was in town to get married again). While she told him off, Will learned what happened the night before (when she stood him up) and wanted nothing to do with her anymore. Oops!

Kat panicked, thinking Raymond kidnapped the kids. He just took them out for the morning, and brought them back with a dog. However he issued the threat he could take them out again and never come back. She called Daryl’s lawyer, who of course was a sexy hot mama. They began legal proceedings, but by the end of the show agreed to call off the lawyers and settling this rationally. Kat however said the marriage was over, she has changed and can’t go back.

The real story in this episode was with Roxanne and Jamie, the Irish writer living upstairs who she keeps dreaming is going to kidnap and kill her. She saw him outside Daryl’s place taking photos of the mansion. Later she broke in and found a book in his place, a book with the same symbol she saw as a brand on him in her visions. She stole it and showed it to Kat and Joanna. Kat said Bun had been scribbling the same symbol at the hospital, while Joanna said she saw it an the house of a crazy lady outside of town (part of the older Daryl triad of women).

Later Roxanne learned Jamie was desperate to find the book, it was left to him by his real mother. He admitted he was adopted, and came to Eastwick not only to write about witchcraft, but to find his mother. She also found photos of Daryl at his place, so she realized he was spying on them earlier. Later Bun, out of the hospital but with amnesia, saw the book at Roxanne’s and said it was her book. Roxanne realized she was Jamie’s mother. She confirmed this later when she saw Jamie and told Roxanne she knew that boy somehow, she thinks she held him in her arms at the hospital after he was born. Roxanne promised to help Bun get her memory back.

At the end of the show Joanna’s assistant at the paper (Sara Rue’s character) went to see Jamie. She said she has been pushing Joanna to go ahead with the story on Daryl/Sebastian. Jamie is her mole and has been feeding her info . . . and they are having a love affair!

My Thoughts

So I just have a bad feeling about Kat and Raymond. He either will steal the kids, or he’ll meet a suspicious end and go missing on his own, leaving Kat to look like the big suspect.

Joanna just infuriated me this entire episode. OMG, how could she have used her powers after blowing off Will and sleeping with the guy. Couldn’t you have asked him that question the minute you saw him? I’d like to feel sorry for her, but I don’t. I feel bad for Will!

I loved the twist with Sara Rue’s character and Jamie. Is she going to be a bad girl then, or is he just using her? I just love seeing Sarah Rue on TV again. I’ve loved her since “Popular.”

Speaking of Jamie, I think we have Daryl’s first spawn on the show!

Matt Mitovich (who is now on FanCast it seems) has posted two “Private Practice” scoops. Stephen Collins (7th Heaven) will play Addison’s father “The Captain,” while JoBeth Williams (Poltergeist, Dexter) will be her mother Forbes Montgomery.

Sweet casting!

Heroes: Someone’s Getting Killed Off (Again . . . ) *Updated With Quick Thoughts*

Heroes: Someone’s Getting Killed Off (Again . . . ) *Updated With Quick Thoughts*

Posted by Dustin on 10.13.2009 at 1:50 pm

So it seems we’ve been here many times, someone is getting killed on “Heroes,” though this time it looks to be for good.

Ausiello dropped the first hints this morning, talking about a major leading man on a one time ratings powerhouse had just been coldly fired, and was filming death scenes next week. He didn’t reveal what show, only that it wasn’t “Grey’s,” but promised hints to come.

Now Kristin has basically come out and said the show is “Heroes” and it’s an original cast member. She said it’s someone she’s really going to miss.

Who do you think it it? It could be so many!

  • Hiro has a brain tumor and is dying . . .
  • Nathan is already dead, and I’ve been saying I think only one (Nathan or Sylar) will survive this season in the body (one body one soul)
  • There is no love loss between the actors playing Peter and Claire, rumors ran rampant last year she wanted him fired after the couple broke up in real life (notice they haven’t been in scenes together anymore).
  • Surresh . . . where has Surresh been all season?
  • HRG seems to be a target of the Dark Carnies . . . .

Your thoughts?

P.S. I’ll try and add some thoughts on last night’s show (what little I watched) to the end of this post later. Everyone seemed to like it, I guess I’ll have to rewatch what I missed!

P.S.S. – The quick quick thoughts on what I can remember 🙂

Loved the introduction of the invisible girl. Totally out of left park, makes Gretchen look crazy, which is a plus since I’m not feeling her character.

The kiss between Claire and Gretched I think was way jumping the shark, like in a motorcycle and through a ring of fire!

The whole romance or whatever is going on with Peter and the deaf girl. I don’t know. I’m still not getting her power to be honest either.

Sylar not knowing who he is could be fun, but we’ve done this before haven’t we? He always goes back to being the guy we love to hate. Though I still hate him for killing off Elle!

Sylar showing up at the Carnival will be fun. However the whole “moves around thing” I felt was way too “Something Wicked This Way Comes” . . . which reminds me it’s the time of year to watch that one again.

Desperate Housewives: The Bolens Have Secrets

Desperate Housewives: The Bolens Have Secrets

Posted by Dustin on 10.12.2009 at 5:05 pm

This wasn’t a particularly exciting week on “Housewives” in my opinion. I’m doing a thoughts post with some mini recaps all mixed in here.

The biggest story with the most developments (which we kinda could guess already) involved the Bolens. Bob was hired to defend Danny, which pissed off Susan. Even Lynette reminded her everyone thought her kid was guilty last year and he wasn’t. Susan was just convinced Danny was guilty.

Bob asked Danny’s family for background info, character references, but they would give nothing to him. Danny told Bob to figure out what was going on here, this family has deep dark secrets! Later Nick told Angie maybe it was time to give up being Nick and Angie Bowlen and move on, but Angie wouldn’t do that. So yeah, that’s not even their real names. Many have suggested in the shoutbox that they are probably in the witness protection program. Given the show has made them out as stereotypical mobsters, sounds like it. I’d like to say it is too predictable, but it seems every year the show’s new mystery is quickly figured out and the predictable is what it turns out to be.

In the end, Danny’s story checked out, and a liquor store security camera showed him drinking in his car all night. Yeah, it was TOO easy for Danny to be the attacker. After other neighbors trashed the Bolen’s yard, Susan went over to help Angie pick things up as a way of saying she was sorry.

Julie is apparently still in her not-a-coma-but-unconscious state at the hospital. She wasn’t even in the episode.

Karl and Bree’s weird relationship continued. He wanted to go away for a weekend, but she said that was what people in a romantic relationship did, this was a fling, an affair. Later she caught him with another woman at a social event and found herself jealous. She finally decided, after ruining their date, to go out with him.

So I don’t know, I mean Karl is slime, everyone can see it, yet Bree is falling for him? He was not only out with another woman, he was going to take her to bed! He told Bree as much. I guess given she’s having an affair she’s in no place to judge though.

Speaking of affairs . . . . John Roland returned this week. Gabby, Carlos and the kids were all at a restaurant which John now owned. He bought it with his divorce settlement. Gabby was immediately taken with John, trying to look better to impress him, which upset Carlos. She made excuses that she would have tried to look better for anyone, but she was jealous when Anna went to work for John. The end of the show had her sneaking a peak at old photos of them together. Oh no, are we really going through another John affair again? Please no no no!

Finally Lynette was about to tell Carlos she was pregnant when he made her his new senior VP, because the other woman he was going to make the offer to was pregnant. Lynette took the job, and kept her secret. At dinner with an important client Tom had to drink all the wine he kept giving to Lynette, and got inappropriately yet hilariously drunk. He’s always funny when he drinks to much on the show actually. They should get Tom drunk more often 🙂

The previews for next week I have to say were the best thing about this show. Next week Lynette has a hard time hiding her pregnancy when “the twins” arrive, ie her boobs become giant and everyone thinks she’s had implants!

Army Wives: Season 3 Finale

Army Wives: Season 3 Finale

Posted by Dustin on 10.12.2009 at 12:10 pm

So last night was the season 3 “Army Wives” finale, and just like the previous seasons, it was the last few minutes that left us with the “Oh Ma Gaw!” moments. Here is sort of a bullet point rundown of the major moments . . . .

-Roland learned that Price was wanted by the FBI for the bombing of a federal building back when he was a student.

– The army decided to ban soldiers from a section of the town strip where army personnel were causing disruptions as it was bad PR. Thanks to Jeremy, The Hump was on the list of banned establishments.

– Roxy lost most of her business, and found out The Hump has been banned for a year. On top of that, she’s pregnant and was afraid to tell Trevor, who realized maybe now wasn’t the time to have a baby.

– Roxy found out about Viola’s offer to sing in the club in Atlanta and pushed her to take it.

– Pamela had it with Chase after he missed his daughter’s dance recite to help a work buddy. She said it wouldn’t be long before the kids also notice even when he’s here, he’s not really with them. He proposed a family trip to Myrtle Beach to get things back on track.

– Lenore the gossip monger returned to base as the new wife of General Ludwig, the man who had come to evaluate Ft Marshall as a possible candidate for being shut down.

– Michael was promoted to a two star general.

– Pamela learned Chase took a new training assignment as he was one of three guys specially picked. She warned him if he left and disappointed the kids again, they would not be waiting when he came home.

— The Final Moments —

– Roxy told Trevor about the baby, he was of course thrilled.

– In Iraq, Joan’s troop was ambushed and an insurgent fired a rocket launcher, blowing up a jeep she had taken cover behind.

– Chase came home to find Pamela and the kids gone, Pamela had packed her drawers and closet!

– Jeremy unlocked his father’s service revolver from a box. Denise and Frank pulled up in the driveway and as they walked toward the house they heard the gunshot!

My Thoughts

Ahhhhh! This show knows how to leave us hanging for a year at a time doesn’t it?

My guess is Price was a phony all along, never finishing school or really being a doctor. That’s why he needed Roland, to have someone who could write scripts.

Okay, so both Joan and Jeremy landed in mortal danger. Will one or both die? I can’t see Joan getting killed . . . wounded yes. But Jeremy? I hate to say it, but he could be a goner.

I didn’t think Viola would actually leave The Hump! I hope she finds a way to come back, I really liked her.

I don’t think it was fair that the army did that to Roxy’s business, or the others. How about baring any trouble making soldiers from them? Seems an unfair way to punish the good soldiers as well as the business owners who aren’t the problem!

Will they close Ft Marshall? That one was never resolved, and I think we know they won’t. It would be the end of the show!
