Ghost Whisperer: Sam Rejects The Truth, Melinda Rejects Sam!

Wow last night’s “Ghost Whisperer” was so good, yet so infuriating! Sam was trying to accept Melinda’s gift, while trailing her and helping her with her latest ghost problem. A school for children opened up in what was once an old insane asylum. Hello ghosts! Seriously, how creepy can you get?

The main ghost was a woman who was believed to have drowned her child, but she didn’t. She died in the 50s. She was committed for PPD, which they didn’t understand back then. She died supposedly of heart failure in the asylum, but in reality she died during shock therapy.

The shock therapy rewired her brain so that while she was there, she started seeing ghosts. One ghost presented himself as her doctor and confused her. He told her that she had killed her child, when she never did. The ghost was one of the baddies, and he was keeping her and all the other ghosts there from going into the light. He was using psycho babble to keep them afraid of the light, telling them the only thing in it was oblivion and nothingness.

In the end Melinda helped all the ghosts cross over, and reunited the mother with her grown son so she found forgiveness and happiness. The bad ghost however refused to go into the light and planned to stick around. The show ended with him standing ominously outside of Melinda’s house. It was hinted that he may be connected with the underground Grandview.

Melinda meanwhile finally told Sam/Jim the truth. She told him who he really was, how Sam went into the light, why he had all these memories that didn’t make sense. Sam/Jim of course didn’t believe her. In the end he thought much like the ghost had done with the patients, she did with him. He theorized that after she lost Jim, she latched onto him in the hospital. He thought she whispered all those details into his ears, that’s why he had the memories. She had it, saying she had tried, but this obstacle between them was too big. She told him to pack his things and go, which he did!

Grrr, so good but so infuriating! I loved that Melinda told Sam the truth, but expected this reaction from him. What I never expected was for Melinda to tell him to go. Honestly though, I don’t blame her. She was patient, she tried, Sam/Jim was the one blocking them be together. I could get how she wouldn’t want him around when he wouldn’t accept who he was. It would be too hard for her.

The ghost story I really liked this week, even though it was too much like “House on Haunted Hill” in a way with the psycho doctor ghost and his patients. The doctor ghost looks like he will cause big trouble for Melinda next week, or down the line. Next week’s previews had Sam rescuing Melinda, then waking up as Jim! I cannot wait to see next week. I better not be disappointed.

  1. This episode was pretty good! I liked the ghosts, although creepy. It does look like ghost doctor will be with us for awhile. I’m not surprised that Melinda told Jim/Sam to go, I frustrated enough to want him to at least leave for a little bit. It’s funny because no matter how crazy the truth is, it’s the only thing that really makes sense. As if Melinda could sit there and whisper how to be a paramedic in his ear! I think that if he talked to Delia and understood how she started to believe (when Sam showed up at the basketball court) then maybe it’d make sense.

I definitely can’t wait for next week’s episode, that’s for sure. But is he going to wake up as Jim or is he going to wake up as a guy who had double amnesia? I hope he wakes up as Jim, though!
