Has Weeds Gone To Pot?

I haven’t been commenting much on “Weeds,” and there is a reason. I just haven’t enjoyed it that much! I have tried to watch and like the episodes, but they have annoyed me. We have the brother Andy stuck in a war zone, being targeted for execution by the government, running and then being threatened to hand over the evidence that the army tried to kill him. Nancy is stuck being Uturns white slave girl and thug in training, while at the same time working for Matthew Modine’s character who seems to flirt with anything and anyone in town. Sylas, Nancy’s eldest son, has been selling drugs for her while he does his community service. He has meet Michelle Tanner, all grown up, working in the service of God and smoking pot because it’s all natural as God made it. In this most recent episode Marven, one of Uturn’s employees, basically killed him . . . . which leaves Nancy free of her white slave thug in training bonds I guess? Maybe things will become a little more lighter now?

I don’t know, “Weeds” used to be dark and funny, now it’s just dark and serious. I haven’t found myself laughing as much anymore. One of my friends agreed, she felt the series had gone to hell and wasn’t really watching much anymore. Any “Weeds” fans out there have thoughts on what has become of the show and the changes?

  1. I’m actually loving Weeds this season. Watched from season 1 and like the turn that season 3 is taking. I think sometimes with shows like Weeds especially because it is a show about something that is serious, you need that mix of dark and funny/dark and serious. I think Nancy falling and having to rebuild needed to come. In that business that threat is always there. I miss the constant interactions with Nancy,Conrad & co but it’s building the tension nicely for their reunion (I’m assuming in the future)

Btw, from what you wrote above, Dustin, did you watch this past Monday’s episode? I think you’d like it.

  2. I did watch the last episode and liked it more than the previous ones. Hopefully with UTurn gone Nancy will get back to normal. I miss the old characters and interactions too. I loved the housekeeper and miss Shawn and the little lesbian Huskaroos girl 🙂

  3. I have to (sadly) agree with you, Dustin. This season is missing something from the previous seasons. I have to say the cliffhanger wasn’t handled as well as I would have liked…it was intense, but the premiere felt very lackluster, and it has just been downhill since then.

Not too crazy about the new casting for Sylas’ love interest, either. Those two girls have never had any talent. They were a brand only because their preteen audience was too young to notice how awful they were. I’ll admit to enjoying them when I was younger, but I have no desire at this age to see their horrible acting on one of my favorite shows. Bleh.

Hopefully it gets better, but I am definitely not enjoying this season very much.
