True Blood: Are You A Dog?

True Blood: Are You A Dog?

A lot went on in the latest episode of “True Blood.” Where to even begin? The show started off with Sookie finding a trio of vampires at Bill’s place feeding on two humans. There was Marcus, the eldest and apparently a gay vampire who had a boy-toy human to feed on. Diane, an African American woman we found out had a fling with Bill in the 1930s. Finally the big guy with the bald and tattooed head that Jason saw on Monet’s tape. They were interested in Sookie, but Bill said he was hers and off limits to them. After they left, he claimed to an offended Sookie that he only said that so they wouldn’t prey on her. He also said those three lived together, and when vampires live together they tend to become evil. He chooses to live alone to retain some link to his humanity.

Sookie soon began to question whether she wanted to keep seeing Bill, as he scared her. Her grandmother pointed out how opening your heart to any man is scary, but Bill being a vampire did make it a bit different as well. The grandmother clearly likes Bill. I’m sensing a possible back story here! Maybe grandma met him when she was younger?

Meanwhile Jason escaped from being tied up to the bed by Dawn. He then played a joke on her, dressing up and claiming to be a vampire coming to drain her. She didn’t find it funny, and Jason didn’t find it funny that she had been with a vampire. That was enough to get him out of the mood to perform. After a fight, that ended up with her shooting at him to get out of her house, he ended up going to Tara’s cousin for some help. He wanted viagra, but Tara’s cousin only dealt in illegal things. He did have something that could help, but it was not cheap. Tara’s cousin gave him some V (Vampire Blood) in exchange for an underwear dance in front of the camera for his website. Jason didn’t know Tara was there watching. Too funny! I absolutely adore both Tara and her cousin, who were hilarious in this episode with some of the cracks they made.

Tara and Sam started talking about their unrequited love for Jason and Sookie. Tara then presented Sam with a “friends with benefits” option for the night, as both were “tired of not getting laid.” I honestly thought Sam wouldn’t go through with it, but he did! Later in the night Tara woke to hear Sam growling and barking in his sleep. Hmmmmm. She left the next morning, and the dog that has been watching over Sookie showed up at Sam’s place. It seemed like they were hinting that Sam was the dog, until they shared a scene together. What is going on here? Bill said Vampires could shape shift, but Sookie was able to read Sam’s mind once, so he’s clearly not a vamp. Is he a werewolf? Something tells me that is where they are headed. That or he is some kind of witch and the dog is his familiar.

Bill confronted the trio of evil vamps near the end of the show. They had killed the boy-toy, who had Hep-D and was purposely trying to infect them. Sookie warned them of this at Bill’s place, she stopped Bill from feeding on him as she read his mind. Hep D is one of the few weaknesses vampires have, blood born illnesses make them weak for a period of time. The human woman that was with them allowing them to feed off her was also killed and they had completely drained her. Bill warned them that they were bringing too much attention to themselves, this would be their downfall in the end. The trio was not too happy with Bill, and they wanted to know how Sookie knew what she knew.

Meanwhile, Sookie went to Dawn’s place as she hadn’t shown up for work. She found Dawn very dead! I think it’s obvious the tattooed vampire is killing these women in town. He and Jason I bet will have a showdown at some point. Likewise I think Diane is going to end up having issues with Sookie, out of jealousy of her and Bill. I can see Diane going after Sookie at some point.

The previews for the coming weeks look amazing, with a huge fight breaking out between Sam and the vampire trio. It also looks like Jason gets hooked on V and it changes him drastically.

  1. LOVE THIS SHOW! Even if you think the subject is not for you, try it. They’re running the first three episodes 9/25 back-to-back on HBO. Written by Alan Ball (also wrote 6 Feet Under, I think.). It’s quirky, different, and Bill and Sookie are great as are the other characters.

  2. It is running very true to the series of books that it is based on so for the reader of those it makes it evne more cool.

As for Sam given I have read the books, I hope they do bring in what he is fully and it explains a fair amount. LOL
