Grey’s Anatomy: Izzie And Alex Say “I Do.”
So this week’s episode was the 100th episode and the wedding day of Meredith and Derek . . . so yeah we were expecting someone else to get married. Given Izzie planned it and the comments throughout the episode from her were about how it was the perfect wedding for two people who didn’t even like weddings. . . we knew where it was going.
Dead Denny returned, which Izzie knew meant only one thing . . . a tumor. However Derek and Baily couldn’t find it in any CT scans. They ended up finding it though by hooking her up to some kind of an EKG machine and waited for Denny to appear as a hallucination, that told them where the tumor was.
Derek gave Meredith a solo surgery for her wedding present. Unfortunately The Chief stood over her shoulder the whole time commenting. In the end though, he said her mother would have been very proud of her, though she probably wouldn’t have told her so.
A car full of college kids involved in a car crash were brought in. They were on their way to graduation. One by one they all died except for one, who was to be the valedictorian. George felt he was in over his head, everyone was dying around him. Hunt however said they save the ones they can, and trauma is a team sport basically, not an individualistic one. Christina was working with the kids too and learned something from one of them . . . sometimes you love someone you shouldn’t and you know it can’t work out, but you still love them. One of the kids was trying to break up with his girlfriend as he was facing going back home after graduation as he didn’t have the money to stay. As hard as he tried to stay away from her though, he couldn’t.
Arizona wondered what was up with Callie lately, had she lost interest in her? Callie basically didn’t have the money to keep up with Arizona, who wanted to go out to eat at fancy restaurants. All Callie wanted was a romantic night in, just the two of them. In the end they had pizza at home, with a side of sex.
Finally Derek and Baily realized there might be nothing they could do for Izzie. Baily knew something they could do. Meredith and Derek gave their wedding to Izzie and Alex.
My Thoughts
Izzie and George have been great in all these later episodes, which will make saying goodbye to them really hard if they do decide to leave.
Most people guessed that Alex and Izzie would get married, and well everyone was right! Meredith and Derek gave up their big wedding for them, though it wasn’t really their idea of a wedding. I do hope we get to see them say “I do” before the end of the season.
The previews for next week’s 2 hour season finale are what have me thinking. It seems they find a way to save Izzie, but there is a good chance it will erase her memory. Izzie says in the previews “Either way I’m dead.” I can totally see them saving Izzie, but leaving us hanging with her waking up and we won’t know if she is or isn’t Izzie. That gives them the summer to decide if they keep her around next year.
I totally bawled during the end of this episode. I hate what they might to do Izzie. Killing her or her memory loss. It took her and Alex so long to get here. And for alex to finally commit and get hurt again!? First his mom, then Ava/Rebecca and now Iz? sad.

I actually started hating Izzie less this episode. I think I hate it when actors bad talk the shows that made them. I’ve wanted George and Izzie out since the actors started complaining. But the actress who plays Izzie did recant and say she wanted to stay. Plus I like it when Alex is happy. Where do they get off calling Derick McDreamy with ALEX walking around?!?!

why was yang banging on the fan at the end

Owen said the fan above her bed was the trigger for him, it reminded him of the blades of a helicopter, that is what set him off when he strangled her.

i too cried at the end of the episode. especially when george stood up and took izzie down the aisle!! it was a great episode minus all the kids dying. i hope next season shonda finds another generation to kill off!
as much as i often dislike yang, what she learned about the fan and then tried to take it down at the end was great. maybe she is finally getting over herself??

I wonder if they are bringing back that crazy virus treatment that Mere and Derick used earlier to try to help save Izzie.
