So this week on “Shear Genius” the quick cut challenge was an interesting one. They had to style a group of women’s hair, but not cut a strand. The catch was the women hadn’t cut their hair in years, and one woman’s hair was 68 inches! I honestly at this point don’t remember too many of the hair styles, except for Nicole’s insane braiding maddness that did indeed look terrible, but Matt won this challenge. This irked his competitors because they all seem to dislike Matt. Matt apparently doesn’t associate with any of them, he stays to himself, and he never shuts up about his red hot wife.
The elimination cut challenge was to cut the hair of their models and style it for the red carpet. The fun part of this challenge was that Allison Sweeny, Sami from “Days of Our Lives,” was a guest judge! The winner of this challenge was the guy who one last week (Greg?). I admit I’m having trouble still remembering names at this point as there are still so many of the contestants. They should be narrowed down within a few weeks with some team elimination challenges. I have to say I liked the work his competitor did more (I think her name was Gwen), but he did not only a cut and style but also color in 2 hours and that impressed everyone.
In the bottom two were Paolo (again) and oddly Matt, who won the quick challenge. Matt didn’t listen to his client, who said her hair couldn’t hold curls, so he attempted them and failed. Paolo, well he did this Princess Leia hairdo gone horribly wrong. Honestly I felt Paolo should have gone home, but Matt was sent packing. I wasn’t actually sad because throughout this entire episode all Matt talked about was his beautiful, hot and sexy wife. It became annoying, reallying annoying. I know at least half of it was probably the shows editing, but it was bad. I’m pretty sure last season there was a similar contestant who constantly had to point out how he straight he was, so America didn’t think he was gay because he was a hair dresser.
BRUCE AND SUSAN ESCAPE TO THE FAMILY CABIN TO RECONNECT WITH EACH OTHER AND THEIR CHILDREN, ON “SWINGTOWN,” THURSDAY, AUG. 7
“Running on Empty” – Bruce insists on family time with a trip to the cabin, but Laurie finds her own means to keep plans with Doug. Meanwhile, Janet and Roger see a therapist, on SWINGTOWN, Thursday, Aug. 7 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Val Emmich will join “Ugly Betty” as a possible new love interest for . . . . Betty !?! Wait, a third one!
Ntare Mwine is joining “Heroes” as an African who is artistic and close to many of the heroes. His powers will be revealed over the 9 episodes he’s scheduled for. A side note, I suspect this is the casting scoop Ausiello talked about months ago when he said the show was looking for a possible Australian Aborigine to take over for a bit as the narrator of the show.
The New York Daily News is revealing that former N’syncher Lance Bass will be on “Dancing With The Stars” next season. However the show hasn’t yet decided whether to put the openly gay singer with a male or female partner.
Comments Off on Lance Bass To Dance With The Stars?
Some Grey’s scoopage came out today. Not only will the season premier be TWO HOURS, but Nurse Rose is back! Ausiello at EW and Matt at TVGuide are saying Rose is back to cause some MerDer trouble, and might be sticking around for a bit this season. Grrr, I knew it wouldn’t be that easy to get rid of her!
Also there is a rumor that Callie could end up pregnant with McSteamy’s kid. Ausiello had posted a blind item a few months back that someone who kissed in the season finale would be pregnant next season, and many of us believed it would be Callie by McSteamy.
The photos show America sporting a rather outrageously pink outfit in the middle of central park, as well as her riding a motor bike. They have “fantasy sequance” written all over them to me. With “Betty” shooting in public places, we can probably expect a lot more spoilerish photos to begin leaking.
On July 14th NBC begins the “Heroes” webisodes. The title of them is “Going Postal” as it’s about a mailman who acquires special powers. It’s said to be a three-parter, with new episodes released on the following Monday’s. Comic book fans will quickly realize the hero’s powers are awfully like those of Black Canary.
Tom began his flights to Japan in this episode, and Trina didn’t like him being so far away and for so long. She should be worried, and Tom was bad and went out and partied with a friend. Oh dear! When Trina learns Tom has been a very bad boy, she won’t be happy at all.
Back at home, Trina threw a party to support none other than porn star Harry Reems, who was being targeted by the US government for his films, which was simply a distraction tactic according to Trina and friends. Bruce wouldn’t go to the party and didn’t want Susan to go, but after looking into the cause, Susan thought it was something they should support. She insisted she was going, which he did not like one bit.
Susan did indeed go to the party, while Bruce went bowling with Roger. Bruce talked to Roger about how he felt ever since they hooked up with Trina and Tom that Susan had been changing. Meanwhile Susan talked to Trina as well, worried she was changing and it was Bruce who was lagging behind her.
Janet went to Trina’s party, mainly as a way to try and win Susan’s approval. Roger and Bruce stormed it and tried to get their wives to leave, but they refused. They then had a private screening of “Deep Throat” and Janet watched it! The most hilarious moment of the episode was when Harry Reems hit on Janet and invited her to the “party” he was starting up in Trina’s basement.
The kids, as usual, had some stories going on. BJ got closer to his neighbor Samantha. Meanwhile Laurie’s ex-boyfriend confronted her, knowing what was going on with her and her teacher, and he made veiled threats about getting him fired. She wanted to know what he wanted and of course he wanted her back. Laurie let him know she didn’t like who he’d become and seemingly got him to back down from his threats. Laurie and her teacher agreed to cool things until she was no longer his student, which was in two weeks.
My Thoughts
I have to say this was probably one of the most hilarious episodes to date, simply because of the fact it was about “Deep Throat” and Janet attending the party AND the viewing of the movie! Janet is my favorite character on this show.
I will admit, I have seen “Deep Throat.” I was curious as to what the hoopla was about over this movie so I got my hands on a copy and watched it. Let me restate that, I started to watch it and quickly got bored and fast-forwarded through the movie. Yes it’s porn, no doubt about it. It’s also just an incredibly stupid and awful movie. I don’t know if porn has a “camp” genre, but if it does, this is no doubt the king of camp-porn!
The idea of Susan being the more “open” one and Bruce suddenly pulling back and having issues is a total turn-about on what you’d expect, and I have to admit I’m loving it. Normally you’d think it would be the guy all into the whole sexual rebellion aspect and the wife going along, perhaps out of fear of losing her man. Seeing the man having those issues is very different!
Roger . . . poor Roger . . . . every other Friday! Leave it to Janet to schedule in sex. I’m still waiting for her to just go nuts and lose it . . . sexually speaking I mean. I think when she finds out her hubby has a thing for Susan then she’s gunna jump on the nearest person. One would think that would end up being Bruce, but I think they will go for the shock value and make it Trina.
BJ and Samantha, I wish they’d just end this story honestly. It has bored me since day one and I just don’t get it. Either introduce something shocking to shake it up or let it die.
Finally Laurie’s ex did try and have the teach fired, which I thought might happen. She seems to have gotten him to back off, but I’m not so sure he will. I have yet to figure out what grade Laurie is in. She’ obviously in summer school, and the class is obviously an AP class for college credit. My guess is she’s out of high school then, which would at least make any relationship with her teacher not against the law at this point. I loved Laurie in this episode because of the way she’s opening up with her mom and essentially “rebelling” against her dad with her political views, swaying her mom in the process.
In this episode, the remains of a long lost Vietnam vet were found and set to be returned home. The only living relative was the man’s daughter, who happened to be stationed on the base. When Michael went to see her though, he was shocked that she would not be attending. As it turned out, her father died before she was even born, she never knew him. Her mother remarried and that is the man she considered her father. She also said her biological father was a foster kid, so as far as she knew he had no other family.
Claudia Joy later talked to her, psychoanalyzing her and suggesting perhaps the reason she enlisted was to feel some kind of connection to the father she didn’t know. The woman did not seem to appreciate this at all. She also told Claudia Joy her step-father was black, so she was constantly reminded he wasn’t her birth father. She said she didn’t need to join the army to try and feel close to her birth dad.
Meanwhile Trevor came home this week and everyone was calling him a hero, which he was having a hard time with. He didn’t want to talk about what happened, but the army sent a press liaison over to basically coach him and arrange for a press tour with him.
Trevor went on Pam’s show and said he did what he was trained to do, what anyone would have done, and he doesn’t think that makes him a hero. He talked about the people the army has on hire, the scientists who go out and find the remains of long lost soldiers. He said they were heroes because they were bringing people home, and he told everyone to attend the memorial for the Vietnam vet. In the end, many people attended the vet’s funeral services, including his daughter.
Also going on, Joan met the guy who was set to replace her while she was on maternity leave. She was shocked he was starting training so early. She noticed he had no combat patch, and he grumbled how he feels he would have been promoted to colonel by now had he seen combat. Joan became worried, she saw the guy as a climber, someone who would do whatever it took to climb the ranks and she felt he might be after her job on his way up the ladder.
Over in Iraq, Frank talked to a guy whose wife left him . . . while he was in Iraq. Frank began to worry, he talked to Denise about the changes in her that he was seeing and how they scared him. He tried his best to convince her to sell her bike, and she seemed to agree.
Later Denise was furious when a man showed up to buy the bike. She found out Frank had not only took it upon himself to put a listing in the base paper, but agreed on a price with the guy over email! Denise said her bike was not for sale and she was livid.
Later Getti met Denise at a restaurant where she was having breakfast. He talked about how he had to go all over town to find this place, which she mentioned had great pancakes. He joined her, but then they got a call about an incoming trauma. Unfortunately Denise had been so into riding around she didn’t realize she was out of gas. Getti told her to hop on the back of his bike and they’d go in together, which is what they did.
In The Coming Weeks
Denise is seen on Getti’s bike, and rumors start spreading.
Roxy tells Denise there will always be people who like to talk.
Getti seems to be actively pursuing Denise!
Betty asks Roxy to run the Hump Bar, and later says she’s giving it to her.
Roxy begins taking over and she faces off with a guy who is double dipping.
My Thoughts
This seemed to be a pretty slow episode honestly. I’m thinking it’s the calm before the storm when some serious you-know-what hits the fan. Unfortunately I really don’t have much to comment on.
My usual annoyance and dislike of Joan was traded in for loathing and disgust for Frank. When he pulled that stunt with the bike sale I was in total shock. At that moment I started having very bad thoughts about Frank, specifically very bad things happening to him. I’m beginning to think we are going to have are very first “Army Wives” divorce coming up soon.
