Thoughts On Betty: Christina Exits Stage Left

Thoughts On Betty: Christina Exits Stage Left

So in the two shows that we’ve had since “Betty’s” return . . . I don’t know. I’ve enjoyed them, but they’ve been a little slow. Last week’s show was almost entirely about Daniel making a fool of himself at Matt’s father’s charity Easter egg hunt in order to get funding for Mode. Matt’s father did finally agree to meet with Daniel and discuss.

This week’s episode was basically about Christina’s departure from the show. Christina and Stewart suspected Willy lied about the DNA test in the last episode, which she did. They kidnapped the baby and Betty got pulled into it. Willy was going to let them rot in jail, but in the end told the truth . . . kinda. She claimed their was a mistake in the DNA test which she discovered and she knew she had to come forward with it. Christina and Stuart planned to return to Scottland with their son.

Willy was facing certain doom, but pulled a fast one on Daniel and Claire. She got to Matt’s father and made him see how it was best to keep her on at Mode than make an enemy of her. He agreed to be a silent partner and fund Mode, as long as Willy retained her stake in the company.

What what what! So she keeps her shares? I don’t think so! Maybe let her stay on in her job, but the company shares? Grrrrr! Willy always wins.

We also learned Claire and Matt’s father are long time friends. Yeah, something is going on there. I still think Daniel will end up his son via and affair or something.

In other news, Ralph Machio’s character of Archie was back and running for president of their Queens borough. I just love his character and really hope he’s added as a full cast member next season!

Grey’s Anatomy: Izzie And Alex Say “I Do.”

Grey’s Anatomy: Izzie And Alex Say “I Do.”

Posted by Dustin on 05.08.2009 at 12:23 am

So this week’s episode was the 100th episode and the wedding day of Meredith and Derek . . . so yeah we were expecting someone else to get married. Given Izzie planned it and the comments throughout the episode from her were about how it was the perfect wedding for two people who didn’t even like weddings. . . we knew where it was going.

Dead Denny returned, which Izzie knew meant only one thing . . . a tumor. However Derek and Baily couldn’t find it in any CT scans. They ended up finding it though by hooking her up to some kind of an EKG machine and waited for Denny to appear as a hallucination, that told them where the tumor was.

Derek gave Meredith a solo surgery for her wedding present. Unfortunately The Chief stood over her shoulder the whole time commenting. In the end though, he said her mother would have been very proud of her, though she probably wouldn’t have told her so.

A car full of college kids involved in a car crash were brought in. They were on their way to graduation. One by one they all died except for one, who was to be the valedictorian. George felt he was in over his head, everyone was dying around him. Hunt however said they save the ones they can, and trauma is a team sport basically, not an individualistic one. Christina was working with the kids too and learned something from one of them . . . sometimes you love someone you shouldn’t and you know it can’t work out, but you still love them. One of the kids was trying to break up with his girlfriend as he was facing going back home after graduation as he didn’t have the money to stay. As hard as he tried to stay away from her though, he couldn’t.

Arizona wondered what was up with Callie lately, had she lost interest in her? Callie basically didn’t have the money to keep up with Arizona, who wanted to go out to eat at fancy restaurants. All Callie wanted was a romantic night in, just the two of them. In the end they had pizza at home, with a side of sex.

Finally Derek and Baily realized there might be nothing they could do for Izzie. Baily knew something they could do. Meredith and Derek gave their wedding to Izzie and Alex.

My Thoughts
Izzie and George have been great in all these later episodes, which will make saying goodbye to them really hard if they do decide to leave.

Most people guessed that Alex and Izzie would get married, and well everyone was right! Meredith and Derek gave up their big wedding for them, though it wasn’t really their idea of a wedding. I do hope we get to see them say “I do” before the end of the season.

The previews for next week’s 2 hour season finale are what have me thinking. It seems they find a way to save Izzie, but there is a good chance it will erase her memory. Izzie says in the previews “Either way I’m dead.” I can totally see them saving Izzie, but leaving us hanging with her waking up and we won’t know if she is or isn’t Izzie. That gives them the summer to decide if they keep her around next year.

Sent Home On DWTS & Idol This Week

Sent Home On DWTS & Idol This Week

On “Dancing” it came down to Ty and Little Kim. In a shocking elimination, it was Little Kim who went home! I really thought she’d be a contender for the finals.

On “Idol” they wouldn’t reveal who was in the bottom this week, only that it was Allison who was sent home. I think we’ve know for awhile it was going to come down to Danny and Adam in the finale, and Danny is going to win this thing.

Brothers & Sisters: Holly Goes Down, Kinda

Brothers & Sisters: Holly Goes Down, Kinda

Posted by Dustin on 05.05.2009 at 9:36 pm

So first up, I went into this show for some reason thinking it was the season finale. Nope, next week is. Anyway, in this show a lot went down, including Holly. Woohoo!

Kitty and Robert remained at odds over Alec. Kitty was avoiding Alec’s calls, while Robert basically met with him and warned him he was a powerful man and would do what was needed to protect his marriage. Kitty arranged for a welcome back to work party for Robert, but he was cold and distant.

Kevin talked with Kitty about what was going on. She wasn’t sure what she wanted anymore. She talked about how Robert has never fully committed to her or this family, and she doesn’t want to end up becoming mom. Kevin pointed out if she had an affair, she’d be more like dad! Later Kevin talked to Robert saying he hoped they could work this out, as if they didn’t, he would have to take sides.

In the end, after a lot of self reflecting, after remembering a visit from her dad when he constantly ignored and blew off calls from someone who was clearly Ryan’s mom . . . Kitty broke it off with Alec. She realized she was taking after her father and she didn’t want to. However she also felt she and Robert were lost and suggested they separate.

Justin called Rebecca when he got an envelope from Santa Barbara about his application. She opened it and he got in. They kissed, then they made love. Justin ended up proposing to her and she said yes. She then remembered she just agreed to go to the Ojai party with Ryan, just as friends. Justin told her to break it off, but she said Ryan was in a bad place. She told him about how he thinks his mom killed himself over his father.

At the party, Holly came up with the idea for her and Sarah to perform a duet and poke fun at one another, to ease tensions in the workplace. However Sarah overheard a confrontation between Ryan and Justin over Rebecca. Justin said Rebecca told him everything, including how he went to Holly to get on board at Ojai so he could side with her against Sarah. Ryan said Holly came to him. Sarah was fuming mad and sabotaged their duet.

Sarah confronted Holly later, not realizing she was still mic’d and everyone heard them arguing. Ryan confronted them all and told them to just stay away from him, all of them, and that he’d be leaving. Justin told the family that Ryan thinks his mom killed herself because of dad. Kitty began remembering more of her father’s visit and that he was always blowing off someone named Connie who he planned to deal with. It was Ryan’s mom.

Kitty went to see Ryan and told him about her dad, that she thinks he might be right, that her dad broke things off with her mom and hurt her. Ryan thanked her for telling him. The next day Holly groveled to Sarah, and they both found out that Ryan did in fact come into work that morning. Sarah, realizing she was in fact lonely (her ex was remarrying his first wife) actually took Holly’s advice and put herself out on internet dating.

The show ended with Robert providing Nora with Tommy’s whereabouts. She ended up taking a bus to Mexico and getting out right in front of some church in a little old village!

My Thoughts
First up, we could only have been so lucky that Ryan would have left. Alas he didn’t. I’m sorry but I am not feeling Ryan and I would not shed a tear if he did leave and wasn’t around next season. Next week the spoilers say Saul reveals something big about Ryan’s mom, hopefully big enough to make Ryan go away!

I was proud of Kitty for making the decision to not get involved with Alec after all. However RObert was not happy about the separation idea, and next week it seems he is in some rage over it and seeking custody of Evan. Oh Robert, you had a chance to win me back over to your side and I think you’re going to screw it up! I would not be surprised to see Kitty ending up in bed with Alec at the end of next week.

I was so glad Holly got exposed before she could cause any damage with her plan, but her downfall wasn’t as glorious as I would have liked it to be.

Sarah I felt so bad for in this episode. Wow is Joe a louse or what?

Finally Nora ended up in Mexico where Tommy was. It seems Tommy found God and maybe joined a church? Hey maybe if Tommy signed a contract to become a priest they can bring him back home and ship Ryan off instead!

Desperate Housewives: Getting Married, Getting Divorced

Desperate Housewives: Getting Married, Getting Divorced

Posted by Dustin on 05.04.2009 at 9:07 pm

So this week’s “Housewives” for the most part was about the state of many marriages on the block.

Bree was looking into divorcing Orson, only to find out that under California law he is entitled to half of her business, since she started it while they were married. Seeking to protect her business, she went to Carl for help, knowing he’d be underhanded and sneaky. Carl needed something from her in return. It seems his devil child Adam was not invited to MJ’s birthday/sleepover party, and he wanted Bree to make it happen.

Mike and Katherine were allowing MJ to have a sleepover party for his birthday. MJ, over breakfast, began question his dad if he and Katherine were going to get married. It made Mike uncomfortable, but Katherine was eager to hear his answer. Later Mike broke it to her that while he loved her, he thought he would never marry again. She was later honest with him saying that while they may act and think they are a family here, really they aren’t.

Dave invited Susan and MJ out on a friend’s boat for a fishing trip to thank her, but really he was planning to kill MJ. He had an old story about a child dying tragically during a fishing trip on the lake. Later the cops investigating the fire at the club and his psychiatrists death came to see him. He claimed he had only falsely ID’s Porter, but he didn’t see anything else. They said Jackson was locked in a back bathroom, did he know anything about that? He claimed he didn’t, and lucky for him Jackson seemed to be missing at the moment.

Unfortunately for Dave, in more ways than one, Jackson returned in this episode! Jackson asked Susan to have dinner with him, which they did at her house. He shocked her with a proposal, and she burst into tears. She went on about how she’s tried to be strong, but she’s lonely and she misses him and she really loves him. This made Jackson feel guilty, as Susan didn’t let him finish. He wanted to marry her because he was being deported to Canada as his old student visa was expiring! She was furious, but in the end agreed to marry him. This put a damper in Dave’s plans. One, he was shocked to see Jackson back, as he could get him into trouble with the fire. Two, Susan couldn’t go on Dave’s trip because she was marrying Jackson that weekend.

Gabby was furious when Juanita went to school in make-up. Juanita claimed some of the girls at school said they didn’t look alike and that she must be adopted. Gabby tried to convince her she didn’t need make-up to be pretty. Carlos, who was being given an award for Latino Businessman of the Year, suggested Gabby not wear make-up to the award dinner to prove the point to Juanita. She agreed, but when the photographers wanted a family photo, she scrambled to find make-up. She had to have a talk with Juanita later, telling her that she wanted her daughter to learn beauty and self-worth came from inside, and to worry about being a kid and making friends. Gabby said she was a model at a very young age, she missed out on a lot, she didn’t want that for Juanita. She told her when she realized she didn’t need to wear make-up, that was when she was old enough to wear it.

Finally Tom read some book which said he and Lynette should have sex every day for a month to improve their relationship. Of course Lynette’s job and hours caused problems. In the end, Lynette didn’t understand what was going on with Tom. He told her that lately he realizes the only thing in life he’s really passionate about is her, and that is a problem.

My Thoughts
So first, I think this was the first time I’ve ever actually felt sorry for Juanita. Usually I just think she’s an evil little child 🙂

Speaking of evil children, Adam made his return this week. There are spoilers that Bree might end up sleeping with Carl. Oh if they hooked up, Bree having to deal with that child could be funny. She needs to take him for an exorcism!

Speaking of Bree’s predicament with Orson, I hope she finds a way to leave him and save her business. Honestly, I’m hoping Dave accidentally kills Orson. Orson is one character whose time is up I believe. I’ve loathed him most of this season and I don’t see that changing.

Dave meanwhile is one sick puppy and I hope someone catches him before he does something bad to MJ!

Someone else I keep getting annoyed with is Katherine. Yet again we had to see her being all clingy with Mike. She basically used MJ to pressure Mike into answering the marriage question. What a piece of work!

Posted by Dustin on 05.04.2009 at 12:06 pm

NBC has unveiled their fall line-up, with a slew of new shows.

“Chuck” fans will note that the show is nowhere to be found. This doesn’t not mean it’s canceled yet, but may be picked up as a mid-season show. “Medium” is also not on the list as for the past several years it has been a mid-season show. Given that “Medium” has been a solid performer for NBC it’s expected to return. Additional shows and pick-ups are to be announced by May 19th by NBC.

Peter Krause fans will be happy to see he’s scored a new show “Parenthood,” which is based on the classic movie of the same name. Ironically the movie had already been turned into a sitcom in the 80s, but it didn’t last.

NBC unveiled pickups for the upcoming broadcast season in the first of a series of presentations today and tomorrow to key advertisers from Studio 8H—the home of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live”—at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. Presentations will continue in Chicago on May 7 and Los Angeles on May 12.

“We are thrilled to be announcing such an awesome slate of new series that build on our existing quality brand and deliver emotional, human stories,” said Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. “NBC will strive to make viewers feel and our shows represent the full range of human emotion from laughter to tears. Ghost Whisperer: The House That Voodoo Built

Ghost Whisperer: The House That Voodoo Built

Posted by Dustin on 05.03.2009 at 3:42 pm

I’m not going to spend a lot of time on this latest episode of “Ghost Whisperer,” mainly because it just didn’t seem to make sense at all.

The main ghost story was a little girl who had a haunted doll house. The dollhouse was a model of her aunt/uncle/cousins’ house. The mother had it made as a gift for her niece, who lived with them. The niece’s family all tragically died in the house, carbon monoxide apparently, and she survived as she wasn’t home that night. The family was haunting the dollhouse, actually they were trapped in their. The aunt had cast some voodoo spell on it, shed blood, even wrapped bits of hair around furniture in the house. The family was convinced the aunt killed them over money, as the parents cut her out of their estate. They thought she would kill the surviving child next to get to the money transferred to her.

Basically it was a mix-up, the aunt was estranged from her brother and his family. She saw her niece out drunk one night, but it had been so long since she saw her, that she wasn’t sure. She went to their home and looked in the windows, everyone appeared asleep. The niece however had used the old pillows under the cover trick for her bed. The family though was dead at that point, ghosts. They saw the aunt peering in all the windows and were convinced she was checking on them to make sure they were dead.

The aunt claimed she loved her family, she loved her niece, she’d never hurt them. She thought the ghosts were coming after her or something, and that she was trying to protect her and her daughter from them. In the end though, there was no satisfactory explanation for any of the supposed spells the aunt was doing, why she felt the need to trap the ghosts in a doll house, etc . . .

Melinda finally told Dehlia about the baby, and at the end of the show Jim proposed to Melinda.
