Ghost Whisperer: The Soap Episode

Ghost Whisperer: The Soap Episode

Posted by Dustin on 04.26.2009 at 7:50 pm

Okay so this week’s “Ghost Whisperer . . . ” Meh! I felt like it was done more as a showcase for the soap actor’s CBS pulled in for this episode than anything really. It was good to see Kelly Martin on my TV again though.

Basically this soap came to Grandview to film a very special episode, in which the main character was being killed off, yet again. He wanted to go, but there was drama of course. The main heart throb (Grant I think his name was) and the writer (Kelly Martin) went to college in Grandview. Kelly’s character wrote a play in which Grant, another guy and girl were all in. The girl was supposed to shoot some angry lover to run off with Grant’s character. An accident happen, the gun shot a wad out and killed the one guy.

Well the girl who shot him accidentally, she was dating Grant, but they broke up and he started dating Kelly. She became a professor at Rockland, while Kelly left to write a soap and took Grant with her. It turned out Kelly was a conniver, and everything could kinda be traced back to her in this episode.

Some producers wanted to take the play to New York. She was realizing Grant was going to leave her and go back to the other girl, so she lied and said the producers didn’t want him and wanted the other guy to play his part. The other guy had a bad habit of pushing things to get the best reaction, so he over-loaded the prop gun for a better effect, accidentally killing himself. He only wanted to see if he could make sure Grant’s job was saved.

Kelly went to LA and took Grant with her, writing a whole soap for him. However he wanted out again, and she found out his old girlfriend got him a job at Rockland University. Kelly took control again, trying to write out the death scene they were filming, claiming the network changed their mind about letting him go. The dead guy returned basically to haunt them all and set things right, to let Grant do what he wanted with his life and make Kelly realize she was talented enough to make it on her own.

It was a good episode, but there was nothing going on with Jim and Melinda until the very end. She hurt her wrist or something and had to go to the ER, only to find out she was 8 weeks pregnant . . . so it’s Jim’s baby (ie not Sam’s). Well I guess that means she and Sam/Jim have done the awkward deed 🙂 I want a scene with Dehlia asking Melinda how it is different!

Grey’s and Practice Tweet/Thoughts!

Grey’s and Practice Tweet/Thoughts!

Posted by Dustin on 04.25.2009 at 5:49 pm

Okay it took awhile, but I got through “Private Practice” and “Grey’s.” My internet connection here is pretty crappy, so the streaming video is not playing well for me. I’m simply copying over all my Twitter posts and expanding on them a bit for a quick thoughts post.

Finally got through “Grey’s.” That kid story was de press ing. Seriously, I love Bailey, but I can’t take watching kids die every week!

Glad the McDoctors made up, having to deal with them fighting any longer would have driven me nuts.

George was awesome! I really hope they don’t write him off next season.

Izzie was great in this episode playing the cancer card. Like George, I’d hate to see her go too. I would feel like it was ER all over again with the originals leaving.

So happy they brought the psychiatrist back! I love her, she’s one character I would like them to add on as permanent. These doctors are nuts and need someone to talk to.

Loved Meredith and Lexies interactions. More of this please!

“Private Practice” quick thoughts . . . .

That man so killed his brother for his brother’s wife. Hated that we didn’t get any resolution with that story! Clearly though it was all more of a lesson for Addison about “wrongness.”

Pete of course realizes what and who he wants too late. By time he was going to go talk to Violent, Sheldon was down on his knee proposing. Say no Violet!

Dell is getting on my nerves now. I feel for him, but he doesn’t need to be a nasty jerk to everyone around him.

You know Naomi was going to tell Sam that she still had feelings for him when he cut her off and told her he needed distance and they couldn’t be friends anymore! Uhg!

Is Charlotte being played by that doctor who “owns” her practice? That guy clearly is using Oceanside Wellness (or is it Pacific Care, I never keep the names strait) the practice to get to Naomi. He obviously set it up to put pressure on her practice, hoping she’d jump ship and join him.

Addison, run run away from Noah! I Did not like the previews next week. Her and Noah on the bed/couch better be a fantasy or a dream. Also looks like something will happen to Noah’s wife or the baby.

Conferencing . . .

Conferencing . . .

Posted by Dustin on 04.24.2009 at 7:00 pm

Currently I am at an academic conference. Bad timing with all the shows returning I know! I posted a lot of quick thoughts on Twitter about. “Private Practice”. You can view them in the side bar.

I have still to see “Grey’s” and “Harper’s.” I will get posts up ASAP.

Forgive my grammar and spelling. This was done over an iphone.

Medium: Allison Is Broken!

Medium: Allison Is Broken!

Posted by Dustin on 04.23.2009 at 6:53 am

“Medium” has been crazy good lately! They’ve set up a two part episode for this week, and next week begins some 3 part episode arc, which I believe builds on this current two-parter.

Allison was stalked by a religious fanatic, who felt her powers went against God and his plan for all people, which included them being killed. He set out to stop her. Stings were set up all around Allison and her house to catch the guy, who of course snuck in right passed all the guards as a grocery delivery man. Lee fortunately shot and killed him.

However the guy wasn’t gone! No he began haunting Allison and was manipulating her dreams, making her get all sorts of things wrong. One of these was advising Joe’s boss to buy some stocks, which plummeted big time. As a consequence Joe now has to fire half his staff and hope he still has a job.

Loved this episode, the idea of the guy haunting her and messing up her dreams . . . never saw it coming. Next week is going to rock!

Heroes: I Am Sylar, Or Am I?

Heroes: I Am Sylar, Or Am I?

Posted by Dustin on 04.22.2009 at 7:59 pm

So this week’s episode of “Heroes” was the last before the big finale. It also went back a little in time, basically taking place when the Petrelli Clan was in Texas for the 1961 episode.

The main focus was Sylar, whose shape-shifting ability was driving him nutso. It turned out in becoming all these different people, well it was altering his DNA. He learned all he needed was to touch someone at any point in his life to take them on, so he started becoming his mom and having conversations with her. Paging Norman Bates!

Micah re-entered the mix, hoping to convince Sylar to do some good with his powers, to help the others. It seemed Micah was getting to him, and Sylar allowed Micah not to be caught by Emile Danko/The Hunter. Micah wanted him to use his shape shifting powers to help them, and Sylar remembered his mother telling him he could be president one day . . . uh oh!

Sylar held the conference as Nathan, basically taunting the world and the President with info that would blow them away, demanding the President meet him. You know what he’s planning here, to be the president! Nathan showed up at the end, but so did an angry Emile. Seems Sylar isn’t playing by his rules. Emile captured Nathan, then put a knife in Sylar’s head thinking he’d dealt with him. Guess his aim isn’t so great, Sylar got up . . . pulled it out . . . and said “That hurt!” I don’t know if Emile will be alive much longer honestly!

Matt, with his son, reconnected with Janice in this episode. He had a new outlook on life . . . and Janice !?! Basically he wanted to make a go with her and the kid, but eventually realized it wouldn’t work . . . he had to put an end to Emile or they’d never be safe. Before he could leave, Emile’s men arrived. Matt was doing his best to fend them off.

This is the story that annoyed me to no end honestly. Matt is one of my faves on the show, and I adored him and Daphne. She’s dead though, and is NOT coming back. So he finds out he has a kid with Janice and is ready to just pick up where they left off? Has he forgotten about the affair, the fact he didn’t know if the kid was his (well I think they want us to forget he knew she was pregnant). I’m sorry, no. No no and NO!

Hiro and Ando decided to try and infiltrate Building 26. Ando got captured by Emile’s men, and Hiro disguised himself as one of them to tag along. He let Ando know he’d have to play possum to lead them there. Well something is going wrong with Hiro’s powers lately, when he tried to freeze time, he couldn’t once and his nose started bleeding. The show ended with them being found out, and Ando blasting the van they were in to try and escape.

Meanwhile HRG, driving the Petreli gang, was pulled over and also captured by HRG’s men. So it looks like Micah, Sylar, maybe Matt, maybe Ando and Hiro are the only ones not in custody at this point!

SPOILER AHEAD!

Next week is the finale, and apparently within the first 10 minutes or so, a major season one hero gets killed in a way that it doesn’t look like they return! I don’t know if I like that at all!
