The Devil Returns on “Reaper” for Midseason
May 13, 2008 (New York, New York) The CW Network announced a fall launch date of September 1 and unveiled the schedule for its 2008-2009 season today at a presentation and party for advertisers, affiliates and national media in the Tent at Lincoln Center. The announcement was made by Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment, The CW.
“With shows that everyone is talking about, from ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘America’s Next Top Model’ to our upcoming ‘90210,’ our new lineup has the best Monday-Friday schedule flow we have ever had at The CW,” said Ostroff. “We are zeroed in on our target demo of young women 18-34 with both new and returning series, and each programming block provides a strong promotional platform for the following night. We’re confident that the quality of our shows for the fall season will make The CW the destination for young women.”
Last night our four final contestants/couples drew randomly to find out what dances they would be doing. Each couple again did two dances, segmented into the ballroom round and the Latin round.
Jason and Edyta chose the foxtrot and the passodoble. They first danced the foxtrot to “Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off.” Len said he glided around the ballroom, it was fantastic and he loved it. (I missed the other comments). They got 28.
Marissa and Tony first danced the quickstep to some old swing song (I Found My World In You?). Bruno noticed she missed some steps. Carrie felt she was the unlikely contender, and she thought it was a great quickstep. Len said they had a difficult dance compared to the others and she did a great job. They got a 26.
Christian and Cheryl got the Viennese waltz and samba, the later being the dance he got hurt on. First up was the vVennese waltz to “Satellite.” Len loved it, Bruno said it had a wow factor. They got a 27.
Kristi and Mark got the tango and the jive. They danced the tango to some Latin song. Len said she ot the drama back, but it was hectic at times for him. Bruno said they squeezed every single drop of drama out of it. Carrie said welcome back she’s the queen of the dance floor. They got a 29.
For their second dance, Jason and Edyta danced the passodoble to some Latin song. Bruno said something about having the strength of Iron Man. Carrie said he did a great job. Len said like the price of gas, he’s going up. They got a 27.
Tony and Marissa did the rumba to “Just The Two Of Us.” Carrie said it wasn’t exciting, it wasn’t a semi-final dance. Len said the Rumba is a precise dance and doesn’t have the wow factor the others have, he thought they did a good job. Bruno said she was sexy and she sold it well. They got a 26.
Christian and Cheryl danced the samba to some Latin song (Juanita?). Len said that his injury has made him focused and stronger than before. His criticism is that it was a little flat footed. Bruno loved it, Carrie said it was fantastic. They got a 29.
Mark and Kristi danced the jive to an old Tina Turner song. Bruno said it was the cherry on the icing of the cake. Carrie said that was a difficult routine and she did fantastic. Len said she had great rhythm, but a few times he thought it was a bit stiff. They got a 28.
The results air tonight and unfortunately my money is on Marissa going home. I think the final two will end up being Christian and Kristi at this point.
Comments Off on Dancing With The Stars: Semi-Finals
With ABC’s fall and spring line-up now out, it’s unfortunately official. “Cashmere Mafia” has been canceled. I guess we’ll have to be happy with NBC’s “Lipstick Jungle” next season. The show wasn’t bad, and I’ll probably pick it up for the blog. However I enjoyed CM much more.
ABC also announced that it was picking up the NBC comedy “Scrubs.”
New Series Include “The Goode Family,” “Life on Mars,” “Opportunity Knocks,” “Scrubs” And “Untitled Ashton Kutcher/Tyra Banks Project”
Returning Series on the Fall Schedule Include “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” “Boston Legal,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” “Eli Stone,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Private Practice,” “Pushing Daisies,” “Samantha Who?,” “Supernanny,” “Ugly Betty,” “Wife Swap” and “20/20”

ABC ANNOUNCES ITS SUMMER SCHEDULE WITH THE PREMIERE OF EIGHT ORIGINAL SERIES
ABC announces its summer schedule with the premiere of eight original series, including the return of “The Bachelorette” on Monday, May 19 (9:00-11:00 p.m.), following the performance show finale of “Dancing with the Stars”; “The Mole” on Monday, May 26 (10:00-11:00 p.m.); “Wipeout” on Tuesday, June 24 (8:00-9:00 p.m.); “I Survived a Japanese Game Show” on Tuesday, June 24 (9:00-10:00 p.m.); ABC News’ “Hopkins” on Thursday, June 26 (10:00-11:00 p.m.); “Dance Machine” on Friday, June 27 (8:00-9:00 p.m.); “High School Musical: Summer Session” on Sunday, July 20 (8:00-9:00 p.m.); and “Wanna Bet” on Monday, July 21 (9:00-10:00 p.m.).
In the season finale the episode surrounded Kevin and Scotty’s wedding. They wanted it quick and simple, no fuss no muss. Of course Nora being Nora, she went into planning mode. She later told Kevin that he deserved this day to be special, and he thanked her for that.
Kevin, Tommy and Justin took a road trip to Arizona to meet Scotty’s parents, who wouldn’t come to his wedding. Scotty’s mom basically told Kevin while they loved their son, they didn’t condone his behavior as it was against God, their religion and was a sin. Basically the mom sat their going off on all this while the father seemed to be uncomfortable, but not allowed to speak. The father stopped Kevin before he left and gave him his cuff links to give to Scotty, who he promised could wear them when he got married. It was an odd twist where the mother basically seemed to be the condemner and the father the more accepting one. I think the dad really wanted to be there, but didn’t want to go against his wife.
The Walkers all accepted Rebecca, even if she wasn’t blood. Sarah had the best line when she told her they were like the mafia, once your in your in. I loved it because Sarah was one of the cold ones with Rebecca initially, as was Kitty.
Tommy meanwhile continued to defend Saint Holly. Sarah tried to make him see that Holly had lied and deceived them all, but Tommy said Holly saved Ojai and it was actually Sarah who first put the idea in their heads that Rebecca was a Walker. You know what, I’ve had it with Tommy. If he loves Holly so much then he should divorce his wife and marry her! Seriously though, I want Holly out, but I want Tommy out of Ojai too! I hope Holly does something and loses them the orchard, maybe then Tommy would realize she’s fallible.
Rebecca had told Sarah the baby picture they thought was her, was in fact not her! This sent Sarah back on the hunt to find out who the baby was and who was the mysterious R in their dad’s password if not Rebecca. The other Walker kids didn’t want to hear it or go there again, but Kevin soon began having memories of his dad. He remembered his dad inquiring about someone named Ryan, and later seeing the same baby photo. He was told by his dad a woman he had done work with died and left behind 3 kids, Ryan was the youngest. Kevin told Sarah, and they went to give Nora the news that William was basically a big cheat.
Robert and Kitty meanwhile decided to adopt a child, rather than continue with months of IVF which might not work out. I knew it! I think we can also see where this is headed. The classic “woman gets pregnant right after adopting” storyline.
Finally Justin and Rebecca had a talk and Justin basically admitted he was a jerk, he didn’t even think about what she was going through. Rebecca told him that he’s the one she’s always turned to, always wanted to share things with first. She thought all that had happened may have been a way for her to meet him. They kissed, but then agreed to take things slow. I dunno, I think they are cute together, but they just went from siblings to kissing to a potential relationship pretty quickly.

Wow was this ever a good episode. I can’t wait till next week’s season finale, it looks to be even better. The episode began with Bree confronting Edie over the Orson situation, and then Bree sabotaging Edie’s real-estate clients. Eddie went to see Orson to get him to get Bree off her back, which is when she found a statement Orson had written out about Daniel and Austin and the baby. Edie being Edie used it to try and blackmail Bree into being her new best friend and baking slave. Faced with a life of blackmail, Bree told the girls the truth about Daniel and the baby. They all then confronted Edie, telling her they were no longer friends and they walked away from her. Edie then packed up and left Wisteria Lane . . . for now. I am beginning to think that Orson’s time on Wisteria Lane might also be coming to an end soon. I don’t think Bree will forgive him for what he’s done, especially with Edie. As for Edie, for someone who claimed all she wanted was to be included in the girls club and their friends, she sure took the wrong way going about it. I’m glad they finally kicked her to the curb.
Mike’s mama came for a visit to help Susan as the baby’s due date gets closer. Basically she wanted to try and help Susan learn to be a “proper” wife and spent the whole episode criticizing Susan for all her faults, which Mike told his mom about. It seems she could only remember her faults and nothing good Mike said! She had the best line in the whole episode when sharing her family recipes with Susan, some of which went back to before “the war of Northern aggression.” That was hilarious! When Mike’s mama decided to just move in until the baby comes, Susan pretended to go into labor so she’d get the hell out! Eventually she made Mike tell his mom that she had to stop insulting Susan. She of course was just mortified and didn’t mean to be insulting her with her comments. This is of course when Susan really went into labor. Frankly I think the one Susan should have been angry with was Mike. I mean the man must just do nothing but complain to his mama about Susan!
Gabby and Carlos began taking a liking to their new tenant Ellie, who even bonded with Gabby over mother’s day because she had such a poor relationship with her own mother and felt like Gabby had taken her in. Okay hello, Gabby isn’t old enough to be “Mallory’s” mother! Gabby soon found out that Ellie hasn’t been giving tattoos (duh!) but selling cocaine. She saw the bricks under her bed, which she knew what they were because as she said, she was a fashion model in the 80s. She and Carlos went to the cops, but they already knew and had been investigating Ellie. They want to get to her supplier and now Carlos and Gabby have to play along with Ellie as if nothing is wrong. The problem of course is they like her and don’t want to see her busted, but Carlos is on probation and that can’t be risked. Something tells me Gabby is going to single handily blow the investigation for the cops on this one in order to save Ellie.
The spawn of the devil continued her reign of terror in this episode. Lynette and Tom brought a psychologist to the house to observe things, and of course Kayla played up to him. The psychologist decided that Kayla needed to really bond with Lynette and they should do everything together to form that bond. Kayla of course started demanding things and when Lynette stood her ground, she threatened to get Penny to do something to hurt herself next. Lynette hauled off and slapped the demon. She apologized, but Kayla held a grudge . . . as did Tom! Tom once again sided with Kayla, which just ticked me off. He constantly sees her as some victim in all of this, he can’t see she’s Satan. Shave her head, I’m sure they’ll find a 666! Kayla of course then called up the doctor crying, saying her mommy hit her, and it wasn’t the first time. This has got to be her downfall, as CPS would have to come in and interview the other kids too. No doubt they’d find out Kayla was a lying serpent? Of course the twins being the twins, they’d probably say how mean their mommy is to them as they are currently grounded. I’m starting to have a bad feeling that the death that comes in the season finale could be connected to Kayla.
Speaking of death . . . . have we finally uncovered what is going on with Katherine? Determined to nip any relationship with Wayne and Dylan in the bud, she told Wayne that Dylan wasn’t even his kid. He had a DNA test run and found out it was true. Furious Wayne decided to tell Dylan the truth about her mother and her lies. However before he could, he seemed fixated on her arms . . . as if something should be there but wasn’t. A birthmark? A scar? Wayne is now even more angry than ever at Katherine and seems to know what’s going on.
It seems all the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place and we are back to the first guesses made at the beginning of the season. Is Dylan not Dylan after all? When she first came onto the show she couldn’t remember Julie or their friendship or any of her time on Wisteria Lane. All she remembered was a man standing over her bed. Is the real Dylan dead? Is she what is buried in the backyard? Did Katherine kidnap a kid and replace her dead daughter? That’s what it’s looking like. That’s however too easy, I’m hoping another twist will happen.
Last night on “Housewives” the women finally had it and turned their backs on the scheming Edie, who packed up and left Wisteria Lane to go see her son Travers. Is Edie gone? According to creator Marc Cherry . . . yes!
Yes, Edie’s gone, he told The Associated Press on Friday. Then he added: “She won’t be back for a few years.”
For awhile now there have been rumors of Edie’s departure and possible death on the show. One spoiler has it that a major character will die in the finale. With Edie gone for now, we know it’s probably not her. Additionally EW has reported that Nicolette Sheridan will be back for at least a few episodes next season.
What does Marc’s quote mean then? It looks like Edie will return in a few years . . . which obviously means the time jump at the end of the season is set to happen and Edie returns after being away from Wisteria Lane for years! This should be very interesting.
In the last episode of “Greys,” “The Becoming,” the show used an image of Isaiah Washington (Burke) which was featured in the newspaper article about him winning an award for his skills as a surgeon.
Well Isaiah is not happy, as they did not ask permission to use his photo, which makes what they did illegal. He’s filed complaints with the Screen Actors Guild and his lawyer has sent notices to ABC, looking for a settlement of some kind.
So I just watched “Brothers and Sisters” big season finale. I’ll update my normal thoughts/summary post on it soon. However I wanted to get this post out there about the big secret for discussion.
Well those who have seen it know what the shock is. Basically William is a man whore! He not only had an affair with Holly, but some other unknown floozy who he had a kid with as well! She was married too and had a husband and other kids. Jeeze Louise! William couldn’t keep it in his pants could he?
Sarah guessed as much, realizing there could possibly be another kid out there with an R name. That is what the R in the password was, that is the baby photo. Rebecca confirmed the baby photo Sarah found wasn’t her. The rest of the Walkers didn’t seem to want to hear this idea though. Kevin however started remembering things and remembered catching his dad with the photo of the kid once before who was supposedly a kid of a friend of his.
When Kevin had the first flashback and heard the name Ryan I knew that was it. For a moment I thought though “Ew gross, please don’t let it be Robert!” No they didn’t go into yet another incest themed story. So apparently William has another kid out there, Ryan, who I guess we’ll meet next season.
Thoughts? I don’t know if I like this twist honestly. They have really made William out to be a bigger jerk than he already was! I don’t know if I want to see through them all going through meeting yet another possible sibling. They better do a DNA test first thing!
