Brothers and Sisters: Primary Blues
First up, sorry this was so late in coming. Anyway, let’s get to the latest episode of “Brothers and Sisters.”
The show opened pretty much were it left off a few months ago. Robert had won a major primary, but then lost a bunch to his rival Taylor, which effectively squashed his dreams for the republican nomination for President. Three months had then past from where we left off, perhaps an ode to the time lapsed during the strike and lack of episodes?
Anyway, three months later we find Kitty and Robert are starting fertility treatments to try and help her conceive. Meanwhile Isaac has accepted a job teaching in DC and shocks Nora by asking her to come with him. All the kids are worried, but think she’d never do it. She shocks everyone when she tells Isaac yes! One of the best scenes of the episode was when Kevin started to cry and Sarah slapped him and told him to be a man!
Rebecca’s birthday was coming up and she found that Nora was planning to throw her a party. She invited her mom and David to go, they’ve been seeing a lot of each other. David presented Rebecca with a gift beforehand, a necklace which she wore to the party. When Holly saw it, she was taken aback. She confronted David knowing very well it was a family heirloom, his mother’s. She said that was a gift a father would give a daughter, what is he implying? Of course it as foolish of her to do this in the middle of the Walker’s house because Justin over heard. Duh!
Meanwhile all the kids started arguing with Nora about her leaving and she blew up. She told them all off, that she wasn’t moving out of fear of being alone but to get away from all of them meddling in her life all the time. She said this was a choice she made for herself. After her blow-up the party was pretty much over. Kitty, who had told Isaac she didn’t think her mom was really ready for this or knew what she was doing, apologized to her mom for putting doubts in his head. She also told her mom she really did want her to stay.
Meanwhile back at Holly’s place, David confronted Holly about whether Rebecca was his daughter. She admitted there was a remote possibility. Oh boy! It seems she and William had a fight one night and she ended up in David’s bed. However Holly said if Rebecca learned this, she might never recover and she might never forgive her. She begged him to leave it for Rebecca’s sake, and he seemed to agree. These scenes pretty much cinched it for me, they are going to make David her father.
Nora ended up telling Isaac that she was sorry but she couldn’t go with him after all. He seemed to know it was coming, and he knew her going was a long shot. Well I think we all knew Nora wasn’t going to move away. I have to say I’m A-Okay with this as I never warmed up to these two. I still want the contractor guy back!
Finally Justin told Rebecca about the fight Holly and David had. Rebecca says her mom denies the possibility of David being her dad, but she has her doubts. She knows she can get a test, but isn’t sure she can handle the results and have her life turned upside down yet again. Justin offered to go with her, which is what he did. I have to say I’m not liking this story at all, for me it’s far too “daytime” to pull another “whose the daddy” with Rebecca. I feel it’s being done so they can pair Justin and Rebecca together.
Also going on in this episode was some issue with the deal Graham had put together, which Saul is really pushing. Sarah has reservations as the plan requires them taking out a large loan and risking a lot. In the end it appeared Sarah had decided to back out and told Graham this decision. This storyline was the big snoozer for me in this episode.
Finally as Kitty was getting used to having Robert around and looking forward to a family, Robert was missing Presidential politics and told Isaac as much. He really wanted this, he thought it was his time. Of course then the phone call from his opponents people came in, and Kitty knew it was a VP invite. I’m still not sure what will happen here, as if this happens for Robert then it means a move to DC and really would tear the storylines apart for the show in terms of the interconnectedness of the family.
Next Week:
Surprising revelations will shock the family.
Kitty call from her fertility doctor.
Saul is apparently accused of fraud by Sarah.
Taylor asks Robert to be his VP candidate.
Kevin and Tommy want to know if Justin knows something about Rebecca.
Justin asks Rebecca if she heard any news.
Well just because he gets the VP ticket doesn’t mean they will make it to the White House, they would still have to win the election. I think they just need to keep a story going with Robert.

Not to mention that if Kitty does get pregnant the stress of campaigning would have a definite potential to put the pregnancy in jeopardy. Depending on how Robert handled that part of it would certainly impact the relationship, election aside.

Ooh. I wonder if whatever Sarah “finds” that make her accuse Saul of fraud actually was William?

I seem to remember at the very begining of the show Saul was doing something shady. I can’t remember what, it may have been he was protecting William’s secrets and how he apparently “stole” a bunch of money (which turns out he used to buy the orchard land for or something)

That would SO fit! And I do vaguely remember the Saul/shady thing.
