Medium: Bad Alison!

Medium: Bad Alison!

Medium is definitely going to the dark side in these later seasons, but I’m still tuning in. Oddly enough it’s one of the few NBC shows not going down in the ratings for them. Maybe they should give it a full year instead of a half season like they have been.

The main story in this one was about a woman (Blythe Danner) whose daughter went missing. The woman and her husband (a councilmen or something) were friends of the DA’s, so they brought in Devolas, who brought in Alison and Lee. Of course Alison began having dreams. As it turned out the missing daughter was a real piece of work. Long story short, the daughter was a nurse who killed the woman whose daughter (heart transplant list patient) she was taking care of. She married the husband and then started poisoning the kid. The mother (Blythe) found out and killed her! Alison confronted her, she explained she was saving not only the little girl, whom she had come to love, but this way her daughter just disappeared and nobody knew any wiser. Nobody had to know what she was doing, so her reputation was in tact. Alison faced a moral dilemma . . . . and didn’t turn the woman in! This was a huge departure from the norm, when the bad guys got away or Alison couldn’t prove anything. She knew where the body was, in their brand new swimming pool, but she kept her mouth shut in the end. The granddaughter got a happy ending as well, a heart for her was found.

Alison’s hubby Joe apparently developed a case of narcolepsy. He kept falling asleep, he decided based on doctor’s advice to sleep alone to see if not being woken every 2 hours would help. While it seemed to work, he still was falling asleep randomly. This was never really solved, aside from his doctor suggesting he try naps. I have a bad feeling this will come back to haunt Joe at some point, no pun intended. Don’t kill Joe please! Jim on “Ghost Whisperer” is bad enough.

The final story dealt with Lee. Lee and his “secret” relationship with Lynn was in jeopardy. Lynn was knocked up! Clearly put in because the actress was pregnant. However Lee was panicking, be a typical man. He was avoiding talking to her, sneaking out in the morning or coming home late at night. I don’t think they are even living together, and wherever Lee is staying is a rat hole from the looks. Well Devalos was having a party and invited them both, separately. Lynn agreed to go, Lee was on the fence. He felt if they showed up together . . . well what would it say? In the end Lee did show up, at the last minute, and held Lynn’s hand! He apologized for being an ass as well, suggesting they have the talks that he had been ignoring. Aw, LOVE THEM! I hope we get to see a little more of them this season.

DANCING WITH THE STARS” CONTESTANTS JEWEL AND NANCY O’DELL WITHDRAW FROM COMPETITION DUE TO INJURIES

Both Celebrities to Appear on “Dancing with the Stars” Season Premiere, Monday, March 9

Additional Changes to the Cast Will Also Be Announced

Multi-platinum singer/songwriter Jewel and “Access Hollywood” host Nancy O’Dell have withdrawn from Season Eight of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” citing injuries. Jewel was diagnosed with a fractured tibia in both legs, O’Dell a torn meniscus. The injuries were sustained while training for the competition.

Jewel and O’Dell will appear on the season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars,” MONDAY, MARCH 9 (8:00-10:02 p.m., ET) to address their injuries. The women were paired with professional dancers Tony Dovolani and Dmitry Chaplin, respectively. Additional changes to the cast will also be announced during Monday’s premiere.

“Like most sports, dancing can be a demanding, physical activity. Each participant of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ warrants in contract that they are physically fit enough to participate in the competition. We love and appreciate Nancy and Jewel’s competitive spirit, drive and desire to perform their best. Though we share in their disappointment that they can no longer continue, their physical well-being takes precedent above all else. We thank them both for giving it their all and wish them a quick and full recovery,” said Executive Producer Conrad Green.

“When the doctors told me my injuries were so severe that I couldn’t walk, let alone compete, I was devastated that I couldn’t continue the show,” said Jewel. “I have every intention of being at ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this season supporting my husband, Ty, and his partner, Chelsie (Hightower). I hope to be back on the show in the future.”

“Beyond disappointment doesn’t even being to describe how I feel about not being able to continue on ‘Dancing with the Stars,'” said O’Dell. “It has been one of my favorite shows since Season One! But I have torn the meniscus in my knee in two places, which requires surgery. ‘Dancing with the Stars’ was a great experience. I’ll miss working with my partner, Tony Dovolani, and all the other wonderful people on the amazing production that is ‘Dancing with the Stars'”

Twitter Added To The Blog

Twitter Added To The Blog

Posted by Dustin on 03.04.2009 at 2:41 am

I’ve added a Twitter account to/for the blog. It can be found in the side bar, under the shoutbox. There the latest “Tweets” are posted, as well as a link to the Twitter page here where you can follow me.

For those who don’t know, Twitter is a “micro-blogging” service. It allows users to prove a 140 character update of whatever they are doing at any moment. I use it regularly and admit I am addicted ๐Ÿ™‚ I am testing it out for this blog for a bit to see how it goes. Because I’m not only trying to finish school this semester as well as working, I keep falling a few days behind with blogs for shows. I figured If I tweet while I’m watching, it can act as a go between till I get my full blog up.

Again it’s not meant to replace the blogs, just act as a fun in between type thing. For now I’m just testing to see how it goes. Additionally whenever I do post a blog, it will send a tweet out to those following me on twitter notifying you of a new post. Of course you have to have a twitter account to follow (except through the online link, you can read there for free without following).

Ghost Whisperer: Melinda Spills The Beans, Kinda . . .

Ghost Whisperer: Melinda Spills The Beans, Kinda . . .

Posted by Dustin on 03.04.2009 at 1:01 am

So in the latest episode of “Ghost Whisperer” basically a ghost buster came to town. It was a single guy who claimed he could capture ghosts on tape to prove if a house was haunted. It was very “Paranormal Phenomenon” like if you watch any of those shows, which center around using EVPs and the like to get proof of ghosts.

When Sam/Jim saw he was in town helping some people, he flipped and went off, calling the guy a fraud for preying on peoples emotions. He did not believe in ghosts at all. Melinda was about to tell him about her gift when all this came out, giving her second thoughts. Jim never doubted her, Sam/Jim was a complete skeptic.

Sam/Jim knew something was up with Melinda though, and poor Eli ended up telling him she was a profiler for the FBI, but it was a secret. I have to admit I really liked Eli in this episode, usually I find him a bit annoying. I am warming up to him.

The ghost hunter guy ended up being haunted, not by the ghosts he was chasing, but by one following him. He had an ex who he really loved, and she loved him. However her dad thought he was a flake and pressured her to dump him. When the bills piled up and the money wasn’t coming in, ultimately she did. Well the ghost turned out to be her dad, who died, then realized everything the guy believed in and said was true. He was haunting him, trying to help him with his business, at the same time make things right and get him and his daughter back together.

At the end of the episode Melinda told Sam/Jim the truth. Fortunately the explanation they gave for the sudden skepticism was that “Sam,” since his accident, felt the need to hold onto real and solid things. He had no explanation for why what happened happened to him, so he was trying to stay ground in reality. I could accept that. I was seriously afraid they were going to reveal Jim thought Melinda was a quack deep down all along. I would have been pissed!

Next week though it seems Sam/Jim’s patience runs out. Melinda tells him who he really is and he doesn’t seem to buy it or her any more. Poor Melinda!

American Idol: Group 3 Thoughts

American Idol: Group 3 Thoughts

Right out of the gate and the first to perform, Von rocked it, he was really good. I thought “Wow,” this should be a great show if that was performance number 1!”

Oh how wrong I was! Many of the rest just fizzled. To quote Simon, forgettable and boring, some just terrible!

I think Jorge from Peurto Rico was amazing, he will be Von’s competition for the male spot.

The final contestant Lil who did Mary J Blige was amazing, hands down she won the female spot.

These three, Von, Jorge and Lil will probably make it, or should make it through in this round.

Felecia was brought back to the competition after one of the originals to go through got disqualified for her connections to the show, and already having had a record deal. I thought she was okay, the judges loved her. I thought some of her notes were way off.

Kristin, who sang Tracy Chapman, I thought was vocally good, but boring.

Nathan, who I expected to be wowed by, sang Meatloaf and well . . I would have done anything if he would have stopped singing to be honest! I just didn’t like it at all. The judges didn’t really either, but they liked him and felt he was at least memorable. Yeah I’ll give him that.

The guy who sang Bruce Hornsby bored me to death, even the judges loved him. He could be a darkhorse this week and make it through.

As of yet, we still have no idea how they will do the Wild Card show next week. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow with the results show.

Correction: The Wildcard show is THIS Thursday, not next week. Thanks to Teach for pointing this out in the comments. Also it appears that anywhere from 8-9 of the judges favorites are brought back to battle it out for the final 3 spots. There is also a rumor that they might bring back ones who never even made it past Hollywood.

Heroes: Twist and Boom!

Heroes: Twist and Boom!

Posted by Dustin on 03.03.2009 at 10:23 pm

A great episode of “Heroes” last night with some big shockers at the end.

First up, Claire continued to work to try and help her new friend Aquaman (I’m forgetting his name, Andrew?) escape, but her mom found out Claire was hiding him in her closet. Her mom, furious, ended up helping her by forging a license for him so he could get away and through border checks. She even ended up stalling when federal agents stormed the house. Go Claire’s mom!

The real shocker though came at the end of the show when Eric Doyle, aka the Puppetmaster, showed up to see Claire for help! “Rebel” texted him telling him to go to Claire for help. What da hell! I thought Eric was dead? I was so confused . . .

Sylar and Luke continued trekking along in the desert, eventually stopping at some old closed diner that Sylar had a memory about. There he remembered his father dropping him off, where his “new” family picked him up. He also had a memory of his father killing his mother, using the same brain slicing ability Sylar had. Sylar was furious and had a new quest, revenge for his real mother’s murder.

Luke meanwhile seems to have run out of chances with Sylar. Sylar grew tired of him. Luke kept wanting Sylar to forget about his father, trying to convince him to just go on the lam with him somewhere. Sylar seemingly left him at the end of the show, sparing his life, telling him to go home to mommy. Not sure what is going on here. I was sure Luke was his brother, but after 8 million times being beaten up or almost killed by Sylar, he never told him. I would have expected him to blurt it out to try and save his life at some point. Is that the end of Luke? Was he just a pointless sidekick for a few episodes? I hope this isn’t the last we see of him, otherwise let down! Though he was getting on my nerves I must say ๐Ÿ™‚

Matt and Peter attempted to infiltrate Building 26 to rescue Daphne. Peter borrowed Matt’s power for the mission, thinking it would help if they could both read minds and watch each others backs. Well in the end it turned out Daphne wasn’t even there, she was taken to a medical facility elsewhere. They did however steal a bunch of plans of Nathan’s to use against him.

Meanwhile Nathan, HRG and The Hunter were setting a trap for them. HRG told them how to distract Matt’s powers with sounds, getting in good with The Hunter. The Hunter though had pretty much had it with Nathan. He put Peter on a most wanted dead or alive list and didn’t care what Nathan thought about it! Oh yeah, Nathan was realizing The Hunter was a bit off his rocker. Nathan couldn’t control him anymore.

In the end Matt got captured, allowing Peter to escape with the secrets. Peter was cornered on the roof where HRG told him he was on his side, it was a trap, he was being set up. So Peter now knows that HRG is on their side it would seem. Peter was shot by the Hunter, fell off the roof, but Nathan flew him off quickly! It happened so fast I wasn’t sure if it was Nathan flying or if Peter had somehow taken his powers back and flown off himself.

Nathan flew off with Peter and he talked to both Peter and his mom in some other location. Nathan wanted Peter to turn himself in, saying he would help him. Peter pretended to go along, hugging Nathan, only to steal his powers and fly off. Mama Petrelli then warned Nathan his original plan got out of control, she had seen what would happen. Remember her power is seeing the future in dreams. She whispered something to Nathan.

The show ended with a shocking twist. Matt’s painting of him blowing up the Capital came true, but now how he thought. The Hunter drugged him, strapped to bomb on him and dropped him off right in front of the capital. He wanted everyone to think he was a terrorist so he could continue with his own plan. It was Matt’s painting come true! The previews for next week show Nathan arriving to help him, clearly having been warned by his mama.

Once again Hiro and Ando were absent, and again I didn’t find myself missing them too much. I know they are back soon though, I just hope they don’t try and be overly funny.
