Army Wives: Lies, Doubts and Confessions
As usual, a quick recap, then some thoughts . . .
First up, Claudia Joy was STILL not accepting her diabetes. Michael and Emmalynn got her this fancy medic alert bracelet, knowing she wouldn’t go for the plain jane one, but she was miffed by the gift. It was later at Emmalynn’s hockey practice where she met the captain of the JV team did she finally accept things. The captain also had diabetes, and was taking her readings and giving insulin to herself in the stands while Claudia Joy was nearby. They struck up a conversation, and well, Claudia Joy basically realized that a teenager was coping with this disease while she was acting like a child about it. She finally told the girls about it, showing them how to use the insulin should anything happen to her while she was with them, and later put on her bracelet.
Pam visited with a beat-up Chase at the army hospital, where he claimed he was involved in a helicopter crash and couldn’t contact her until he was debriefed. He was released and allowed to go home, where the kids were terrified when they saw how badly beat-up he was. Later when Pamela was helping him get into bed, one of his bandages came off. She saw burn marks and realized there was no helicopter crash. She was a cop, she knows the signs, he was tortured. When confronted, he said he was in a helicopter crash, leave it. Clearly he wasn’t allowed to tell her what happened.
Trevor continued to try and persuade the girl from the local high school to sign up for the army, do what was best for her, not worry about her family and how they expected her to support them. He had Joan talk with her, as Joan came from a similar environment. After seeing how important Joan had become and learning what she had done in the army, the girl officially signed up and became Trevor’s first recruit.
Meanwhile Trevor, because he hadn’t deployed, reminded Roxy of a deal they had made. When he was home, they’d work on another kid. Roxy wasn’t sure and admitted to Pamela how she had spent so long trying to find the right father for her boys, she didn’t want things to change. Pamela realized Roxy was afraid Trevor would favor the new baby as it was biologically his, and that she was being silly. Later after watching Trevor with the boys she chose to throw away her birth control.
Joan got her orders from Michael this week, she officially ships out next week! She broke down in tears as she held her baby.
Denise began working as a paramedic-in-training and got high praise from her supervisor. Meanwhile over in Iraq, Jeremy’s friend was killed while on patrol. Jeremy was feeling guilty as his friend was in the turret of the Humvee, where only moments before Jeremy was. Jeremy let him go up as he kept complaining his feet were hurting from walking beside the Humvee. Jeremy called home and his parents tried to keep Jeremy from blaming himself. Jeremy said he’d be home in a week, they were both supposed to be going home.
My thoughts . . .
First up, Trevor and his recruits. While he’s on a high right now that he signed that girl, I think things are going to come crashing down for him. That overweight teen who can’t seem to keep up with the PT group, but is pushing himself? Yeah for some reason I see a health scare coming up with him, and Trevor getting into hot water for it.
As for Roxy and the baby . . . will she really get pregnant? Probably, but clearly it’s also going have some kind of drama involved. She’ll probably find out she’s pregnant when Trevor ends up being taken off recruiting and shipped back out!
I’m very glad Claudia Joy came clean with everyone and is dealing with her diabetes better, as watching her act the way she was . . . well I was growing tired of it. Claudia Joy is the strongest woman on this show, I felt this was almost out of character for her really. I mean she had a worse time dealing with this than Amanda’s death it seemed!
I feel bad for Pamela as she knows Chase is lying to her, but she also has to realize this is what she married into. As a former cop, she has to also know she wouldn’t have been able to share details of cases or stake-outs with Chase either. But yes, it still sucks for her or anyone in this situation 🙂
Next week’s episode looks like a total filler, a 40ths themed episode which goes back in time. I think somebody has been watching too much “Designing Women” at Lifetime!
