So Long Witch
So today was the final episode of “Passions.” They waited till the very last episode to finally expose everything Gwen had done, and even arrested her to boot along with her mother. Ethan learned Little Ethan was his son, and Ethan and Theresa finally married, which closed out the show.
As cheesy as the final episode was (having Tabitha get baptized to save the town from a volcano), and as many issues I had with how they ended some things (Tabitha losing her powers and not getting them back after saving the town and the people, also the fact they left Grace dead as a doornail) I will admit I got teary-eyed over seeing the show I had followed since the beginning end. When Theresa turned to the camera after marrying Ethan and told the viewers if she had learned one thing over these 8 years, it was to always follow your “passion,” I was sniffling. The final scene showed the cast and crew celebrating as balloons dropped and we heard Josh Ryan Evans (Timmy) singing “Should Old Acquaintances Be Forgot.” More sniffles!
Alas, to make the day even more depressing . . . I finally took “Days” off my Tivo list of things to record. I figured why not make it a two for one day. I try not to turn the TV on during the day to distract me, and at night I want to wind down with my other shows or a movie. I have watched “Days” all but once or twice in two months (though I’m sure I can still turn it on and figure out just what is going on by the end of the hour). With teaching in the fall and hopefully in the spring, my schedule is about to get really busy and I know I probably won’t have time for it anymore. If and when “Days” ends though, I’ll be there to see it out too.

Dustin,
I understand your pain about Days. I have been reading your bog for YEARS about DOOL. I too got unattached when you did months ago. I havnt even gone to soapoperafan.com/days since you werent doing it any longer.
I LOVE THIS SITE THOUGH! We love ALL the same shows!
Do you watch LOST by chance?

I watch Lost if it’s on, but I have not watched enough to report on it. I know Lost fans, they scour the episodes and find stuff that related to an episode 3 seasons ago. I don’t know enough to do that lol.
I’m going to try and get a friend to do Lost next season if possible.

It was somwwhat rushed at the end. It would have been nice to tie up lose ends…where was jessica? why did lil ethan miss the final wedding? where were maria & Jane? Also, I wa waiting for them to say that that Jonathan wasn’t Ethan’s after that Vegas thing…it was an ok ending, and like you Dustin, I had tears in my eyes w/Timmy….Keep up the great work!!!!!

Every time I tried to watch Passions, there was Theresa crying her crocodile tears. So basically, I lost interest because of that character plus I didn’t have access to the show once it was let got by NBC. Fancy bugged me out of this world too although I practically had stopped watching when she got on the show. I though she was a face à claque. So no bonding there, first impressions only! I still was curious about the ending though. I did invest time with the show at one point. Maybe someone will put the finale on Youtube so that I may cry too! 😉

DAYS is better than ever, it won’t end any time soon. I don’t see why you can’t just appreciate the show and say that it will end. Your missing the best soap on television. I’m sorry you feel this way.

Um well if you read what I wrote, I haven’t watched cause I’ve been busy and fear I won’t have time for it anymore. Second, when NBC cancels it I will watch to see how it ends, which is what I was saying. From what I’ve heard, they only renewed it for one more year unfortunately, which isn’t a good sign.

Um well, the show is better now, its incredible as a matter of fact. NBC won’t cancel DAYS, don’t even assume that. I’m surprised to read this Dustin, especially from you. It’s weird.

Um, are we talking about the same NBC that said not too long ago that they don’t see having soaps past 2008/9?
Sorry, I’m just being realistic. Days’ chance of staying on NBC aren’t good, the network has a history of axing its soaps and it’s clear they want out of Daytime all together. They still, as far as I know, haven’t made the official announcement of the pick-up for another year. It’s taken them much longer than in the past to announce and praise the renewal of Days. Whether another network picks it up in the future is a whole other thing. I’m sure Corday will shop it around to save it.
I have always expected Days not to last much longer (at least on NBC) just because of the way soaps and daytime TV have been going these past few years. When Passions got the can from NBC, I knew Days wouldn’t be far behind. Just because I am/was a fan, doesn’t mean I can’t be realistic.
Shows change, people change too. Unfortunately I’m facing the whole “only so many hours in a day, so make the most and enjoy them” dilemma many others face. Right now Days isn’t making the cut for me cause of the stories. If they change, maybe that will change and I’ll watch it more than I do now.
I also think hearing me say I’ve lost interest is just shocking for many cause I was such an uber fan for so long. The idea that someone like me who devoted so many hours . . . years to the show could stop watching I guess is shocking in a way. Personally, I think it should be more shocking to the show than anyone 🙂

Dustin I totally agree with you. I’ve been watching the show as long as you and I too have lost interest. I really don’t like what they’ve done with the show. There are far too many stories that I don’t like right now. Like John being an Ass, Max & this sister thing and Ava don’t even get me stated on that one. All in all I’m really disappointed because I used to love that show! I think you are doing a great job with this page. I enjoy coming here to read your thoughts on Swingtown, Grey’s, Desperate Housewives etc., just like I enjoyed your Days page when it was yours and Days was good. Keep up the good work.
