Various Site Announcements/Plans

Posted by Dustin on 03.11.2008 at 7:18 pm

I figured I needed to post a bit about the site and my plans for it. I actually started the site almost a year ago as an experiment. I was trying to figure out if I wanted to add another primetime show to replace “The O.C.” I ended up rather liking being able to briefly cover a lot of shows I watch, rather than just picking one show and getting too in depth that the show I focused on no longer became fun for me. Furthermore let’s face it, shows get cancelled left and right nowadays, so it sucks to build up a site only to have the show you cover get the can (I’ve been through this three times now). This way I can just add newer shows in when older ones get the can. I like that πŸ™‚

I actually have a lot planned for the site and where I want to take it. The main hang up is and has been school. I’m trying to finish grad school and have to have my dissertation finished around May. This is taking a lot of my time up right now. I have just enough time to post about the shows and news bits, but not too much else! I’d love to post more than I am and lengthier posts, but right now I just don’t have the time. Soon though!

One possible solution to that is bringing in some help, which actually has always been a plan of mine. I’m going to possibly recruit some help from my brother soon. I just have to find out what he watches. For Sci-Fi buffs out there, you’ll probably love him. He’s into “Battlestar” and “Stargate” and all that stuff. What he watches aside from it I’m not sure! I also have a friend who I might be able to pull into the site as well. One thing I’ve also had in my mind is pulling in help from readers, especially those active with comments and on the forum πŸ˜‰

I have always wanted to get a custom made theme for the site. I’m not sure If I will do this or attempt to make my own. I’ve been tweaking and changing themes left and right, but have found two I really like (this being one). What I hope to do is use them as a framework, change the colors and graphics around and hopefully settle on something. If I get frustrated, I’ll turn to a designer I know and used for another blog.

Photos photos photos! I’ve been working to incorporate more photos into the site to spruce it up. I also have the ability now to capture photos from the shows, I just have to record them all on my PC to do so (the part I often forget to do.)

Finally last week I refined my spam guards on the blog a bit. Blogs are notorious for getting spammed, but sometimes guards can be too strong and prevent real comments from being posted. If you ever have trouble with it, please email me!

Bionic Woman Not That Dead Afterall?

Bionic Woman Not That Dead Afterall?

Posted by Dustin on 03.10.2008 at 3:50 pm

bionicwoman1.jpg Is the “Bionic Woman” about to be bionically resurected? The show was never officially killed off by NBC, but at the same time it wasn’t announced as one of the shows renewed for next season. Like many shows that debuted this season, it didn’t get a fair shot to try and fix the problems it had due to the writers’ strike.

On March 18th the show will hit DVD and advertisements have begun appearing on the net for it. It seems NBC’s making a push to sell the DVD, which they have titled “The Bionic Woman – Volume 1.” It definitely sounds like NBC doesn’t want to kill off all their options just yet with the show. The show’s first season is soon set to begin airing over seas.

Digital Spy has a report on an interview the show’s star, Michelle Ryan, did recently with Radio times about the show and how things turned out for it. She notes that should the show be picked back up that “everyone will go back with renewed enthusiasm”.

Big Brother 9: On The Block And On The Slop!

Big Brother 9: On The Block And On The Slop!

Posted by Dustin on 03.09.2008 at 8:21 pm

The food competition was held this week and Josh, Chelsea, Sheila and Sharron are all on slop!

All the men have seemingly formed some kind of alliance with each other, well everyone but Josh.

James has noticed Matt and Chelsea are stuck together now that the couples have been disbanded. He wonders if Chelsea’s interest in him was all game.

Natalie still seems clueless that Matt doesn’t like her at all.

The show ended with nominations, Sharron and Chelsea are both on the block.

Finally on Wednesday is when we find out which of the evicted house guests return.

Read on for a few more spoilers not yet aired!

VH1 Loves The Cho!

VH1 Loves The Cho!

Posted by Dustin on 03.08.2008 at 12:00 am

margaretcho.jpg Margaret Cho is being given her own show, “The Cho Show” by VH1! As of yet no details are known, but it appears to be some kind of reality show. My guess is something along the lines of Kathy Griffin’s “My Life On The D-List?” She tours yearly, so no doubt that is a big part of it. She’s also involved in a lot of political activism.

For those who aren’t familiar with her, Margaret is an Asian-American stand-up comedian. She’s very opinionated, very liberal, and very funny πŸ™‚ (I have tickets to see her next month!) She’s not new to TV, having appeared in the early 90s in the show “All American Girl.” Many of her previous tours and other film and TV projects can be rented or bought. She has a pretty foul mouth and sense of humor though, so I wouldn’t suggest going out and renting or purchasing without doing some research! (YouTube can help there).

Grey’s Spoilers: Finally Some GOOD News!

Grey’s Spoilers: Finally Some GOOD News!

Posted by Dustin on 03.07.2008 at 7:25 pm

Entertainment Weekly and TVGuide are both reporting that it looks like when Grey’s returns, that Derek and Meredith will finally find their way back to each other by the end of the season! A wedding? An engagement? All that was hinted was that they’d be together for good.

Also Ava/Jane Doe will return for another three episodes (five are left this season) and McDreamy’s new interest Nurse Rose will appear in all five episodes.

American Idol 7: The 80s Were A Lot More Fun Than This!

American Idol 7: The 80s Were A Lot More Fun Than This!

Posted by Dustin on 03.06.2008 at 8:58 pm

If you are on the West Coast, as usual, this will spoil it for you . .. so stop reading!

First up, I have to say I’m a little tired of hearing Ryan Seacrest tell us how this season is the best yet with the best talent. No Ryan, it’s not! When I’m pretty sure David Archuleta and Carly Smithson will be the final two in the end, something is kinda wrong!

Having grown up in the 80s and loving that much as much as I do the 70s, I was once again disappointed in a big way, especially with the song choices. More than ever I think someone is steering them and certain songs are off limits. Where was Madonna? Michael? Prince? Hell where was Culture Club? Some contestants made great choices, once again though I questioned why anyone would pick some of the songs others picked. I’m also wondering if Phil Collins and Celine Dion are getting royalties for their songs being used as people seem to be singing their stuff by the boatload!

Tonight’s show opened up with Blake Lewis performing his song “How Many Words” on the brand new stage.

They then moved onto the recaps and then the eliminations. Gone this week are Kady Malloy, Luke Menard, Asia’h Epperson and Danny Norriega are going home.

Beginning next week now that we are finally to the top 12, I will post polls every week in the side bar to vote. Let’s see how close we match what America is thinking!

Christian Wins Project Runway Season 4

Christian Wins Project Runway Season 4

Posted by Dustin on 03.06.2008 at 8:48 pm

christianpr.jpg So last night was the big finale of “Project Runway 4” and as I thought, Christian won.

Let’s go back to the week before, where they were deciding whether to send Rhami or Chris to the final three. They of course picked Rhami, which just ticked me off. I felt Chris was far more fun than Rhami. Rhami makes beautiful gowns, but they just get boring for me. What I really took offense to was that Michael Khors said Chris was still giving them costumes rather than fashion. Oh really Mike? Those words will come back to haunt you!

Rhami, Christian and Jillian went on to fashion week. I loved Jillian’s collection, but she didn’t win. I thought it was the most wearable AND colorful! Rhami’s collection . . . HATED IT! Again very beautiful gowns, but boring and ALL the same color. So much black and red. Even the judges said his issue was using color. Christian’s collection? Beautifully done, but again I had an issue with color! It was all black and browns! Can we also say COSTUME! They looked down on Chris for this, yet almost everything in Christian’s collection was over the top and not really wearable! Yes I get that is fashion πŸ™‚ However it was true, and even Michael told guest judge Victoria Beckham (who loved it) that not everyone could pull off these clothes like she could.

In sum, I really wish Chris went forwards. I think he would have put the smack down on Christian!

NBC Announces Summer Line-Up

NBC Announces Summer Line-Up

Posted by Dustin on 03.06.2008 at 11:37 am

The following is a press release detailing NBC’s summer line-up, mostly reality shows. I have to say “Celebrity Circus” has my interests peaked, only because it looks like a reality version of the old “Circus of the Stars” show, which I loved watching as a kid.

NBC LIGHTS UP SUMMER WITH A BURST OF ORIGINAL PROGRAM PREMIERES AS PART OF ‘NBC’S ALL-AMERICAN SUMMER’

BURBANK, Calif. – March 5, 2008 – NBC to celebrate America, its communities, athletes, songs, heroes, talent and Gladiators all summer long as part of “NBC’s All-American Summer” – the network’s run-up to its exclusive coverage of the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. The network will ignite a late spring and summer of original programming paced by the premieres of series favorites “American Gladiators” (Monday, May 12, 8-10 p.m. ET), “America’s Got Talent” (Tuesday, June 24, 9-11 p.m. ET), “Last Comic Standing” (Thursday, May 22, 9:30-11 p.m. ET) and the network debut of “Nashville Star” with new host Billy Ray Cyrus (Monday, June 9, 9:30-11 p.m. ET).

In addition, NBC will unveil the new suspense and horror anthology series “Fear Itself” on Thursday, May 29, 10-11 p.m. ET, as well as two new alternative series “Celebrity Circus” (Wednesday, June 11, 9-11 p.m. ET) and “The Baby Borrowers” (Wednesday, June 25, 8-9 p.m. ET).

The announcements were made today by Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.

“NBC’s All-American Summer” will kick off with the return of the high-octane hit “American Gladiators” which will follow its May 12 premiere by settling into its regular day and time on Monday, May 19 (8-9:30 p.m. ET). Likewise, “America’s Got Talent” will follow its June 24 debut with another two-hour episode on Tuesday, July 1 (9-11 p.m. ET) and then subsequently follow with hour-long episodes beginning July 8 (9-10 p.m. ET). The series will take a brief hiatus during the Summer Olympics and return August 26 (performance episodes) and “results shows” will begin starting August 27 (8-9 p.m. ET).

After its two-hour premiere, “Celebrity Circus” will resume in its regular day and time on Wednesday, June 18 (9-10 p.m. ET). Following its May 22 debut, “Last Comic Standing” will settle into its regular day and time on Thursday, May 29 (8:30-10 p.m. ET).
