Harper’s Island: Crawling Through Tunnels
Posted by Dustin on 06.14.2009 at 11:04 am
As usual, first a recap, then some thoughts. Not much to recap this time, as a lot of the show was people crawling through tunnels 🙂
The show picked up with everyone knowing JD was dead and looking for his killer. Henry, as predicted, found him first and tried to save him . . . that’s why he was covered in blood. Shane joined up with the others at Wellington Manor, where Abby and Jeremy brought the Sheriff. Cal, who is apparently a nueroanatamist hooked the Sheriff up to an IV drip (which I guess they got from a hospital or something) and stabilized him. Abby meanwhile looked through the book her dad told her to get. She found out her mom was pregnant with Wakefield’s child at some point and felt it could be her. Shocking!
Soon everyone realized Beth had gone missing. They began looking around, Sully and Danny found a trail of blood leading them to some old prohibition tunnels under the manor . Several of them went into the tunnels, and Abby got cut off when a grate fell down on her.
Meanwhile Shea and Trish ended up stealing Shane’s truck to try and go find the psychic from the bachelorette party, thinking she might know where Madison was.
Back in the tunnels, Abby found a room where Madison was. They escaped and eventually climbed up a sewer drain, to be rescued by Trish and Shea who were on there way back to the manor.
Cal and his girlfriend meanwhile had made love, as she was turned on watching him save the sheriff. Later though the sheriff was gone! Everyone ran out to see Madison. Madison asked Abby if she liked the game, the man who took her said she would. Abby asked who took her? Madison said “the sheriff!” Meanwhile Shane was still inside with Mrs. Wellington, who was asleep in a chair. He went to wake her to tell her Madison was here. Then he saw blood pouring out, someone had stabbed her in the back with garden shears.
My Thoughts
Clearly they are making it look like the Sheriff is now the prime suspect, but he couldn’t have killed his old deputy last week. Did he take Madison though? Probably, only to keep everyone on the island so that he could lure the killer out.
Who is the killer? I still think Booth is a possibility because he was the only one not killed by the killer, and nobody knows where his body is.
I’m also wondering if there isn’t two killers at work here. At this point that might be the only way to explain it, as almost everyone can be accounted for when a murder happened.
Is Lafeyette Alive . . . Or Undead?
Posted by Dustin on 06.13.2009 at 12:54 pm
When “True Blood” ended last season, it looked like Lafeyette had been attacked and left for dead. But is he? The show has been pretty tight lipped about it. Stephen Moyer (Bill) gave an interview to Kristin at E! awhile back and basically said he hoped Lafeyette would be back at some point, but didn’t know. It sounded like he was a goner. However various photos from the “True Blood” season 2 premier party floating around the web have actor Nelsan Ellis in attendance. So what do we think? I have a feeling we will be lead to think he’s dead, only to see him show up near the end of the season as an undead.

So I’ve been mulling over what to say about the “Weeds” season premier. Basically it was good to have it back, but I guess I was expecting a little more.
Nancy’s life was spared by the Mexican mayor/drug lord because she’s pregnant. However he has his second hand man Caesar basically following her like a dog. Andy and the others found out she was pregnant and weren’t too happy. Nancy wants Andy to take Shane to stay with her sister, aka “Bitch Face,” while Silas, Doug and Andy are planning to grow pot in the cover of a national forest.
Celia meanwhile was held by her estranged daughter and her boyfriend, who called everyone they could to try and ransom her off. Nobody would pay for her. The daughter decided to just kill her and sell her organs, but because she had chemo they wouldn’t take that. In the end the daughter’s boyfriend dumped her because she was a mean nasty women, probably setting him up to be Celia’s new love toy for a few episodes.
The Celia stuff was great, the Nancy stuff . . . not so much. Next week Jennifer Jason Leigh joins as Nancy’s sister, so their interaction should be great. I still miss Conrad and Helia, who apparently won’t be back this season either.

Ghost Whisperer To Jump Ahead?
Posted by Dustin on 06.09.2009 at 12:23 pm
Yesterday Ausiello reported that “Ghost Whisperer” might pull a “Desperate Housewives” and jump ahead 5 years or so from the end of last season. Well it seems like it’s true, as a casting call has gone out for a small boy (age 5-8) to play their son.
I guess it does make sense. As Ausiello points out, it would be hard to do a storyline about her son having powers if he was an infant. He could see the dead people, just not talk about them.

Army Wives Season 3 Premier
Posted by Dustin on 06.08.2009 at 12:11 pm
The season three premier mixed some good things with a lot of sad things. Let’s get started with a recap, then some thoughts.
Within the first ten minutes the Holdens had tracked Emmalynn down and brought her back home. Trevor scared her husband to be Logan enough that he realized marrying her was a bad idea. Roland talked to Emmalynn and told Claudia Joy he feels she never really grieved for Amanda, and this was a desperate attempt to regain control of her life. By the end of the hour Claudia Joy and Michael came to an agreement. He would go to Brussels and she would stay here until Emmalynn could finish the school year.
Roxy and Trevor’s money problems mounted as she drove the car with the engine light on, frying it. She also talked to a lawyer about her deed from Betty for the bar. Trevor felt it was a fight they couldn’t take on, she should take whatever the guy was offering to give her and sell out at this point. Roxie remained suspicious of the guy, and so was Pam. Pam ended up calling in some favors to an old police buddy. As it turned out, the guy wasn’t Betty’s nephew at all, but a con man. He worked as an orderly in the hospice Betty was at and found out about the bar and Roxie that way. He was arrested at the end of the show.
Denise was called into work over the Mac situation and promptly fired. Her boss then told her off as she served with Frank and found her actions deplorable. Later Denise met with Mac, who dumped her to go back to his ex! Over in Iraq, Frank talked to Jeremy. It turns out he didn’t sleep with that woman, he couldn’t do it. They just talked all night. He told Jeremy the truth, that he and his mom had separated. Later Frank heard about Denise’s situation through friends. He was upset and volunteered to lead a dangerous mission. Back at home, Denise tried to talk to Claudia Joy at the end of the show, but Michael had just left and Claudia Joy said it wasn’t a good time, and slammed the door in her face!
My Thoughts
First up, I HATED the resolve to the Denise storyline. Not only did she get fired, but then the guy she risked it all for dumps her to go back to his ex? Then we learn Frank didn’t sleep with that girl after all. Why are they trying to make me like Frank? Frank I guess will get hurt after all and it will bring him and Denise closer maybe? But from the promos he seemed fine when he came home. Will it be Jeremy who is hurt then as I thought? That might bring them closer too.
I also don’t like that Michael went to Brussels without the family. Clearly they all couldn’t go, as it would write a huge family off. But I like Michael and I really don’t like the idea of Evan running the base at all.
Claudia Joy and Denise clearly are going to be at odds this season based on the end of the show. Ouch!
I started guessing Betty’s nephew wasn’t the nephew pretty quickly in, and thought he’d end up being a hospice nurse or something. Loved that he got busted and I still expect Pam to want to go back to police work. But I doubt she will. She wouldn’t probably because of Chase’s job. She wouldn’t want two parents working a dangerous line of work.
Harper’s Island: Someone Cut The Power!
Posted by Dustin on 06.07.2009 at 12:29 pm
Yet another great episode. I’ll be sad to see this show end. First up a recap, followed by my thoughts.
With JD in jail, everyone was planning to flee the island. However Trish’s sister realized her daughter Madison was gone. Richard was also missing, and she suspected he had kidnapped her.
JD told the sheriff he was innocent, and where he could find his old deputy Cole who could vouch for him. The sheriff left to see him. Once gone, someone came in, cut the power at the jail and shot the deputy. JD grabbed the keys and escaped, but left the other prisoner Shane in his cell.
While hunting for Madison, Abby, Trish and Henry found Richard speared to a tree. Meanwhile some of the others found what was left of Malcolm in the furnace. Abby then got a call from Madison, saying if anyone left the island then she would die.
The sheriff, meanwhile, fell into one of Cole’s traps and his leg was wounded. Cole took him back to his cabin. He told the sheriff JD was innocent, he was helping him try and catch this killer. He says if it’s not Wakefield, it’s someone doing a damn good job imitating him. He had just come back to the island, but said it was Abby who was the trigger. He told the sheriff he was pretty dumb if he didn’t see what this was about. He tossed him some journal which the sheriff looked at, we don’t know what was in it. Cole realized he had to go get help or the sheriff would lose his leg. As he left, someone shot him with an arrow and set him and the cabin on fire!
Back at the Wellington place, Sully was trying to convince everyone they should leave. Madison’s mom said they couldn’t. Suddenly the power went out. Abby’s boyfriend showed up, he said the boats left already. Sully said that at this point, the staff and others had left, so they should go too. Abby wanted to find her dad, so she and her boyfriend went to the station. There they found the dead deputy and Shane told them what happened and where the sheriff went.
Abby and her boyfriend found the sheriff and saved him from the cabin. He told Abby to get the journal Cole had on him, it was important. He then said she had to get off this island and asked the guy to use his boat to take her off. They headed to the marina.
Sully and everyone else headed to the marina to try and steal someone’s boat. Cal however wouldn’t leave, he couldn’t with Madison still there, it wasn’t right. He told his girlfriend to stay with him too. Sully was determined to leave with or without them. They all suddenly saw JD running by.
Abby arrived and gun in hand scouted around. She ended up finding a bloody and dying JD. She asked who did this to him? He told her this was all about her, everything was about her. Abby turned around to see Henry standing there covered in blood!
My Thoughts
So the way it ended made Henry look like a suspect, but I don’t think he is. He probably found his brother and tried to chase after the killer or something. He was also shown in promos for next week with others, so I’m guessing they’ll explain it along the lines of my guess.
Cal not wanting to leave and trying to convince the others to stay was pretty suspicious I must say!
I still think something is up with Booth and there is a reason his body hasn’t been seen or found.
What’s in the journal about Abby? Again I think they are hinting that Abby is Wakefield’s daughter. Cole told the Sheriff that he worked with him for so many years, how could he be so blind and not see “this.”
What if Abby’s boyfriend is the killer? Cliche, but it might fit that it’s about her.
Anyways, the show still airs it’s original day Thursdays in Canada. So I beg our Canadian friends, please please no major spoilers 🙂 Especially when we get near the end, I know I don’t want to know who the killer is ahead of time before it’s revealed on air!
Army Wives: Season 4 Spoiler Bits
Posted by Dustin on 06.05.2009 at 2:13 pm
“Army Wives” returns this Sunday, June 7th. I expect Lifetime will be doing a marathon over the weekend to catch people up. Here is a quick recap of where we left off, followed by some spoilers for Season 4.
Denise had an affair with Mac (the amputee) while Frank slept with some woman over in Iraq. Jeremy hadn’t been told about the separation, and saw his dad and the woman the next morning.
Pamela got fired from her radio job and replaced with Evan’s witchy wife.
Joan got the news she was to be sent back to Iraq.
Roxy found out Betty’s nephew was going to take the bar from her, she could accept a measly buy out or try and fight him.
The Holdens were set to move to Germany (or wherever) when Emmalynn ran off with her army boyfriend to elope.
Season 4 Spoiler Bits:
The Holdens are still around, as we’ll see the drama with Emmalynn apparently wrap up in the first 2 episodes of the season.
Denise gets fired from the hospital for sleeping with Mac. She learns Frank may be injured over in Iraq (I bet it’s Jeremy though).
Roxy and Trevor fight for the Hump Bar, it looks like they win the fight as well.
Pamela takes a job coaching her son’s pee-wee football team.
Joan and Roland plan to have their daughter christened before she has to return to Iraq (something tells me she’s not going though).
