Did The Idol Judges Just Shoot Themselves In The Foot?

Did The Idol Judges Just Shoot Themselves In The Foot?

Posted by Dustin on 04.15.2009 at 11:40 pm

So tonight on “American Idol” the Judge’s Save was finally used to save Matt Girard, who would have gone home. They had this week and next to use it, once to the top five though it was gone.

Did they make a wise decision? Using the save means TWO go next week, and they can’t save someone if they wanted to now.

The past few weeks Matt, Lil and Anoop have been looking like they could go at any moment. My guess is they figured they would be the next three out, that they’ve already figured Adam and Danny are final three. I think it’s between Allison and Kris right now for that last spot. I think the judges are betting on that as well with the save.

Next week is Disco week. Two will go home. People can mock disco all they want, those songs are not easy to sing by a long shot. Some will excel, some will fail. I think a lot will fail.

My opinions? First I’m biased in a big way, I adore disco. Yes, I said it!

Adam is clearly going to excel next week. His falsetto would make a BeeGees song an obvious choice. However with the 70s, he could easily go for a Glam Rock song and make a killing too. Adam + Gary Glitter = Win. Personally I want to see him do Sylvester “You Make Me Feel” or “Xanadu!”

Allison should excel, if she makes the right choice. I could see her falling for the Blondie “Heart of Glass” curse. STAY AWAY from that song Allison, it’s not easy to do! She needs to do “Knock on Wood” or “I Love The Nightlife.”

This is where the save is going to kick them in the butt. Lil Rounds, who has been horrendous these last few weeks, stands to make the biggest comeback next week. She needs to pick her song carefully. She needs to stay away from Gloria Gaynor and Patti Labelle, she can’t live up to either one, period. Thelma Houston’s “Don’t Leave Me This Way” she could go 50/50 with. It’s like a Whitney Houston of Disco song really, you do well or you shouldn’t have tried. She could probably do well with Sister Sledge or Dianna Ross’ “Upside Down.”

Matt, Kris, Anoop and yes even golden boy Danny . . . they are going to suffer next week. Anoop might be able to pull of a Andi Gibb ballad, maybe. Kris and Matt, I don’t know what the hell they will do. Danny . . . I just feel like he’s going to try Disco Inferno and burn burn burn!

Leave your thoughts on song choices for the contestants and who you think will rock it and who will flunk out of disco school.

Heroes: 1961

Heroes: 1961

So this week’s episode of “Heroes” was the one I was looking forward to, the back story of Angela. Sadly I felt while interesting, just a little sloooow.

Angela gathered her family and some of the other heroes (Surresh) and friends (Noah) to tell them her story. They gathered at what was basically a concentration camp for people with abilities out in the desert of Texas. She told them the story, as it seemed the past was repeating itself. Claire learned that her dad was working with Angela all along to try and thwart Nathan and The Hunter’s plan, but they had failed.

Angela and her sister Alice were sent to the camp as teens. They both had powers, Alice’s was controlling the weather. They were sent to this camp under the guise that they were going to be helped, but Angela began having dreams. She found out the truth, the government was conducting experiments on them, experiments that would kill them off one by one.

Angela made friends and warned them, saying they had to do something. The friends she met and made were the future founders of the company. Surresh’s father was a young scientist working at the camp, which set Surresh off. He felt his father was a murderer and a madman, but others told him his father probably had no idea what the government’s real agenda was.

Angela told them the story so they all understood, that they couldn’t let history repeat itself. She had believed her sister Alice had died at the camp, but she hadn’t. Alice was alive still, living at the camp, and pretty crazed. Alice was about to kill Peter at one point until Angela intervened, telling her this was her family. Alice ended up fleeing in a tornado she created, which you know means trouble in the future.

As they all pondered how to basically put their secret back in the box, on the TV came Nathan speaking to the nation. Yup, Sylar had morphed into Nathan to address the nation about the threat of the “heroes.”

I think that is in a nutshell what happened. I liked the episode, it was interesting, but I felt I wanted a bit more. Angela’s sister definitely looks to be trouble though!

True Blood: Season 2 Spoilerbits

True Blood: Season 2 Spoilerbits

Kristin at E! has some interview scoops with the stars and people behind “True Blood.” It’s a look at season 2!

It looks like Eric sends Sookie to Dallas Texas for a bit to deal with some Vampires there. It seems Eric’s maker is MIA and they have to find him/her. (There are rumors Eric takes a real liking to Sookie this season!)

More and different supernatural creatures come to Bon Temps. Last season ended with the introduction of the shapeshifters.

Jason of course is messed up with the Church of the New Sun this season (or whatever it is called). It also looks like Jason, from pictures, gets messed up with the Church leaders wife!

Bill gets sucked into the drama involving the girl he made last season, the annoying bratty one. Looks like he ends up having to babysit her a lot.

The Queen of the Vampires is also reported to make an appearance this season.

90210 Season Finale Spoilers

90210 Season Finale Spoilers

Posted by Dustin on 04.12.2009 at 7:49 pm

I posted a link awhile back with tons of spoilers, one of which was a death at the prom (I think) and then a funeral to say goodbye. (At the time I also wondered how they were leaked so far in advance – the death spoilers are now gone from that site it seems!)

With Dustin Milligan (Ethan) leaving, many assume he is dying. Kristin and E! posted an interview with the executive producer who states it is NOT Ethan who is dying. (Earlier indications said Ethan would be written off at the beginning of next season, with an open-ended exit).

The interview has some interesting spoilers. It looks like Silver goes away for a bit, but it sounds like she also returns at some point. Brenda (Shannan Daugherty) returns for the final episodes, and we learn about Naomi’s older sister.

We still don’t know who dies, only that it’s not Ethan. Who is your guess? I’m worried it could be Adrianna, who goes into labor at the prom. That would leave Brenda to adopt the child.

Ghost Whisperer: The Black Widow

Ghost Whisperer: The Black Widow

Posted by Dustin on 04.11.2009 at 8:21 pm

So “Ghost Whisperer” finally returned this week, and it was the hyped Hillary Duff episode to boot. However I felt after the hype, well it fell flat.

Hillary played a black widow who preyed on men with terminal illnesses. She found them at cancer support groups, herself pretending to have the disease. However she didn’t, and her last husband was haunting her. He thought she was giving up on treatments and was trying to get her to pursue therapy, not realizing she wasn’t sick. He eventually found out thanks to Melinda, and he was pissed! But it turned out Hillary’s character had fallen for him, and she started down this road after both her parents died. She was redeemed and the ghost went into the life.

I don’t know, I was just bored. I expected much more from an episode that Hillary was guesting on honestly.

Also going on, Jim/Sam was feeling drawn to his old life, but he was rousing suspicions. As it turned out, he found out Sam had the prerequisites he needs to apply to med school. Jim would have had to spend a year taking coursework before he could apply. So he decided to use Sam’s transcripts and apply to med school now.

Here I kinda felt like Jim was cheating. I was shocked he would do something like that, as it could really come back to bite him in the arse later on!
