Oh boy, “Brothers and Sisters” went “there!” Let’s get to the latest episode.
Robert met with the republican candidate for President, who just as Kitty called it, wanted Robert to join him as the VP. Robert knew that he was needed to get the moderates to vote, but was unsure how much of a role he’d have. Taylor promised he’d have a voice and would listen to all his suggestions, but Robert didn’t know if that meant he’d actually take his advice. He ultimately turned him down. Taylor later told Kitty that Robert will one day regret this decision, and he’ll probably blame her. She then told him off, saying Robert makes his own decisions. Also in this episode, Kitty got the bad news that none of the embryos harvested are viable. Something tells me we’ll be seeing a possible adoption in the future, mimicing Calista’s real life choice to adopt a child.
Saul went behind Sarah’s back this week and allowed Graham to go through with the deal with the Chinese food company. When Sarah found out she was rightly furious, but Saul felt he had been doing this longer than most of them and to trust that he knew what he was doing. She ultimately gave up some of her control and trust issues and decided to trust that Saul and Graham knew what they were doing. Well it looks like Sarah’s first instincts were right . . . the company they made the deal with went under and now the bank is set to call back a 20 million dollar loan! Spoilerish thoughts ahead! We know from spoilers Holly somehow comes to the rescue. I have a feeling the orchard might be getting sold off to save Ojai. With Rebecca confronting her mother next week about the truth of her paternity, I’m thinking she may push Holly to do this as they really don’t have any right to any of William’s money (even if he did leave it to them). In the previews Rebecca is screaming at her mom that she let William die thinking he was her father.
Over to Scotty and Kevin. Scotty cut himself on the job and ended up with an expensive ER bill because of the lack of health insurance. Kevin, practical as always, suggested a domestic partnership so that Scotty could have his health insurance benefits and other stuff. I knew Kevin was going to take the practical and logical approach, and it ticked me off. Fortunately Scotty shot him down. I loved when he said this was as close to marriage as they could get, and maybe he was acting like a 12 year old girl, but he wanted his wedding day to be special and meaningful. I’ve never really liked Scotty all that much, but in this episode I did.
Finally on to the storyline that we were all really waiting and watching for. Rebecca got the test results . . . congratulations David, it’s a girl! I’m not shocked the show did this. Justin and Rebecca’s characters will eventually need love interests, they have great chemistry as is, so why not put them together rather than hire two additional actors. Rebecca told David the truth, and he stepped up and tried to do the noble thing. He convinced her not to tell anyone about this, continue life as a Walker because it did make her happy. He then made a lame excuse to Holly to skip town, saying a movie project came up. While it might have been noble he wanted Rebecca to be happy, he also encouraged her to live a lie. I don’t think she can do that, and I don’t think we’ve seen the last of David either.
Rebecca did however try and keep up the lie, telling Justin that David wasn’t her father. He hugged her, but she commented she wasn’t sure if he was happy or disappointed. Justin assured her that he was happy, but he didn’t sound like it. He then took her out to go surfing and you could tell he has the hots for his sister by the way he was looking at her and touching her. Ew make the ickyness stop! From the previews next week with Kevin telling Justin he has to stay away from Rebecca, that must mean he’s admitted to them he has feelings for their “sister.” Oh I hope Rebecca comes clean and soon, this is giving me icky feelings watching and wondering what is going through Justin’s head.
So “Grey’s Anatomy” returned last night with the episode “Where The Wild Things Are.” It’s been a few weeks since we last checked into Seattle Grace, and Derek and Rose have been on five dates now. Rose blurted out to Lexi she loved Derek, but it’s clear Derek isn’t there yet and still has a thing for Meredith. Meredith meanwhile has begun therapy for her issues, but isn’t really talking. She just read somewhere the act of going to therapy alone can be helpful. Lexi and George meanwhile are living in a run-down apartment which George refers to as their “crapartment.” To spruce things up, Lexie stole stuff from the hospital to decorate it. I think Lexi has a crush on George! Speaking of crushes . . . Hahn and Callie seem to be BFFs now and are hanging out late at night drinking wine. What’s going on there? I always thought she was a lesbian, but the show seemed to have squashed that when Mark asked her as much in one episode. Finally McSteamy seems a little steamed that Derek moved on from Meredith to Rose so quickly. In a hilarious elevator scene, he said he’d been patient and it was his turn now! Mark of course just thought it would be “boys time” for them to go out and play the field together. Derek called him out, it seems he’s having trouble getting women. McSteamy has run out of steam?
Most of this episode centered on the residents being involved in a competition with each other. They were all living in the hospital for 2 straight weeks in order to get in the most surgical procedures to win points. Baily was the judge of this competition. While Izzie was involved with a man with a sprained ankle, determined to find out if something more was wrong with him; the others were involved with a man, his new wife and his brother who were attacked by a bear. The man provoked the bear by touching the cub, something he knew better not to do. That coupled with the fact that he had poor vision, was behaving oddly and had married a rebound girl he’d known for ten days got Meredith thinking. She suspected a tumor and was correct. This won her the competition in the end because she solved a “medical mystery” and got a whopping 80 points for it. Her prize was a bedazzled pager, all the other residents have to page her for the next 3 months when they have a surgery and she can take it if she wants.
I have to be honest, this wasn’t the most thrilling episode for me. I expected “Grey’s” to return with a real bang. This was more of a filler episode for me. Next week’s episode looks great though. Addison is back and giving Meredith hell for letting McDreamy go. Meanwhile Callie is questioned about whether she and Hahn are dating.
A new poll is now up asking your thoughts on the return of “Grey’s” and what you thought.
So “Ugly Betty” is the first show I’ve caught up on, so let’s get to dishin it!
This show centered around Betty’s 24th birthday. She and Henry had plans to go to the Poconos, until Charile the “Baby Mama” showed up to ruin that. Charlie then set out to ruin all Betty’s other plans she made with Henry, such as dinner and a concert in the park with fireworks. Gio returned in this episode and became her knight in shining armor. He found her at a restaurant to deliver a message that Henry couldn’t meet her, because he had Charlie issues. Betty was unintentionally stood up by him, he tried to call her and tell her not to go, but Justin bedazzled her phone for her birthday and it interfered with her reception. Too funny! The episode ended with Betty and Gio seeing makeshift fireworks which came from some welders working on a building.
I have to say, the more I see of them, the more I like Gio and Betty together. Henry is getting on my every last nerves the way he lets Charlie play him. I still don’t believe Charlie is carrying his kid. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if she lost the baby or was never pregnant and is faking it at this point. Pillow baby!
Other storylines going on in the episode . . . Willy set out to sabotage Daniel and Renee’s relationship, why we really don’t know. Clearly she can’t be protecting Daniel, she has to be looking out for her own butt for some reason. She told Daniel to ask Renee about “Stoneybrook.” Willy came between them, but they patched things up quickly. Renee claimed Stoneybrook was her college, she had a breakdown there and has been taking pills ever since. They then decided to move in together. Okay talk about fast moving here, this isn’t going to end well for poor Daniel.
Meanwhile Christina, locked in Willy’s place and determined to find out what is really up with Willy and her nutty sister, hid a baby monitor to listen to conversations. Renee got Mark drunk and got the truth out of him about Bradford’s sperm, which Christina must have heard no? Renee used it to blackmail Willy to leave her and Daniel alone. Later Willy caught the baby monitor right before she was to reveal a huge secret about her sister. Willy had Mark break into Daniel’s apartment to switch Renee’s pills with something else, which would drive her nuts again. Willy told Marc that he may think she’s the evil sister, but even she stops short of murder. Woah! I wonder what she did, and what’s with the hatred of candles Renee has? Also the scene with Daniel catching Marc looking at his undies, and Marc telling Daniel he wanted him to cover, was hilarious! Best scene of the show. The second best scene goes to Hilda for her confrontation with Charlie and flashing her nails, which aren’t just decorative.
The last storyline going on involved Claire starting a magazine for older women called Hot Flash. Alexis didn’t believe the magazine was going to be a success, it was a project they gave their mom to keep her occupied, but she was spending too much money and had to cut her off. After a pep-talk from Betty about how resourceful Claire is, Claire brought in ex-cons on a prison release program to help her with the magazine.
Tonight each couple did two dances each. Round one was the ballroom round.
Marissa and Tony danced the tango to some classical song. Len told her that it was her best dance. Bruno told her that she did a great job. Carrie Anne told her it showed a new side of her and was fantastic. They got a 27, three 9s and their best score.
Christian and Sheryl danced the Viennese waltz to “End Of the Road.” Len said they had a bit of romance, but not enough waltz. Carrie Anne wanted more flair. Bruno liked it. They got a 25.
Kristy and Marc danced the Viennese waltz to Avril Lavigne’s “With You.” Carrie Anne said her turns tonight were off. Len didn’t like the skirt, the mintzing around, the umbrella props. Bruno however like it and while her turn was off, it was a difficult move and she tried. They got a 26, including one 8, which they have never received.
Mario and Karina danced the foxtrot to some song I didn’t recognize. Len loved his dance, said he wasn’t the most elegant dancer, but well done. Bruno said he brought so much youthful vitality to everything he does. He felt he wasn’t as in control as the dance needed, but he was a pleasure to watch. Carrie Anne said he does very ambitious routines so he does a lot of work. She told him he needed to be a little stiffer for this dance rather than loose and shaky. They got a 24.
Shannon and Derek danced the tango to another classical song. Bruno told Shannon that she was masterful in this dance. Carrie Anne told her that it was her best dance yet by far. Len said that she did a terrific job. They got a 27.
Jasoin and Edyta danced the quick step to “Dirty Boogie.” Carrie thought it was all fantastic, Len said performances like that could get him to the final and Bruno said it was the performance of the night. They got a 29.
Round two was the Latin Round.
Marissa and Tony did the rumba to some song I have no idea what it was (I can’t wait a moment more?). Bruno said it was romantic, warm and sweet . . . but he wanted to see a little more sex. Carrie Anne thought it was beautiful. Len said it was a little careful and would have liked a bit more from her. They got a 25.
Christian and Cheryl danced the samba to a Latin song I don’t know. Unfortunately at the end Christian pulled a muscle and lost the end of the dance. It appears Christian got a severe muscle cramp. They judged only up to the point of the injury. They all said he was great for carrying on even with the injury. They got a a 21. Christian was later taken to the hospital.
Kristy and Marc danced the cha cha cha to “Please Don’t Stop The Music.” Len said he liked the middle section, but he didn’t like the segmented dancing where she danced then he danced. Len also didn’t like the boogaloo hip hop dancing. Bruno said this was a fantastic cha cha cha and contemporary. Carrie Anne said they got three snaps up and a round and around. They got a 28.
Mario and Karina did the mambo to an unknown Latin song. Bruno said the Latin dances were his comfort zone, he was great. Carrie Anne agreed, this was his dance. Len said it was wild, wacky and wonderful. They got a 27.
Shannon and Derek danced the mambo to “Ain’t Nothing Wrong With It.” Carrie Anne said she doesn’t know what to say. She said some of her lines were awkward because of her longs legs, but she did a good job. Len said she had a bionic bum the way it flew around. Bruno said the others were right, she had a slight gangliness in her lines, but an improvement. They got a 24.
Jason and Edyta danced the passodoble to the theme to Monday night football. Len said he came out with plenty of attack, a little too much posing though. Bruno said it was a winner. Carrie Anne said it was unconventional, but they did a great job. They got a 26.
I have a feeling this week Mario and Christian will end up in the bottom two, and I really don’t know who will go home. It could be Mario, with Christian getting the sympathy vote.
Comments Off on Dancing With The Stars: Injury On The Dancefloor!
So last night was the big finale, and the whole way they edited the question and answer session, well it seemed like it was anyone’s guess who would win this show. Sheila came off incredibly bitter towards Adam, so what a shocker when Adam one by all but one vote . . . Josh’s! I am shocked Sheila turned around and voted for him. Adam’s family is from where I live, so I’ll check the local papers to see what kind of local news and coverage they/he get.
Your thoughts? Did the right person win? I bet Ryan’s feeling mighty stupid for taking Adam to the final 2 right about now!
I write this as I sit in the airport waiting for a delayed flight home. I’m about to try and use the net to catch up on shows, but first here are some more spoilers for “Desperate Housewives.”
Here are some spoilerish tidbits for “Ugly Betty,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” and “Housewives.”
Once again, I’m in Vegas and will be getting in late tomorrow night. I’ll be catching up on all the shows via Tivo when I get home!
Various sources around the web this week were stating that Rebecca Romijn (Alexis Mead) was not happy at “Ugly Betty” and would be quitting after the second season. However Kirstin at E! has posted that Romijn is being dropped to recurring and it appears it was the show’s decision.
Also look for Gene Simons to make another guest appearance on the show as Amanda’s dad, according to Ausiello
Over to “Dirty Sexy Money,” it looks like the character Lucy Liu may play is a lawyer who opposes Nick in some case. Hmmmm, Kirstin at E! is also hinting in season 2 one of the Darling children may go on trial for trying to kill Nick’s dad Dutch, but we still don’t know if he’s dead.
Finally there are a lot of spoilers floating around for the season finale of “Desperate Housewives,” including the time jump. It almost looks like it’s going to happen based on comments from people here and there, but as of yet no confirmation of what will happen. “Housewives” has thrown out bum spoilers in past season finales I believe to keep the internet fans guessing. Kirstin at E! indicates a new husband Ken appears on Wisteria Lane with a secret that sets up the next season.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell is set to appear on the season finale of “Ugly Betty.” This comes from Becki Newton, who plays Amanda. The actress made comments at a recent public appearance about the supermodel’s guest stint on the show.
