Writers Strike Continues

Writers Strike Continues

Posted by Dustin on 12.08.2007 at 3:45 pm

Well this just blows chunks. In case you haven’t heard, the talks between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have stopped AGAIN. They had begun talking, and the AMPTP had a proposal they thought would please the WGA, but apparently it wasn’t good enough. Talks were called off again as of Friday evening. So the strike drags on, which probably solidifies the end of the season for many shows which have run out of episodes already.

Betty White Does Ugly Betty

Betty White Does Ugly Betty

So Willy’s magazine “Slater” was in trouble with the not only the employers, but the investors. Willy spread some fake cheer, but got into big trouble when she was caught on cell phone stealing a taxi from and then slamming Betty White’s hand in the door. The video of course made it to you tube, with a hilarious dance mix made as well. I loved Betty White in this episode giving it to Willy because all her “Golden Girls” money was gone and she needed to milk this publicity for what it was worth. Of course this was the final nail in “Slater’s” coffin, so she had to resort to plan B. Indeed she has had Bradford’s spunk stored in her fridge to make a baby with. Ew! How she thinks she’ll get control of “Mead” and “Mode” anytime soon is beyond me, as the kid has about 20 years to go, unless she intends to act on its behalf to protect what is coming to him or her? Something also tells me legally the kid would get nothing if he wasn’t named by name in the will. I mean hello, how many other people cut their own kids out of their wills?

Gio was back in this episode and turning up the heat with the Suarez sisters. Hilda asked him out on a date, but all his romantic talk got to Betty, who seems to have grown bored with the rut she and Henry are stuck in. She convinced Henry to go dancing with them, even though it wasn’t up his alley. The date for Betty and Henry appeared to be a bust, with Henry saying this wasn’t him and never would be. However he stepped up his game and danced for and with Betty. She in turn suggested they just go back home, I guess to their predictable ways. Gio asked Hilda out again, but she knew it was Betty he really liked. Whether she wants to admit or not, I think Betty finds something in Gio attractive as well. It looks like Betty’s headed for a love triangle!

Finally Bradford left a video will detailing who he wanted to run Mead, but the video was cut off before he named a name. Alexis and Daniel decided to settle it with a paintball tournament. Daniel had Alexis where he needed her when she was injured and down. Instead of taking the kill shot and winning, he suggested they just run it together. She agreed, but when they hugged, she used his gun to shoot him! That nasty witch. Daniel seems to be honoring that she won, which I wouldn’t be so big and do. I’ve always liked Alexis, but now she’s on my bad list!

Project Runway: Chris . . . Your Out

Project Runway: Chris . . . Your Out

Posted by Dustin on 12.06.2007 at 1:45 pm

Last night on “Project Runway” the contestants once again had to work in teams. This challenge was to take a group of fashion don’ts and make them into fashion dos. They had to make a cohesive and modern collection. They worked in pairs of threes, and each team made three outfits.

I really hate the team challenges, mainly because it’s always the team leader that seems to be sent home, even when they shouldn’t have been.

Tonight the clear winner was of course Jillian’s team, they did an amazing job. The two bottom teams were Ricky’s team and Chris’ team. When it came time to send someone home, it was down to the two team leaders. Honestly I think Ricky should have gone home, as his outfit was poorly done. Chris was sent home though as his collection wasn’t as modern as they’d have liked and it wasn’t a cohesive collection. Ricky I don’t expect to last much longer though, his work just isn’t up to par.

The real loser for me in this challenge was Victorya. I have always loved her work, but she was a beyotch tonight! If she wanted to be leader, she should have stepped up. She let Ricky be leader when he wanted to, but then when he didn’t perform up to her standards, she usurped his power. Victorya’s on my bad list right now!

Private Practice: It’s On!

Private Practice: It’s On!

Posted by Dustin on 12.06.2007 at 12:57 pm

I have to hand it to “Private Practice,” they completely turned every love relationship on it’s head and went for the unpredictable. Instead of putting the love sick Cooper with Violet, which is where it was obviously heading, they paired him with the Chief of Staff from the hospital. Clearly Violet now wants him even more now that he has a “girlfriend.” Meanwhile instead of putting Addison with Pete they have hooked her up with the police officer she flirted with a few episodes back. Meanwhile Sam and Naomi seem to be back on, but now Dell has professed his love for Naomi. Wow! Things are getting very interesting with the show. I still want to see Cooper with Violet though πŸ™‚

Heroes: End of Volume Two

Heroes: End of Volume Two

Posted by Dustin on 12.04.2007 at 6:42 pm

Ugh, what a way to possibly end the season of “Heroes,” and if the strike doesn’t resolve soon, it could be one hell of a wait to find out what happens!

Claire continued with her plan to expose the company, which neither West nor Bob liked. Bob told HRG this was unacceptable and Claire would have to be dealt with.

Elle talked with HRG about her own past after he made some comments to her about what he knew. He revealed how her dad Bob pushed her in testing her own powers as a little girl, pushed her until she was in pain. He said most parents can’t stand to see their child in pain, most . . . Clearly Bob is NOT a good guy.

HRG made a deal to go back to the company to protect his family. He revealed to them he was alive, it was Claire’s blood who saved him. He said he made a deal so they would all be safe, but he has to go back to the company. He then left them. I was a bit confused here. WHY does Bob want Noah back so bad? What does he know that they need? Noah has proved he’s not trustworthy, so he has something obviously.

Sylar and Maya arrived at Surresh’s, Sylar wants the cure to the virus that he has. Surresh said they’d have to go to his lab, knowing he was being spied on there and help would come. Sylar found out he had the same strain of the virus Nikki did, the company obviously injected him to take away his powers. When did they get a hold of him? Was it the shape shifter that did it? Or was she under orders from Bob? Sylar, not trusting Surresh, shot Maya and had him test the cure on her. I have to admit I wasn’t sad to see Maya go, she’s been a pointless character all season. Of course she was saved and brought back by the cure. After a battle with Elle, who showed up to capture him, Sylar then escaped and cured himself, bringing all his powers back. Just great!

Niki and Micah went to rescue Monica, who was trapped in a warehouse that was set on fire. Niki went in and got Monica, but the warehouse exploded and it appears Niki was inside! Is Niki dead? It looks like it, but looks can be deceiving.

Hiro, Matt and Nathan all ended up in Texas to convince Peter that Adam was bad and couldn’t be trusted. Peter finally realized his brother wouldn’t lie to him. Hiro vanished with Adam and Peter managed to grab the virus before it hit the ground, as Adam dropped it. Peter then destroyed it. Okay wait, what about Caitlin? She’s still just stuck in the future? Meanwhile Hiro put Adam in his grave, literally. He trapped him in a grave six feet under. Does this mean he’s going to live on until he’s freed? I would think he could actually starve to death or run out of air.

The show ended with Nathan, Matt and Peter deciding to reveal the truth about the company and their powers to the world. Before Nathan could, he was shot dead in the chest! Again though, is Peter dead? He had Adam’s blood, so will that heal him again? I have to say if Nathan is dead I’ll be pissed! We then saw Mama Petrelli on the phone with someone saying it had to be done and they had now opened Pandora’s box. Did Mama Petrelli put the hit out on Nathan? It sounds like it! Did she do it herself? Or perhaps it was Maury? So many questions!

Brothers and Sisters: They Do

Brothers and Sisters: They Do

Posted by Dustin on 12.03.2007 at 2:46 pm

So it was the big “Brothers and Sisters” wedding this week. With impending campaign disasters and secrets looming, Kitty and Robert were able to say “I do.”

Kevin found he was given the cold shoulder by the McCalisters after dumping Jason. He ranted and raved about them the whole night, which didn’t go over well with his date Scotty. When Kevin admitted he’d like to kill Robert, he was locked up by secret service! He had company as Nora’s date Stan was locked up for smoking a bowl.

Justin invited Lena to the wedding, which annoyed Tommy. It annoyed Rebbecca too, as she figured out Tommy was the married man she was seeing, and she probably was with Justin out of spite. Well duh! She told Justin the truth, he then confronted Tommy. They fought, and found themselves locked up as well! As of yet, Tommy’s wife Julia still doesn’t know about the affair. I was sure that she’d hear or see them fighting and learn the truth. Oh well. It’s coming sooner or later.

Half the wedding was locked up, until Robert finally came and sprang them.

Nora met Isaac at the wedding. Stan was locked up and so she got to know Isaac, who came to alert Kitty of the impending campaign blow up. It seems the story Kitty and Kevin tried to squash about Robert’s heroic rescue of some men was in fact coming back to haunt him. When Stan was finally released, Nora couldn’t believe he was smoking a bowl at her daughter’s wedding. He realized they weren’t a good match after all and dumped her! No matter, Nora had Isaac keeping her company, and there was somthing going on between them.

Kevin and Scotty returned home, where Kevin apologized for being bad date. Scotty told Kevin it was clear he wasn’t over Jason yet. So it looks like Kevin’s been dumped by Scotty yet again! We do know that Eric Winter (Jason) will return in the future, so things will get tricky. On one hand I feel for Kev, long distance relationships are no fun and who can blame him? He doesn’t know how long he’s supposed to be waiting. On the other hand, he did agree to wait.

At the wedding Saul wanted to see if he and Holly could get back together. She said she knew men, and she knew when men weren’t interested, he wasn’t. She basically told him they can’t help who they love, as if telling Saul “come out of that closet!” Later Holly got a surprise from some old Hollywood acquaintance named David (her real life husband Ken Olin). He claimed to be in town and heard about her owning an orchard, he wanted to see if it was really her. She wanted to know why he really looked her up after all this time. Hmmmm, a mystery? The way he picked up the photo of Rebbecca and looked at it, is there going to be a paternity scandal coming up? I remember last season they wanted to do a DNA test on Rebbecca to find out if it was true, but can’t recall if they actually did one or not.

Robert and Kitty went off on their honeymoon as Isaac and Nora talked and debated about democrats and republicans into the wee hours of the morning. Isaac got the word that the story about Robert was about to break. Nora said nothing could be done tonight, let them enjoy their honeymoon. And now we are left hanging so it seems.

Desperate Housewives: It’s A Twister!

Desperate Housewives: It’s A Twister!

Posted by Dustin on 12.03.2007 at 2:20 pm

So it was the big event, the tornado touched down on Wisteria Lane this week! This was one of, if not the best episode all season! Sadly, it looks to be the last until the writer’s strike ends.

Gaby and Carlos planned to run from Victor as the episode started. Good plan! Unfortunately a tornado was on it’s way as well and put a crimp in their plan. As Gabby and Carlos were packing, some guy came to bring Carlos the papers he needed to access his illegal funds, which of course were the only copies. So of course Edie intercepted them and Gabby caught her. It was clear where this one was going. A fight, the wind, goodbye papers to access all that money! I detester Edie! However Gabby and Edie were forced to take cover together and finally appeared to make amends. Gabby apologized, saying they never meant to hurt her. Edie meanwhile said she always knew Carlos would go back to her. It seems they’ve redeemed Edie, a little.

Meanwhile Carlos found Victor waiting at home and they got into a huge fight. It was goodbye Victor who got impaled by a piece of a flying picket fence. Twisted, but hilarious at the same time! Carlos was knocked out as well by a piece of flying debris.

Susan confronted Mike about habit, and he got angry, which lead to Susan storming off and an accident! Susan tumbled down the steps. Oh no! They headed to the hospital, fortunately everything was okay with the baby. However Mike started jonsin for a fix and ended up in an all out brawl with a doctor. When Susan was given pain meds, Mike actually begged her for one! Susan stayed strong, threatening to leave him if he didn’t get clean. Good girl! I was so afraid she was going to cave in.

Adam’s stalker and Katherine faced off this week. The stalked ended up at Bree’s house, claiming she and Adam had an affair and she could prove it as he had a tattoo on his arm. She locked herself in one of Bree’s room’s. Adam, Katherine, Bree, Orson and the baby had to hole up in a closet. As the tornado hit, the woman who claimed to have the affair finally came out of the room she was in. She told Adam she was leaving, this was her chance to stop her. She opened the door and was sucked out and up into oblivion! Is it terrible that I laughed? It was so outrageous! Meanwhile in the closet, Bree revealed what the stalker said about Adam’s tattoo, which she knew was a lie since she’d seen him at the pool and he didn’t have one. Katherine revealed he did have one, and she knew that Adam had cheated with this woman! So we know now Adam’s secret, he had an affair with a patient and was forced to settle. This cost them everything and is why they had to leave Chicago and move back to Wisteria Lane. Bree and Katherine bonded over the whole cheating hubby thing.

Lynette went over to Karen McLausky’s to ask if she and her family could hide out in her basement. Karen had already invited Ida over, Ida was her real friend. Karen gave it to Lynette saying they weren’t friends, Lynette only called on her when she needed her to watch her kids. Ouch! Karen eventually agreed to let them hide out there. I was wondering why she’s the only one with a basement? It would seem all the houses would have been made by the same company, so they’d all have basements? Oh well! Ida brought her cat with her. Unfortunately Tom was allergic to cats. When Lynette suggested they put it upstairs I thought “Oh no you didn’t Lynette!” I loved Ida’s response that they could put Penny up there with her, since it was so safe! When Tom started having trouble breathing, sneaky Lynette let the cat out! Karen went to chase it, Lynette followed her. They both ended up outside as the tornado came. They sought shelter in Lynette’s house, jumping in a tub and putting a mattress over them. They survived the storm, and I guess are not friends? However when they went outside, Karen’s house was completely gone! The entire thing had collapsed in on itself.

And now we are left with one hell of a cliffhanger! “Desperate Housewives” is usually good about their cliff hangers, but this one could be one hell of a wait if the writers strike doesn’t end soon.
