Brothers and Sisters: Bored In Mexico
So this past Sunday was the season finale of “Brothers and Sisters,” and I have to say I was pretty let down. There were no cliff hangers, no real shockers of any kind. I guess in one way it’s nice to have a happy-ish end so we don’t suffer for months waiting to find out what happens. On the other hand, I did expect a little more.
The Walkers all ended up going down to Mexico to find Tommy. Before going, Rebecca and Justin told Holly and David they were engaged. Holly was less than thrilled, which upset Rebecca. Holly later told David that Rebecca basically has a problem with men, it’s like she becomes obsessed with a man and very clingy and attached. She apparently followed her high school history teacher out to Chicago after having an affair with him when she was 16.
Sarah, not wanting to just fire Ryan and leave him with nothing, had a severance package made up. She asked Saul to give it to Ryan. He did, but when Ryan asked if he thought he should sign it . . . Saul told him no! Saul went to Holly and told her the truth, that William had sent him to break up with Ryan’s mom. He did it, and was completely unfeeling about it as well. He feels guilty. He asked Holly if he could return to Ojai to keep an eye on Ryan, he felt he owed him that. Holly said Saul would owe her!
The Walkers all went down to Mexico, where Tommy was living in some spiritual commune and working on projects to help a poor town. Everyone was all understanding and accepting of Tommy, trying not to be judgmental. Kevin however wouldn’t be, he told Tommy he screwed up big time and he for one didn’t need him coming back home, he was tired of the family rescuing him everytime he failed. Tommy told his family that Kevin was right, he screwed up and now he has to fix it. He was staying in Mexico for now, being here, doing what he was doing, he needed to do it. He hoped he would heal in time and return home.
Robert flew down to Mexico to basically tell Kitty if she really wanted a separation then she would get it. She could move out, they’d work out a custody arrangement. He went to leave and Kitty finally realized that wasn’t what she wanted. She tried to stop him, but he didn’t hear her and flew off.
Justin proposed to Rebecca in front of his whole family. She was having issues as it seemed like he didn’t want to tell his family about them. Justin just didn’t think this was the right time with Tommy and all. She went a bit psycho trying to convince Justin to elope while in Mexico, but he wanted them to marry in front of their families.
The Walkers were thrilled by the proposal, and the news that Justin got into med school. They all returned home, minus Tommy of course.
Again, it was a very tame finale. Holly irked me telling Saul that he’d “owe” her for letting him return to Ojai. Meanwhile Rebecca clearly has some issues about men, which probably don’t bode well with her future with Justin. He’s already gone one addiction problem, he doesn’t need Rebecca turning psycho on him.
Can I just say that I hate Tommy! But more than I hate Tommy, I hate his mom! I missed the first 30 minutes (stupid DVR!) But from what I understood, his mom was willing to welcome him back with open arms. Whatever. The asshole left his wife and kids and was willing to let the house that they live in be foreclosed on! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I would have cut him off so fast it wouldn’t be funny. HE would have to crawl his way back into my life. I would not go looking for him to talk him into coming back. Pluuu- ease! I hope like hell I don’t raise my own kids to become so freakin’ selfish that they can sleep at night should they do ANYTHING like what he did. It’s crap and I think Nora is Queen of Crap for chasing after him. I say, good BYE! Asshole.

That is her son. Typically, mothers would do anything for their children–even when they mess up. However, I totally get where you are coming from.
